I'm sorry to see it end. Thanks for giving us the heads up though :-)

Aight. I just plopped him down next to Coalhouse. Figured the blind man would have done the least amount of randomly walking around and thus be close to where we came from (and where the baddies appear!).

Plus, this way, there's hopefully less fine manoeuvring needed ^^

Meadow Battle This time my link is hopefully not missing any important components :P

Time sorta ran away while I was fiddling with things but I did add the Devourers and Theodric to the map. Let me know what coordinates the later wants to be and I'll move him there! (or something more general...)

I'll do something quick for Lumnia later today I think. We'll see : )

Fortune *did* seem to have some pity for them after all! Velar concentrated to split his appearance into multiple copies and dashed towards the monsters at the edge of the fallen rocks.

R1:
Actions:

Swift to use Arcane Armour Mastery (Spell Failure is now 0%)

Standard to cast Mirror Image

Mirror Images: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Move to move to I11, threatening both Devourers thanks to Long Arm.

Attacks of Opportunity, if needed:

AoO 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

AoO 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

AoO 3: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

AoO 4: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

AoO 5: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

If they can be Tripped (aka not flying) Velar would try to do so. His attacks gain a +4 bonus in this case.

If they can't he will use Power Attack. His attacks would be on a -2 penalty in this case.

Lastly, if the AoO is provoked by moving he gets a to-hit bonus with his Branched Spear. Extra +2 bonus in that case.

AoO Damage if needed:

AoO 1: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

AoO 2: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

AoO 3: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

AoO 4: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

AoO 5: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Sad Note @(Velar,) Aramil, Dragaryen, Darivan, Kaellin, Theodric and Tomáš

The Haste cast by Velar on the first round will expire at the end of round seven. Which is exactly about now. Talk about poor timing eh :P

Status: Mirror Imaged (5 images), Long Arm (+5' reach) | hp 62/62 | AC 24/16/19 | CMD 25 | Fort +7 Ref +9 Will +5 | Per +12 | Sense +10 | Init +7 | Skie

Seeing as no-one stepped up Velar took it upon himself to share his wisdom with the younger races. Not that he knew much about their foe no. But he had an inkling or two about the lay of the situation.

"With preparation and careful planning we could slay those creatures. But we have neither. Without it our odds are ... Bleak." The elf sighs. What wouldn't he give for a cadre of paladins and a night to scheme? No matter, they had to play this hand fate had dealt them. Folding was simply too costly. "I saw them gorge themselves on the souls of our people; no doubt they'd prefer to continue with that. But they didn't. So it is only logical to assume they are compelled to find you by something much stronger then their base desires. We can't count on them stopping."

"And they won't sleep, so they *will* catch up. Only question is then: battle them now or when they run us down?"

"If of course there aren't any outside factors. We could race deeper into the First World and pray the fay deals with them first. I'd mention that such a gamble might cost our very souls but ... They might already be forfeit."

Now this is awkward - looking back I'm not sure anyone actually rolled well enough to know anything about Devourers at all ...

Some of us, *cough* Velar *cough*, didn't even roll. I'll fix that now

Know: Religion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Know: Planes: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

... So we do know they're undead at least^^

@Images - I'm not sure pp online has layers, maybe it works if you can anchor the background image or something?

Otherwise it might work if you make it offline and then upload/export it. Maybe.

@Faux Silver - She'll have the blanch anyhow. Getting through DR/Silver isn't happing any other way (until she gets a hold of some fancy weapons or spells). So might as well bring one if they are indeed prettier then the normal Javelins :P

@Aid Other - Mm. I was mostly thinking for future use. Velar is, after all, going to have Lumnia around rather often. And the Mephit doesn't have the smarts nor class bonuses to reach high on Knowledge skills. Hitting that 10 for Aid Another is, *uh*, another matter of course!

@Plan - I'm not 100% convinced if following Lumnia's 'stand and fight' prompt is a stellar idea. Unless I severely missed something her insight in things probably aren't greater then the rest of us :P

But the spot is kinda neat.

Another thing worth considering is if the fairies dislike Daemons more then us (probably!). Then simply fleeing and waiting for the incursion to be noticed might be a valid play.

"The First World. Of course; what else would decide to intrude inside a storage closet?" Velar mutters to himself. This place were truly vivid and beautiful - just like the most poisonous of snakes. Sadly he didn't have time to ponder the nature of beauty right now.

"Lumnia? What are you doing here?" the elf chokes. His familiar really wasn't on the list of things he had expected to stumble over here. He probed the empathic bond just to see if this was some elaborate ruse. But all he could sense were the desire to stand and fight reflected back at him.

Well - we are part of the same. He gestured for his squire to take position behind him for now. Had it been his decision answering Lumnia would have been easy. But it wasn't. "My King! What is your command? There might not be a better position. Or another way back to our world."

How do we feel about Aid Another on prompted Knowledge checks?

If Velar could help Amavin instead of rolling his own check we would have hit the DC.

And with a small bump Velar would have gotten there on the K:Planes check.

(Hmmhmm his Familiar would have been handy right now :-P)

Status: Mirror Imaged (5 images), Long Arm (+5' reach) | hp 62/62 | AC 24/16/19 | CMD 25 | Fort +7 Ref +9 Will +5 | Per +12 | Sense +10 | Init +7 | Skie

"I don't think we are anywhere near the castle anymore." Velar noted sourly. He couldn't sense his familiar through the empathic link and he was fairly sure there were no place in Brevoy like this. Or Golarion for that matter. Perhaps there is no grand plot, just the multiverse falling appart? A today that started so well...

"Were else though, I'm not sure." But he could almost tell. Like a faded song without words lurking just beneath the conscious, some part of him *knew*. It just didn't feel like sharing just yet. Gah! With an annoyed shrug the elf tried to clear his head.

"But that's not our biggest issue - we got here by foot and I see nothing that indicates that our pursuers won't. Amavin is right. We should move." Wasting no more time Velar readied his spear once more and stepped out towards the caverns entrance. As he did he glanced up towards the flying sorceress. "How does it look up there? Could it be possible to bring the roof down; trap the daemons underneath the rock?"

Rolls & stuff:
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18

K:Nature: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

K:Planes: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Velar continues to race along with the King pausing only to take one last look at the banquette hall just as they are about to leave. The pale elf has a sour(er then usual) expression on his face. This really wasn't a good start for their expedition - and he wasn't sure how to even start salvage it all.

But first they had to survive. Biting down hard Velar turned his back on the scene and hurried along, keeping his eyes ahead and his spear ready.

Round 4 + 5:
Moving with the King, keeping pace easily since Velar is in light armour and hasted.

Threatening 15' so we'll rely on that for now.

Status: Mirror Imaged (5 images), Long Arm (+5' reach) | hp 62/62 | AC 24/16/19 | CMD 25 | Fort +7 Ref +9 Will +5 | Per +12 | Sense +10 | Init +7 | Skie

Velar muttered a curse under his breath and quickly tried to consider his options. He had his *orders*. Now that was still an unfamiliar thought, one that sent a shiver down his spine. But the King was moving so painfully slow - perhaps he too was torn between duty and heart?

For now, he decided, the archer next to him seemed to have the correct idea. "Do you mind?" The pale elf gestured with an silver gauntleted hand towards the archers quiver of arrows, waiting only a moment for a reply. Then he reached out and plucked seven of the arrows (Assuming Lyda is okay with that of course!) - carefully as not to touch it. Her. The fell-spawn had taken the oath with him - and now really wasn't the time for such reservations - so he corrected himself.

Then with a small invocation he let the arrows go, leaving them hanging in thin air just a foot or so from his grasp. He sent the first one soaring into the hostile lump of hellspawn as quickly as possible, while trying to make way towards the stairs.

Round 3:
Telekinetic Volley: Attack: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 11 - 2 + 1 = 17

Telekinetic Volley: Damage?: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Swift Action: Activate Arcane Armour Mastery
Standard Action: Cast Telekinetic Volley
Target 7 of Lyda's arrows
Free action: Launch one arrow at whatever target presents itself. Using Deadly Aim.
Move action: O14 -> J6 (60', due to Haste)

All right!

Skills fixed and Familiar updated (give me a heads up if I need to make a build summary - but it's really just the familiar improvements slapped ontop of a standard Dust Mephit with some gear).

However - cohort update hasn't materialized yet. So in the interest of having things go along smoothly I have a suggestion!

Suggestion) How about simply having Skie 2.0 not attending the party for [some plausible reason]?

That way there's no need to wait and I can ditch this damned cold before I need to finish that work :P

Mm I considered it but decided actually having a weapon might be more beneficial (and the logistics turned out to be a bother!).

Maybe some nearby NPCs though?

@Long Arm - I fluffed the spell as extending Velar's reach by allowing him to wield his spear by short ranged telekinesis (5') instead of actually making his arms (5') longer. They would both be transmutation effects and Long Arm lacks the polymorph descriptor. And it feels cooler then long wobbly arms :P

Status: Mirror Imaged (5 images), Long Arm (+5' reach) | hp 62/62 | AC 24/16/19 | CMD 25 | Fort +7 Ref +9 Will +5 | Per +12 | Sense +10 | Init +7 | Skie

Round 2

Velar flinched as the orders where yelled. For once he wasn't used to obeying them. And more importantly - they called him away while this battle looked to need every blade they had. Even then ... Bleak odds. He stepped down from the table and glanced back at the king. He hadn't started moving yet - maybe he would still overrule the command? Not that likely. But there was still a (small) chance so Velar lingered. In the meanwhile he took the time to free his spear from the unbalancing sheath by briefly transmuting his hand again. And then a little quick telekinetic trick to grant him a bit more reach.

Actions:
Misc: 5-foot step to the left. Swift: Battleshape claw. Move: free spear. Standard: Cast Long Arm

Arcane Spell Failure (1-15): 1d100 ⇒ 89

Status: Mirror Imaged (5 images), Long Arm (+5' reach) | hp 62/62 | AC 24/16/19 | CMD 25 | Fort +7 Ref +9 Will +5 | Per +12 | Sense +10 | Init +7 | Skie

Oh I just grabbed the opportunity to lament on the daemons successful saves :P

Status: Mirror Imaged (5 images), Long Arm (+5' reach) | hp 62/62 | AC 24/16/19 | CMD 25 | Fort +7 Ref +9 Will +5 | Per +12 | Sense +10 | Init +7 | Skie

Anyone dead/down from 2d6 damage could probably be counted out anyhow due to those ravenous hordes of daemons. And difficult terrain does sorta help, seeing as these tiny critters doesn't seem to be flying (like a normal cacodeamon would). Since they are tiny they can't make AoOs so not being able to 5-foot away isn't that bad.

Now, if you want to know what's bad; it's glitterdusting those blighters and having them counter with hot dice. At least any civvies caught in that doesn't have to see their doom ...

Status: Mirror Imaged (5 images), Long Arm (+5' reach) | hp 62/62 | AC 24/16/19 | CMD 25 | Fort +7 Ref +9 Will +5 | Per +12 | Sense +10 | Init +7 | Skie

@Grease - the flaming clause was removed in the transition from 3.0 to 3.5 I think. Curiously Web still has that feature!

@Spider's Glittering Storm of Stony Chaos - I like it. Maybe we ought to research it as an custom spell later on :P?

Status: Mirror Imaged (5 images), Long Arm (+5' reach) | hp 62/62 | AC 24/16/19 | CMD 25 | Fort +7 Ref +9 Will +5 | Per +12 | Sense +10 | Init +7 | Skie

Added glitterdust graphic and legend to the map.

Note: If the area next to the assaulting daemons appear to be very crowded as Velar casts his spell he'd move the targeted area 5' to the north just to avoid hitting people.

Status: Mirror Imaged (5 images), Long Arm (+5' reach) | hp 62/62 | AC 24/16/19 | CMD 25 | Fort +7 Ref +9 Will +5 | Per +12 | Sense +10 | Init +7 | Skie

@Spear sheath - Mm that looks like I imagined. Something that prevents the pointy sharp end from being pointy and sharp. But would it, in your mind, prevent Velar from using his spear to trip people/daemons given that the sheath doesn't actually restrain the weapon?

@Important people - True! The most proper course of action would probably be to form up around the king and wait for his command - partially why Velar didn't haste-move too far away :P

Status: Mirror Imaged (5 images), Long Arm (+5' reach) | hp 62/62 | AC 24/16/19 | CMD 25 | Fort +7 Ref +9 Will +5 | Per +12 | Sense +10 | Init +7 | Skie

Oh and I forgot to add...

@Speaking - If anyone has something they really need to say come poke Velar and he'll use his scroll of Clarion Call on you. That should let the target be heard. (Though I suppose a scroll case would also be peace bond?)

Status: Mirror Imaged (5 images), Long Arm (+5' reach) | hp 62/62 | AC 24/16/19 | CMD 25 | Fort +7 Ref +9 Will +5 | Per +12 | Sense +10 | Init +7 | Skie

@Velar/Skie concerns - Erp I'll have to admit, despite it being a major talking point earlier, that the fact that the component pouch would also be peacebond slipped my mind. Velar would have to free that one first (unless there so happens to be a desert made out of licorice and ground rock :P?).

Though I'm having a bit of difficulty imagining how a peacebond on a spear would work if it was aimed to prevent the act of drawing the spear (gluing it to the ground?). Would it be reasonable to assume that a spear would instead have a something wrapped around the sharp bits and then secured - which would prevent the spear from effectively stabbing people (perhaps force the -4 to nonlethal or -3 to minimum damage?) but not from actually swinging it?

Or perhaps someone decided that he would look more heroic/convenient to fit in a crowd without dragging around a ~10' spear and convinced him to leave it somewhere...

Skie would like to be on the table. While trying to shoot someone without improved precise shot is going to be a chore at least the higher ground might give it a slight chance!

And it isn't that often you get to break out the d100 so I like to honour the occasion ^^

@Glitterdust - The blinding effect only occurs when the spell itself is cast so it would probably be better to view it as an side effect of tons of bright particles suddenly appearing rather then the glitter itself getting into your eyes. Like the flash part of an flash bang rather then cs gas. Additionally the spell notes that the dust "cannot be removed" so any interactions with Gust of Wind would probably be marginal at best. Just my opinion of course - I'll bow down to the GM and the rule of cool :)

@Protecting - It should be noted that Chalm himself pointed out that we were also sworn to serve the people. Many of those gathered here would presumably qualify as people^^

@Spell links - Will do!

@Gust of Wind - Not sure if it is actually the best choice to go for. I mainly mentioned it because the mental image of smacking a good chunk of those blighters into a wall was too good to pass up :P

Status: Mirror Imaged (5 images), Long Arm (+5' reach) | hp 62/62 | AC 24/16/19 | CMD 25 | Fort +7 Ref +9 Will +5 | Per +12 | Sense +10 | Init +7 | Skie

Demons are immune to electric and resists fire while daemons (as this seems to be) resist both. Which means that the common AoE thingies work so-so.

What we would need is a giant flyswatter or something ...

Hmm. Gust of Wind could have been handy!

Very wild guess? Maybe they are moving the gameplay/discussion data somewhere. It seems awfully specific for just those two subforums being awol.

Something is f@+&y with the website again. It's not just this campaign where this is happening ...

@Darivan - Sorry about that!

Hmm. Not sure about if we should distinguish the targets. As opposed to Fly there really isn't any special targeting restrictions or such and the map might get cluttered fast if every buff gets their own colour. On the other hand Haste is such a significant buff it might be worth adding something as a reminder, just to avoid confusion.

Speaking of ...

@Darvan - I noticed you added Haste in your summary. I suspect that this may be from Velars casting (if not ignore all this and carry on : ) ). Sadly he didn't target Darvan but Darivan as the former would violate the "all targets must be within 30' clause". Sorry!

@(Velar,) Aramil, Dragaryen, Darivan, Kaellin, Theodric and Tomáš - You are all Hasted for seven rounds.

Targets were picked among the PC's that were within the 30' blob at the time of posting, before Velar moved out. Sorry people whom didn't get it!

Pre-round

He had though the party to be quite testing, but he'd take another hour posing for drawing rather then this. Paladins keeling over was never a good sign. Neither is the crashing of gates. he noted sourly to himself. At least he was armed and armoured. A quick glance out on the banquette hall reminded him that many were not quite that lucky and would likely need protection when whatever that was coming came.

First he would need to actually be able to wield his spear. A quick burst of concentration and the elves armoured gauntlet wrapped into wicked claws - an inelegant weapon but perfectly sufficient to tear away the offending bond. Secondly he would need to cross the great hall quickly. And preferably in good company. Even has his hand returned to normal Velar traced lines in the air around him and uttered a commanding word of power.

"Drutagatitē!"

Swiftness in the language of the elves and the air surged around himself and some of the assembled warriors.

Actions:
Swift action: Battle Shape for claw

Move action: Cut peacebond with claw (assuming it counts as sharp knife)

Standard action: Cast Haste targeting Velar, Aramil, Dragaryen, Darivan, Kaellin, Theodric and Tomáš. As of posting, they all seem to be within 30' of eachother. If that isn't true, substitute in the king and the gathered swordlords.

Arcane Spell Failure (1-15): 1d100 ⇒ 26

Round 1

Heading swiftly towards the oncoming foes the elf had ample opportunity to observe the enemy, thanks to his height advantage, though he somewhat wished he didn't have to see them. Envying the blind. That's new... Those eyeblights were an affront to everything just and pure - and more importantly - they seemed intent on tearing more then just the one person apart. Maybe it would be for the best if they were all blind instead? Tracing another sigil Velar called out for his enemies sight to be deprived.

"Timira!"

A small cloud briefly burst into existence among the invaders and vanished almost as quickly. Though it was only there for a brief moment it left a lasting trace - nearly every inch it had touched where covered in fine dust scintillating in all the colours of the rainbow!

Actions:
Swift action: Use Arcane Armour Mastery

Move Action: Move ~30' east (E11 -> J9) assuming some speed penalties due to general chaos

Standard Action: Glitterdust targeting the intersection between C, D, 1 & 2. It's a 10' radii from there

Vs Spell Resistance: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 Note to self - check if spell require SR or not before starting to post

Save DC is 16 Will

It was time for the oath-taking - finally! He had spent most of the party waiting for this moment, trying to pass time as painlessly as possible. Some of these days Velar wondered if humanity was truly devoted to squander all the precious time they had. Though he dreaded to imagine how long a similar ceremony would have taken in Kyonin. Brr! As he shuddered he realized he was supposed to come forth next. Very well. Let the grand adventure begin; freedom I see you in half a century or so!

I swear to faithfully execute the charges given to me, to protect and guide the people over whom I am granted rulership, guarding them in times of peril, nurturing them in times of peace, leading them in times of war, and governing them always with justice tempered by mercy, as the gods give me the wisdom to so do. This I swear to do until my final death, the world's end, or my lord release me."

The current oath taker is a tall and weathered elf, looking a bit awkward as he kneels before the "throne". He recites the binding words in a clear voice and an accent hinting of northern heritage. When the brief ritual is complete and he returns to his seat the elf looks relieved and his mind seems to wander off onto other, perhaps more exciting, places.
