Hey guys, sorry for lagging behind but I got a new job after my PhD and now I need to carefully reduce the number of games I play in. Unfortunately, this being the most recent one, is the one I have to cut first. I'm sad about it, because I really appreciate Wolfspirit GMing style, but I've realized that I would be completely unable to post consinstently, especially now that I've lost all of the hype. The GM is great, the party is great as well. The only thing I regret is that during the time passed from the original recruitment and the start of this campaign, I almost completely lost my hype and wasn't able to regain it.

With that said, I hope you'll have tons of fun in this campaign. GM, if you could mark me as inactive, it would be excellent.

Vasilyan nods, a confident expression written all over his face. "Let's make this quick then. Wait for me to fire a few arrows before attacking. I'll try to put down that lookout first."

With that said, Vasilyan draws a few arrows from his quiver and gets into position, trying to find a good spot from where to fire his arrows at the closest lookout.

Vasilyan came just in time to listen to the bandit's story. He crouches near to him and listens carefully. When he's done speaking, Vasilyan looks at him with a stern expression on his bearded face. I'll front-load my actions for the next round, since I'll be probably very busy this afternoon.

Vasilyan grins in satisfaction as he sees the bandits' leader going down. It could have been me...I hope he's not dead. But I needed to stop him. Old Deadye, you really saved my life. Only now I realize how sad and empty is life as a bandit.

Focusing on the current situation and not allowing his thoughs to drift his attention away, Vasilyan nocks another arrow, drawing one more arrow to fire it in quick successione after the first one. They're both blunt arrows. They're bandits, not irredeemable evil monster. Besides, we could benefit from questioning one of them.

Once he's ready, Vasilyan fires both of his blunt arrow at the nearest bandit, stepping forward if he needs to in order to come closer to his target.

Vasilyan uses the time the group gained through the surprise positioning to get in a better place from which to fire arrows on his enemies. A few seconds after, he nocks two arrows in quick succession and fires them at the man who appears to be the bandits' leader. Old Deadeye, guide my weapons, for these lands deserve justice!

Vasilyan will take position where I moved his token to. He will stay couched behind the wooden palisade, waiting for the bandits' arrival. I'm sorry for the lack of posting, but it's usually very hard for me to post on weekends.

Hmm...There's clearly more to it, but they do not want to share it with us. I wonder why... Vasilyan listens attentively to both Oleg and Svetlana, but his mind frequently drifts to his own thoughts. Svetlana. Name's not new. Singer, courtesan...House Surtova, I believe. I wonder why she's here.

"You don't need to barter for our help, Oleg. We're here to help. I'll pay anyway for the comforts of your home. But let's get to point: we're tasked with exploring the Greenbelt, and it would be useful for us to have a place where to return for provisions and lodging. So we'll fight for this place. How many of them came last time? You mentioned their number decreades over time."

Vasilyan shakes his head as Alexei speaks. He does not know nothing about bandits. Even true nobles could become bandits. Even though he strongly disagrees with his ally's words, he does not chime in.

But when Raven starts barking orders, Vasilyan can't refrain himself anymore. "Listen, Raven, Vorsirion is right. I've already told you that I won't be taking orders from you. And he won't do it, either. We're all together in this, so we should discuss our plan as a team. You shouldn't be telling me what type of arrows I should use, nor where should I be positioning myself. You may ask me to do that, not command me to. Do I need to recall you who am I? Your plan makes sense, but words are important. Do not understimate them. If I was a young recruit, I would have deserted as soon as I realized I had not any chance to speak. Next time, try to be more dialogic. And as far as pikes and heads are concerned, I think violence is not the best solution. At least not always."

Vasilyan frowns at the sight of the man looking their way with apprehension. Mmm...bad sign. And he has a crossbow too...

"What's your business there? You're not affiliated with the Stag Lord, are you?"

The Stag Lord? Who's he? "I don't know this Stag Lord you speak about. And I'm not affiliated with anyone else apart from my family and my companions, here. Name's Vasilyan Medvyed, pleased to make your acquiescence..." says Vasilyan in his usual gruff voice.

When the man lowers his crossbow, Vasilyan nods calmly.

"Yes, name's Oleg, and I suppose you don't *look* like those godsforsaken bandits..."

Well, you should've seen me a few years ago... thinks Vasilyan, his face not betraying any of his inner feelings. But he's right. Bandits and gods just don't mix. At least in my experience.

As the man opens the gate, Vasilyan is quick to move closer and shake hands with him.

"Come in, and welcome to the Trading Post"

"Thank you Oleg" simply says Vasilyan as he follows the man inside.

"My wife Svetlana will skewer me if supper gets cold, best to see to that"

Vasilyan can't hold back a laughter when he hears the man's concern about her wife's reaction to the cold supper. "It's best not to make a woman wait" he says smiling, taking advantage of the situation to break the ice.

As they eat, Vasilyan stays mostly silent, listening to his companions' questions and Oleg's answers.

He's got only one question. He's always been very pragmatic, after all. But he does not lack the proper etiquette, so he waits untile the more mundane topics are dealt with before asking: "This Stag Lord. Who's he?"

Vasilyan is a bit surprised in finding that the newcomer actually knows his family motto. He smiles in response, nodding slightly. It's so strange to hear those words from someone who's not from my family...

When he hears the snake actually speaking, Vasilyan's eyes widens, although the man tries to regain his composure as soon as possible. A talking snake? What the... The snake words' carried a significant meaning too. Vasilyan stands astonished, unable to figure out a proper reaction to such an unexpected situation. Eventually, he decides that he won't be replying to the snake. It would have made him feel strange indeed to actually talk to a serpent.

"Don't worry milady, everything's fine" he says in a gruff voice, trying to hide his sense of uneasiness. "I need to attend to some preparations now. It's been a pleasure to meet you and I'm sure we'll have the chance to talk further in the future, if you're going to come along with us."

Vasilyan carefully observes the newcomer. His gaze fixed on her, the Brevic archer studies every move of the attractive half-elf. She cannot ride confidently. Bad. She cannot dismount quickly. Bad as well. She was worried about being the only woman in the group, meaning that she had a somehow bad experience with men in her life. This is not bad, just predictable. But if she thinks that Raven's going to be her coquetting partner she's totally wrong.

Vasilyan smiles to the woman absent-mindedly, and remembering the etiquette he learned back when he was in New Stetven as a young lad, he approaches the newcomer and kisses her hand gently, his bristly beard rubbing against the woman's glove or skin. "I'm Vasilyan Medvyed, milady. It's a pleasure to make your acquiescence."

Vasilian looks suspiciously at the snake on the woman's shoulder. Snakes...I never liked snakes...Let's hope this one is not another biting, venomous bastard as its brethren.

I'm not so sure I like this version of Surtovas...They're easily the worst people in the world, inclined to rape everyone they look at.

Vasilyan nods firmly as he hears the man complaining about nobles playing politics all the while ignoring their land's true problem. His family has always been thinking along that way, and since he had returned in Brevoy, things didn't seem to have change. Not a bit.

Rather than accepting the man's offer to use the spartan accomodations of the Fort, Vasilyan puts a hand on the Knight Captain's shoulder. "I'd rather help you in patrol than bask in idleness. Erastil blessed me with good sight, and I do not carry this bow for mere embellishment. You can count on me, Knight Captain, at least until my duties will claim me elsewhere."

Vasilyan's mind was filled with dark images after the encounter with the madman and his skeletal minions. I never imagined such a folly, such a depraved cruelty existed in out walls, within the walls of our cities, under the ground of our communities. My father was used to say that heroes are stupid. That no one needs heroes. That heroes are troublemakers creating more problems than the ones they can solve. But I can't agree on that. I just cannot, not after what I've seen. This country, this land, this people need heroes. I'm not gonna be one, but I'll try my best to help protecting my land. That's why I have to leave. That's why I cannot stay and accept my rightful claim to my ancestral lands.

He spent the vast majority of his time thinking about what he had experienced. He was left with little time to make purchases. Well, maybe this Oleg will have something for me.

Before he could even realize, he was traveling to Fort Sarenko. He spent almost all of his time in silence. Occasionaly, he spoke to Raven, talking about her new fighting skills.

When the group eventually approaches Fort Sarenko, Vasilyan nimbly dismounts in order to shake hands with the officer. "Vasilyan Medvyed. Honored to make your acquiescence, officer..." he paused to allow the officer to introduce himself. He knew only too well that men are inclined to act more responsably after having revealed their names. "As Alexei said, we have an official charter detailaing both our duties and our rights." His voice is cold as the wind from the north, his tone gruff even though very polite. He scretched his beard, looking around nervously. Small talk had always made him feel uncomfortable.

For a quick reference, imagine Vasilyan's voice as very similar to Geralt's one in The Witcher: Wild Hunt.

Open to the possibility? Definitely yes. Vasilyan is looking for a wife, he's a follower of Erastil and doesn't have a family yet. What I was trying to say is that it wouldn't be wise to plan things ahead of time. I would like to see if things happen in game, and if it happens at all. This is far more interesting to me!

I tend not to plan anything ahead for my characters, especially in PbP ;)

Vasilyan was conceived to be a leader, yes. But I think that this is a matter that needs to be decided in character after all.

Looking forward to play with you oyzar! I'll post as Vasilyan within the day. I feel much better now, and I'm ready to start as soon as I'll have posted at least once in the Gameplay Thread.

I'm feeling better guys and decided that I'll join the campaign. I don't think I'll catch up in the Gameplay Thread until we start Kingmaker though: I've been lagging behind for several days now due to my flu, and it's particulartly hard for me to catch up! But rest assured that I've read everything!

In any case, I'm currently feeling sick from a particularly bad flu and fever. I'm going to catch up as soon as I can!

I'm leaning toward a big yes BTW :D

I've been a tad disappointed by the posting rate of the game so far. I found that it's incredibly hard to stay in character when you don't have the chance to post at least 1/day everyday. On the one hand, I appreciate Wolfspirit GMing style and love the way he approaches several things, but on the other hand I have to admit that I feel a little bit disappointed by the slow rate at which the game has been progressing...It's not easy to find a definitive answer. I'll think about it in the next few days and let you know :)

Vasilyan spends some time amassing the skeleton's weapons and armors in a heap in the corner of the room. "These weapons and armors are quite valuable. We should come back back and retrieve them before we leave." Then, the archer grabs an alchemist's fire, a vial of acid, a smokestick and a thunderstone and puts them into his backpack. "These could come in handy as well, you should take the others" says Vasilyan as he grabs the wand and the tarnished holy symbol. "These are valuable proofs of the activity going on down here. We should keep them and show them to the priestess."

"We've almost made it! C'mon!" shouts fiercely Vasilyan as he aims for the only remaining target, the skeleton, with two blunt arrows.

"Be careful, Raven!" shouts out Vasilyan as he sees the woman he fought a group of trolls with in the past. These skeletons are dangerous indeed. If the same attack that hit the bird would have hit Raven, I don't know if she would have survived...We must stay wary.

Vasilyan keeps shooting blunt arrows at the skeletons to his right. "They're tougher than I expected, but we'll take them down!" He grins as he fires his blunt arrows, a firm expression on his face and his teeth clenched in tension.

Vasilyan furrows his eyebrows as he sees his arrow missing the man atop the balcony. His keen eyes are however soon claimed by the army of advancing skeletons in the chamber. Without losing his confidence, the Brevic archer nocks two blunt arrows in his bow and fires them in rapid succession at one of the skeletons.

Right after, he turns to Arisl'arial, to see if the elf is alright. Seeing that she's still unscathed, he whispers "Don't worry milady, we'll make it. Nice spell selection anyway" He smiles confidently at her in order to fuel her resolve.

Don't break the formation!" he barks to his allies as soon as he can release his breath without impair his aim.

GM is there any particular reason for Vasilyan going fourth instead of first? Also, he should have a +3 bonus to his initiative check.Thank you!

Disturbed by the strange apparitions in the chamber of polished mirrors, Vasilyan stands astonished at the exploding sections of the wall. "Watch out!" he shouts out, holding his trusty bow tight in his grip, "Skeletons ahead! Stand ready!" he screams as he tries to focus his gaze on the vile undead and not to look directly into their soulless eyes.

So, where we're at: I have a (hopefully!) interesting combat planned that we're going to speed to, some additional roleplaying, and then moving to Kingmaker assuming people are still on board. It's a losing proposition to try to regain momentum right before the weekend, so I'll start the combat up Sunday Night or Monday morning, and let's steam along.

Vasilyan smiles understandigly to the children. "Understood. The priests were simply praying and paying homages to the dead. Don't worry about them."

The Brevic archer thinks to himself for a few seconds before asking a single question to the children: "Listen, you've said that you've been here for months. What have you been eating? "

Vasilyan cast a skeptical look upon Raven as he sees her tries to feel their pulses. Then, realizing what the half-elven mercenary has thought, he closes his eyes for a second. Erastil, please, tell me that she's wrong...

Vasilyan smiles calmly at the children and moves closer very slowly in order to don't alarm them. "We mean no harm" he whispers reassuringly. He couches next to them. "We just want to help. Tells us, why are you here?"

Vasilyan widens his eyes as soon as the boy shows up from behind the wall ahead of him. What the... Incredulous, Vasilyan cannot help but shout at the boy: "Hey! Come back here! We mean no harm!" He shakes his head and focus on his inner soul. Taking a few steps forward, Vasilyan channels the strenght of his god into his mind and when he opens the eyes again, he carefully scans the area in front of him searching for the lingering aura of the boy. Sometimes one's aura tells you much more about a person than she would admit with her words...

Remaining focused, Vasilyan steps behind Raven and puts a hand on her shoulder. "I don't know what you've done, but it seems like it worked" Even though I can't still manage to explain that boy... "We should go now" adds Vasilyan trying to press the other to move forward down the corridor. "That boy might be a trap" he remarks quite neutrally, "But still his sudden appearance unsettles me. We need to find him" And of course fall in their trap, I know...

Vasilyan activates his detect evil ability as a move action and uses his second move action to move in front of the wall, trying to detect any presence of evil in the boy's aura if he's in time. Otherwise, he would try and analyze the possible lingering aura.

Vasilyan casts a sarcastic gaze upon Raven. "And since when do you give orders to me?" he says with a relaxed tone, revealing that his harsh words are nothing but a joke. The Brevic man smirks at Raven once again before drawing his longbow and extracting an arrow from his quiver. "One can never know" he says then, shrugging his shoulders.

"I'll go last" he says in his gruff voice.

I'm sorry for the delay in my posting, but I though I had posted. Indeed, I did post one day ago, but it seems like Paizo ate my post. I'll make sure it won't happen again :)

Vasilyan listens to the priestess' account attentively and nods several times in agreement with the priestess. "I think we got enough information, thank you Priestess Valanthe" answers Vasilyan with a bow as the woman completes her speech. "I'm ready when you are" he says to his new allies, a confident smile on his face.

"It's fine" agrees Vasilyan with a nod, taking a look at his next allies. I hope they can fend for themselves...I've never seen two elves together in the same room in my entire life. The Swordlords must have some weird plan brewing in their minds...

"We'll meet again tomorrow, then. It's been a pleasure to make your acquiescence" says respectfully Vasilyan with a bow before exiting the room.

This still sounds strange to me...What does this Solicitor wants from us, and from me in particular? Why was I chosen, among everyone else? I guess I could spend the whole day thinking about it without making heads or tails of this thing. It's like trying to get blood out of a stone. I guess I'll just wait and see what the lies ahead...

Since I don't want to flood the Gameplay Thread with our own individual scene, Raven, I would like to let you know that Vasilyan has agreed on your plan :D

Expedition to the Stolen Lands?

Vasilyan almost chokes on his drink as the Solicitor mentions the "expedition". What does that mean? He would have wanted to stand up and ask for a number of questions immediately, but seeing that the man is eager to continue his speech, he regains his composure and pays attention to his words.

Tsk, pedrigree of lineage or banditry...I have both he thinks ironically as the man speaks.

When the Godsmouth Ossuary is mentioned, Vasilyan nods. He had heard a lot of brevic nobles bragging about the huge number of dead relatives they had in that reputable ossuary. He had never cared too much about it. His ways were far more simple and cold, as those of his strict family.

When he has heard the entire proposal, Vasilyan takes a few seconds to carefully consider his options. I've come back, but I refused to take on my rightful duties as a landlord. So I need something to do. And this could actually be something good.

"I'm in," he says right after, "Pharasma makes cradles for us all. We all need to pay The Lady of the Graves back eventually, and this seems just like a good chance to do that."

"I've got several questions for you, Mr. Solicitor. Many of them concern the expedition you've been talking about. But I suppose there will be another time for those. For now, I just want to know if we will be allowed to enforce the law as emissaries of our country during the course of our endeavour. You know, my life has taught me that when someone goes missing there's nothing good ahead. Are we authorised to capture or kill the possible responsible?"

Vasilyan smiles as he hears Raven's concerns for her relatives. She's a good girl...And cares for her family. I won't be failing her he thinks as he nods and answers, "I'm sure we can arrange something Raven. Velinstadt is a rather safe place to stay, I agree. I'll see if I can write a letter for them, so that they can take it with them and show it when they'll arrive. I'll do everything I can to ensure their safety". That said, Vasilyan sits next to the half-elf, fills her glass and his own, in this order, before toasting to her relatives' safety. "Although these lands are far more dangerous than I remembered, Raven. I fear that the travel could be risky for them. Maybe we can escort them to Velinstadt together. But first let's hear what this Solicitor wants from us" he whispers.

Vasilyan widens his eyes as he notices Raven among the guests. Wait, why is she here? He smiles at the girl, but his smile soon turns into a sneer as Raven greets him potraying his old village as a filthy mudhole. "I suppose you're referring to Velinstadt, Mrs. Sirkas". His sneer turns into a smile again, but there's something in his tone revealing his hard to conceal irritation. Vasilyan gains his composure again quickly though, excusing the girl for her offending comment. After all, he didn't expected nothing different from her. But at least she's honest, and respects her pacts...Rare commodity, nowadays, he thinks to himself as he moves closer to Raven.

"Well, I've left Velinstadt several years ago, milady", answers Vasilyan, intentionally remarking his last word. "The first gift you ever receive is your family. A man grows from the seeds his parents plant. I had to return to my own family", says Vasilyan citing the Parables of Erastil.

"And what you tell me about you, milady? I thought you were crushing troll skulls somewhere in the River Kingdoms. What brings you to Brevoy?"

Vasilyan took a deep breath. It had been a very long travel to Rostland after his one year long stay at his family's castle in the Gronzi Forest. The land was still the same. But the people, the people were very different compared to what he remembered. I've been away for such a long time... he thought to himself. Words of civil war, uprising and rebellion has escalated quickly. When he left, King Urzen Rogarvia sat firmly on the Dragonscale Throne. Now, a new Regent King had been proclaimed: King Noleski Surtova. So many things have changed...But this is still my homeland.

He had been rather cryptically summoned to attend a private meeting aboard a strange tavern-boat on the Shrike River by someone known only as "The Solicitor". As he arrives at the moor of the Barge Wright Inn, Vasilyan grins as he sees two stryggling men shouting at each other. Surtovans and anti-surtovans I suppose...This does not bode well at all. I thought these arguments would have been far less heated here in the south. Well, Solicitor, I hope you're not wasting my time here...

Vasilyan approaches the barge-turned-bar moored on the bank of the Shrike. When he sees the small stable set back a ways from the river, Vasilyan smirks as he sighs. That sight reminded him of his missing mount. I should buy another horse as soon as possible...Traveling on foot is pleasant, but it slows me down...

After jumping aboard the barge, Vasilyan listens intently to the large grizzled man with an eye patch welcoming him. "Think you, I..." tries to answer Vasilyan before the man's attention gets suddenly claimed by someone else. White and Red...Are these the colours of the civil war? Without waiting for the man to come back, Vasilyan makes his way in the back room.

"This is a feast fit for a king" says Vasilyan as soon as he enters the room and sees the plentiful banquet. Only then he realizes that there are several other people in the room. He bows a single time, trying to respect the proper etiquette: the education he received in the court still had its advantages.

"Vasilyan Medvyed, it's a pleasure to make your acquiescence ladies and gentlemen" he says politely, as he takes a sit and rests his bow on the table. He shakes Arisl'arial hand firmly. "I'm here for the same reason myself, Mrs. Tathmir. I must admit that the invitation was rather...cryptical"
