Rubbing her chin along the length of the bird on her shoulder while longing for the simplicity of the city. Never thought I would miss that.

Not bad just really busy and this weekend won't be much better. I am the GM for my group and picked a crazy amount of work for the campaign, cause I don't like simple. As to sleep last night was the first night in like a month I got a solid eight hours of uninterrupted sleep. It was magical!

Keeping quiet among the wolves as this is not her area of knowing and the others are talking about a stone head. Which is odd but if this forest is as important as it was alluded to then it should be interesting.

Looking from the now still head to the revived dwarf. Finally speaking for the first time since the spiders, "What in the Hell's was that?"

The stone head is a weird thing. And sorry this weekend was really busy.

Starting to move towards, close enough that Valrah can crawl under his armor.

mwk earthbreaker + haste: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 1 = 20

Valrah will use Rebuke Death. Which heals someone under 0 health for 1d4+2. and she can do it up to 5 times a day.

Grinning at the strong licorice taste hits her tongue again. Lifting her maul and swinging it at the nearest spider.

Vael had moved to stand over the now very dead Bedlam so I guess his large spider is her target unless the big momma one is available.

Oh I am aware this campaign is very lethal. But Vael moved over Bedlam and she would not regret that move. While Valrah has spare the dying, which is why the move was made.

Growling when Bedlam drops, she really should not travel with dwarves. Lifting her maul and then lowering it instead to attempt to move to Bedlam at the little bite on her ribs. Sighing when the menace starts to move.

If Valrah gives her guidance I can make the 16 so she wants to move to stand over Bedlam so Valrah can give him Rebuke Death next round. As I realize I don't have anymore lay on hands and apparently no cure potions.

Groaning and taking a breath while trying to focus on the sun she cannot see. But there is that little bird tucked into her armor and that is a close thing. Exhaling with a sigh as a little of her injury's start to mend. Lifting her earthbreaker again

You know that makes sense. I fail at reading is all... Was there damage from the bite? And did we get AoO's when the spiders moved in?

Much as she wants to be free of the webbing that would leave Bedlam and Talathel alone in the swarm of spiders. "Do we all want to stay here and leave the other three out there?"

I would love to have a string of good luck. No idea what I would do with it though.

We have various weapon though out our house. The issue was that someone made it in when I was at work, two people were out, and only one adult with the two sleeping kids.

And my spirit animal is a koala named Murphy, for Murphy's Law.

Sorry my posts seem to keep being eaten...

Keeping quiet though the trip and opting to simply listen to others plan. Burning everything down seems like a valid idea though controlling a fire of that size seems like a impossible task... But that is a lot of spiders.

Keeping quiet and as out of the way during the events leading up to the ceremony as she can. Feeling a little surprised to be pulled off to the side along with the others and accepting the thanks with a quiet mutter, "Of course. I am glad it helped."

Happily diving into the provided alcohol. But only enough to get a mild buzz instead of staggering around in drunken stupor. That road always leads to the same place. Passed on on the ground somewhere with a pissed off bird screaming in her ear.

It is still up to DM interpretation and Deities are always gonna be a little hard. I had no issue with Valrah wanting Vael to try again. The birdy is kind of her moral compass as Vael would be more likely to abuse the rules to get away with being a jerk. I am wanting her to get over that.

Failing over over stepping is an easy way to piss off a god. And Vael can still easily work towards that. For one the Rough Beast is mentioned in the paladin and she is doing nothing about that. My code says "I am fair with others. I expect nothing for myself but that which I need to survive." So greed in nearly any form is a bad thing. Vael is awkward and gruff so she is not likely to try to convert people even though her code demands it. On one hand it says I am to avoid death, as I cannot keep doing my duty, but on the other hand it says I mush lay my life down for my allies. So that is any easy one to mess up in.

If you have other rules you want to add something you are more than welcome to throw ideas my way.

I get that. I mentioned a little reluctance about the whole Sarenrae thing because of how merciless she can be. Out of all the LG Deities she is the hardest to deal with for some people. The whole needing to offer redemption and but it is redemption or death is really hard core.

But Abadar demands things like protection for people on the road. In the case of bandits, and they are mentioned specifically, they are to be taken to face legal judgment but if that is not an option you are the judge.

Erastil says nothing of killing prisoners but you are to do whatever necessary to protect your community

Iomedea is all about being in war and knowing the weight of their swords. Also you are to never be taken prisoner, even if you have to take your own life. And it is a death before dishonor kind of thing.

Shelyn are to never strike first, expect to protect the innocent, and to try the rose option before a blade. Concerning surrender, I have the Inner Sea Gods book, it says "I accept surrender if my opposite can be redeemed - and I never assume they cannot be. All things that live love beauty, and I will show beauty's answer to them" I find Shelyen the hardest to roleplay.

Torag's thing says "Against my peoples enemies, I will show no mercy. I will not allow their surrender, except when strategy warrants. I will defeat them, yet even in the direst struggle, I will act in a way that brings honor to Torag."

I picked up the book to get better info, since I run really interactive Deities.

But Torag and Sarenrae are both rather brutal in there views on things.

Denying them the offer of the blindfolds so she can try to see any truth or falsehoods in their eyes. Glaring at the man who cannot seem to lie to save his life and moving to grab his hair. Tugging his head to show his neck so that she slice though.

Stepping back and ignoring the river of blood running down her blade and looking at the other two, "I do hope you mean what you say and can abide by it because I will not be so gentle if we have to be here again."

Turing and looking at Anzath, "That was my other idea. Put them to work. If it will make the locals feel better I will pay to have manacles made so they can do less damage if their words are false."

No I was intending to give a speech similar to that regardless of your ruling. And as I understand it someone dies and they enter the soul stream and from there it is off to the Boneyard and they face judgment at her hand. She sends souls were they belong.

There are creatures guarding that steam and creatures that try to capture that stream. And in that case of Hell or the Abyss. Those are not nice places. Pretty much any plane that gets a new soul remakes them as Petitioners and in the case of Hell they are forever the play thing for Devils. At least that is what it says.

As I understand it it takes a truly evil person to become a Demon or Devil, even the weak ones, after death.

With any luck that is a middle ground.

I suppose I should explain how I view alignments, specifically Law and Good.

To me Law is following a strict code. Be it the law of the city, church, or a personal code. In the case of the Paladin they are bound by the law of their chosen Deity. But if they come against the legal law and that conflicts with their code then the code is the correct decision.

Good does not mean nice. It means, at least to me, trying to do the right thing. This one is a little more convoluted. Doing the right thing could be killing these people to insure the town survives. Generals send people into battle and know many of them will not come home, that they will die and it is not likely to be a painless death. But they still do it.

Regret is a big part of this alignment. Vael would kill each one of them but she would regret it. She would feel that she could have done more. Maybe said something different in that fight that could have changed their minds. But ultimately those people chose to stand against her and she cannot keep trying to be Good if she falls again. He Goddess says to offer mercy and redemption but if that offer is rebuked then she is to offer them the mercy of the sword and the redemption of death.

Her well used scimitar has an inscription on the blade. "When I life this sword I wish that this poor sinner will receive eternal life." I picked that one because I liked the idea and it fit with how I view Paladins.

I do not like the girl/boy scout idea. For a more modern example people compare Paladins to Marvels Captain America. He went to war and made an multi-racial unit despite the social standard. He did everything he could just to get to fight even though war is blood and you have to kill people. He broke the law and went into hiding when the law contradicted his views so dramatically. He stood by his code. So I do think is his a paladin. The law does not matter only the code.

I have had paladin's swear, execute prisoners, visit brothels, ect. The thing that matters is they they adhere to the word of their Deity.

On that note I would like to buy a masterwork morning star from the blacksmith

Shaking her head and mumbling, "That is not asking, it is begging out of fear. Things like this are not always honest. But you are her will so I shall ask again."

Walking up to stand next to Anzath and looking over the collection of soldiers. Letting her anger bubble to the surface. Anger over their wrong doings. Crossing her arms, "You all were offered the chance to repent and you chose to fight. You had the time it took to get here to try to repent and only now when you know with absolute certainty that you will die are you willing to beg for a second chance."

Taking a breath and letting some of the venom leave her voice, "I rarely allow for more than one chance so you are rather lucky. But you need to convince me. You need to swear on your eternal soul. You have to swear to Sarenrae, the goddess of redemption, that you will never raise a weapon outside of hunting a beast for food or in self defense. Your time as soldiers is over. Battle and blood are forever forsworn. Your lives of violence is at an end. You are the people to be protected not the protectors. No more blood and no more violence."

Moving her hand to the pommel of her blade, "I am one of the many bladed arms of the Dawnflower and should you falter in this. Should you waiver in the slightest. She will point me towards you and death will not stop me from finding you and sending you to your final judgment. If you beg I will kill you. But if you can abide by this then speak now or offer your complaints to the Lady of the Graves."

Sarenerae's Paladin oath mentions that. "I will redeem the ignorant with my words and my actions, if they will not turn towards the light I will redeem them by the sword."

Sarenrae is big on redemption but if you refuse that offer then you are excepting judgment for your sins. They had the chance to do the right thing and they choose blood. Vael was all for killing them in the fight. And Sarenrae says nothing against killing prisoners. Torag actually says to not take them.

Good does not mean nice. People promise all sorts of things in fear and those words tend to be hollow. Anzath makes a really good point. If they leave this town will suffer because those men have no reason to mean what they say. And have proven that they will follow their orders be for all else.

I will give the DM a chance to respond before I post as I feel that Vael feels that she is following her code.

Quieting listening and watching everyone seem to have any issue with the order. Not bothering to say anything but trailing behind Anzath, "You gonna kill all of them yourself?

Nothing in her voice says she is objecting, they had their chance. And none of them were smart enough to flee.

Quietly moving along with her new companions and keeping just a step off to the side. Tucking into a set on the ferry and trying to take up as little space as possible. Letting out a small sigh when the familiar town comes into view. Food and a bath dance in her mind.

Paying little attention to the others and any greetings, those will come if she returns to the temple. Or just builds a hut in the woods and gets a puppy.

Happily digging into her meal and savoring the one mug of mead she allows herself, she did die after all.

Am I understanding that the mayor wants us to kill the people we brought here?
