Hey folks!

Was just starting to read through Interstellar Species PDF when I noticed something peculiar in the Evolutionist class section.

In the class overview (pg 10) it lists Class Skills as being gained at 8 + Int Modifier per level.

But a few pages over under the Flexible Skill heading (pg 12) it says at level 9 "your skill ranks per evolutionist level increase to 5 + your Intelligence modifier.".

So, anyone have any idea whats going on with this?

Am I misunderstanding something or do we have a bona fide typo?

For the love of Sarenrae could we just get all the Pathfinder 2 Rulebooks under one heading in Digital Assets. There really is no reason that a customer should have to bounce between 3 separate headings, which are spaced quite far apart, to find the books they have purchased.

Thx.

Yeah, I figured that's what I'll have to end up doing. I was just hoping there was some information given on what the process was for assigning Item Levels. So far I haven't really tried converting any weapons, just trying to get a handle on how Item Levels and the equipment stats intersect before I really get going.

Hey Folks. I was checking out the SF rulebooks recently and decided it would be fun to add some weapons from PF1 into SF. It didn’t take me long before I ran into a mental roadblock on how to assign Item Levels and determine Prices. I was wondering has Paizo released any information on how Item Levels are assigned as well as how to determine cost for converted or created weapons?

Hey folks!

Recently, I started thinking about making a new Spellslinger based around a Wizard with Spellslinger archetype at Level 1 and then using Arcane Bloodline Sorceror for the remaining levels. During the creation I had developed some questions regarding Arcane Bond which I researched. Through the research there seemed to be 3 facts regarding Wiz/Sorc Arcane Bond.

1. You can't have an Arcane Bond and Familiar
2. You can't have 2 Arcane Bonds ( 1 from Wiz and 1 from Sorceror Arcane Bloodline)
3. The effects for the Arcane Bond for Wiz/Sorceror "stack" with each other.

Point number 3 is where my question comes into play. As a Spellslinger my Arcane Bond is replaced by the Arcane Gun feature. So, when I get the Arcane Bond ability from the Arcane Bloodline Sorceror, does this mean that my Arcane Gun will be able to have one Sorceror spell stored in it as a free cast like a normal Arcane Bonded object would?

Appreciate any thoughts on this and thanks in advance.

Hey folks!

Was just reading a bit in the Beta Bestiary and noticed the Hazards Statistics (Table 2) on page 12 had a column for Good Save and Bad Save. I wa wondering what exactly do they mean by Good Save?

Thanks in advance.

The ways the rules are written it seems that if you are not a caster you are probably S.O.L. when it comes to casting spells from wands.

“To cast a spell from a wand, you must have the spell on your spell list and be able to use the spellcasting actions listed in the spell’s entry.“ Pg 380

Hey Folks!

Was taking a look at my Spellslinger recently and came up with the idea of using more Gunslinger feats with it. This lead me to take a look at the Grit Feats and the Deft Shootist Deed in particular

The Deft Shootist Deed seems like a good way to get away from AOOs and made me wonder : could this feat be used by a Spellslinger who was casting a spell through their arcane gun to avoid the normal spell attack of opportunity that would occur?

Look forward to seeing what you all think.

Thanks.

There is some information in Gateway to the East that wasn't repeated or expanded upon in Jewel of the East, but I wouldn't consider it necessary.

If you've got the cash, I'd definitely get both, but the information in the earlier product might be a bit dated.

Thanks, good to know.

Good Afternoon!!

I was planning a little mini-campaign for me and my son and I wanted to head through the area of Qadira. So, after looking up books in the store I came across both the Campaign Setting for Qadira and a Companion book for Qadira.

My question is this if I pick up the Qadira Campaign Setting book (Jewel of the East) would it be beneficial to also pick up the Companion Book (Gateway to the East)or would this Companion information already be included in the Campaign Setting.

Thanks in advance.

Hey folks!

I know I’ve seen this info before, but for the life of me I can’t find it again. Anyone remember or have heard what will the final 1e Pathfinder source/rulebook be?

Thanks!

I'm hoping they keep a nat 20 as a critical hit. But I imagine that crit range is going away, as are confirmation rolls.

And, to clarify for anyone who didn't hear the podcast, it sounds like if you fail by 10 or more it's a critical failure, whereas if your check is 10 or more above the DC it's a critical success (this goes for both skill checks and attack rolls.)

Definitely won’t mind seeing confirmation roles going away. Did like Starfinder’s solution to it. Roll a 20 = crit threat, then if your total roll (20+modifiers) is greater than the target’s ac its a crit. If you’re under the AC its still a hit. No second roll needed.

As for crit range, i could see that surviving by varying the amount over the target check needed for the crit. Standard crit = 10 over target, 19-20 crit range could equal 9 over target.

Just listened to the Glasscannon Podcast and I was wondering does the new less than 10 = Critical Miss and greater than 10 = Critical Hit replace the old Fumble =1 and Critical Threat=20 or does it give another avenue to attain Critical Misses (fumbles) and Critical Hits?

Quick question about the PDF version of the Starfinder Core Pawns. Is there any way to get rid of the red outlines on the pawns?

I keep seeing mentions of this FAQ , yet I can't seem to find it. Where is it?

Of course, some of those questions won't apply to the Pathfinder RPG, but it's still interesting to look at.

Thanks everyone appreciate all the help. Definitely clears some Monkish things up for me.

So you seem smart:) Here's another question for you. When using FOB do you suffer the two-weapons fighting penalties (in this case -2/-2 at levl 1) as well or does the FOB replace the Two Weapon Fighting penalties ( and we are using monk weapons for this).

A level 1 monk holding two monk weapons has two, or maybe three options:

  • Use TWF only. Then he can make one attack with his primary hand at -2 and one off-hand attack at -2.
  • Use a flurry of blows. Then he can make two attacks at -2/-2; either attack (or both) can be made with either weapon he's holding.
  • Use TWF and a flurry of blows. At least the 3.5 FAQ says that is possible. Then he would make a flurry of blows at -4/-4 and an additional off-hand attack at -4 (since the flurry and TWF penalties stack).

So just for fun, lets say this Monk doesn't have the Two Weapons Fighting Feat. If he used the FOB and TWF in your example then his penalties would be -6/-6 for the FOB and then -10 for the offhand TWF?

Actually they don't suffer twf penalties when using flurry of blows with or without weapons. However a monk could use flurry and twf to gain yet another attack but would most certainly suffer the penalties (and the off hand str difference) in 3.5.

This is one use of the rules we just stay away from hehehe. Too dang confusing. Hoping this gets some serious clarification in the final edition.

Hey folks!

Trying to figure out this whole Monk thing and noticed something strange in the description for Flurry of Blows in the manual. The manual states that at levl 5 the penalty for FoB goes to -1 and at level 9 goes to 0. Yet when I look at table 4-8 it shows that the penalty goes to -1 at levl 2. Also when you get to levl 9 its showing +6/+6/+1 for # of attacks and bonuses.

So, my question is which is right. The table or the text, or am I missing some key information somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

At level 2, the flurry penalty is -2 but a monk has +1 BAB, so the total attack bonus is -1 (excluding any other bonuses).

But at level 5, the flurry penalty is -1 and a monk has +3 BAB, so the total attack bonus is +2 (excluding any other bonuses).

Is it clear as mud yet? :-)

Actually that did clear something up. I wasn't aware that the BAB they were showing was already calculated into the FOB column. They should really adjust that so that FOB column shows the unmodified FOB penalties only.

So you seem smart:) Here's another question for you. When using FOB do you suffer the two-weapons fighting penalties (in this case -2/-2 at levl 1) as well or does the FOB replace the Two Weapon Fighting penalties ( and we are using monk weapons for this).

WOO HOO!!! 2nd Post!!!!

So, workin with a Gnome character here. I notice that Gnome Magic gives me a specific set of 4 level 0 spells that I can cast once per day. The question: can I cast all of those spells only once per day or can I cast just one of these four spells once a day.

Looking forward to some clarification.:)

When wizard announced that they're planning on making electronic versions of their book available to those who bought the physical book, no matter where they bought it, all for "the price of a cup of coffee", I thought that was the right idea. Of course, they were lying through their teeth and don't even offer PDFs any more, but that's beside the point.

When Wizards announced that, we were excited, because we'd been trying to figure out a reasonable way to do it for ages, and we were hoping that they'd somehow cracked the impossible nut, and we could learn something from their implementation. Of course, when they ended up saying they couldn't actually figure out a good way to do it, we weren't too surprised. But the things is, it appears that Wizards and Paizo are both in the same place on that—we both want to do it, but we can't come up with a reasonable way to do it. If you have some new ideas, please share them in one of the many existing threads on the topic.

KaeYoss wrote:
The lack of such an option hurts those who want to support their FLGS...

True. And that's actually the answer to why we don't give free PDFs out to people who buy the print copies from paizo.com outside of a subscription—doing so would severely undercut FLGSs. Subscriptions are one thing, and many FLGSs kind of understand that, but if we offered a free PDF to anybody who buys from paizo.com, and couldn't offer it to anybody who buys it through the FLGS, FLGSs would—quite rightfully—be pretty cheesed off at us for doing so.

Again, if you have new ideas about how to handle this, please post them in one of the other threads—I don't want to derail this one with that discussion.

Here's a thought. In copies of the books you print, say on the inside cover. Have a unique serial number printed in each copy of the book that is coated with some of that lottery ticket scratch off ink. The number can be used once and once only to receive a free PDF for that corresponding book. If the idea of printing in the book becomes tricky, just have it printed on a special card sealed within the book by shrink wrap. With the card approach you wouldn't even need the scratch off ink.

End result customers can get the free PDF's. FLGSs and other sales partners would sell these books with codes so they would suffer no harm. Seems simple to me:)
