(Your Name Here)

Merlan rides forward, no longer at an all out-pace, but still trying to close the distance to bring his magic to bear. Squeaky continues to fly forward, hoping his small size and altitude keep him safe.

Double move instead of a run -- dex bonuses to AC are your friend, now

(Your Name Here)

Merlan completes his summoning spell and moves up, conjuring an Earth Elemental to attack the creature's rear, flanking with Kruss, before firing another shot from his wand.

Slam (Earth Mastery, Flanking): 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 21 for 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7

Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

(Your Name Here)

Noting the success of everyone's attacks, Costin repeats his hex, once again pressing his will down on the Landshark's... and then cackling for good effect, to keep the beast distracted.

Will (Landshark): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Success - evil eye reduced to 1 round, then cackled up to 2

(Your Name Here)

Costin moves up, taking a position next to Lysander, gathering his will as he does, then throws a hex at the giant beast, hoping to weaken its impressive defenses.

Move up, evil eye (-2 AC)

(Your Name Here)

The light level returns to normal, and Xia says, "The darkness seems to be on an item in the cupboard.... So I closed it. Could probably take it out, but I don't like the idea of feeling around blindly."

(Your Name Here)

Xia coughs, then smiles weakly at Sahar, "Think I hate this place. Kind of want to kill the alchemist again."

She stands, swaying on her feet, before sitting back down on the bed, "Maybe I'll just rest here a minute "

(Your Name Here)

Xia looks confused fora moment as she tries to watch Sahar's mouth, then nods and hands the wand to Sahar, "Used the last spell on Fiona."

(Your Name Here)

Xia looks back and forth, trying to see mouths, then says, "I can pick the lock, or try. I even have tools." With that, she heads to the locked door, carefully sidestepping the tripwire as does.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

After about 20 seconds of work she steps back and pulls the door open.

(Your Name Here)

Lani does not stop walking, but tries to respond, however, the chorus is not in agreement, "No. Can you prove what you are (We do not answer to you) mortal?"

(Your Name Here)

Lani repeats, the chorus harsh, "It is none of your concern.". A heartbeat passes before she speaks again, the softer voices in the lead again, "This one's bonds are severed."

She then turns and resumes walking.

(Your Name Here)

Lani stops for a moment, looks over her shoulder, and the chorus of voices says only, "We will not be bound." Strangely, some of the voices in the chorus have a cool, even tone, while others are clearly angry, or afraid. She takes another step, but then stops again, the blend of voices in the chorus different than before, with softer voices in the lead and the harsher ones less prominent, though still present, "This one erred, and is once more part of the chorus."

With that, she continues to walk away, ignoring her mount and the gear stored on it.

(Your Name Here)

As Merlan examines Lani, her eyes open -- though, Merlan notes with surprise, the irises are a deep yellow rather than green. She opens her mouth to speak, and as was the case when facing the alchemist, a chorus of voices emerges, "No. Keep your feeble magics away.". She pushes the halfling as she rises to her feet, scanning the area before locking her attention on Fiona -- or, rather, the beheaded figure behind her. She begins to slowly walk across the field, ignoring her companions as she walks, finally placing both hands on the headless corpse, then the chorus of voices speaks with clear malice, "Арды будуць піць тваю душу."

She stands again, and begins to look around until her gaze again locks, this time to the Northeast, and she once again begins to walk, wordlessly, in that direction.

Abyssal:

"The hoardes will drink your soul."

(Your Name Here)

Perception (Xia): 1d20 ⇒ 19 Wow, way to rock the +0

The same voice whispers, "Orc's hand was just cut off..."

(Your Name Here)

Lani's chorus growls in frustration, the sound a cacophany, but the other voices grow slightly quieter, leaving Lani's voice dominant for a moment. She looks around quickly scanning, and seeing the mass around the enlarged Fiona, raises her crossbow, firing at the southern (red) eagle -- the bolt causing it to explode in a cloud of brimstone smoke and feathers.

Crossbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 for: 1d6 ⇒ 5

(Your Name Here)

Lani pops up from behind the fountain, a ball of ice in her hand and hurls it at the Tiefling, the chorus of voices laughing, "Ваш жаласны заклён не можа спыніць гэтага."

Snowball (Ranged Touch, Point Blank): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 1 = 25 Threat
Confirm?: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20 Yup.

Critical Hit: 8d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 3, 5, 4, 5, 3) + 2 = 32

While the tiefling's flesh resists some of the cold, the ice cuts deep, tearing away mutated scales.

Abyssal:

Your pathetic spell cannot stop this.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Xia's eyes open and she starts to struggle against the mud holding her in place, before taking a moment to center herself, and instead silently casting a spell.

Bless; +1 morale bonus to hit for everyone in a 50' burst from Xia

(Your Name Here)

Constitution (DC 22): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

(Your Name Here)

Lani darts forward, narrowly avoiding a spike trap, as she brings the tiefling into range of her other spells.

Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

(Your Name Here)

Constitution (DC 21): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

(Your Name Here)

The chorus of voices in Lani's throat all laugh, their tones and timbers different, creating a cacophany, before she demands, "И како планираш да ме зауставиш? ", and sends another flight of magical darts at the tiefling. This time, however, they explode before they reach her, the energy briefly illuminating the invisible disc that stopped them. The tiefling laughs and responds, "Тачно тако."

Lani opens her mouth again, and this time you clearly hear her voice -- not alone, but the loudest in the chorus, "She's got a shield."

Abyssal:

Lani: "And how do you plan to stop me?"
Tiefling: "Exactly like that"

(Your Name Here)

Constitution (Stabilize) - DC 20: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

(Your Name Here)

Lani dances out from behind cover, and speaks in a gravelly voice -- or rather, two or three voices at the same time, "Ови ти не припадају. Они су моји.", raising her hand and casting a spell, launching her darts of force at the fiendish female.

Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2, 4) + 3 = 11

Abyssal:

"These ones don't belong to you. They are mine."

(Your Name Here)

Lani pulls back her hand and casts her spell a second time, hurling another snowball at the Drake.

Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 for 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4) = 15

Wow. That's a nice roll, especially since it's vulnerable... Good thing there's no -4 for firing into melee!

The snowball strikes the Drake in the head, the ice shattering into jagged shards on impact, tearing into the dragon's flesh and bone. The creature rocks on its claws for a moment, before falling backward onto its back, one of its wings folding and snapping below its dead weight.

(Your Name Here)

Magic Missile (Readied): 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 2 = 7

Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Lani leaps away from the blast, sparing herself the worst of it, only slightly scorched from the heat. She raises her hands and casts another spell, then hurls an icy snowball at the Drake.

Ranged Touch (Snowball): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 for 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5) = 9

Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20

The Drake howls as the snowball hits, and Lani's eyes widen, "I was right! It's vulnerable to cold!"

(Your Name Here)

Lani keeps moving around the spell, trying to rejoin her companions.

(Your Name Here)

Xia moves forward and readies to throw a flask of acid at any dinosaur bigger than Squeaky that closes within 20'.

(Your Name Here)

Fiona moves up to keep close to Lysander and Sahar, trying to form a line against the incoming.

(Your Name Here)

Ride: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Lani's pony starts to bolt, but she quickly grabs the bridle and reins before it can... The pony tosses its head a few times, but the act of being led seems to calm it, and it eventually settles in next to Sharisa.

(Your Name Here)

Today, the role of Lani will be played by...

Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13

Lani rides on, happy to talk with Merlan and Xia as they go.

LOL I forgot about the weight of sling bullets!

trade off for not having to carry a clumsy crossbow around I guess. ;)

And I think the masterwork backpack actually helps with the weight? A little? (Not 'helps' like a Handy Haversack will, but lessens the impact by a few lbs? I have to go look it up again) ;P

EDIT- Found it, Master work backpack allows you to calculate your carrying capacity as if your STR was +1 higher than actual. Only for carrying stuff :) (Hey, every little bit helps!)

It was factored into the carrying capacity shown here.

Yes, lets trade linguistics for Craft: Alchemy for now (I was missing the extra language)
WHen I start 'traveling more' I will likely add linguistics to pick up more languages. :)

Done. I also swapped out Weasly for Squeaky, as you asked. I think I got it right - it's annoying to have to move skill ranks and saves and stuff around (by hand, anyway.. Trust you to pick the one familiar that was put into an AP and then not republished in B2-5 or UW).

(Your Name Here)

Right, so I've changed the opposition school and swapped a spell for colour spray (because, well, it's useful). You still have 20-odd gold, so you could buy one more spell if you wanted vanish or minor image.

At the moment, your single level of Slayer gets you a bunch of weapon/armour proficiencies and class skills (including perception and stealth) - as well as the aforementioned studied combat -- that is to say, the concept you described seems to really benefit from the dip to a martial class (I'd hate to think of the traits/feats we'd need otherwise), even if you don't go EK.

I would also say that at low levels, armour isn't necessarily worth it for a wizard because mage armour is basically a "perfect" chain shirt - AAT really starts becoming useful when you have the wealth for +2 or +3 armour (or go to Mastery and wear medium). That said, often overlooked (especially at low levels) is the shield proficiency -- it's relatively easy to to have a shield that doesn't take up your hand and that has a 0% Arcane Failure - even without Arcane Armour Training. Plus, having a shield on your arm can often make intelligent foes who want to splat the mage first not identify you as such right away. (Start casting spells, though, and all bets are off..)

Another thing I should flag is that you currently have a vanilla familiar (at effective level 3 thanks to your FC bonus) - you could, however, apply an archetype to the familiar (like pilferer) - that would make it more of a wee little sneak/steal guy.

Anyhow, as I said before, tweaks are easy now that it's built - a full rebuild, obviously, would take longer.

And, of course, once you're happy with the build and fill in all the details that make him colourful and flashy and all that, I'll send you into the vault for a lootbag, and then also give you an afternoon for shopping with your signing bonus (edit: it's not a singing bonus, ain't none of you bards).

(Your Name Here)

Rags - take a look at this. I didn't get you Arcane Armour Training (yet), but started you toward the happy fun place of Augmented Summoning. Because I didn't buy you armour, I spent your (slayer) starter gold on spells for your spellbook.

I'll need to change your opposition schools (personally, I love False Life too much to ever oppose necro -- but then, mirror image is very hard to give up).

Anyhow, you're built with the magical knack trait that bumps your caster level by up to 2 -- so while you memorize like a level 2 wizard, your spells have the punch of a level 3 -- and if you do go EK, it'll offset that other lost level as well.

I'm rather assuming your level 4 bump is going to int and 8 to con. ;)

That said, as an EK, it's true - your school powers don't go up, and you don't auto-learn a spell when you gain your level (unless you're a spontaenous caster) -- but, really, you're a prepared caster. You'll likely collect spellbooks from foes, and worst case, it'll just cost you a handful of gold to have someone teach you another spell. Of course, in exchange, you get full BAB and d10 hp -- and some bonus feats -- basically, it's a trade-off rather than getting everything.

Either way, take a look. Tweaks can be made, as needed.

This is Tilnar - my hedge/herb witch character is linked to this (variable) alias (I've got too many orphaned characters, so I'm trying to avoid new aliases unless necessary).

Sidius is "all-in" on the idea of rebellion, and not the wisest -- but he's a battlefield control/healing caster - with evil eye to debuff ;)

Anyhow, happy to answer any questions or take any feedback, also.

Fergus grits his teeth against the magical attack, feeling the sound grip his mind and chill his heart, Not again.., he thinks as he feels the fear take him. Need to end that thing so it can't do that again.., he thinks, and heads quickly to the monk's side, toward the source of his fear, swinging his greataxe as he closes.

Will: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 1 = 11 Failed, shaken.

Greataxe: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 1 - 2 = 13 -2 shaken for 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Jinx looks at the others, They're so very trusting..., then mentally shrugs. "That sounds wonderful."

(Your Name Here)

Jinx suggests, "The rainwater certainly won't hurt any more than the vomit or midden-waters. Let's make use of Gozreh's gift to cover our escape and wash the filth from ourselves."

(Your Name Here)

Jinx chuckles, "I'm not sure why, based on what we've experienced, we'd think the room of flying objects will be easy to deal with..."

(Your Name Here)

As a side note, Jinx didn't fall into a hole (nor did I) -- just, given that she's going to be leaving and replaced by someone else, I didn't quite have a good way to have her say "On second thought, now that I'm here, no.." -- I was thinking of having her suggest that she'd go try to get more information from the inside or the militia or something, but I also didn't want to have Bardigan's aunt suddenly killed.

(Your Name Here)

Jinx looks over Rexus' shoulder, "Literal raven figurines. These might have been some sort of signifier to mark caches or a means for agents to identify one another."

(Your Name Here)

Jinx nods, "Might be reacting to us?"

(Your Name Here)

Jinx shakes her head, "No idea... But they vanished as if they were summoned creatures... Thoug I don't know how they would have lasted this long..."

(Your Name Here)

Jinx smiles as she sees her companions strike, "So we *can* hurt it...", she almost growls, before trying to swing her heavy blade at the beast to end it's threat.

Longsword: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 2 = 25 Threat.
Confirm: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9 Probably not.

Jinx, realizing that there's little she can do, decides to distract the beast, hoping to make it easier to hit.

Aid Another (Attack, Larenti): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

The eagle continues its thus far fruitless attacks.

Beak (smite): 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 12 for: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

(Your Name Here)

Jinx steps into the space Rexus offers, "Not sure I'll be able to help, but I'll give it a shot."

Longsword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

The eagle continues to attack as well.

Beak (smite): 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 8 for: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Jinx, unable to find an easy opening for herself, points behind the creature, calling another eagle to harry and flank with her nephew.

Talon (smite): 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 22 for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

(Your Name Here)

Too bad smite from celestial template doesn't bypass DR line paladin smites -- I don't see a space where Jinx can engage in men's without stepping into the ick since everyone else moved up?

(Your Name Here)

Sorry, I thought I was short on range -- so much the better.

(Your Name Here)

Jinx sighs and draws her blade, then points at the oncoming beasts, whispering, and calling a celestial eagle to attack them. The bird appears some 30' ahead of her, then uses its powerful wings to rush the lead creature.

SLA is a standard and last 10 rounds, assuming the eagle lasts that long. As it's celestial, it gains darkvision 60' -- and it flies 80'..

Eagle (Talon): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 for 1d4 ⇒ 4

Eagle's got Resist cold/acid/electricity, 5, if it matters -- otherwise, it's the usual 5hp, AC 14 creature we all know and love.

Jinx Status:

AC: 17/11/14; hp: 11/11
Summon Monster SLA: 3/6
Spell slots remaining: 2 x 1
