virtigo21125 composed the entire soundtrack by himself, for their campaign, which is really cool.

Raithwyn the Wraith wrote: As those of us non-noble types, do we have jobs? what are our purposes here? are we all "Gelud"'s servants? You can act like servants if you like, or workers, or nobleman, etc. Right now, according to the original plan/earlier posts, this is to secure access to the mask, as it will be on display, and, when it will not be on display, it will likely be under less security. Also, sorry I couldn't post earlier. RL came up, then the wi-fi went out. If that didn't happen, I would have been able to post this much earlierA waiter moves nearby, carrying a tray full of drinks. He hands you a margarita and moves off. The man you just spoke to also moves away.
In a few minutes,I shall bring the piece out for your enjoyment. In the meantime, enjoy a work of music by a few great minstrels! He strides out, and several elves walk into the room, each bearing a musical instrument. They start playing a beautiful, possibly elven, song, that attracts the attention of most of the people in the room

When the day of the party arrives, you have all managed to disguise yourselves, and secure transportation to the party. You have just entered the large mansion. Men a women in fancy clothes mill about, sipping from glasses of fine wine. A man in an elegant sit approaches Jake. Sir, I feel as if I recognize you, but, from where, I do not know. May I ask, have you ever been to the town of Baldurs Gate?
Human GM
Your plan is to impersonate the noble now, right? After you finish the cargo job, you are each paid 1 gold piece, and told to come again for another job, if you wish. You meet up once more at a private location once more (perhaps your original meeting place) to discuss your next plan of action. Your employer has given you a small piece of paper describing the behaviors of Gerwin Jelud, since he is too dead to spy on.

I'll roll deception for you. Is your mod +0? Doesn't look like you are proficient in it, and your charisma is 10. If I'm wrong, feel free to add the mod to the roll.

As you are walking back to where the guard is supposed to meet you, you hear the distant sound of footsteps. Two guards are marching towards your location, but do not appear to be looking for something. Instead, they appear to be on patrol. You blend into the shadows, and they do not spot you. However, the guards move rather slow, and you have to slightly slow down as you move past them. At the meeting place, a bored looking man in a guards uniform is leaning against a wall, tapping his foot. Beside him is a short man with a large stomach. There you are! the first guard shouts Where were you!?

Raithwyn:
One passage leads to what appears to be a living area, which is quite bare. A a result, you can not tell who is meant to live there. The other one leads to a small armory. Crossbows, shortsword, and daggers line the walls. One guard is inside, and appears to be inspecting a shortsword What else do you do? Or do you want to head back?
Human GM
Raithwyn: Moving forward, you can see the shine of metal. Behind the guards is a vault door, with a few runes traced upon it. As for the guards, they look like they are a cut above the guards (in terms of discipline) that marched you down the passageways. They stand to attention, hold their weapons in a stance that looks quite hard to maintain, and have a fire in their eyes. However, several visible scars show you that they might suffer a small amount of pain from old wounds if they engage in battle. It also occurs to you that, due to the confusing nature of the passageways, some delay may occur when the guards change shifts.
Human GM
The passage you choose winds in numerous directions. After a few minutes of walking, you come across a branch in the passage way. At the end of one of the passageways are several torches, burning brightly in the darkness. The torch illuminates two more guards, standing fiercely at attention, a crossbow and a shortsword in hand. Jake manages to blend in perfectly with the shadows, and the guards do not notice him at all.
Human GM
Loading the crates will likely take an hour. After around 20 minutes of mindless loading and walking, one of the guards starts to nervously fidget. His cheeks are turning red. The other guard sighs and nods, and the first guard scampers off. The remaining guard mutters That guy is useless. Always has one excuse or another under his breath. He heads forward. Lets go. 5 minutes later, as you leave the passageway once more, to get cargo, you notice the second guard has not returned. Exasperated, the remaining guard says You know what? I don't know why I'm still here. I'm pretty sure I should be on break right now. I'll go find Velun. Another guard should be here in around 10 minutes. He heads off towards the back of the building.

Ok You wait a day, and, after roughing up your appearance once more, you go down to the docks once more. There, you see Gendur standing upon the Weaver once more. Standing beside them, you see 4 more men. They look like typical dockworkers, with calloused hands, large muscles, and noses broken from multiple bar fights. They introduce themselves as Obel Glarsk, Treth Nightseer, Edif Dredscrod, and Mudron Rivershield. After about a hour of loading crates onto the Weaver, you leave the docks of Waterdeep, and begin to travel to your destination. The journey is quite uneventful, and all you are required to do is tie a few knots, and watch the powerful winds blow the ship towards the island. You finally arrive on the island, and discover a large, ornate building, with a beautiful garden outside. The ship continues past the main entrance, and docks on the northern side of the island. A few ships are already there, along with a dozen other workers milling about. A dwarf dressed in fine silks, and wearing a monocle wanders towards you. He holds out a piece of paper to Gendur, who signs it, then hands it to Deredwell. Sign your name, all of you, then give it back to the dwarf After you give the paper back to the dwarf and pick up a few crates, he begins to lead you into building. The walls are covered in paintings, depicting noble warriors and kings, most of them depicting someone with a resemblance to Rother. He stops after a minute, then knocks on the wall. A small opening appears, revealing a passage. Kitchen is this way. Waiters will travel throughout the building in this network, until they are ready to go out and serve the guests. He heads down the passage, gesturing for you to follow him. The passage twists and turns and branches off into other passages, but you eventually arrive at a large, sparse room, with several crates. Put your crates here. I'll get a few guards to guide you down the passages With that, two men bearing crossbows enter the room. They stand to attention, and wait for you to exit the room to get more crates.

Ref grabs the papers, and leads you to the deck. There, a straight-backed, rough looking man stands, staring out at sea. He turns, extending his hand for a handshake. Name's Gendur. Gendur Watersurge. Any of ye work on a ship before? Or, are ye simply looking for some gold and a 'ard days work, eh?
Human GM
Jake, you are now indistinguishable from a dock worker :)
Sure...sure.of..of course. He gulps My..my name is Ref... Ref Kerdien. You.. understand the job...yes? Shipping....to the island.. of Borhan? Yes... come this way...

One hour later, at the docks of Waterdeep...
Human GM
For payment, you shall meet near this small tower. He pulls out a small map of Waterdeep, which features a small red "X" near the internal part of the city. Handing the map to you, he says Keep it. Ensure that it is not found by anyone else. Memorize it if you will Some upfront payment may be given. If it is, it will likely be given shortly, in the form of 50 gold pieces for each of you. Meet back here in 2 days, and we will decide if it is appropriate. You can try and increase the pay if you want, with a persuasion check

The man turns to Dash. Jelud used to be a noble from the Court of Silverymoon, until he died in...scandalous circumstances. His family covered it up, and if anyone asks, they simply say that he is away, playing at adventuring, or soldiering, or perhaps sailing. His family would not dare to reveal what truly happened to Jelud- that would destroy them, after all. If they are contacted, they'll probably go along with it, as there is no loss in doing so. The man looks slightly offended as Raithwyn addresses him as "Minion" Remember, I am hiring you he says under his breath.
So, this is the "hiring schedule", in case anyone is confused:
Human GM
We can secure you several small boats, but as Rev said, dressing as suppliers would likely secure you both transportation and cover. The have already started bringing food from several bakeries, fisheries, and the like, near the waterfront or the "noble" district. The matter of part will be decided by the amount of money our clients bid, but, you will be given a 50% cut to divide among yourselves. As for invitations, we have attempted to secure then under the name of Gerwin Jelud
Human GM
The man turns to Raithwyn It has already been added to his collection. As for the security, there are a few wizards, and around 30 guards. I had an inside man, and he identified a few entrance points. Of course, there is the matter of getting to the island, and task will be provided in the form of a few boats. Rother keeps the mask locked up in a vault with a few wards, but, it seems that he will be holding a private, invitation only display for several movies in two ten-days. He then turns to be Rev Rother is currently dabbling in the arcane arts, and only knows a few minor spells. The closest settlement would be Waterdeep. You can see it if you look towards the horizon, while standing at shore
Human GM
Miss Deredwell:
You focus on the picture of the mask, and you soon remember several details about the mask, perhaps told by a fellow jeweler beside which you once worked. You remember the following things: -The Mask has the power to charm many of the people who gaze upon it. However, this only works if someone is wearing it -Those who are charmed by the mask will follow the commands of the person who wears the mask -It is said that if one wears the mask for a long period of time, it will gradually meld with the face of the person who wears it. -The jewels on the mask are worth quite a lot Glad you asked the man says to Jack. He lays down a second, larger piece of paper on the table. It bears what looks to be a map of a mansion. This is the private vault of a rather prominent noble, Rother Borhan. He has a small piece of land on a small island off the sword coast, about 1 mile away from shore. He seems to be going through a "Rare Artifacts" phase, and has just bought the mask. This mask is worth quite a lot of money, especially to any arcane colleges. Of course, you are going to steal it
Human GM
A small lithe man approaches your table. Ye here for the job offer?. Without waiting for your reply, he turns around and heads to the front of the room. There, he opens a small door, which leads to a staircase. He beckons for you to follow him, and begins heading upstairs. The staircase is quite narrow, and seems to go on forever, but it eventually reaches a corridor, which leads to a small dark room. He motions for you to follow him inside, and quickly shuts the door. Laying a piece of parchment down, he says Before we begin, ye need to know, I'll be doing all transactions for my master. Ye will not meet with him. Now, let's begin. Ye will be stealing this, the Mask of Enthrallment He points to the piece of parchment, which bears a drawing of a beautiful, jewel studded mask. Know anything about it? Arcana checks, please :)

I just noticed a few stupid mistakes in my last post. I said "where you were supposed to meet in a assist both in the corner". I was posting on mobile. It's supposed to say "where you were supposed to meet in a shadowy booth in the corner" I hate autocorrect sometimes. Also, I'll let you rp a bit more, I guess. I'll also post what the note specifically said:

You look up from the small, crumpeled up piece of paper in your hand. The one you found on your doorstep, asking for your services in return for a sizeable share of gold. This is it. The tavern known as The Drunk Fiddler, where you are supposed to meet a few others in a assist both in the corner. As you head to that both, you notice several others doing so as well. Introduce your characters to each other, and RP a bit, if you wish. Just say done when you are ready to move on
owenstreetpress wrote: This sounds super cool, and I'd love to play if there's room. Not sure what I'd want to play yet, but I can come up with something pretty quickly if you want me to join! You can still submit a character! And, spinningdice, I'll check out the artificer tomorrow! I have to go now. |
