Interesting, both groups I have run through this had no issues with the Broodfiends, I wound up condensing that tower fight to three battles. The Devils/Vampires at the bottom were a nice appetizer for the group. I wound up having only 9 kyuss knights in total(an homage to LoTR) But they were all significantly stronger than the ones written in the book. Four were at the SoLS, and five were in Alhaster. I did not care for the whole authority check thing, so we had a massive street battle with four knights, some vampire shadowdancers who I used to just to cast bat swarms and the nightstalker? The second battle was with Lashonna, Hemriss, Blessed Angels and Broodfiends, I am in full merciless mode at this point so when I get a wish and a miracle needing to be cast in a fight that's a success in my book. The top was Big K, the leader of the Kyuss knights, Mother Superior of the Blessed Angels( I added her on a whim during the PoRH mod and had her stated out for this battle royale) and some Blessed Angels. This was a fun fight especially when the sorcerer discovered that Big K had spell stowaway as an added feature
Ho Boy, My favorites are the ones I have known the longest. LoTR: First fantasy I ever read and the one that has had the biggest impact on me Discworld: I mean Monty Python/ Douglas Adams meets fantasy. Great stuff Thomas Covenant: Yeah it has some similarities to Tolkein. But the main character is...different than most Black Company: Definitely more true to life Earthsea Cycle; Really nice worldbuilding Vlad Taltos: A fantasy novel with some sci-fi weaved in and one of the most memorable main characters The Pendragon Cycle: I love this guys take on the King Arthur legend I think the best "Recent" series I've read is The Night Angel Trilogy
Trans Europe Express-Kraftwerk Great driving music
Because i'm a glutton for punishment, I ran all 30+ dragons at the end. It took three sessions. I grouped the smaller ones together and just hit my guys with three or four breath weapons at once. The only dragon that landed was Xyzanth who was sporting AMF. I saved Brazzy for the end as they entered the final chamber, I had the wall turn to lava and melt away as He attacked the seriously depleted party.
Quote:
In Short, This is the way I ran it 1. Kyuss' attempted ascension. 2. Defeat of Dragotha by the Order of the Storm. 3. Creation of the Obsidian Ring around the Spire of Long Shadows 4. Dragotha relocates Kyuss' monolith to the Wormcrawl Fissure As far as exact timeline, I went with what jenner has above
As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls-Pat Metheny Looks like they are touring despite having no E or L

Names: Clarence, Jack, Volos, Harsh and Dungrin.(TPK)
I've seen alot of complaints about Dragotha being weak. Let me help you out 1. Advance him to Great Wyrm
Party has defeated the wormdrake and his two gated in frostworms. Dragotha flies in and blasts the party with fire. this pretty much eliminated their pro fire spell and then quicken the deathwind breath weapon. My group had this thing about not casting death ward. They also were pretty low on resources.
So long story short Dragotha lands and begins wrecking people. He was dropping one per rd. Again i asked about the miracle/ greater t-port spells They chose the mass heal route. To quote the indiana jones movie "They chose poorly" I suppose I am now expected to come up with some post-apocalyptic campaign
I had fun grazing on this tranche of D&D history and came across these three albums that "can add immeasurably to the expedition/adventure, and sometimes helps keep rowdy parties quieter and more manageable". All by the one of the best keyboard players ever Rick Wakeman Journey to the Centre of the Earth
Alas, the group did not make it to the final battle with two frostworms, a wormdrake and Dragotha.
You would think that after all the undead they have encountered the cleric would have Death Ward cast. Nope, they are relying on Rings of Inner Fortitude. Great item don't get me wrong but when a dreadwraith crits Ouch
