Ding ding! Get this man a cupie doll.

Oh sorry! When you asked

Quote:
can a medium character buy a small weapon (with the assumption that the weapon purchased can be used by the medium character)?

I assumed you wanted to know if you can wield it in PFS. Cause of course you can buy it. Otherwise how would anyone complete their first few adventures.

And here are two other threads I found by searching "How does fame work"

http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2os9i?How-exactly-does-item-purchase-work-in-PF S#1

http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2opmy?Clarification-on-buying-stuff#1

I really hope this helps.

Please read my post more carefully. The guide says nothing about the type of treasure Chronicles award you.

Chronicles don't award you treasure. Unless you are talking about the gold you receive. I assume since you've played one game you aren't talking about the small minority that do actually give you items.

Perhaps you could explain what I should read more carefully so that I may understand.

Hangarflying, yes but this rule is the same no matter what. PFS doesn't change the basic run of the mill rules for weapon sizes and what you can and cannot wield.

So once again, check the guide first, then check the rules forum.

I tried to search the threads and didn't find an answer, and reading the Guide to PFS still left me wondering: can a medium character buy a small weapon (with the assumption that the weapon purchased can be used by the medium character)?

Thanks.

The Rules forum is the place you should be searching as this isn't PFS related.

He hasn't scheduled "Rivalry's End" at all (tough on my wife's Shadow Lodge character ...), and has ignored my request to schedule "Way of the Kirin" on a week where I could GM it in order to get a credit for my second Lantern Lodge character.

Sounds like he doesn't care about you or he doesn't care to listen.

Run a home game.

Scheduling PFS games 8 weeks out is pointless and mostly detrimental to the community.

Okay, serious question now. I have a 10th level PC who may have to be considered as being dead, in terms of PFS. Not sure, this thread has left me totally confused.

I can't believe you actually got an answer to that question.

Kudos to Mike for having enough patience to answer that nonsense.

Wut?

Removing optional encounters for scenarios is a bad idea. It gives us as GMs the chance to scale up or scale down a scenario legally.

I'd say Armor Expert is the penultimate trait around these parts.

RainyDayNinja wrote:

Here's a quick guide, since it looks like you're confused about what "penultimate" means:

"Ultimate" means last. "Penultimate" means next-to-last. Third from the last is "antepenultimate." Fourth from the Last is an album by The W's.

What one man calls a guide I call definitions. >:]

133 days or 3192 hours between zero and four stars

133 is 19 weeks

19 * 45 = 855 hours spent working, commuting

133 * 8 = 1064 hours spent sleeping

3192 - 855 - 1064 = 1273 hours left over for gaming

100 credits, with roughly 4.5 hours spent getting each credit(which varies greatly, I understand)

100 * 4.5 = 450 hours spent gaming

450 / 1273 = 35.3%

Roughly 35.3% of the last four months of your life has been spent playing PFS.

Reactionary is the most common penultimate trait? Or the most common trait?

What is the the penultimate most common trait you see used at your PFS tables?

Could you elaborate on how that's relevant here, Tim?

Nope. I chose the words I typed carefully to mean exactly what I meant to say before I hit the Submit Post button.

edit: and sometimes it's outright fear. I've had a judge scream at me for 4 hours in a game. Everytime I said anything, he yelled at me. and I was the closest player to him. I think the classic line in that game was "I'm not going to let you screw up my encounter! No, you don't detect anything with your perception check of 45!" delivered in a voice that would have put my Drill Insturctor in Basic to shame.

Sheesh! You sure have a lot of these persecuted nosig stories. I hope things get better for you in your PFS career.

Core classes = Barbarian Bard Cleric Druid Fighter Monk Paladin Ranger
Rogue Sorcerer Wizard

Base classes = Alchemist Cavalier Gunslinger Inquisitor Magus
Oracle Summoner Witch

Alternate classes = Ninja Samurai

I'd say the most common non base class I see is Fighter.

A big problem is that most people ignore the fact that the ONLY reason you are allowed to replay a scenario is if you are the 4th person at the table. To make a legal table.

You aren't technically allowed to play if you are the 5th player or the 6th player.

Play a pregen. You've already had your chance at this scenario, let the first times enjoy it. Play a pregen.

Can we get the thread title changed?

"Guide for Animal Companions in PFS" is a bit too official sounding. Wouldn't want anyone thinking this mess has any sort of official bearing on the campaign.

I think you'll probably change your mind once you get a bit more experience with PF. Its a decent class.

Wuuut? My comment about goblin genitalia got deleted? Is this board supposed to be G rated? Seemed a little harmless fun. Pun intended.

If your character dies, your character dies.

Play a pregen.

Please refer to Chapter 7 of the PFSGtOP.

I did. Pages 32-38 are all about Game Master Responsibilities.

Page 39 includes a section labeled "Game Master Rewards"...

Ooops. I was in a hurry and just looked at the Table of Contents. Thanks pointing out the correct page.

Netopalis wrote:

Set some standards for scenarios you choose to run and then keep them.

If you think a scenario is "at fault" don't run it. Ever. Even if someone requests it.

I don't plan on ever running the horrible scenario in question. Nothing will change my mind.

If a person is goaded into GMing because they get boons, I don't want that person to GM.

I actually put Infusions of Breath of Life in Poisoner's Gloves - then I give each glove to a different party member. I'm hoping to see a Barbarian to charge 80' across the table to hit someone who just went down with a Breath of Life....

Are you saying you give the right glove to person A and the left glove to person B?

Pretty brazen to admit you broke the PFSOP rules on the message boards. No crit range? Getouttahere!

Netto, how about you just don't run scenarios you think are improperly balanced. That way you won't reward Paizo for doing something you think is wrong.

Pretty simple solution.

Flagged and moving on.

Honestly if you really wanted to you could do the module play as Lantern Lodge, play the special scenario THEN change faction to Shadow Lodge for a level (to fulfill the faction change requirement) play 4-23 as shadow lodge get THAT boon and THEN on the 14th of august freely change to any other faction and go from there.

Thank Aroden that this cheeseball bull-poopy is not allowed.

Stop agreeing with me. :]

Netopalis wrote:

Tim,

They are listed as scenarios, and I find it odd that you care so much that they have a module's structure (Which they don't, as they are 3 separate adventures that are generally played together.)

Besides that, though, I think that if anybody is boo-hooing, it is those who are complaining that by fudging 3 or so crits in my 59 games as a GM, I am somehow depriving them of something. That is ridiculous.

As long as we disagree, I'm on the right track.

What's more important is their structure. First Steps are modules. Plain and simple. But that's not the point.

The point is Netpplis boo-hooing someone dying in a RPG and no longer being able to play that adventure again. When player death is VERY uncommon in PFS.

First Steps are technically modules as well.

Netopalis wrote:
The list of replayable tier 1 scenarios is limited to three: The First Steps Series.

Incorrect.

Don Walker wrote:

The level 1 retraining rule was added to allow players who realized they "made a mistake" with their build to fix it OR to allow players to "test drive" a class before committing to it without "losing" the Chronicles they already earned.

It was not added to allow min/maxers additional opportunities for their character build before level 2. That is just an unfortunate side-effect.

So while intentionally playing a different build at level one, purely for the game mechanic advantage it provides is not in the spirit of the rules, it is not disallowed.

That said, the campaign leadership is continually reviewing the effect certain rules have on the game and may decide that the intended benefit of a rule is not worth the power creep it adds to the game.

Right. Fraggin. On.

Make sure to account for any consumables you've used. Used Potions of CLW, alchemical fires, etc cannot be refunded. And if you bought anything with prestige, its yours.

Adding Aasimar and Tiefling to the list of always available races was the worst thing that has happened to PFS in recent memory.

Please please please don't continue to flood the system with the Cantina races.

Do these numbers JUST mean playing? I average playing 2-3 times a month (I have to go back to seasons 0-2 to be able to play more than twice a month) but if you add in the amount I judge, it's more like 5-6 times a month.

Very interested in that clarification as well.

I would assume it means participating not playing.
