Hello everyone,

Numbat asked me to introduce myself, I am new to PFS play and she heard I was looking for a "tutorial campaign" for handling all of the PFS details and graciously invited me to join. I hope you all don't mind an extra.

A bit of background about my gaming experience:
I have been DMing almost continually for 30 years and have done PbP/PbE on and off for about 15 years. I've run games in probably 12-13 different game systems over the years including AD&D 1, 2, 3, 3.5, and PF1e. I have read through PF2e but have not played in it.

I'll run a character of whatever is needed to round things out.

I'm interested. I have not looked at mythic spheres before, but I'm stuck home now with lots of time to read :D

I'm in a Discord one now that basically does the same as normal PbP, everyone contributes in their own time, same as the DM.

Not having dealt with MapTools, I googled it and now I know why you like it, it sounds good. And now I know why you like to use it live, you need to keep the server up so players can do things. So, I did a bit of poking around because I wondered about hosting it in the cloud on AWS. Running it on AWS takes some effort and unless you're familiar with unix and AWS, I would not advise it. If you are familiar with unix and AWS, this would be your best route. I looked at Azure as an alternative, while there is 1 AWS tutorial, there are no Azure ones.

We use Roll20 for maps, everyone can be given permission to move their own pieces whenever they want, its on the web so always available. I have not DMed with it, but now I've had four games use it, the DMs have said it is quirky at times but allows for good lighting and fog of war. I saw two articles for MapTools users about Roll 20:

1. MapTools user asking how to do things in Roll20

2. Using MapTools maps in Roll20

Having run campaigns for nearly 30 years and unable to make a single time slot work weekly right now, I miss the immediacy of playing with people live, but now I get to play with people from around the world. I have enjoyed the PbP in Discord a lot but giving up a tool you like and know for something else is a hard choice.

Okay, good news is that I convinced the CTO to fund the project that will make us $30 million a year. Bad news is my brain is fried and I will need to finish the story tomorrow and submit it then.

Thank you for your patience.

Ha Long Bay! Very beautiful and a very interesting way of life. I love that place.

I found out today (around noon) that I need to give a presentation to our CTO Thursday morning so we can get approval to do a project that will make us $30 million a year. No pressure - and those darn jerks for not giving me more heads up :D

I'm part way through Novalie's backstory (and I like to write a small actual story with dialog, etc.). I apologize, I will probably not be able to submit it until Thursday evening. Sorry for the delay.

Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories, Starfinder Accessories, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Charter Superscriber

I was reading yours and thinking the same :D

Relatives? Neighbors?

And my character, Novalie, also trained in Hearth - returning together would make a lot of sense if we finished training together. Yours going back to a warm reception and mine going back full of anxiety over her family's reactions.

Perhaps Freya and Novalie played together as children but only saw each other occasionally and when Novalie reached around 12 or so and she could stand the training for River no longer, she followed her visions and ran away to Hearth, knowing that your family was there and doing exactly what she wanted to do.

Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories, Starfinder Accessories, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Charter Superscriber

So the only way to train for The Warrior is to leave to Hearth and the local undines would not be very happy about that? Following the Volcano is controversial for an undine?

I'm thinking the story changes to her being groomed to fight for River, but she has visions from Volcano and due to it being frowned upon she steals away in the night and runs away to Hearth to train.

Is there a reason we are in the village? Some celebration or event?

Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories, Starfinder Accessories, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Charter Superscriber

I am thinking of an undine sacred fist war priest - I find it hard to see an undine in water using heavy armor.

I like the lines "Many of the devout go all the way to the end of River, to fight the never-ending battle to keep the Dark at bay" and "Oddly enough, Volcano's undine worshipers are often his most fanatical"

I see her as being raised in the village and prepared for being a warrior priestess who is dedicated to fighting The Dark (if that's appropriate for this specific campaign). At first a bit reluctantly but she's had visions that have guided her onto this path and towards a life of fighting her deity's enemies.

A bit Joan of Arc like in that's she's a bit young and innocent of the ways of the world and that other's may have motives that aren't aligned with doing good and doing what is right for everyone not just themselves. She has faith and conviction her god will guide and protect her.

I see her being more attracted to The Warrior aspect of Volcano rather than the protection/healing aspect of River. Her character growth will progress from her intense conviction around the honor, bravery, and heroics aspects of The Warrior and need learn the mercy portion (probably the hard way), empathy not being her strong suit at first. I see her sooner or later having to confront loss or defeat which leads to the tears part of his aspect. Finally, she will begin to learn the redemption and self-healing aspect of the quiet acts aspect, humility and self-control not being her most prominent characteristics.

Gung-ho and idealistic are probably the best two words to describe her.

An 8 and a 6 - I'm thinking its time for SAD.

This takes me back to the AD&D module series - it was an amazing revelation of what could be done at the time.

Here's my idea for a character, it appears with a mage and a driver already we need a cleric type with perhaps a bit of muscle thrown in.

Quick Summary (longer background in spoiler)
Sophie spent a lot of time learning martial arts growing up and worked her way through college teaching martial arts and self defense. Growing up in a deeply catholic family she studied comparative religion and mythology. Through a series of events she had a vision and conversation with Athena and she is now her devotee. She's now an adjunct professor at the University of Utah in SLC.

The following is not an official format for a character, just my tallying up of things as I went through the books. I'm fairly busy today so I don't have time to sit down and fill out a full sheet but I wanted to put this information here to receive any comments on backstory, character plan, etc.

Brief Background
Grew up in a catholic family, went to catholic school, and went on to Notre Dame to study in Religious Studies. Did martial arts since she was a child, became very good, helped fund her education by teach martial arts and self defense along with the occasional tournament win.

She was always fascinated by mythology and she studied a lot of comparative mythology in college. When working on her doctorate an archaeologist colleague was going to Turkey to do an excavation of an old Greek temple and invited her along because of her extensive knowledge of greek mythology and her ability to read ancient greek.

She happily went along, there aren't many times a researcher in religion is invited to do field work on an actual ancient temple ruin.

While excavating, there was a breakthrough into a small space in one of the walls containing a number of scrolls and an old brass chain and pendant. A quick glance through the scrolls revealed numerous prayers and ceremonies to Athena.

Back in her office at the university she really poured over the scrolls. While reading the prayers out loud just to hear what they sounded like in that long ago temple, the pendant became warm to the touch. Shocked and fascinated, she read more prayers, each one having the same reaction. When she slept, she had a crystal clear dream of the goddess Athena coming and speaking with her and asking her to perform one of the ceremonies in the scrolls.

The next day, feeling a bit foolish, Sophie locked herself in her office and performed one of the ceremonies while wearing the necklace. Upon finishing she had a clear vision where the goddess Athena came and spoke with her. She called Sophie The Little Warrior and stated that if Sophie performed the prayers and rites of Athena's priestesses, the goddess would be there to aid her in her endeavors

Still doubting this was even real, Athena told her a few words and gestures to perform. When Sophie did that she created water in a bowl in her office. She did that a few more times out of wonder and now realized this was no mere hallucination. She pledged herself to Athena and to follow her ways. She was now a priestess of the goddess of wisdom and war.

Sophie scraped her thesis and wrote about the influence of religion on the people of ancient Greece and the impact it had on their lives. Her insight and theories almost seemed divinely inspired.

Needing a job and religious studies degrees not being very useful in the secular world, she's now an adjunct professor at the University of Utah.

Dotting in for interest.

d20 Modern with Arcane thrown in was fun to run - I ran a campaign for about a year in it.

Count me in! I'll think about a character concept and track down my books or pdfs of the game and look over it. I can probably do this Sunday. It'll be fun to revisit those rules.

BESM d20 too?!

I only ran BESM itself, never the d20 version. Count me in for that when it's ready.

I never thought I'd see anyone use these again!

Umm, yes - it details female driders there right at the top of the page I linked. I completely ignored those paragraphs... In ADnD/Greyhawk Driders were male drow who were becoming too powerful for Lolth and were made to partake in a difficult "test", that none ever passed... I'll get to the crunch and background.

In original D&D it was female priestesses who grew powerful enough that they might threaten Lolth herself. I think the 'Test' was added in 2ed or in FR.

I'm submitting Serisa, an Oread Warpriest(Sacred Fist) of Gorum

I found an image of what could be an oread - ruby crystalline hair, accents, etc. Actually pretty perfect for an oread that doesn't wear armor.

Portrait

Initial Character Background Idea (still working up the whole story, subject to change)
She was captured by evil cultists that raided and eliminated her small family enclave down near the lava flows. They enslaved and turned her into a practice combatant for the cult's monks. Having led a nonviolent life growing up and not aggressive, she didn't do well. Many rest periods she was left bloodied, bruised, and barely able to move. She spent those rest periods praying to whatever god would hear her that she would be released or be able to survive. One day, Gorum answered her prayers and she felt his power flow into her while she was fighting a trainee. She won her fight by pummeling her opponent to death. After that, everything changed, she became rebellious and difficult to manage. The abuse the cultists heaped on her no longer broke her, instead she mocked them. The next time she went against a trainee, she killed him too, even more brutally than the first one. The cult didn't want her anymore, but instead of killing her outright, they thought to punish her by selling her off to the drow who they hoped would break her.

Player options in Occult and Horror Adventures should be okay as far as I recall. A samsaran would be great for Strange Aeons.

Thank you!

I have the general concept, I just wanted to see if there was some crunch to back-up the concept. She would be a Samsaran oracle, probably committed to the asylum (just a suggestion) due to visions/voices/etc arising from her curse. Her memories would be coming back but she’d be doubting if they were her’s or her ancestors. I know its kind of weird to exacerbate the problem and its recovery, but I can see an oracle tuned into the ‘cosmic horror’, having glimpsed it in her prior lives (possibly a reborn samsaran from horror) and it haunts her from life to life. (Again, just a general idea to frame how the developments of the campaign would influence her)

The best part of cosmic horror is the gradual revelation of your tiny place in the universe and how it melts your mind. She would be carrying out the culmination of many lifetimes of being exposed to the ‘truth’ and it shattering her each time. It would be the struggle of her playing out a cycle that has plagued her and her overcoming and eventually triumphing (probably :). Banishing this destructive cycle from her lives for good.

Sorry, I tend to think through the history and possible evolution and growth opportunities for the characters then slowly work in crunch to fit, tweaking the character conception some as I discover cool tweaks to a build. It is difficult to not think through the details of her history :D

I’m also very excited at the meta-situation of no men and known limits on trigger things. It’ll be a safe haven, but done with horror - super cool.

I’ll go work up the light crunch, memories, and your other requirements in a few hours when I get home from work.

I’m having fun too!

I’m definitely getting more into her character than I otherwise would. And its interesting to explore what being LN as a Druid means. She believes in the natural order and that the ends justify the means (my interpretation of neutral in this specific case.)

I don’t take anything personal - part of the fun of role playing is to explore these sort of things and absent external forces, parties tend to end up bringing up these sort of discussions.

A quick question: Are the horror/occult books open for use? I know the player's guide mentions them, but a lot of GM's don't want them to be used. I don't know much about them, I've not really gone through them much because few people use them.

The reason I ask, is that my initial idea when you mentioned the amnesia angle and reading it in the guide was a Samsaran. They already have messed up memories and I think it would be an added dimension if, as her memories started to return, she wouldn't even know if they were actually her's or not. Perhaps that too meta though and it would just make it harder to play for both of us.

Either way, when poking through stuff about Samsarans, I ran into references to numerous things in the occult/horror books and it made me curious.

Yes, I prefer the "atomie with an attitude" character I'd been working up as well. Give her disguise self and she could even pass as a short gnome/halfling for being the party face.

There are other sorcerer options (and yes grease was #1 on my spell list :D it's both prankster-ish and useful). With boon companion I could get to the 8/9 level of usefulness with it. Then she could "transform" via some form of butterfly chrysalis process into a different type of fey (your reworking process you mentioned). Going down the list of fey on the the pfsrd site there are plenty of options to switch to over time. And some nice fey-ish templates along the way.

The reason for the companion is that the character idea is similar to Kaylin the Renegade from the Red Dragon Inn game - if you turn your head and squint enough. Basically a pixie sorcerer with an attitude far beyond her size and an animal companion to back her up with enough muscle so that she can hold her own physically and not just get squished every time she gets mouthy.

Here's a rough writing of her backstory I was working - I still have a number of things to add to meet your submission requirements. She's a bit meaner than I'm used to writing for a character, so I'm not certain of all of the pieces.

Rough backstory draft:

"Arrrgh!" Xeria stomped out of the fairy gathering and into the dark woods, "If I have to listen to one more effin happy song. Or dance around the fairy circle one more effin time..."

She turned around, continuing to walk backwards as she gestured rudely towards the gathering. When she turned around again to walk forward she tripped on a tree root and nearly tumbled to the ground before her wings caught her and lifted her into the air.

"Effin trees are out to get me too," she grumbled as her wings buzzed and carried her farther from the celebration. "And if effin Winky wants to show off his la-de-dah curly toed shoes with the effin bells one more time, so help me...," she growled, turned her head back towards the celebration, and shook her fist, "I'll punch him in his effin face and wipe that imbecilic smile off of his idiotic mug."

"Arrrrgh!" she yelled again, not that anyone could hear her out here in the woods, the music and lights from the fairy circle were too bright and too loud for anything she said or did to be noticed by anyone back there.

She continued to buzz off into the night, churning over moments of the festival angrily in her head. Occasionally, she'd growl out loud and she only half-heartedly paid any attention to where she was going. A few times she nearly ran into tree trunks.

The list of grievances she'd gathered over the years burst out again. In a high nasal voice she said, "Sit like a lady. Stop playing with the swords. Learn to cook and tend the mushrooms. Put down that bow this instant. Stop cursing, it doesn't look pretty when you do that. Stop carving your name in the table. You know that Winky is a fine young atomie, his father owns that large mushroom farm, that'd be a right smart match there. And he dresses ever so well."

In her own voice Xeria spat out, "If you like his shoes so well mom, I'll give them to you so hard that when you sneeze the bells will ring," accommpanied by wild gestures indicating the improbable anatomical route by which she intended to place the shoes in her mother's nasal cavity.

She continued in a deeper voice, "Now Kitten, listen to your mother she knows what she's talking about. Please stop throwing those knives at that drawing of Winky on the wall. You'll mark up the wood and I'll have to sand it out. That young Winky sure does have very racey curled toed shoes. His have three, I counted them, three curls. You know I turned your mother's head with only a single curl, but back in my day we didn't have anything as risque as three curls."

Memories of the way her feather leered at her mother at that point came back to haunt her and she gagged remembering his voice trailing off as he escorted her mother out of the room. He already wasn't thinking of Xeria anymore, "Now you be a good girl and keep playing with those knives, your mother and I have something to talk about in the other room."

She gagged and spit some more at the memory, "How do they not effin get it? I can't stand that grinning idiot and his I-Don't-Care-How-Many-Curls-Your-Shoes-Have effin shoes."

Continuing in a tone of complete disbelief, "How do they not get that all I want to do is stab things," while gesturing as if she'd stabbed something, "strangle things," with her hands wrapped around an imaginary neck, "and kick them in the nads!" she kicked upwards so hard she tumbled head over heels in the air.

Eventually, her anger simmered down into an ugly, cruel mood and she started to look around for targets to take out her frustrations on. After a while and right before she was about to turn around for home she spotted a deinonychus tending its nest with its handful of dark grey mottled eggs.

An idea occurred to her and she flew over towards the nest. When she was in range, she gestured towards one of the eggs and it rose into the air and came towards her. The dinosaur was confused and leapt after the egg and finally saw the tiny atomie in the sky and the egg heading towards her.

Xeria was moving the egg towards her, sticking out her tongue, and turning to wiggle her rear at the dinosaur when it leapt far higher than she thought it could and only a last instant flip of her wings kept her out of the fang filled maw. She giggled and proceeded to dangle the egg above the mother who leapt frantically up to get the egg. She soon tired of the game when a new idea came to her. She turned her head and looked back towards the festival as a truly wicked smile crossed her face.

She imagined dangling the egg above the dinosaur and maneuvering the snapping angry bundle of teeth and claws towards the festival. She could hear the laughter and singing turn to shrieks and screams as the angry dinosaur stumbled into the circle. In her imagining, the music stopped and she could see all sorts of fairies scrambling about to get out of it's way. The dinosaur mother would began to snap at the confused and terrified little creatures then a few of them would hit it with color sprays, instantly dropping it to the ground before it could harm anyone. She could almost hear the voices at the festival began to loudly argue about what to do with the big unconscious dinosaur before it woke up and began eating them again. She was certain they'd stop it before it hurt anyone. But then again, if they didn't, not even Winky and his ever so pretentious shoes deserved to die.

Instead she merely flew high enough amongst the leaves the dinosaur couldn't see her anymore. Wistfully sighing, Xeria flew home with the egg and left it hidden amongst some leaves next to a warm rock that caught the sun's rays for a few hours a day.

For the next few weeks she tended the egg everyday and kept it warm so it would hatch. She'd been practicing her magic everyday and had been looking for a likely creature to link with. A raging whirlwind of fangs and talons sounded like a good companion. On the day it started to hatch, Xeria sat with the egg and chanted the ritual she'd been taught, seeking to link to the creature's mind as it single-mindedly tried to break out of the shell.

An overly large head on a spindly neck wobbled out of the hole it broke in the egg and it's large reptilian eyes turned to focus on Xeria, it croaked, "Mama?"

She's basically a grumpy teen-aged girl who ran away from home because she didn't want to fit into normal, boring fairy society. She'd be the type to shave her head or do a mohawk just to get a rise out of people. And her sense of trickster-ish humor is more similar to Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes, she'd imagine doing bad things, but deep down she could never bring herself to actually be evil.

The goal for her future would be that she'd 'grow up', start to realize what she wants is a group of "people" who accept her for her, and that her talents can be channeled into more productive things than just bugging the heck out of people. Sort of a Puck to Titania progression.

The half levels as character level max makes me question my first idea of an atomie sorcerer with sylvan bloodline - you get an animal companion with it and having it half (max) of my total level means it will not be very powerful. Also, the progression of atomie with fey levels makes me unsure of the potential for that to work out - there is no clear progression of fey like that. And being a primary spell-caster would be impossible with half class levels. Although maybe pattern the gained abilities similar to other higher CR fey. Darn, I'd already written a two page backstory :D

One of my other ideas was a ghast archer type. Do a young ghast (so a creepy child undead - she'd been converted when she was a child - no ability to "grow up" just permanently a child undead). The ghast has really good stats for mental, so something like an eldritch archer magus type. Would that be too many undead? Although an undead cleric might be useful to heal all of the undead in the party.

Similar to Helix - any input as to which one would be better? We seem to be meatshield heavy, so the atomie brings super stealth and social skills to the mix. My other idea would bring either ranged or healing/support to the mix.

I think I'll have to go research templates some to see how those would help progression.

I love the idea!

I was just talking about this idea in another "interest" thread. The DM wanted to do something similar to the "In the company of..." books.

Have you seen those books? It seems to handle a number of things that you'd want, progressive levels, powers, etc.

Either way, I'm thinking possibly a sprite. How do the "levels" for a less than 1 HD base creature? A sprite is 1/3, does that mean I can have 2 "levels" of advancement? A regular PC race is generally around that CR.

Maybe I'll do one of the outsiders. Although the idea of being an actual dragon is pretty cool. Off to go play with ideas.

This is definitely interesting - I'd love a chance to use the "in the company of" books.

5d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 6, 6) = 27 22
5d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 3, 2) = 14 13
5d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 5, 5) = 19 17
5d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 1, 5, 2) = 15 14
5d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 6, 5) = 21 19
5d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 2, 1) = 12 11

I'm thinking probably an arcane caster - although with the build options for this campaign, I may completely rethink that.

Edit: Oh wait, I could make a melee combat druid with these, hmmmm....

I'm thinking climbing will be very important, swimming not so much :D

And it'll be interesting battling in dungeons when the opponents will be on the ceiling (for us).

I too was wondering about flying races - I'm assuming something like the Fly hex isn't a problem since it's limited in duration, but always on flying would negate part of the challenge.

And monkey/ape animal companions or flying animal companions would be preferable - although that brings up an interesting question, would summoned creatures show up in the local orientation or the summoner's?

Okay, peering back in on the thread, I wanted to see which characters were stated up to see if there were another one I should do. I went back over the thread and gathered up a list of the submissions so far so I didn't submit a character someone had already done. Here's the list (if I missed someone, please tell me):

Bryn: Brolof
Kaylin: Tiessa
Eve: Fallen_Mage
The Collector: Fallen_Mage
Natyli: YoricksRequiem
Tara: YoricksRequiem
Wizgille: Peahcbottom
Zariah: PeachBottom
Dimli: AGamer70
Gog: trawets71

I'll look at the remaining list of characters and see if any strike my fancy. Kaylin is still my first pick, I've been itching to play her I like the build so much.

On another note, I'd never even heard of the game before this but was intrigued. I went down to the local gaming shop and asked for it. The guy behind the counter said they'd sold their last copy a few days before. Evidently they'd had a number of copies sitting there for a long time then all of a sudden in the past month they'd all been snapped up :D

Dotting for interest - I’m at work right now, I’ll type up something later today.

I’m thinking something like a celestial animal that wandered too deep into a fey forest while fleeing an evil hunter, wounded and tired it drank from a mystic glowing pool of fey energy and fell into a deep sleep amongst the magical undergrowth.

The mystic undergrowth and fey water energies infused it and while it slumbered for a few decades changed it into a fully awakened and intelligent creatures. Its a shapechanger, planty, animally, feyish creature that has grown as a legend of the deep forest. Its the natural worlds retribution against the hunters and despoilers.

Just a first idea subject to change entirely by tonight.

RP:

"Ugh, sailors," Kaylin grimaced and covered her ears against the boisterous singing.

After the singing died down to a dull roar, the pixie turned back to the table, and slurred, "Where were we bigjob?"

Across the table from her, Daareka narrowed her eyes above her hand of cards, staring intently with her hair tentacles poised like snakes. Kaylin felt the tendrils of Daareka's mind striving to encompass her own, it was weaker this time. Shaking her head as if to clear it, she randomly belted out, "Bryn the Boatswain!" far out of beat with the sailors. Daareka smirked and concentrated harder.

The mindbreaker shrieked, "Ouch! That mongrel of yours better stop that!" as Wulfric bit her foot. Kaylin felt the tendrils evaporate like mist.

"Wench! Two more drinks over here and on her tab!" the pixie yelled out then turned back, "You know the bet. You fail to control my mind, we have to chug, and you buy the next round."

Kaylin chugged her own beer, seeming to drain it straight down her throat. She looked woozy for a few seconds and then belched out, "Chug!" at Daareka.

The purple skinned woman gave her an evil glare tinged with disgust and chugged her beer, this time slower than before. She choked down the last few swallows.

Kaylin dealt another hand of cards, lost track of the card count a number of times, and had to count them over and over again.

"Having a hard time thinking cutie pie?" Daareka chuckled everytime Kaylin messed up and twisted a tentacle of hair around her finger.

"You can just give up and admit that I'm the bigger person," she gloated.

"You keep that up you great washoon and see" the diminutive dealer stopped, looked a bit green, shook her head, and continued, "who has the last laugh."

Daareka looked pleased but barely able to keep her head straight and eyes open, she started to take a drink when a hard knock to her elbow caused her to spill her drink all over herself, the table, and the cards. She looked down and saw Wulfric right at her elbow. "That mangy cur of yours!"

"You know the rules, you spill, we chug!" Kaylin yelled, pointing and laughing at the mess Daareka made.

Reluctantly, the drenched woman choked down another beer while Kaylin easily downed hers.

Gathering the cards up into a dripping and disordered pile while trying not to get herself wet Kaylin slurred, "Look at the mess you made, you clumsy bigjob! Let's draw high card, I can't seem to stack these wet cards."

Daareka nodded, shook her head, and tried to clear her bleary eyes. She spotted the edge of a king card, grabbed it, held it up, and barked, "Hah! Beat that shortstuff!"

Kaylin looked very unsteady, took the top card off of the disheveled pile of cards, raised it slowly, turned it over, and displayed an ace. "Chug!" she yelled, startling Daareka.

Daareka raised her mug to her lips and began to drink, then fell face forward with a thud and a sploosh as her forehead hit the sodden table.

Kaylin straightened up, looking absolutely sober, and remarked without a trace of slur, "The 'chug for everything' game always gets the bigjobs."

Chuckling she motioned and all of Daareka's coins magically slide over the table and into her own pile.

The pixie hopped onto the passed out drunk's back, sat down, took a big swig of beer, and sang,
"Weak of mind and can't hardly drink!"
"Drunken Daar'ka!"

I found a couple of traits that may prove useful:

Splash Attack (People of the River): You can throw liquid that you have in your hand (as long as it's at least a pint) and try to blind someone right next to you as a dirty trick maneuver without an AoO. Great for starting bar fights.

Iron Liver (Adventurer's Armory): +2 Fortitude vs poisons and drugs, +4 to avoid the effects of alcohol.

It's fun trying to maximize something other than combat prowess for a change.

I look forward to seeing what a Pixie and a half-troll look like coming out of the race builder. Should be fun.

Just a preview, not the final:

So far for Pixie (I was trying to mimic the bestiary entry)
4 pts: Advanced Ability Scores (Mental): -2 STR, +4 DEX, +2 INT, +2 WIS, +2 CHR
2 pts: Fey
-1 pt: Slow: 20' Movement Rate
0 pts: Small (the bestiary says Small, I think Tiny would be even more appropriate to Kaylin from the pictures, but it costs 4 pts for some unknown reason)
0 pts: Standard Language Group: Sylvan
4 pts: Flight: Fly 30' (Clumsy)
2 pts: Flight: Fly 40' (Poor)
3 pts: Fey Damage Reduction: 5/Cold Iron

Abilities: STR: 6, DEX: 20, CON: 12, INT: 16, WIS: 12, CHA: 16
Pretty close to the bestiary entry, keeping wisdom to the minimum fits into her temper.

I plan to play her as if she were Tiny (like Tinkerbell), even though for some strange reason Tiny costs 4 pts.

Class: Wildblooded Sorcerer, Sylvan Bloodline: Gives Animal Companion @ Level - 3, Min 1
This is actually perfect for building Kylin, both in flavor and abilities - I googled animal companions to find this combo.

Feat: Boon Companion: Class level is +4 for companion's abilities, max of actual class level
Makes Wulfric equal to her level and actually useful.

Taking Sorcerer gives me most of the spells of the pixie and I am primarily taking enchantment spells to fit into the Kaylin template. Spells like: Mage Hand and Prestidigitation for general mischief, Polypurpose Panacea (for Sobriety) for drinking, and Charm Person for enchantment

Background Skills:
Craft (Tattoo): She's a rebel with attitude, tattooing is a natural - especially for tattooing people who pass out drunk :D Granted they are tiny tattoos (this is going into the story).
Profession (Gambler): She plans to win the gambling hands and beware anyone who accuses her of cheating :)

Regular Skills:
Fly (of course), Spellcraft, UMD and Bluff (for gambling) and maxed Intimidate (I don't expect anyone ever to be intimidated by a 2' pixie, but she'll try anyway. Shaking her tiny fist and squeaking out her threat.)

Traits, I'm at a loss for finding anything too applicable. Either something to do with having longbow proficiency (like bestiary pixie), Enchantment, Drinking, or Angry Attitude

This has been a very fun exercise of trying to model this character.

As in the interest check, I'm most interested in: Natyli, Kaylin, Whitehook, Tara, and Zariah.

Now, off to figure out how to do a "pixie enchanter with a wolf animal companion" and a "half-troll witchdoctor with voodoo dolls" as my first attempts.

From the interest thread:

Nairb the Grey wrote:
Since if I open up recruitment I have decided I will allow multiple applications from individual players since there will likely be some duplicate character choices and I will not be selecting more than one of any specific character. So if more than one character tweaks your fancy you can apply for all of them. During the application process you will give me a ranked preference and I will keep that in mind for selection.

I'm assuming this still holds?

I'm thinking with lots of undead about, the piercing weapons of the halfling might not be the most effective. I'll put the character up shortly.

I posted to my thread, now that everyone has checked in, I'd like to start mine on Wednesday. Gameply thread goes up Tuesday night.

May I have a mithril sword that turns into my black blade? Since I already get the +1 for my class feature. Then I'd just use my 3000 on armor, etc.

Are we palace guards? Or the military? Or police?

Basically, do we defend the ruler? Defend the city or attack it's foes? Or do we enforce the laws with the citizenry?

Female Scientist 5/ Party Girl 5/ Geek 5

3rd level, nice, so if I play a Elven Bladebound Spelldancer Magus I start with the black blade :)

If we're 3rd level do we gain any bonus wealth to buy items?

Female Scientist 5/ Party Girl 5/ Geek 5

I have a couple of possible ones depending on what's needed in the party:

Elven Bladebound Spelldancer Magus
Halfling Luring Cavalier of the Order of the Paw
Half-Elf Synthesist Summoner

I've been learning PF the past month or two, having not played any D&D since 3.5 a few years ago (lots of long time players moved all over creation). So, if any of these are on the 'hell no! only a munchkin picks that' list or the 'only an idiot picks that it' list, I am totally unaware of it, they just looked like fun things to try :)
