Although he remianed silent throught the -briefing- if one wishes to call it that, there was a bit of increased brightness in his eyes, and a slight grin behind his well kept beard at the words 'master brewer' in the note. The rest, well that was somewhat up his alley too. As far as assignments go, this was looking like it had potential to be a good one.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Okay, I am flying out tomorrow at 6 a.m. I've got everything with me, so I'll get the next post up this weekend provided Zot and Talion have a chance to go. otherwise, a few timing hiccups may occur over the next week.

Sorry again everyone. Life has been a little hectic, moving my brother has taken more of my time than expected, and I lost a day. Back to your regularly scheduled melee

Chalmer's strike was enough to bring low the one wolf

green will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
and green is now also hexed.

Green goes to bite Talion

bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

Red goes to bite Hooch
bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

and the gobos go back to being malicious and violent little beasties
Blonoze
gobo: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Durkly
gobo: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Gomgurt
gobo: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Hooch
gobo: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
gobo: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Pickle
gobo: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Pickle
bow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
bow: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Skimbleshanks
bow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

good thing there's no critical fumbles, what a round
Round 2

blue will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

The curse settles in on blue as well. Blue then snaps at the first goblin that tried to climb on his back

blue bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
blue bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

Red lunges out for Pickle
red bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
red bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

And Green snaps his jaws at Aurax in response to his own injury
green bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

The Goblins begin to take exception of their current situation, and express their dislike for having those ever so sharp teeth turned in their direction. Nor, it seems, do they recognize their exceptional good fortune at the wolves misfortune curse

Blonoze scrambled to his feet avoiding the bite directed his way
wolf A00: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
wolf A00: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

and struck the wolf with his stolen sword, striking a telling, but not incapacitating blow
gobo: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
gobo: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
gobo: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Durkly attempts to follow suit with the same, with less luck
gobo: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

As does Gomgurt.
gobo: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Hooch, also lept to his feet, again drawing a wolf bite, and struck back
wolf A00: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
wolf A00: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

gobo: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

while the last two goblins tried to get some distance to bring their bows to use.

since we switched to group initiative, it's only PC's left to go

reflex wolf: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

well that was weird, it ate my first post, temporarily.

Slipping and falling the wolf becomes an easy target for Aurax's bite.

RWoof Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
The curse settles upon the wolf even as it moves to bite at Skimbleshanks, sliping slightly upon an icy patch as it lunged, missing byconsiderable distance
red bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
red bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
the second Wolf tries the same on Durkly, but was foiled by the goblins recently scavenged armor.
blue bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
and lastly the third took a lunge at Shirin, going for her ankle in an trip, to bring her down into the snow
green wolf: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
bite: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
trip: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18

Blonoze rushed forward. Screaming something about 'freedom' and made a jump for the back of blue. Getting snapped at for his troubles, and ending up in the snow.
ride?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
aoo: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
crit chance: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
bite: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

The other Goblins seemed to think this looked like what amounts to a 'good idea' in the minds of goblins. So they all scrambled for the back of one of the wolves. Of course without any success as thes wolves were too young to carry a rider, even if they were inclined to put up with a screaming goblin on their back. As it was they all ended up prone in the snow.
ride Durkly: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
ride Gomgurt: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
ride Hooch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
aoo: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
ride Pickle: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
ride Skimble: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

was waiting on Talion. Moving on

As everyone was busy with the task of breaking camp, and the goblins were busy trying to sneak something to eat, again. Zot and Evanora make note of a couple forms moving in across the snow. A trio of Canid forms, small, a little lean from hunger and youth, the encircle the camp and let forth a howl....

Surprise Round. Wolves, then Zot and Evanora

Happy to do group rolls for things in the future if folks are okay with that.

Morning came with a considerable drop in the temperature, and a dazzling white blanket of unblemished snow burying everything under a couple inches of fresh snowfall, but already it seemed to be breaking up with patches of blue showing among the billowing grey clouds that marked the trailing edge of the last nights storm.

As everyone gets out and starts breaking camp,I would like some perception checks please

Evanora Alaenree wrote:

a reminder please, where are we in regards to Irisen?

About a day's travel north of the hamlet of Harvest's End in southern Irisen, where there is a ferry over the Rimeflow River.

A snowbloom. A pale blue flower that only blossoms in snowstorms and when plucked immediately transforms into a delicate, non magical crystal. Speculated by many as a sign of the land itself fighting back against Baba Yaga's power and control. Sacred in the land of the Linnorm Kings, possesion in Irisen is illegal. Making them somewhat valuable as rare collectibles, and alchemical reagents.

the flower is a pale blue, shaped similar to that of a daffodil, except for it's colour. Zot's never used one in his cooking, of that he is certain.

knowledge arcana or knowledge local

Even though the snow was blanketing the ground, Zot's eyes fall on the strangest thing a single flower seems to have risen up through the snow and blossomed. In spite of the cold and dark.

yeeeeeah, I'm gonna say that about does it

the bribery helped, and gave a bonus, but these are goblins. Not smart, not nice, and very selfish and malicious, keeping them in line takes a bit of work.

Camp settled in after a bit of work, and even, eventually, the goblins got involved. Mostly with the fire of course, and it took a bit of effort to keep them from tossing every bit of wood, and anything else not currently being observed and potentially flammable on. Especially as the temperature steadily dropped and the heavy, wet flakes of snow began to come down in earnest. The ground becoming a more uniform blanket of white, loosing it's distinct features as the light began to fade.

I would like a perception check from anyone venturing out during the storm, for any reason, including taking watch please

Could I get some diplomacy on the goblins please or intimidate

Setting up camp itself began easy, save for the goblins, who seem to be growing more than a little restless, and somewhat less inclined to be helpful. Instead of providing any practical assistance they began messing about, tossing jeers and insults towards whomever seemed to be doing the most work, or what they considered the stupidest job at the time. All while eyeing up the supplies and such with a look of gluttonous lust and desire. All the while the wind could be heard making you all glad you where in a sheltered valley, and the snow kept falling

After some quick looking around, a relatively sheltered little valley was located, where the party could set up camp, as the first fat, wet flakes of snow begin to fall out of the ever darkening sky.

Can I get another Survival check, with aid if anyone can provide it?

As the day progresses Chalmers is the first to notice that the sky behind you is darkening to a looming grey, a certain bite to the air indicating that the weather is soon about to take a turn, and certainly not for the better.

sorry, things happened this week. All fairly minor, will post later today

right potion of bulls strength. Moving right along...

With the rough hills at now far to the north, the land opens
into a broad grassland where the snow is much sparser. The
sky is overcast and the temperature has risen, making the
march south somewhat easier. For as far as the eye can see,
there is nothing but open ground and great fir trees that dot
the landscape.

Anyone want to make a survival check?

Potion of cure light wounds
2 vials of alchemist fire
Search turned up another potion, and two tanglefoot bags

Among the Goblins themselves, Evanora's words and promise raised a bit of a ruckus, as the entire lot of them seem inclined to get the powerful headdress for themselves.

The shaman does have a potion that detects as magic, as well as a couple vials, a wooden holy symbol, a pouch of 25 gold coins and the dropped dagger and crossbow (both small) and of course a headdress that really only a goblin would love

Any other searching will require perception checks

Down below the Goblins are all chattering up a storm about the great battle, a couple already telling lies about how heroic they were

And with that it goes down like a marionette with it's strings cut. Not so much as a twitch of movement.

slipping out of combat mode now, but feel free to post any other related actions you might wish to take.

Well, I thought that was gonna be the last round

The shaman, seemingly enraged that you're all still there makes a slash at Aurax for hurting him

slash: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6

Down below your companions are making a great deal of excited noise, and there are intermittent sounds of scuffling and arguing.

Up on the tower top, the shaman slashes towards Chalmers' face as he ascends the ladder with her dagger.

shaman dagger: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
damage: 1d3 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0

so that will be a grand total of 1 point of non-lethal. Rub some dirt in it

for simplicity, yeah, let's say you are in melee range for next turn. If it makes it to a next turn.

poor Shaman all alone now.

Goblin 2. Quite unaware of the loss of all his companions, fights on with a manic glee that only a Goblin, or a lunatic could muster. Swinging out at Aurax

goblin sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 1

While the shaman tries to defensively cast a spell

concentration: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

And with a pyromaniac glee, washes a gout of fire over the trio of foes on the tower top. (dc 12 reflex)

fire: 1d4 ⇒ 2

well if you didn't do max possible damage, they might not explode so easy

I think I just need a turn from Talion now

Chalmers would have run into the other goblin before he got to the ladder

there is ladder up the inside, so only the single roll needed to climb it

Oh no, combat is still going. Should be 3 goblins left fighting

Will be switching over to block initiative right after this post

The torch, and the rubbish around it that made up the beacon are quickly doused, and while the fire may not be totally out, it's not likely to do much in the next couple of minutes anyway

While that is going on, it appears your erstwhile companions, are quite eager to loot the dead, the dying, and perhaps anything else that is not nailed down.

Aurax gives Goblin 2 a good hard bite

Next to him, the whisps of smoke from the beacon are begining to gain in strength, but the wind up at the top of the tower is still blowing most of it away. For now.

The Shaman, being presented with another spellcaster, yelled out in goblin
[/b]Icetooth tribe not serve any. You serve us![/b]

And then tossed a bottle of alchemist fire at Evanora

goblin bombing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

miss: 1d8 ⇒ 3

Landing on her right and splashing for a single point of fire

Zot's up next

gobo wil save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12

Unlucky Goblin is feeling a little bit more unlucky right now

Aurax should be up next

slight whoops, should have been Evanora, then Talion

Gobo2 takes a swipe at Aurax with his dogslicer

gobo sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

All while saying something indecipherable but rude sounding about the Shaman seeming to leave.

Goblin 5 comes rushing out of the south tower snapping a shot at Zot

gobo bow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
gobo dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Shirin is up

Shaman shoots at Aurax with crossbow

gobbo crossbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

After shooting at Aurax, the shaman moves over to the ladder

Gobo 5 hurries down the ladder himself

Zot should be next

I've got Aurax marked as next in the init order after Talion

Aurax :17
Chalmers:4
Evanora :23
Shirin :12
Talion :20
Zot :14

Shirin Asal wrote:
Hi guys, are we ready to continue?

Yes, I was actually going to post today, either Aurax goes, or I goes for Aurax

Gobo 4 fires a snap shot at the dragon gobo bow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
bow: 1d4 ⇒ 1
shouting out a jeer in Goblin along the lines of take that lizard thing before descending down the ladder

gobo will save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4

that's going to be a miss

Evanora then Talion

Well, as I am sure you are all aware the person behind Zot has been under the weather, so for expedience sake, and to keep things going, I am going to act on Zot's behalf, unless and until such a time as I get yelled at

Startled and bespelled Goblin in the tower swings his dogslicer at Chalmers

gobo sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
gobo sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

managing to hit in spite of his misfortune
damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Chalmers is up

the Shaman completes what he is doing and tosses a lit torch into the pot on the roof

zot's up

gobo save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15oooh so close

Aurax is up

no, sorry, the two goblins are on the top floor of the tower, Chalmers, the one goblin, and you would be on the bottom

I added a couple of spots for ground floor combat

The Goblins have obviously been lairing in here, the wooden stair that ran up the interior of the tower, along with what would have been a middle floor have long since rotted away, replaced only by crude, but solid enough seeming ladder leading to a currently open wooden hatch at the top.

Chalmers in the process of circling around and in, found himself next to a Goblin, or it found itself next to Chalmers.

Evanora is up with Talion right along behind
