The calendar tool still exists, but I had to take it offline due to the restrictive legislation in the EU and Germany concerning web presences. I am currently reworking several sites to conform to the law.

Please e-mail me at support@jochenlinnemann.de and I will provide you with a temporary link to the old version of the tool.

Thanks, solitary_solidarity!

Currently you can only define 30 months each containing 45 days with 9-day long weeks.

To be able to add seasons I would have to extend the calendar tool.

I guess you mean my site showing that error... It is fixed now and thanks for pointing that out.

If there is nothing out there I may be tempted to write one. I won't be able to start work on it before January, though. But you could use the time till then to work out the requirements of such a tool - that would speed up implementation.

The next release of Grimoire is about to be available in the Windows Store. It will include spells and classes from Ultimate Combat, Advanced Race Guide, Mythic Adventures, and Advanced Class Guide.

I am currently scanning through all the remaining spells and am planning to make them available as an "Everything else" option some time in the future.

Thanks, Laithoron!

On another forum I asked how about getting this app offline on phones and tablets, especially: What platform do you prefer?

Android, iOS, Windows, Windows Phone

Laithoron: I just updated the website with your suggestions, implementing them as optional settings. Please let me know if the resulting PDF is now better to view and use.

I just uploaded a new version that supports saving to PDF.
The moon symbols in the PDF are not looking that good viewed on a screen, but printed they seem OK.

OK, it took a while, but here is my first take on a calendar generator: http://heldenhaufen.de/Ca

Is there a way to use your spell book to create your prepared spells list for the day or track spells per day for spont. casters?

Currently not, but it is on top of my todo list.

You are right, the systems will merge. Already there is a new common base in Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 and in my newest project (Gun Maker for the Traveller 5 game) I used this common base to develop an app for both targets. If I would port Grimoire to this base it will now longer support Windows 8.0, though.

My personal focus is Windows, now and in days coming.

Ah, OK, that is doable :-)

@Haladir: I am working on an Android version for Grimoire. A WinPhone version would be nice, maybe I can put that in before commencing the work on the Android version.

@Quijenoth: Glad you like the roller. It was my first app and would need a new paint job. Roll history, drop highest/lowest is on the TODO list now. But as I did not (yet) look into D&D next (currently very happy with Pathfinder) I do not know what you mean by "differentiate high roll or low roll". Can you give me an example?

@all: I am planning to branch into iOS development soon, any special apps you want to see there, too?

I considered automatic updates based on the public CSV but found the embedded HTML problematic. I had to "manually" correct hundreds of entries to get the result I needed for my purposes. Until I can fully automate these corrections automatic updates will have to wait. Alternatively, I could disable some features or just provide an update mechanism myself. I will consider this.

OK, I will start to work on this in the coming days.

I could imagine doing this as an app, if you dare outlining your requirements.

If you start the app itself, you'll get to choose the spellbook on the very first screen. Pinning spellbooks to the start screen is just for convenience. So, yes, they can be accessed from inside the app.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Today I added a paid version for Android that supports custom languages like the Windows version does: Wg Pro

I am currently experimenting (rather successfully) with porting Win8 Apps to the Desktop (for Win7 and Vista). Would that be of interest for the Grimoire App?

Yes, this is buildable!

As far as I know there is no Win8/Metro emulator. But if you only want to try it, you could download a Win8 trial version and install it in a virtual machine.

Grimoire got downloaded for the 1000th time yesterday and as far as I can tell it actually gets employed during sessions. I want to thank all fans/supporters/users of the app and gift a little goodie to you in the next release. Any wishes?

Via the Win8 Store review mechanism I sometimes receive user questions that I cannot answer as I don't have any means to contact the reviewing user. Therefore I'll answer such questions in my G+ support community:

I am a fan of the Surface RT. I keep all my Pathfinder PDFs on SkyDrive/DropBox to have them available anywhere. Sadly, there have not been many good Pathfinder apps for Win8 available, so I started to write my own. Currently, only Grimoire - a spell reference app - is publicly available. Another useful tool for gm'ing is random word generation, especially when sandboxing and winging it. A comfortable creature library and combat tracker for Win8 would be great, currently nothing there, but I am working on it.

So, if you already own an iPad or an Android tablet stick to that as there are many apps around already. But if you like Windows and are looking for a Win RT or Win8 tablet and are willing to wait for apps to come up in the future, try the Surface (RT or Pro) and let me know if you want to contribute app and feature requirements.

Grimoire R5 just went online...

...though it may take a few more hours until it gets listed in the Windows Store. This release features a preview of the upcoming PDF grimoire export and provides direct access to the associated G+ support community.

Download now!

Glad you like it. Let's keep fingers crossed in hope for Win8 sales to increase so that I can upgrade and port Grimoire and the Magic Item apps to Android.

For all Win8 users: Word Generator for Win8+ now supports loading your own custom languages! Just put together a list of sample words and paste them into the online form to create your own language!

I am really looking forward to this!

Good news, I tested the app successfully on several devices and just released it for free - it's my first Android App ever!

It may take a few hours until the link will work, though: Word Generator

There is a good chance to port other apps to Android, too, especially Grimoire. But to raise the necessary funds to upgrade from Xamarin Starter to Indie, I will have to sell the next version of Word Generator for a buck or so.

Freehold DM wrote:

Uh...the most recent?

Ah, OK. So I will target Android 4.0 and up.

Besides, it isn't that hard to get an app up and running for Android, I realized today (it's almost done). What is hard, at least for me, is letting it look great... (this may take some time, or a second version)

Oh, my. OK, I'll give it a try. But before starting: what version of Android?

Freehold DM wrote:
will it ever be an android app?

Maybe. But not that likely (I am currently not doing any Java at the moment and using .NET directly on Android would force me to spend a lot of money).

EDIT: But it will likely become available as a Windows Phone app...

The Word Generator is now available as an offline-Win8 App.

b) Spell reference

What about this one:

Thalassogen wrote:

Grimoire is a comprehensive electronic spellbook. It covers all magical core classes (Bard, Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Ranger, Sorcerer, and Wizard) and puts a searchable, filterable, groupable list of magical spells right at your fingertips.

The current version also adds the magical base classes and allows creation of your own spellbooks.

I just added Frisian, Lakota, and Turkish - and reorganized the links.

I keep'em both and for each new language I will create both variants.

I just updated the site with a new experimental algorithm to yield "more realistic results".

Just moved the Word Generator to its own site: http://heldenhaufen.de/Wg/

Anymore word lists to publish?

Just added French, Italian and Latin to the mix of languages.

The newest version is online now and supports creation of personal grimoires.

Language "Elanhir" is available now (http://www.heldenhaufen.de/T5/WordMaker).

I am experimenting with random word generators on my Traveller5 web site: http://www.heldenhaufen.de/T5/WordMaker

Some words from certain languages make cool fantasy names, at least in my opinion. I also wrote a little program to derive new language generators from word lists/texts (I used 1M and 300K words for German and English). If someone could give me some longer texts or word lists I could run them through this program an upload the generator on a new site for word generation.

Sorry, no ideas. But I like the generator you linked to and as far as I understand, you are able to give some preference to the offline version, at least the manual says so: http://www.diku.dk/hjemmesider/ansatte/torbenm/Planet/Manual.txt

I would buy the Surface RT. But that's mainly because I like it so much (already have one and would give one of them to my wife) and can program apps for it when those apps are not available yet.

I just added Ultimate Magic to the mix and fixed that pesky bug that crept into the last version (the one that prevented the APG classes from showing in the collection most of the time).

Please feel free to suggest features for future versions. Currently I am planning the following:
* ability to create your own, personalized grimoires
* manage spell preparation and usage as in-game support
* PDF creation for own grimoires (summary sheets and spell cards)

A new version is available now containing classes and spells of the Advanced Player's Guide. This additional content is optional and can be selected/deselected based on the preferences of your gaming group.

No, sorry. It uses the new Win8 Metro app style and that isn't available on older platforms. I wrote this app with tablets (like the Surface RT) in mind, but it is working fine on desktops and notebooks, too, as long as they are running Windows 8 and up.
