Thanks Kuey, everything looks good (both the reporting and the chronicle). I don't have a Welcome to Pathfinder boon, strangely enough, so if you're willing to put one together I'd love one.

Otherwise, thanks for the fun game all. Really enjoyed the RP and I think we worked together well (especially when Tellerin was a bit of a dead weight in the final sequence :>). Hopefully we can all play together again in a future game.

Wow, I did not tie those dots together at all. Its still not obvious to me if there's a point to these portals other than to cause chaos.

Tellerin hides in an alleyway with everyone else, looking from end to end juuuust in case another portal springs into existence. After a minute of safety he takes a breather.

"Yep, we're safe! Key in hand and all in one piece. I'll take it." He nods with Uther "They really were something! Both the Heidmarches and the other Pathfinders. I hope one day we can stand toe to toe with them, but I guess until then the stories will have to be about them rather than about us."

"Hmm, on that note... I did get some inspiration today." He clears his throat.

"The Tale of Sheila the Steal-a!"

Tellerin launches into a dramatized retelling of the day's events, casting Sheila Heidmarch in the leading role as she smashes and grabs (and sometimes smashes some more) everything in sight to steal the funds needed to take the Key for her beautiful KEY COLLECTION! The daring Sheila, beating up Aspis goons under moonlight! The cunning Shiela, fooling nobles and old museum owners alike! The fierce Sheila, shouting ratfolk knaves and ancient ghosts into submission! And with every foe felled another coin for her coffer.

After each mission, Sheila the Steala says her catchphrase: "Remember kids, we’re still trying to win the auction somewhat legally!"

Grinning, Tellerin interrupts his tale and says "Well, I'm still working on the ending. I'm not sure if it should be good for her or not! At least, not yet."

Tellerin waves his arms in the air and shouts "Lets go Nigel! Everyone else, keep retreating even after you stop being frightened! We'll have to leave those hounds for the other Pathfinders.!"

He extends his hands into the air, tracing out tattoo patterns with his fingertips, and calls out a quick incantation. With a flourish of sparks, a massive floating metal cage appears around the Yeth Hounds, its interior a web of jagged barbs. Casting Silent Image, DC15 Will to disbelieve on interaction

Hope the illusion delays them enough that we can get some distance and everyone can get their focus back!

Yeah, Yeth Hounds in groups are a lot worse than their CR would indicate. So this is a fight that I'd consider dicey even for a tier 3-4 group! As I said over in gameplay, I'm OK to tap out.

Tellerin, despite plenty of reason to fear these terrible creatures, somehow manages to stand his ground. Not that he was particularly inclined to stand his ground for long... with just himself and Nigel here and not even an eagle for company this was looking very dangerous.

"Nigel, no point for that spell, your eagle looks too spooked to fight! Let's run, we can't do much of anything against these monsters alone!" I hope you can revise your magic fang cast now that you know the eagle is out of commission.

Tellerin runs for it, joining his panicked allies to the south. If those demon dogs want to follow... I have one last spell. I've got to make it count.

If I had a scroll of remove fear I'd argue to stay, but as is I think we should bow out.

"More of them! Uh, isn't there a way to get this closed before we have four, ten, a HUNDRED OF THESE THINGS!?" Tellerin's voice rises with panic at the thought. Nevertheless, he considers his options and realizes that his best may be to simply distract the devils so his allies have a better chance of landing their own blows.

He draws his dagger and circles outside the red lemure's reach before stepping in to try to distract it with an untrained swing.

It's probably for the best that Tellerin is rolling low on initiative all the time. I don't think he has anything that affects these lemures. DR and fire immunity = sad pyromancer gnome. I have a silent image to provide some soft control if a fight looks difficult.

On the topic of additional waves... well, Tellerin is a dead weight here if they're just going to be increasing numbers of devils. So keep that in mind :>

Tellerin releases an anxious breath at William coming back to his feet. He steps over and claps the paladin on the (lower) back reassuringly "Thanks for covering us William."

As for the portal, Tellerin inspects it with detect magic to get a feeling for what to expect, and maybe how to stop it.

"I can't make heads or tails of this thing. The assassin mentioned Lissala, one of the Runelords, so maybe its related to the Key in some way. Anyone see a magic lock nearby we can put the Key in to lock this portal?"

Tellerin turns away from the gruesome eagle attack. It's just too awful to watch. Truly, no one deserves The Birds.

Tellerin reloads his crossbow, fumbling with the bolt in a panic as he sees William fall. After three or four attempts, one which nicks his finger, he gets it in place and winds the weapon back. He aims quickly and fires in what he hopes is the right direction.

The bolt flies well wide, though perhaps that's for the best!

Tellerin reloads his crossbow and carefully lines up another shot against the assassin. He hesitates for quite a while, looking for an opening between his allies. As soon as he sees one, he fires.

Tellerin, confident that Lumo as the other caster under control, draws his crossbow and fires a shot into the gloomy darkness to try to hit the thief. The shot is made even more difficult by the tumult of melee combat.

Tellerin steps to the side and calls out "Stop trying to run! Even if you get away from us, there are two dozen other much more experienced and way less nice Pathfinder teams hunting you!"

He traces out the pattern for burning hands on his tattoos and sends a wave of fire out to the south to engulf the yellow cultist trying to aid the assassin.

For some reason Google Slides won't load properly for me right now. I'll just go ahead and post something simple to not hold things up.

Tellerin huffs and puffs from the long run to catch up with the assassin. He leans over, hands on knees, sweat dripping, and tries to think about how to help Uther and William.
With a broad sweep of one arm, a spark pulls free of his tattoos and flies towards the thief. Just as it arrives in front of their face, it billows into a bright globe of light before fading.

Using flare as an SLA. DC14 FORT save or dazzled for 1 minute.

This has got to be the busiest nighttime street I've ever seen!

Tellerin runs full pelt ahead, and uses his "dragon voice" (From the tale of Magheir and the Dragon) to demand "Get that cart out of our way!"

Intimidate: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 - 2 = 6

Without the leadup that a normal oratory performance would have, the voice falls a bit flat.

Tellerin halts dead in his tracks as he comes up to the most dangerous obstacle to be encountered yet: William. He clears his throat "Uh, William? That junk there didn't do anything to you, did it? Mind-" he pauses as another sword slice hacks into the junk "-mind waiting for me-" junk goes flying "-to get past?"

As soon as there's a break in the action, Tellerin tries to find a stable path up and over the junk.

Tellerin raises his voice and pitches it to sound far more grandiose. With irritation ringing in his voice he shouts "Mayor's retinue coming through, make way, make way!!!".

He quickly scoots through the gap in the crowd that hopefully opens up.

Chases. Why'd it have to be chases?

Tellerin momentarily gets excited when he spots a flash of the assassin thief between some houses, but the sobers up quickly when he realizes just how far ahead she is. "No choice but to follow, huh?" Better hope one of the other Pathfinder groups has members with quicker feet than ours. I'm not built for this!

He follows the swirls and eddies of the packed crowd as he tries to make it further down the street.

Tellerin steps forward and weaves a pattern across his tattoos. His fingers trail sparks into the air as his tattoos flash. With a sharp incantation, he flings his free hand in the direction of the orange-robed mage and a wave of fire pours out at him!

After the jet of fire has passed, Tellerin quickly reloads his crossbow.

Tellerin quickly surveys the cathedral to figure out where he's most needed. He spots Lumo struggling with yet more grease and heads over to support him. "I've got you, Lumo! Just... a... moment..." He ducks and twists out of range of the lemure devil as he escapes!

I've got a good feel OOC for what this new creature is, so I'm hoping one of you guys has KN Planes so I can use that In Character :>

Tellerin punches a fist into the air as one of the two summon monster spells fizzles "Nice shot Uther!" Of course, this leaves him totally open for the newly formed flesh monster to slash him with a claw.

He falls back as carefully as he can (5ft step), reloads his crossbow, and then wavers between shooting the horror that just appeared or the robed spellcaster to the west.

Got to take out this guy before he finds another scroll like that one!

Tellerin squawks in alarm and comprehension "The two hiding behind the pillars are serious mages! Trying to summon something strong!" Summon Monster III from both orange and yellow, to be specific. One round casting time, so they could be interrupted.

He steps out of the mist and tumbles over one of the pews, drawing his light crossbow in the process. He takes aim at the orange robed man and fires!

As the auction proceeds, Tellerin alternates between polite and attentive clapping, and feeling vaguely sick at the manipulations that Heidmarch forced them to undertake. Under his breath he says "Still think the Doctor should have had his chance." and louder he mentions "Table Seven, that's one of ours, isn't it? One of the 'elites'? I wonder if their group was bothered by how corrupt Hei-"

His slightly surly musings are cut short by a gasp as the assassin grabs the Key! Before Tellerin can more than twitch into action, the shattering windows send him cowering behind a pew.

Tellerin gives an exaggerated sigh "No you idiot, we're going to toss you out of the city so you can escape her! You're a fool for sticking around. Get out, get away, and you can come back when the heat's died down a bit. Or you could just move. I've heard Korvosa is nice this time of year."

As a quiet aside to William and Nigel, Tellerin says "Fellow seems even more desperate and crazy than I'd expect. And what's he afraid of going back to?" His brow furrows. "Well, step back you two, lets see if we can open the door without getting killed by it."

Once William isn't right next to it, Tellerin casts Open upon the door, hoping that if Dymal intended to flee by it, he would not lock it.

"Darn it Tinks, what are you doing? Is this how you always greet people here to help you?" Tellerin puts his hands on his hips and taps his foot. He looks up at William with an expression of 'can you believe this guy?'.

Tellerin isn't very fast and doesn't have a lot of nonlethal options, so he's going to be staying put with William.

Raising his voice to be heard through the door, Tellerin tries to aid William's arguments "We caught wind of the trouble you're in and we're here to help. Come on over and talk to us! There's no need for panic!"

After the briefing but before arriving at the inn, Tellerin muses "It seems almost no one who wants this Key has their act together. They're all just using the event for some kind of ulterior purpose, and doing a bad job of it at that. Even the Society seems to want the Key more for show than for any real reason. Poor Key! The fella gets unearthed and rather than its story being unraveled and explored, it's just used as an excuse for politics." He brings both hands up to cover a massive yawn "And we've been running across the city all day. Anyone else tired?"

"As for Mr. Rinks, I think he'll be willing to leave if we're up front with him. Let him know that we know of his problems with Minvandu and that his best bet is to leave town for a while. What do you all think?"

Later, at the inn, Tellerin wipes tiredness from his eyes and steps forward to knock on the door to room 3B. "Hellooooo? Mr. Tinks?"

"If its not a trap, we COULD hide the gold somewhere until the auction is over. Like we did for the caravan. Otherwise they might come back any time to pick it up...?" Tellerin's tone of voice betrays that he's way out of his depth here. He can't make heads or tails of why this gold was left here in a complicated arrangement.

He does help Jacinth look around when he sees her searching for evidence.

Tellerin, hearing that the Landers fellow seems to have invited the group in, waits until he's headed back inside and then joins the party. He whispers "I sent Cups in. He hasn't come back yet, so he probably didn't find anything dangerous. I hope..."

As the group goes on in, Cupper bounds over to climb up onto Tellerin's shoulder. The little fox gets a quick cuddle as Tellerin quietly asks "So what's going on here. He's just willing to let us in now that we've mentioned the Duchesses? That doesn't seem right?"

His skepticism only grows when the group finds the gold "The Duchesses just left some gold with Landers here? This is exactly when a trap would be sprung on unsuspecting heroes in any story!" He quickly casts detect magic to check the chest, room and hallway for any magic auras.

Oops, I totally misunderstood the map. Looks like Cupper is in though, so I'll just continue on with him.

Tellerin keeps out of sight and crosses his fingers that this interrogation proves fruitful.

Maybe if he gets too mad but doesn't reveal anything, I can 'stop by' and take his side. Defend him a bit. Play a little bit of good guard, bad guard.

Tellerin hides around the corner of the building and listens in, trying to judge from the fellow's tone of voice if he's being deceptive.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

While his party keeps the fellow busy, he focuses on his fox tattoo and draws Cupper back out. He puts his finger up to his lips to keep the fox quiet and then whispers "Hey Cups, I'll throw you up there, check if there's anyone else hiding inside, or if there's anything scary, OK? Don't be a hero, run right out if anything spots you."

With that said, he lifts the little fox up and gives it a boost onto the balcony.

@kuey: Yep, the west, lit window, since its blocked with a curtain and presumably some one or something is inside to necessitate the light.

Tellerin has his arms crossed and doesn't look satisfied as the group is debriefed and re-briefed. "The most interesting story here is definitely that note! I hope it's not going to one of the other Pathfinder teams for them to sort out. I would hate to miss a dramatic unmasking of some wicked enthusiast of ancient Thassilon."

"But I guess we have more competitors to sabotage..." He sighs "At least these ones are some kind of evil, minor as it'll probably be."

Once at the manor, Tellerin takes a brief look around while Christina scouts. "So are the Duchesses here to gather more gold from their associate? Or something else? Its really tough to decide how to do this with how little we know." Suddenly his eyes widen with realization "Do you think they keep their second floor windows braced shut? Because I have a spell that could open the window if they aren't! Maybe Christina could hear what they're chatting about inside! With the curtain drawn they won't even notice it's ajar."

Tellerin sneaks over to the side of the house and (unless someone stops him) casts Open on the window above with a swish of his fingers and a single syllable. He tries to open the window just an inch.

Tellerin pulls back when its clear his attempt at interrogation was doing more to help the rat-guy's self esteem than anything else. He follows along with Lumo to the back room and looks through the paperwork stored back there.

"Awfully suspicious, awfully suspicious..." He flips through paper after paper of mundane information. "That story about 'legitimizing funds' seems weird. There should have been an easier way to do it than entering an auction for a giant key."

When Christina uncovers the note, he climbs up onto a table to get a good look at it. "Hmmm." He rubs at his eyebrows as he thinks about what it might mean "It's not the Vaors or Underbridge Exports who are interested in the Key then. Someone gave them a deposit to place on their behalf? And 'sowing the seeds' could mean?" He crosses his arms. "One thing's for sure, that there is an ancient Thassilonian symbol. The Key looks the same way. Not sure why someone would stamp that on their message though..."

He heads on over to the half-rat and puts his hands on his hips "Maybe yes, maybe no. Depends if what we're looking for is here or not. Is it?" He lets the ratty fellow mull that over for only a second or two before blindsiding him with "Why are the Vaors after it? Where did that gold come from?"

Tellerin looks upward, trying to put an angry scowl on his face and failing miserably.

@kuey: Red Rat should take 1d6 fire damage at the end of their turn unless they tried to extinguish themselves with a reflex save.

Confident that the rest of the group can handle a single rat person, Tellerin pursues the remaining archer with Jacinth. To her sudden comment he (rather excitedly) replies "Yes fire! What, never seen a fire spell before?" As he speaks he ducks to the side and brings his crossbow up to point at the fleeing archer. He quickly aims and fires!

OK, time to bring out the aborted surprise round description!

Tellerin's fingers trace a complex web of patterns against the tattoos along his arms and with a single smooth motion he whips them towards the ratty looking leader. With a sharp intonation, a wide jet of fire sweeps over the ratfolk (?) and across the crates stacked on either side (Burning hands 15ft cone firing south)!

Burning Hands, w/ Burning Amplification: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 3) + 4 = 12 DC14 reflex for half. Burning Amplification: Any enemies damaged are lit on fire, taking 1d6 fire damage at the end of their turn unless they make a DC15 reflex to put themselves out.

After casting his spell he heads past Lumo to get into position to flank another of the thugs.

Tellerin squawks in alarm when the volley of arrows strike Lumo and William, all thoughts of stories and pretenses being thrown out the window. He scurries past the legs of Jacinth and Lumo and takes in the ambush and mutters "Hope the evidence here isn't flammable!"

Tellerin whispers "I guess from their silence they're up to no good. Not surprising though."

While Uther presses on in trying to open the door, Tellerin will stand to the side, out of view of the opening, and mentally runs through what story to use when the occupants start asking questions.

Tellerin stares upwards at the massive stone bridge above him, and then squints worriedly at the buildings possibly housing dangerous people all around. "Not a big fan. This feels like a place to get shanked." After a full turn of taking in the surroundings, he scratches his eyebrows and looks up at the warehouse.

"We could knock... I have no idea what to expect. Usually the stories have these kinds of places turning into the site of a massive brawl. Over a blood debt or something. People getting fed to the fishes." He shrugs "What are we going to ask if we knock? I doubt being up-front is going to be as productive as it was for the doctor."

"Maybe we say we're from the auction and their bid has been rejected because the gold was fake? That should get the leader out and arguing with us pretty quick."
