Telessar looks at the pair shakes his head and leaves.

Sczarni

Sylvan:
They rewarded my good service with a title. I neither want or need to send anyone anywhere they do not choose to go. It is more of a bother than anything else.

You brother follow the Taldan way beyond reason. How many times will you follow that human, Morilla, before you die..again?

Sczarni

A severe looking elf in the black colors of Pharasma strides through the door. The make of these items appears Varisian in nature, perhaps even of Scarni make. Oddly he bears a fine Aldori blade sheathed at his belt. He walks to the arguing pair of elves, with an air of command. He extends a formal elven greeting before continuing in Taldane.

Nice little place this is. I wasn't aware of a family reunion, I trust I am not late.

He takes a seat near the pair, and turns a small pouch of gold over on the table. The coins are of an odd design. 10 perception, 15 knowledge history - ancient thassalonian coins.

Sit, I will pay for food and wine, while we talk. Here little brothers, your seats await you.

Sczarni

I missed the convocation. Maybe Ill catch the next one, it sounds bracing

"Be that as it may, Telessar... There is no where else on Golorian that is like home."

Ery gives a friendly nod while waving his hand whilst he spoke.

Yes, should I have the option in the future, I shall refrain from running my opponents through to prove they are not immortal..... It just seem the right thing to do a the time.

Eryzule, Lord of Tea wrote:

Ery nods as Spear takes off.

Returning to Telessar he smirks.
"I travel with quite a group myself... but a woman with that kind of spirit would be a great boon."
He shrugs at the thought. "Hope she doesn't end up behind bars."

I hope she does, breaking her out would yield a valuable ally, and an afternoon of amusement.

Yes, I am from Kyonin, but I can bever return. I had a philosophical disagreement which turned lethal..Telessar shrugs. The world outside Kyonin is large enough I guess.

Eryzule, Lord of Tea wrote:

"Glad to see you join us. How was your training?"
Ery gives the elf a once over, noting his Pharasmaian colors.

"Tellesar of house Talimah," as he formally bows in the manner of Kyonin society.

"This is like breathing. Practice starts when blood spills on the ground to the music of the dying. Yet here in pleasent Absolom true contests are not allowed. So, I spend time making Aldori swords. It passes the time...."

Sczarni

The thin elf sword continues to fence with his shadow. Seeing an advantage he breaks the shadow's guard and performs a wrist cut disarm. The disarmed shadow glides over to it's blade and picks it up.

Telessar glides over to the newly elven spear wielder, fox, and friends. His shadow follows behind. The odd elf tilts his head, then slides his gleaming Aldori sword into a black scaled hide scabbard. (An elven inscription along the blade - No greater sin than keeping The Lady waiting). The elf bears no symbols (but the colors are in synch with Pharasman clergy.) He wears no armor, yet bears none of the scars typically found in a warrior.

He speaks (in Elven) - "Ecletic afternoon to bring Calistria's courtier into the sun light. I pray the work has not caused you any discomfort.

Sczarni

Telessar breaks his fascination with Dragon borne Pathfinders. He smiles to all the new comers in the field, then returns to "shadow boxing"

Sczarni

Telessar shows an odd fascination with the mention of Kyonin. May I inquire on the names of those individuals you wish to sell with an origin of Kyonin?

Sczarni

This isnt something you see everyday. Pathfinder's cooperating in mounted teamwork combat.

Its so mesmerizing, I cant help but watch...

Sczarni

Telessar admires the fencing demonstrations and lunges into his own shadow.

spellstrike - vampiric touch (cl17)
swift - upgrade sword to +5 keen
power attack
Attack: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (11) + 25 = 361d8 + 19 ⇒ (1) + 19 = 202d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 52d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 101d6 ⇒ 38d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 2, 4, 4, 4, 1) = 24

Shadow AC - 15, Result - hit
Incorporeal 1/2 damage

20+holy 5+ vicious 10 = 35/2 = 17 slashing to shadow (18 due to inspire)
vicious dmg to Telessar = 3
vampiric touch = 24

The shadow is rent across the midsection, but a negative energy waves courses through the blade restoring the companion fully. The shadow returns the attack.

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 301d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Telessar AC - 38 (threat on 19), Result - Miss (31 with inspire)

The attack veers upward as the elf sidesteps away. Both combatants return to a guard position and salute.

Sczarni

Telessar spins his Aldori sword in one hand contemplating the fight.

Sczarni

A worn elf in plain clothes without armor, smiles at the assembled martial expertise. He draws a finely crafted aldori sword and begins dancing to a tune unheard. A darkness extends around him as his own shadow separates to join the dance.

Sczarni

Doing a run from lv12-19 in Rise of the Runelords, the cleric in our group kept the party from a single death including 2 breath of life spells, until the final battle where a group of 2's on saves followed a group of 1's.

Wow this thread exploded. Not to derail, but to clarify the random facts about my vampire anecdote.

** spoiler omitted **
They are just your regular vanilla Bestiary vamps that are level 8 sorcerers and thusly have 8d6 fireballs. They also have +8 to Initiative. With the initial grouped combat, they got something like a 27 on initiative and beat the entire party, as our kensai and others did roll below average. We were clumped because we had just opened the door when 13 fireballs simultaneously hit for a total of 104d6 points of damage.
.

I played that, never was evasion more loved in my career than at that point.

Hi, my name is Telessar of Telessar's fine aldori blades and immortality confirmation. What do we do here you may ask?

First we make the finest swords possible in your choice of metal. Polished, sharpened, engraved, and finished with the best spells money can buy. Or as we say in Kyonin, the best sword you can afford.

Second, we offer training classes to use your sword to it's greatest efficacy. We care the most about you, your personal fighting style, and your choice in fine arms.

Third, with our deep knowledge of local laws and tradituons, we step you through the permit process. Let us help you wear your weapon with pride and the confidence of knowing, it's legal.

Finally, if you consider yourself immortal I will personally validate your status by running an Aldori sword through your person. Certificates of immortality are available for the survivors.

Thank you for choosing Tellesar's, we appreciate your business.

Sczarni

Elven kensai can take the aldori sword (I did)

Sczarni

I have a +24 init modifier magus lv 18, I have uncanny dodge through shadowdancer. I get to add int to damage through kensai, going first (better yet - going first in the surprise round followed by first in the following round) has been very good to me.

My cleric of Asmodeus is +8, being able to move (in/out) of danger as the party needs tends to save lives.

I rarely drop init, its a form of offense and defense. But there are times when you have no choice.

Sczarni

My shadow uses a +1 menacing ghost touch sword. His flank bonus then goes up to +4. I never attacked with the sword.

Kensai shadowdancer worked well for me as I needed uncanny dodge (most of my ac is gone if flatfooted)

I used the shadow for gathering info through doors and thin walls. He was good in tandem with Lefty's shadow to drain strength off major foes.

Sczarni

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Stick a whip in there and cause disarms and trips from a distance

Sczarni

Except you folks keep thinking touch spells are targeted spells, they are not.

Sczarni

I tend to use these in combat.

Spellstrike w spell combat. Capable of being critted (if I can roll a hit)

For a key foe I tap in my spell storing weapon with magic missile on a hit. I don't think the targeted spell (like magic missile) can be a touch spell (like shocking grasp)

When I get hit (rarely) I use my spell storing armor (here is your prize) to deliver a stored touch spell like intensified shocking grasp.

The only time you get a roll is on the spell combat/spell strike. The others occur without a roll.

Sczarni

I'm at 19.2, whenever I can gm the rrrc ill go to 20.

Sczarni

"Get a proper name... Drow aren't elves, and sadly you aren't either." Telessar responds as he moves away from the impersonator.

"Its a waste of time to study history, stick them with your blade and see if they bleed. Enchant your weapon sufficiently and you don't really have to ask who they are. Carry adamantine and anything that doesn't bleed gets chopped up into little pieces."

"Grimoir explain it to him." Telessar walks back to the front. His shade twists his head slightly and bows and glides away. The shade seems unable to add more.

Sczarni

Telessar examines the dead with grim fascination. "A warning you say, but for whom..."

The elf glares at Righty and turns away.

"I would like to meet the blade that dispatched so many. I do not understand the use of poison.. gazing back to Grimoir, it is not an efficient method of weakening the foe. Maybe its a cultural habit."

Sczarni

I think Val is either held, in stasis, or dead. Too bad we're in the underdark or we could poke him with a stick.

Sczarni

That's an adventure Id like to participate in guarding uncle gorilla.

Sczarni

Having a respectable merchant to fence our finds is a novel idea.

Sczarni

In any event...Telessar begins the day with ablative barrier, mage armor, and overland flight. He recalls these via his pearls of power and adds armor to his shade. He checks his wrist sheathes and places a wand of create pit and a wand of murderous command therein. Telessar and Grimoir draw swords and glide out 200 feet awaiting the march.

Sczarni

If we destabilize this area by dispatching too many of one creature we embolden their neighbors to come for us, as a simple matter of survival.

I would not mind a few "conscripts" to gain a broader local knowledge.

Sczarni

"At 200 feet we can use message communication. My range is around 270ft Thus grimoir need not leave my side." Telessar hands the scarab beetle to his shade, "The lady blesses us this day." The normally oblivious elf is brimming with joy...an unsettling sight or an improvement depending on your mood.

Sczarni

(Message)
A. He's a gnome
B. Look at the obvious skin condition.
C. I hope the druid has remove disease.

Sczarni

Telessar holds his (gloved) hand up to yours awaiting the inevitable.

Sczarni

I do enjoy your enthusiasm Pontificor the Great. The elf is smiling and cradling a scarab beetle in his fingers. I caught this one just as I left the cathedral. The lady smiles on me.

Sczarni

Telessar returns in the morning awaiting the start of the next grand game.

Sczarni

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Consider 2 levels of shadowdancer (gives you uncanny dodge)

Sczarni

Telessar tucks his shadow into his bag of holding. Lays a hand on the Taldan and walks back to the teleportation area. He pauses to incribe a glowing sigil (a glowing aldori sword cloaked in darkness). He closes his eyes and reopens them back in the chambers of Pharasma in Absolom. Go about your business, I will speak with the lady. He pauses to bribe the guards, who point out a priest walking the halls. He then pays for both a blessing and a communion and is ushered to the throne for these services. Telessar's prayer follows:

My lady of death, your humble servant returns to this temple perhaps for the last time. In the deep places of the earth there are many who slander your grand game. Too long do they bide your summons. They wait and watch and fear you, help me bring them to your embrace. Help me remove their fears. Look kindly on these gifts o great Pharasma. Until my final day, where I too will walk the paths of the Dead.

Sczarni

Which means I have a Taldan to teleport unless he's changed his mind.

Sczarni

My travels to that place were odd. I did not get the chance for a true contest there. Perhaps a third trip would be good for me. I may even try the poisoned food.

Sczarni

We are sure to die. Here there now or later. Inevitable as the night.

Lefty and I laid a dozen demons to rest. His whereabouts afterward are unknown. I don't think he enjoys the wildlife.

Nerosyn suits my nature. I need not search or hunt down my quarry it simply comes to die. A most convenient place. I may buy a house there someday, but the place may drive me insane ... but what real estate purchase is without risk?

Sczarni

Yzarchtihstab, I have a single available Teleport. I can drop you off in the Temple of Pharasma in Absolom then return here in the morning. In that manner Val Morik's spell list can be attuned towards the trip. I will prepare a 2nd Teleport for evacuation purposes. This produces the smallest risk to the venture and deposits you for your next meeting with Ambrus. I will only be down a Telekinesis spell for a single day. A minor inconvenience compared with the alternative.

Sczarni

Ven permit me to light Grimoir's sword. My ability to blend in shadows needs a shadow. I've noticed his presence may limit trivial threats. I am not familiar with your background. Do you employ ranged or personal weapons?

I tend to only fight when necessary. Should we detect a group of enemies I am more apt to live and let live. Please let me know your thoughts on the dark's denizens. It is truly my blindspot.

Sczarni

"I was simply invited to explore the world and report my findings. I doubt they expected my return with a group of pathfinders. I may have risked their lives unnecessarily as we were dispatched to the tanglebriar upon arrival. I will not return again."

"Yes, a weasel insulted my theory that no one is immortal - liches, vampires, sun orchid users, and by my count at least 2 divine beings have gone to the grave. His view was that elves in comparison to shorter lived races were nearly immortal. I challenged him on the suject and disarmed him literally. As the light began to die in his eyes I whispered, say hello to the lady Pharasma for me."

"I am less interested in history. The sorceress is much more charming than old stories of dead weasels."

Telessar conjures and then directs an unseen servant to sample items which Violetta has already tried.

Sczarni

I am a member of Absolom's mortality guild. Though in truth it is headed by a Taldan, there is no downplay of the Szarni membership.

The members often talk regarding the work and methods available. In my travels their guidance has been useful. For ones such as us simple cut throats are not the preferred way. Indeed even hired mages are far more expensive and less reliable than a simple final last meal. I however would not resort to these methods, when I send gifts to Pharasma they must be personal.

I am sure you mean well, and my esteemed cousin of Kyonin would not turn down a meal. My three hours of eating time are spent in preparation and observation while merged to the shadows. If we are to be attacked here, I will be ready.

Sczarni

"Grimoir and I will abstain. His food is of a different nature, and I no longer eat." Telessar opens a sack at his side and his shadow seeps into the opening. The ghostly Aldori blade passes between them, ending up sheathed behind the elf's back. Telessar then moves to the edge of the table and vanishes into the shadow beneath it.

"I must say this is the finest cave I have dwelled within. Also the first one. It does not seem unpleasant. Yet it also feels wrong in a sense. One sudden movement of the ground and our deaths would be certain. I may come to enjoy this."

Sczarni

I will try the food. Grimoir do prepare yourself. We may die soon. Telessar begins a pair of incantations imbuing his sword and armor with offensive spells. Prior to the port, I will armor, shield, fly, and vanish. I would similarly study this method of transport, so as to have multiple routes in future. Tel then recovers his spent spell with a string of pearls strung as a necklace of prayer beads.

Sczarni

I think you mean Val Morik, Kyros. I do not recommend having to rely on my words to secure any fellowship. I prefer conversations with my blade firmly in the stomach of the foe. I tend to as such make them quick.

Sczarni

If I die in my last missions its for szarni. If I live hello Darkive!

Sczarni

I earn my negative charisma score from time to time. My sincerest apologies for all the offenses prior and including today. I cooperate best in my more natural environment. In the dim light of Grimoir's blade, blending into the shadows is where I feel right. I can be here...and quiet...and gone. Maybe none too soon for some....Telessar blends into shadows of the the dimly lit, ghostly, Aldori sword,
