Just roll with the adventure as written on this. Personally I dont sweat the details and mechanics, only use them as storytelling tools. Ordu-Arganhei was one of the most memorable and fun parts of any adventure path I have run. Just my 2 cents worth. Jade Regent is an under-rated AP (I am now running Rise of the Runelords as a prequel to Jade Regent with Tsuto trying to take out Ameiko as a sub plot filler).
I think my favourite NPC was Morten. Played like a creepy germanic type with a high pitched artist/doctor sophisticated unhinged personality.
My group has two players and have made it to the well of demons (book 6) in maybe 3 sessions we should finish the adventure path... (we have been playing for over two years)-The group only have a halfling summoner with a tank type Eidolon, a human monk and a dmpc witch. I added a few side adventures tailored for the smaller party but ran everything else as written. Remember not to hammer them with pointless random encounters. Its been a pretty sweet ride.
captain yesterday wrote: I am currently running Jade Regent for my wife and two kids (ages around 8-9) and they are having a blast!! i only had to switch out one monster in book 1. we are currently ankle deep into book 2, i would recommend Jade Regent or Kingmaker. Jade Regent....Agreed, I have a 9yr, 15yr and two old school gamers in my group. We are starting book 3. The kids are loving it with the grognards rolling their eyes at a few of the outrageous decisions the young guys have made. I generally use the AP as a guideline to keep the group on track and improve most of it anyway. You can never plan what kids are going to do next in roleplaying games.
Jade Regent starting with we be goblins is a lot of role playing family fun. I just mined the king maker AP for extra caravan encounters-(put Olegs and the Staglord in the Nolands ect). Its up to your players to bring the role playing element to the game especially if they have a set path to take. As a GM its fun mimicking the Scandi/Asian accents over the journey. My players are also role playing the fish out of water scenarios with the various culture clashes in the AP. |
