From what little I know about making these games the biggest barrier to introducing new races is armor skins. Since gnomes and halflings have very similiar body sizes I would think introducing them both could be doable.
I hope so, because I know some of our members are really looking forward to the halflings, as well as others who love gnomes!

That would be great. More broadly, variety in character creation is something highly valued for MMOs (and a long-standing tradition in tabletop games limited only by imagination and creativity). Seeing too many doppelgangers running around because players are limited to a select few cookie cutter creation choices can take a bit of the punch away from an immersive gaming experience.
Have they written about the character creation process in any detail aside from race/class choices? The tech demo had only models for the iconic Pathfinder heros, which didn't lend any idea of the customizability they will implement.

I haven't seen any specifics on character creation, but I've seen quite a bit of people who want to make sure it's a very robust system.
I took a recording of our meeting last night and will be putting it up on our forums soon, for people who weren't able to make it. Also, we got a list our our titles and our basic outline of officer ranks up too in our RP forums. Like always in a game still being developed, things may be altered before release, heh.

For those who could not make it, or just want to hear me say "uh" more times than is strictly necessary check out the recording here.
Being our first teamspeak meeting, we concentrated more on Pax member "buy in" to the crowdforging process, went over the game (Thanks to Forencith), then moved on to other subject. After the introduction we covered roleplay, our in works charters, our event aspirations, and more.
I think it was a fruitful get together and I look forward to hosting more in the near future.

I am Areks Kel'gorian and I approve this message.
On a serious note, I'm looking forward to the RP Meeting.
Kard = "People will spend tons of money and invest their lives in this game"
I think some already have. And Dak, your "uhs" were not as bad as my non-coherent rambling about the "parent child / settlement kingdom" relationship. LOL.

Yeah, I'm just curious as to how interactive they will be with the whole "Crowdforging" process. I'd like to see them lay out ideas, get our feedback (which they have been doing), keep us updated on features we've been briefed (somewhat happening), let us see the features in action (will prolly happen much closer to alpha than we are now), poll us to see how close they are to meeting their intent, reevaluate if necessary.
The only areas I see them lacking in right now is consistency of updates across the board. Again, this is understandable because of the state of flux they are in at this stage. You don't want to take away an hour of productivity to make a webcast on something that changes drastically two days later.
What I could see done is a place we could go to see a list of features that they have talked about and we are interested in. We could select a feature and get a history on what changes it has gone through. They could also let us know the reason for the changes and why original plans didn't work. This would solve a lot of the "well what about that thing with the skills that they mentioned in the 4th blog". We all know skills have gone through some changes, I'd like to see how their "no class" skill based system is playing out.

Thank you for posting the meeting recording. It was a great summary of major game mechanics and Pax Aeternum's intentions for PfO. I recommend a listen for people who don't have the time to synthesize information across the thread(s) on those topics.
I am glad you liked it Beil. Thanks for your PM, we are always more than happy to give prospective recruits every bit of information we can. How else can either party really know if the fit is right?
I look forward to seeing your app within the next couple of days, and Happy Holidays Everyone :)

Heyas all!
Thanks to Kard for recording the meeting and getting it posted up so fast! I had wanted to attend it myself, and even gave it a good try, but was unable to be at my desk that long so it was nice to not miss it entirely.
Yeah a lot of Pax Gaming holiday events going on in our various divisions, it is great to see. With so many games being f2p now it is even better because it means many of us can now "afford" to hope around to all of the events.
May your holiday seasons be all Natural 20's everyone!

I'm really hoping that we'll have options for choosing our appearance in-game, much like LOTRo. It makes RP so much better!
I would be highly suprised if PfO's visual character creator was more restrictive than Lotro. This is an ongoing conversation, here is it's most recent and thorough thread incarnation:
I am sure if Forencith and Nihimon happen to stumble upon our little thread they will be able to educate us both on the entirety of the history of the conversation.
Either way that thread is meaty and fairly current. Its a good place to get involved :)

Definitely want this.

Well, due to my personal character development Gilsa will not be my main upon release, so I have updated my info on here to reflect that. She is not disappearing though. Let's just say she is hibernating in her wagon-hammock for the winter. ;) So my human cleric of Sarenrae, Thera, is now on deck.
I voted for Pax Aeternum of course. Go team go!
As for the above comments...
Thera can drink Kard Warstein under the table anyday too.

Naturally after I post such a nice thing about Gilly in my character's bio, lol. I look forward to you cleric too, though. *chuckles*

Well, we are third as of right now. How many people have not voted I wonder?
Not sure, but I know we have Pax members that are waiting for after the holidays to commit the funds. Beilian is also waiting for the end of his recruitment period to commit his pledge to Aeternum (which is completely understandable)
We are of course allowing applications for Chartered Companies as well as individual members. They follow all the rules dictated in the first post in this thread, but if anyone is interested feel free to PM me.
Pax Gaming is a community that is twelve years strong. If we offer one thing, its longevity and experience. As a division Aeternum is committed to providing an in depth, interactive experience for our membership as well as the game community at large. We do this with our stories, titles, festivals, events, structure, and interactivity. For more information visit www.paxgaming.com
I am in the process of making an updated "State of" post for this thread. In it I will go through what we can offer both as a PfO society and as a community of gamers in detail.

In the mean time we have two game areas that have gathered quite a bit of interest. Trade and bounty hunting are two popular areas of our <Structure>.
Areks and Krow are both big supporters of the Bloodwolf Clan. Would you two care to go through some of your ideas thus far? How has the process of contributing to the story and motivations of this unit affected your personal stories? Have you enjoyed the amount of control you have had in the process of it's development as a member? Do either of you see this CC as a leadership interest as the game nears completion?

![]() |

My ideas, as they go, are this: initially, land will not be able to be lost. Guarding land will not be as important as trade and bounty. The hierarchy of Pax Aeternum labeled our bounty company "The Bloodwolf Clan" which kind of fell right in with my character's history, an orphaned barbarian. Ironically, it was mostly barbarians interested in the Bloodwolf Clan which leads to the back story of how the clan came about.
It has made me take a closer look at the lore surrounding the areas of the River Kingdoms and really learn the world of Golarion; something that I have been a bit of a procrastinator about. Collective lore has helped out a lot in coming up with my own storyline, which if you want large scope RP events, you've got to have common canon.
One of the things that I like about Pax Aeternum is the balance between dictation and dialect in regards to the development of Aeternum as a whole. We as the population of the organization are constantly being pinged for input as opposed to waiting to hear from the throne. We give input, the leadership digests and either approves or rebuttals. In the case of a rebuttal it's either "this is our decision and this is why" or "this is our take on it; what is your interpretation". There is consistent interaction within our community on all levels... and that's a good thing. So yes, my transition to Pax Aeternum has been a very pleasant one and I'm excited to see what our future holds.
And yes, I definitely see the CC as a leadership interest. I believe it will be one of the more utilized CC's that we currently have planned. The leader of this company could very well be tied to PfO lore for years to come. Who wouldn't want that?

![]() |

As with all chartered companies, it's composition will depend on what the game looks like upon release. Something I think we have to look at is the bounty system as a system itself. In the end, someone may kill someone else who is our enemy... would we in turn accept that bounty if offered to us? I don't think we would. We would then lose out on potential profits, where others would flourish. What other organizations we have diplomatic ties with at the time of launch also plays into our tracking and executing the hunt. Can we also track bounties into their lands?
There are a multitude of factors that will make us dress right and cover down before the game is launched. As far as promotion goes, we've got to be well rounded and we've got to be efficient. Efficiency translates directly into publicity in this aspect of the game. With us, PvP is guaranteed and not just a likelihood. We'll have to use our reconnaissance assets to their full potential and travel in numbers in cases where ambushes seem probable. Once we get a feel for other players, things should become routine and we'll develop an SOP of sorts. I know this comes off as sounding "matter-of-factly" but it's not rocket science. There is going to be a feeling out phase, an Ok this works phase, an Oh well we didn't see that coming phase, and a we found our groove phase with all sorts of other phases intermixed. That's the nature of the beast.
I'm positive the road is going to be a bumpy one, but in those turbulent times I'd seek the advice of our Pax brethren across all divisions so I could draw upon decades of experience. We are a community for a reason and a big reason for our existence is our success so I don't really see failure as an option.
