Stella moves quickly through the concrete stairwell to get to the offices. She is aware they are expecting her back and is hoping that her cousin got the hint to stall for time. She looks to find the door leading to the office of the professor and fellow colleagues. The sooner we have more information the better. I hate being left in the dark.
Stella is going to slip past the gentlemen. "Well, I need to use the little ladies room so I will be right back. Please excuse me." She winks at her cousin as she heads off in some vague direction. As soon as she gives them the slip she looks for an office that says info or map of the school or someone that might be able to provide her with the information to find the offices of the recently deceased professor.
"Well, I'll be. That is a very peculiar telegram we have received from Mr. Edward. I hope he is alright. Whatcha think of it cus?" She says as she nibbles away at a bit of toast. She then adds... "I'll betcha he has stumbled across somethin but I hope he plays his cards right. There is somethin mighty strange happenin and I'll bet there are a lot of people involved. We best be getting over to the museum mighty quick considering the story in the paper." She drinks the rest of her coffee and finishes her toast and starts to get up from the table. "I think we best meet Miss Aysha and then start our questions with the head curator Merriweather since they were workin together." She heads towards the door to grab her hat and jacket. She makes sure that her revolver is packed tightly away within her jacket. She pats her gun in thought...don't fail me now old trusty....this is turning out to be a lot more of an adventure then I had ever planned.
"We need a game plan...Hmm...I think we should question the curators and do some research about Sera Alta at the library when the musuem and the library open up tomorrow. Maybe, lady luck will shine on us and we can have more of idea of what the heck is going on before we talk to either Lily or the police. Don't want to go off half cocked." Stella finishes her glass of wine then sips some more of brandy while she idly waits for people to reply.
"Well, I will let you take the lead on things Jerry. I didn't manage to find anything out the ordinary. There were a set of different keys on hooks. Wasn't sure what they all were for but you brits do seem to have a lot of mighty strange keys." Stella takes a long sip of brandy then washes it down with some wine before she moves onto her scotch that she chooses to nurse next. She looks over at Jerry again and adds, "I can't make heads or tails of this whole situation we have found ourselves in..What do you make of it Jerry?"
Once they clear the area of the apartment and take a look around to make sure no one is there Stella will make a comment to Jerry. Spot Check: 1d100 ⇒ 58
"I'll tell you what Jerry, this is sure more of an adventure than I set out for I just hope we are not biting off more than we can chew." She then winks at Jerry, tips her hat to him as she reaches into her pocket and pulls out enough chew that she knows she can bite off without it being more than she can chew.
"Very strange Jerry. That picture looks a tad odd. I think we need to found out who this Lily is that the professor received a letter from. That may just be the best lead we have here. Let's head out. No tellin when them cops are going to show up." Stella puts her gun away and taps her hat down to make sure it won't fall off and calls out to everyone. "Hey folks, Jerry found somethin and I think it is about time we make like the wind and head out before we get any surprise visits from people or cops." Stella starts to head to the front door to leave.

Stella reaches into the book and pulls out the note and shows it to everyone. "Hey guys, I think I found somethin! It looks like a reminder from the British Museum Reading Room, with yesterday's post-mark for a book, the 'Sera Altaria'. And also it says 'Well the late fine is the last of his worries.'
Stella turns in surprise and alarm but slowly lowers her gun, "Well, you just about scared the bejesus out of me lady. You look like a drowned rat. No offense though missy. I have been lookin around and can't seem to find a darn thing. You reckon you can makes sense out of this mess? Maybe I am missin something that you will have a better eye for." Stella lifts her hat and scratches her head in bewilderment unable to determine what exactly she should be looking for.
Yes, please use that spot check Chris. Stella gingerly pulls her derringer out of her boot and slowly walks around investigating. She whispers to Jerry, "I'll look around this room why don't you take that one room to left and check for anyone who might be still paying the late professor an unwelcome visit." She is going to search the desk, bookcases, under furniture, and look for any hidden compartments through the first area. Stella will listen intently to make sure she doesn't hear anyone: 1d100 ⇒ 50

Sanity Check: 1d100 ⇒ 65 Stella looks over at Jerry and says in a quiet voice, "Sure Jerry, but let's get a move on. The police should be here soon and the less questions we have to answer the better. I think time is not our friend at all right now. We need to make it lickity split over to this here professor's house and see what the hell is going on." She quickly stashes the keys in her pocket and gets up slowly. She signals to Jerry to lead the way.
Stella says in a quiet voice trying to steady her nerves, "Yes, Jerry we best be headin out. There is no telling who is behind this and the sooner we are out of here the better." She looks around suspiciously eying the crowd for anyone seeming out of place. "Also, we need to get over to his place mighty quick before whoever did this beats us to finding out what was going on." She slowly lets go of the razor and steadies herself up. Wiping the blood on a handkerchief she pulls from her pocket and starts to make her way through the crowd following Jerry. I knew I wanted an adventure but I sure as hell didn't want this. Poor man.
Before Stella can even get a reply out to Aysha's question she looks out into the crowd towards the Professor, after getting over her initial shock of the situation and calls out, "Is there a doctor in the house?" She then rushes over to the Professor to take the razor out of his hand and reaches over to help steady him in hopes someone can apply medical help.
Finding Aysha Myrni interesting due to the silk slippers and matching garment Stella remarks while putting out her hand to greet her, "Why Miss Myrni you look as purity as a field of bluebonnets blossoming on the first day of spring. A pleasure to meet your acquittance." Taking no time to wait for a response Stella introduces herself. "My name is Stella Mahoney and this here Jerry is my cousin. Apparently we are going to see a lot more of England but so far all I have seen is a train station and several fancy houses."Stella chuckles to herself as she waits for a response by Aysha.
Stella sticks her hand out and she quickly shakes Malcolm's hand. "Pardon me sir but we are suppose to be meetin up with someone and need to go. Hope you have an amazin evening." Stella quickly steps around the man and tips her hat. She starts weaving her way through the crowd while keeping an eye on Jerry to see if he spots Miss Myrni.

Once Professor Vernon steps away from them Stella leans over to where Jerry is standing and whispers, "What do you think he means by this 'life and death' situation? Is that the true reason he has brought us here? What do you think Jerry?" She pauses while waiting for an answer and thinks to herself, Well, life death or whatever I am up for a good old fashion adventure. Hope things kick off soon too bad I had to leave old trusty Betsy at home.
"Don't worry yourself there too much Professor, my bark is a lot worse than my bite."She then chuckles to herself as she takes another sip from her drink. Observing that Vernon was looking at his pocket watch Stella points out "Fine time piece you have there. You itching to get out of her too or are you just prepping for what is coming next?" She shakes her head. "You seem as busy as a stump-tailed cow in fly time so I won't take up anymore of your time if you need to be going."She tips her hat and moves out of his way.
Stella turns and faces both Edward and Prof Vernon. She goes to shake their hand firmly as she says, "It is a pleasure to meet ya both. I sure do appreciate beenin invited to this here shindig."She gently tips her hat. "So, why the occasion? Looks like a bunch of fancy dressed turkeys stuffed and waiting to be eatin for a thanksgiving meal."
Stella looks over at Jerry. "Look, I can follow you just fine without my hand being held like a little lost girl." She says irritatedly as she yanks her hand from his. She then realizes she might have been a little gruff with him and then apologizes. She says in hushed tones "Sorry, Jerry, I just don't like these types. They seem all friendly on the outside but they tend to be very untrustworthy and devious in their actions. I hate them types, just has me a little on edge." She then spits into the bowl to punctuate her point about how she feels. "The sooner we are out of here and on some grand adventure the better. I don't do well being cooped up in a place either." She turns away from Jerry and proceeds to sip from her drink but casts her gaze out in front of her keeping a weary eye on the strangers surrounding her.
Stella steps out of the carriage with a quick hop. Not taking any time to be announced she quickly asks the Doorman where she can find the booze. Once he points to where the bar is she claps the man on the back and tips her hat. She calls out behind her. "There is no time like the present there Jerry." She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a big lump of chewing tobacco and quickly inserts it in her mouth. As she chomps down she finally feels relief from the nicotine fit that was about to take place her head. Man, meetin all these fancy pants people sure has me on edge. Good thing I have my chewing tabac or I would be slamming down the drinks and making a right fool of myself. She is in awe from the statues lining the entry way of the Gala but quickly moves past them to where the bar is. She weaves her way through the crowd to the bar and asks the bartender, "I would like to order a whisky on the rocks please and also do you have a spittoon anywhere abouts?" As she waits for an answer she quickly scans the room to take in the people and the atmosphere.

Stella walks over to the silver tray and grabs some sandwiches and begins to scarf them down quickly. Not taking too long to respond to Jerry she says in-between bites"My poison is Whiskey on the rocks please. Stella sips on her drink. "How long till we set off to this party you were talking about? It would sure be nice to stretch my legs and see more of the city.
As they leave the room and shut the door Stella looks over at the gown and wrinkles her nose at it. If they think they can get me into a "gown" they are in for a big surprise. She walks past the dress picks up her rucksack and starts unpacking. She quickly sorts through her clothes to find a clean red linen shirt and a pair of tan trousers. She goes to the bathroom to freshen up and change. She then pulls out Betsy and gentle sets the rifle underneath her bed in it's case followed by her revolver. She makes sure to pull the covers down over the side of the bed so nothing is revealed. She then puts a small derringer in one boot in a concealed pocket and tucks her knife back in her other. After securing her weaponry Stella tosses her hat back on and throws her boots on. She then heads downstairs to the sitting room to join Jerry.
"Thanks so much Jerry. It has been a long and tiring journey. I am really grateful for all your hospitality." After they clear the staircase and head down the hall a way Stella steps through the door that Jerry opens for her. "Wowwy! This sure is the most beautiful room I ever did see! Golly gee, just look at the view outside that there window!Stella steps past the four posted engraved wooden bed and rushes over to the window. "Man, I can see far into the city from here. Look, there is a big giant clock over there! She points with excitement. "I guess everyone will know what time it is. She giggles to herself. Once done looking through the window she turns to take in her surroundings more. She is taken back by the sure luxury of the room itself. Dark blue carpets and wood paneling on the walls carved with delicate Celtic patterns. She plops herself down on the bed and melts into the plush blue bedding. "Yep, I think I'll be just fine here. Yep, just fine and dandy.
Once in the house Stella looks around with wide eye wonderment. The entrance hall is wide with a checkered floor that flows out into a bigger entrance way that leads up to a grand stair case cast in marble. There are swords and shields decorating the walls. Suits of armor stand to the sides of the staircase. Cream encrusted marble lines the stair case and stairs. Stella truly feels out of her element and looks before her in wide eyed amazement. Wow, I have never seen such a place I must look like a complete greenhorn to these people.Once she clears the entrance way she looks around not knowing where to go next.

"Well, Jerry that sounds wonderful. It would sure be nice to get out in the country and go for a ride." She looks out through her window to see them pulling up to Jerry's estate. She is taken back from the grand scale of the house being that it is so central to London. After getting over the initial awe of the stone set house that is set back from the hustle and bustle of the city she turns to look at Michael as he opens her door. "Oh yeah, sorry Micheal, anything to eat would be great. Perhaps a quick sandwich? I just want to get freshened up as fast as possible so Jerry and I can head out. Can't wait to see more of this splendid place!"
"Not a bad idea Jerry about gettin some riding in. Oh and why thank you kindly Mr. Michael. I would appreciate a bit of a nibble on something." As they continue to drive through the city Stella stares out in wide eyed wonder the whole way. I have never seen such buildings and everything looks so old and built with stone. Back home it is all wood and seems to be just have been thrown up. She continues to take in the sites during the drive to Jerry's estate.
"Why thank you kindly Jerry. I sure do appreciate you carrying my rucksack. Oh, the reason it is so heavy is that I have good old Betsy with me. She has always been by my side and never let me down." She pats the bag affectionately as Jerry carries the rucksack to his car. Once they clear the train station Stella breathes in deeply and enjoys the evening air. "It sure feels good to be outside again." She blinks in surprise to see the butler exit the vehicle to open the door for her. She whistles in admiration of the car in front of her and comments as the butler opens the door,"Wowwy, you have a driver Jerry? You must not be hurtin any at all. Back home we mostly ride horses and never did see a fancy car like this.
