Silver Crusade

I can see your point on that Brock. I hope a simple section is added to explain exactly what is to be on the ITS,Do we need a new one every single game? or do we make adjustments. That sort of thing.

Being that I am starting to GM again soon I of course want to make sure i'm following the rules. Besides It will at the very least let me see items I bought i never end up using, so I don't repeat the mistake on another char.

Silver Crusade

Those are the obvious things I was talking about lol. I doubt my Great and Mighty Pearl of Power lvl 1 on my Cleric 3/Ranger 1 is gonna really stand out lol.

Honestly the Whole ITS thing is just silly to me. Lets just start enforcing the Chronicle sheet buy and sell and be done with it.... oh wait odds are 70% of people wont use the ITS or use it correctly anyway. I have very little filled out on my chronicle sheets due to a relaxed environment.

Mind you when I bought Major stuff like upgrading to a Magic weapon or the like I listed it. I did a fast and dirty audit just by adding up all the gold from my sheets, adding up the cost of all my items at 50 gp or more, it looked fine I moved on.

Ill use the new ITS, and start taking more care on my chronicle sheets since its now been brought up as what appears to be an issue, but honestly, cheaters will cheat. They WILL find a way around it. 90% of whats "caught" will be accounting errors, or slip ups and not intentional issues.

Cheaters just cheat themselves, and to any reasonable GM its pretty obvious without a hard Audit when a level 4 is walking around with 30K gp worth of stuff. Or has a Dozen wants and 50 level 2 scrolls.

I have never been audited and hope never to be, It kinda feels like being called a cheater in a way. I wont have anything to hide but *shrugs* I enjoy the current relaxed environment and honor system. After all I am there to play, not work.

Just My Very Humble Thoughts.

Silver Crusade

I like the IDEA, but Hate the application. I frankly dont have a CLUE about when I bought what expendables or minor objects. I only placed on Chronicle sheets Magic items such as upgrading a sword, or something off a Chronicle sheet. I have never even been asked to look over it.

If people want to cheat they are going to, Nothing we do short of bringing a massive amount of work to catch a few people cheating (and frankly cheating themselves out of fun) will work.

Lets not chop down the apple tree to get to a few bad apples, I know people will start walking once the paperwork starts to pile up. I am there to relax and have fun, not write a book.

I think the Sheets are great for keeping up with what your Char has and for you to personally check for errors, or for the GM to take a fast glance if he wants to know something, but thats about it.

Simply my Humbly stated thoughts.

Silver Crusade

Thank you! I am actually more intrested in VTT over all. Just wanted to make sure it was ok. PbP simply runs to slowly for me I would have to reread everything nonstop.

Silver Crusade

I have a simple question I cant seem to find the answer too.

Is it allowable to play a char in BOTH VTT and RL. Meaning I have my cleric/ranger. May I play him in a VTT, get the Chronicle sheet, and apply it as normal, then actually be allowed to use that in my store?

Or is a BTT or PbP char, just that, unable to be used in other ways. My medical condition often leaves me at home, though i must prefer to play at a table.

However if a Char is a Char is a Char, and all things apply together then playing and once I am good at it, GMing online games would be an amazing way for me to fill in those weeks I cant make it.

All in all, I guess I want to know If online play is separated from in person play for some reason, and do you actually gain xp and a full chronicle sheet that can be printed and added to my char for play at the table.

Silver Crusade

Kinevon Thank you, Thats very good information. I will speak with my VC about that. 15 tables over 3 days could very well be doable. I would also like to note that I no longer need the Boon sheet I was looking for.

My Local VC Offered up one to me after reading posts here. I look forward to gming again soon, and to playing my new Wayang :) However I till love the idea of trying to put together a little mini con. I am part of the DC Metro/NoVa PFS group so It seems very possible, and would allow many people a chance to get some boons.

I even hear rumor of Orleands (sp) being offered at Gencon....

I owe me renewed intrest in PFS to a Really great GM, and a very good VC.

Thanks Joe and Dan :)

Does anyone have a Link to this online Con? That sounds like an amazing idea.

Silver Crusade

I greatly enjoy GMing, and greatly love Cons, Its a matter of the cost of getting from North Va all the way to Gencon or Dragoncon. Add up the cost of travel,a place to stay, cost of admission, food while out, etc. and It gets really high really fast.

Assume in my case about 75 dollars for a hotel room, 250 round trip for Gas (that's being conservative) 50 bucks to get in,20 dollars to eat then minus the money made for missing work and I just spent enough to buy a nice new tablet pc! or an entire Season of PDF Scenarios! (this is excluding the extra costs for my disability I won't get into)

I would say that puts getting that boon via a con pretty far out of my hands even though I would be more than happy to GM tables all day long.

I had an interesting thought. The point of this is all really to bring in new players. Well, How about giving those boons out for... say Signing up x number of new PFS players. You would have to require that they play at least 3 scenarios, or have your VC or VL sign off to prove its a new player that is playing or something like that to prevent abuse,or simply limit the max times of getting a given boon to twice. However I am sure it would be workable.

I know people who would punch a dolphin in the nose for a Grippli boon.

So, you know, there's that.

Yeah but im not looking for something like that. I am looking for a boon that gets passed out by the pound sometimes at certain cons. The longer i dwell on it, the more disappointed I get.

I mean I simply want to play as a race for roleplay value, not to uber play or something. There are TONS of those sheets floating around but as of so far I have not been able to get one, Even though Ive been a hardcore supporter for a very long time.

While someone who happens to have more money than me, and trashes the game in front of others a couple times a week has a few hes just saving up. That just feels wrong to me.

On that note I realized I never actually asked. If anyone has the Wayang Boon that they would be willing to part with I would be very greatful, I do not have much to trade other than being willing to pay the postage, or given time to save the money, or if you would be willing to pay postage, even trade a a copy of Castle Ravenloft a Board game that seems to be popular but I do not play nor have ever. Assuming that is not against any rules.

Silver Crusade

There are tons of ways it could be done. However I question the actual fact that people go to cons to get those boons. My personal thoughts are that cons are a place to get NEW players.

I often get a bit jealous when a brand new player walks in with one of those con boon sheets when I've been buying, and playing and supporting Pathfinder and PFS since day one.

Maybe thats a bit childish, but without those of us that are at the games every week, playing and gming, I dont care how many cons you have, there would not be much of a PFS.

Silver Crusade

Well Said Jack.

I am in full agreement with you in most areas. I do NOT want to see all those races just opened up, I personally enjoy the idea of some races being more rare than others. I just wish they would make a method outside of cons to do so. Even if its a tough one, heck even a Chronicle that can only be run on one day of the year by the VC.

Silver Crusade

I switched from Homebrew, for some reason a PFS Char feels more .... Earned? to me. Kinda like digging up the boon I need feels more earned than just writing it down. I played season 0 GMed, got burnt out and just recently came back. Aside from the lack of real roleplaying sometimes (hence my desire for the boon) I enjoy it. Just gotta get caught back up on everything. Like why my Avatar isn't showing up lol. *edit* Guess that answers the Avatar thing.

Silver Crusade

What, I like my makeup to know what its doing!

Since the official pregens are supposed to be PFS legal builds (barring necessary changes such as Ezren's bonus feat), you can use it as the basis for your character going into the next scenario.

Spell change is ASSUMED that I slept the night before, and am praying before the adventure, I keep my changed spells om a seperate sheet in the case that I cant get the short prayer needed to change them. Though all the gms in my area (other than this one encounter) allow the Change before hand on a pregem for the sake of simplicity they assume We where smart enough to sleep the night before and prepare.

If not we all just generally set off shopping and resting anyway. So its kinda a silly point unless there is a possible reason or danger right for the moment you start play and we assume the cleric is as dumb as the rouge about how to prepare her spells (pun intended on the 10 int rouge, me i happen to like skill points on a rouge)

I don't see the problem with changing name and sex. Its a purely cosmetic thing and entirely for the players comfort. Whoever is playing one is giving up quiet a bit of options by playing a pregen. Of course, nothing is to keep you from playing Kyra and introducing yourself by saying "Call me Joe!"

What's the GM you had have against the idea anyway?

Thats the funny thing it wasnt even the GM, It was a VC from a different area, saying its a flat out rule you may not make those changes.

Silver Crusade

This is all exactly my point. My Jaw dropped when a VC no less, tells me I cant Change the gender and name of a pregen, nor the spells memed as a cleric( umm I dont have time to pray a get a little rest?) I just wanted some feed back from the rest of the community on this to make sure I wasnt the only one that thought it totally absurd to push a rule like that on me.

I made the choice to just not show up. Im here for fun, not to roleplay something in a way I dont like. Besides lets face it, the pregen level 7 Cleric Icon has NON domain cure spells memed. Thats just plain silly.

Silver Crusade

There is no reason at all, that this cant be run in major places on a one time run, with limited space. Like Washington D.C., New York City, and the like.

Silver Crusade

Mike I know that this MUST be WAY down your list. But I feel that an FAQ that lets us know what we may do to pregens should be released. May we change names and sex? May we Changes spells ahead of time (from our spell list of course) so we dont have to say, Im sleeping 8 hours, Im going to go pray at the start of each game?

And if we have time, can we change that blonde cleric pregen into a Fiery redhead when we take up a pregen to make the game more fun for our friends?

Silver Crusade

So far the general thoughts are its pretty much accepted to have those changes, and since there IS a rule from a podcast stating vanity changes that dont slow down the game or change mechanics on pregens are allowed, As well as changing the spells they have memorized before the game.

considering I write my spells out totally using a special work sheet, this makes it EASIER on the GM. This is starting to feel more like I walked into some little click.

Silver Crusade

Oh and I soooo envy you living so close to gencon! Go Silver Crusade!

Silver Crusade

Its the 7th level. I always Go by Londar (I dont think most people know my real name lol) and just prefer playing a male unless im in a silly mood. I would FULLY understand his objects if it was even something as complex as messing with height, and weight and eyes, thats just over kill, its only a pregen after all.

I am more a roleplayer than a fighter, and enjoy strange builds. Sometimes they make for insane power houses (Fighter with a 20 dex,bow feats, weapon Finess and a Rapier, was doing damage like an arcane caster, vs My poor dead Battle Bard lol) So when you take that roleplaying away from me, my fun goes too.

I wont even play certain classes due to the fast I become a table hog (like an inquistor) Guess getting a bit off topic here. So it seems there is no official ruling to it, other than something I saw in the forum stating Vanity only Changes to pregens where fine so long as they did not slow down the game.

As an ORGANIZED play group, I kinda think rules like that need to be universal, as it leaves me feeling pushed out of the group or unwanted because the ruling just makes no sense.

Silver Crusade

This is a simple 4 hour game, With the cleric being used a single time, The problem is the VC Is NOT the gm of the table, or if he is hes breaking a flat rule himself by playing a PC at a legal table. However What GM is going to annoy a VC to uphold what should be simple fun and fair play.

The funny thing is I joined the gain to HELP them as they had not a single healer.

Silver Crusade

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

Being that I hate playing as females and prefer to go by a name I recall, what is the ruling on these changes? If I am playing a pregen, am I allowed to make a Gender change and name change? Being that this is purely vanity and for roleplaying and has zero impact on the game.

I have always been allowed this by gms, however suddenly one says this is not allowed at all. Through all my searching I have seen lots of things saying changing vanity stuff about pregens is fine but, obviously, you may not change weapons, armor, or the like.

Is there a flat rule on this, or Is the VL in my area just pointlessly adding restrictions? Its reaching a point where I am starting to feel pushed out of the PFS by silly pointless things. I understand not changing a Rapier to a greatsword, but really? Vanity stuff?

Silver Crusade

*sigh* it gets a tad frustrating year after year to be unable to attend, then have to wait a year to play. I personally feel that this leaves those of us in PFS who do not have a pocket full of money, and what we do have still does go to paz, get left in the dust.

I feel that these events should be offered in each major metro area by the Venture Capt of that area. Mabye a month or so after GenCon. Even if its a one time thing. I play PFS to get away from my years of RPGA and their absurd restrictions,(and my personal though that 4.0 is a pile of trash)

I understand Gencon is special, but that makes us loyal PFS players no less important just because some of us are able to make it. I assure you I and most of the people I know would be there if we did not have money issues, jobs, or family.

This type of thing just feels wrong. I may not have all the information, as I became unhappy with PFS and quite from season 2 to 4 due to things like this. I suppose it all sums up to, why should I be left out because it takes me 2 months to save for the latest book?
