How does the deck distinguish between weapons of differing critical hit capabilities? ![]()

EDIT: It's unfortunate, though hardly uncommon, whenever a player leaves a PbP game; especially near a climactic moment where it make little sense to have the character suddenly disappear or to have a new one show up. But "botted" characters, IME, never act more than bots; they typically do the simplest actions reacting to the most recent circumstances until they can be logically removed from the game. None of us can do more than guess how Rain would have acted in this combat-especially if she was planning to leave the game afterwards-and so it's safe to assume that she's going to do little more than add to our potential damage total every round. She's not a player anymore and we can't really expect her to act like one. ![]()

I'd like to move around to attack the Queen (Sko can move 9 squares because of the Fleet feat and Fast Movement) but I don't know if I can do that. If I can't do that, I'll use Totemic Transformation as a standard action to give myself Swim movement and underwater breathing. Then, as a free action, I'll Rage and move (action) to V45. Unfortunately, healing Variel is, I think, a losing proposition. The Whale's minimum damage is higher than my maximum heal. ![]() Paizo's forums are surprisingly bare bones. Back in 2000, I went to Eric Noah's 3.0 D&D Webpage, which would later become EnWorld, a lot and even back then you could post in multiple colors and never had to type in the BBCode by yourself. They're fairly standard web features and have been for over a decade; why Paizo doesn't support them is strange and I was suprised by it when I first came here. I had asked on the forums a couple years back why these features weren't provided but never got anyone official to respond. ![]()

![]() It would be nice if the board would let us post in multiple colors. That way, anything that provides buff or debuff (especially if it affects multiple people) could be posted in, say, red. That way no one would miss it. Unfortunately, the boards don't let us do that. In fact, Paizo is the only site I know that makes you type in the BBCode manually. I've been playing since OD&D and, like it or hate it, hit points have always been a heavy abstraction. Especially as you go up in level, losing hit points doesn't necessarily reflect physical damage. It just doesn't make sense that you can hit an unarmored guy 10 times with a mace and he's still up and fighting with no difficulty. An enemy with 1 hp can attack you just as effectively as one with 90 hp. That's why I typically ignore descriptive conditions like, "He's on his last legs," unless there's a specific mechanic attached to it. If I forget a bonus and the game moves on I would prefer to just say, "Oops," and keep going rather than try to retroactively apply it and deal with the cascading changes that need to be applied to every post thereafter. ![]()

![]() We don't really need a master & commander of the group but we do need one for whatever crew we end up with. The crew needs someone to look at as a clear authority figure even if that isn't the person doing the actual piloting (having multiple people able to pilot I think would be a good thing, however). Having some skill overlap is a good thing; especially in this AP which has a more vicious theme to it. PC's being PC's, we can never be certain what might happen to one of us. Personally, I thought of Sko as sort of filling the position that Plugg kind of/sort of filled. Assuming success on our part, if we try to fill out our crew, something this ship needs, that crew is likely to be pirates or at least people with that mindset. However we decide to carry ourselves after this, being a pirate requires a certain degree of ruthlessness; if it didn't we wouldn't be discussing mutiny right now. If we're going to control a ship and keep that control, someone is going to have to be willing to make hard decisions."
