Readying myself, I wait for the dragon to return and once it is in reach, I start sending out arrow upon arrow into its path as it comes on.

Thanks all for the kind words. Hard times indeed

This morning 0435 local time, my wife of 21 years passed away in her sleep at the age of 46. She will be missed very much, but her suffering is at an end.

Wife is in hospice at the moment. Please npc Shaylar as needed.

Hello all,

Just a heads up: wife had an MRI yesterday and the tumor had grown signifcantly despite the chemo therapy. So, chemo has been stopped and neither radiation therapy nor surgery are considered viable options. We are now pursuing leads about treatments in the US, where friends have suggested several options that look promising. Please bot my character when needed to speed up the game

How close do you want to get? Will the owl land or circle?

About 150 feet circling and flying an erratic pattern to make aiming more difficult for the giants.

Still circling around in the air above the giants a satisfied smile creeps onto my face when I see the first giant fall. Looking around for my next target, I see one of the giants already seriously booded. Retrieving the next series of arrows from my quiver, I unleash yet another storm of arrows.

Suppressing a cry of pain "Yikes, that was entirely too close. And it hurts!" I taunt the giant, trying to make it angry enough to miss with his next throw. "That the best you can do? You sure you're one of those feared hill giants? The ones that can so accurately throw rocks? Maybe you're some sort of watered-down bloodline? I mean, my dead mother could throw harder than you just did. Maybe we should raise her and ask her to teach you? What do you think? Or is thinking beyond your meager abilities as well?"

Soaring high through the air on the back of the giant owl, I prepare to engage the hill giants with a furious storm of arrows

Back :-)
And if needed, I can be reached @ werner.verboom[at]gmail.com

ODST anyone? Or Puff the magic Dragon? I'll take an owl to take me close enough to attack the giants with arrows.

Great! Looking forward to continuing

Not waiting for Shaylar I hope. Already posted what I was going to buy.

Sorry for the delay people. Last few weeks been a roller coaster ride with wednesday bein gthe worst day in a long time. Wife's MRI showed two new brain tumor spots, so she's starting new chemo therapy next wednesday. My presence here may be kinda sporadic, depending on the impact this is gonna have on her ability to function normally.

Buying 3 scrolls of Flame Arrow for additional damage with my shots and 3 potions of Heroism for even better chances to hit my targets.

Not really a fussy shopper. But been out for the count for almost two weeks now due to another attack of pneumonia.
Getting better now, so working on it. Should be posting soon about my purchase(s)

??? If for diplomacy, my roll was under the text of my post. If not, color me confused ;-)

Speaking up in support of the case made by the others, I look at Lord Jarmaath as the one to make the final decision: "We have no cavalry, at least not in the number required to put a serious dent in the horde's numbers and we would be wasting a lot of lives if we were to meet the horde outside the city walls. Let them break their teeth on the stones and then we can pick them off from the battlements. We must make them fight on our terms, not the other way around for therein lies certain defeat."

Diplomacy (aid another): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Not very much at ease in human cities, I keep mostly to myself and the close group of friends. When we reach the keep and are finally led before the council, a sneer of disdain curls around the cormers of my mouth and my eyes turn cold when I recognize everything I have come to detest in humans in the persona of Lady Kaal. Much as there may be a kind of animosity between elves and dwarves, at least the dwarf Harek is open and honest and has proven himself to be a friend to be counted on.

When Lord Jarmaath greets us and shakes my hand, I let the sneer fade, to be replaced by a warm smile as I see the honesty and earnestness in the man's eyes. " Almost correct, Lord. But it's Kallanereth, with a short 'e', not a long one. But Shaylar suffices." Stepping back, I let my gaze wonder over the others assembled in the room and give a quick wink at Soranna, even though she didn't seem to be interested in me, back in Drellin's Ferry.

Listen as Ambrose recounts our adventures, nodding in agreement every now and then, but remaining mostly "invisible" and keeping to the company of my friends.

Hit points level 10: 1d10 ⇒ 7

Brooding over our encounter with the Lich, I am glad to see the rest of my friends are also of a mind to once again visit the undead abomination and put an end to his reign. But that will ahve to wait until the threat of the Red Hand has been dealt with.

As we travel eastward, we are once again reminded that the Horde is not the only threat. All of a sudden Aleste is under attack and without even contiously thinking about it, I leap into action, my hands moving in a blur, speed even further augmented as Helakuu's spell takes hold.

Sorry for my late reply. I am on vacation at the moment. Shaylar would like to have the +2 rapier and the deed to Vrath Keep (if there are no legal heirs to that place).

Yes! Lead on

Sorry to hear about the computer problem Nick. I do understand time restraints only too well myself. But if Aleste is willing to take over, I'm happy to continue.

On edge and not trusting the lich for one bit, I pay close attention when he speaks a word of power and a slight smile touches the corners of my mouth. Speaking in a friendly tone, but at the same time letting my friends know as well what spell the lich cast: "I know you are a very powerful spell-caster, but you might want to shield your eyes from the glow of all our magical items."

Fang is growling by my side, rearing up to attack, but from what I've heard about the bonedrinkers, the wolf would probably be an easy victim, no matter how fierce a fighter he is and I quickly tell my companion to stay by my side and guard our rear.

Seeing Ambrose once again in the thick of the fight and Harek fighting for his life in the clutches of the monster, I offer up a quick prayer to my Goddess: "Dear Lady Ehlonna, guide my arrows true. Once more we face undead monstrosities, abominations against nature. Help us slay them." My hands move in a blur as more arrows, crackling with lightning, streak from my bow, towards the bonedrinker that's trying to kill our new dwarven friend.

Fang's fur bristles and a low growl emanates from deep within his chest when the monsters start crawling out of the openings. Seeing both Harek and Ambrose take up defensive positions and blocking the monsters from reaching the rest of us, I tell Fang to stay by my side and watch for other threats, while my hands move in a blur and the first two arrows, crackling with electrical energy, is hurtling towards the closest creature before I've finished talking to my wolf companion.

"Thanks Aleste, I'll be sure to put them to good use."
Taking the belt and arrows, I first place the arrows in my own quiver, then replace my own belt with the magical one.

Turning my head towards Harek, I cock an eyebrow in mock seriousness: "And what's wrong with light and fancy elfy stuff, good sir dwarf? Why bother with all that heavy stuff? Light stuff is the way to go if y'ask me. Why take a beating when you can just dance out of the way?" Seeing Harek's frown, I start laughing, letting some of the tension from the previous battles drain away.

"So, where to now?"

"Off course we don't mind, Ambrose. Unless Harek disagrees, but I doubt that. Go ahead and keep it. The better protected you are, the better we're off as a group." Slapping my leg with a hand, I whistle soft and low: "Fang, come here boy." Getting some dried meat from my pack, I hold it out to the wolf and feed him the morsels of dried venison, a smile on my face as I see my furry friend obviously enjoying the food.

"Wow! That was close, Ambrose. I think that full plate armor you mentioned might indeed be a good idea. However, if we run into more of these lightning-throwing b*%~&es you might wanna reconsider. You'd be a walking lightning magnet."

Listening to the descriptions of what we found in the ways of loot from the slain monsters, I look up when the belt and the arrows are mentioned.

"If you guys don't mind, I would like to take that belt and the arrows. Couldn't hurt if I were able to do some extra damage and being able to do so with even more accuracy would be great. And by all means, Leonar, take that rod.

Raising my sword to my forehead I salute the dwarf as he expedites the fallen enemies to their afterlife, before returning the blade to its scabbard again.

The sound of approaching danger triggers me into readiness, my bow and several arrows appearing in my hands as if by magic.
