Luck all! Should be enjoyable no matter who gets in.


Hm.... Desna is Sed's goddess, so he cares about her.

On a curious about list, I would have it divided into two based on reason.

Curious because might prove to be a threat:
Besmara, Dahak, Ghlaunder, Groetus, Razmir (know he isn't technically a god, but would be interesting to find out how he has weathered the apocalypse/if he somehow used it to cross that divide into real divinity), Zyphus and Lissala (with the return of a runelord, did she return as well?)... and I suppose the Iron Gods from the AP titled the same could fall on this list as well.

Curious because might be an ally/might usurp part of their profile if dead:
Brigh, Milani, Alseta (something tells me she is dead, but you never know), Aspu, and Mitra (again, probably dead).


Finally updated and ready for rebirth! Everything is on the sheet, though still awaiting clarification on animal companion minor details.

If I missed anything, or if any of our panel of GMs has questions about something please do not hesitate to ask!


I appreciate the clarification on the words. Mostly finished (just working out what equipment he will get) but I did have one area of further questions.

I was raising Sedelion's soon to be new friend/animal companion (Starsoul) from non existence to level 5 and had two questions about them in general:

1) How are we doing HP for comapanions (currently she will have 5d8)?
2) For the 4th (and subsequent) level stat boost, it says to raise by +1... given PCs are getting +2 for level 4, will animal companions get a similar extra stat point, or are we sticking to the normal progression plan?

Everything should be on my profile, gold total will drop as I add equipment.


Mostly up to date... just need items, spells, and animal companion. Given he didn't have any of these when he died (well, some confiscated gear, but not keeping any of that crap), and will have them when he is reborn.... probably will treat it as a 'welcome back' present from Desna upon his waking.

Still awaiting the clarification on Godborne stuff, but added stuff in accordance with my running interpretation of application to the page.

Sort of... it was set in Way of the Wicked's country and using its story, but with everything alignment swapped. Asmodeus's backed house won in their fight against the Mitrians instead of the other way. Mitra worship is banned, the country is evil, etc etc. Hence the GM calling it Way of the Righteous... it was a pretty interesting idea, and I was sad that we only just barely got out of Branderscar.

If you want more information, here is a link to the main campaign tab... he posted a good deal of info on what changed and why it changed.

Anyway, that sounds doable. I will keep the communities tab open as a blank slate to start, filling them in as applicable.


So as I am getting this guy up to snuff, as it were, I am refreshing on what he was and where he was going. Urban rangers have some fun abilities (hello lockpicking and trapfinding) but one in particular needs a bit of .... GM moderation on.

For the purposes of this ability, a community is any settlement consisting of 100 or more individuals. The community may be larger than this minimum. Outlying farms, fields, and houses are not considered part of a community. This ability replaces favored terrain.

So this is a fun ability as such, but problematic. In theory any community or town that Sedelion knew in life has been destroyed by the end of the world... given the plot points presented for Way of the Righteous, it is likely that the entire country was lowered straight into the hells, providing Asmodeus a world wound-esq route into the world. Even if that was somehow adverted, it is unlikely that anything survived the ensuing chaos.

All of this begs the question: if I have two communities that I gain bonuses in, where are they and how did I get tied to them? I would love any thoughts that you guys have on that... I will proceed with the leveling on other fronts separately.


So I was very sad when the Way of the Righteous game that this guy was part of died due to the GM losing time to run it (we had just gotten out of the prison). Sedellion was not very keen on being drafted into the army of Mitra, but it didn't look like he had much choice to prevent the creation of a second World Wound. Still, it looks like he might have failed... or fled, then died when what he could have stood against finally came home to roost.

I will obviously need to work on getting this guy leveled appropriately... first things first is deciding how he meets his fate...

The Death of Sedellion:

It was improbable... nay, impossible... that Sedellion made it out of Branderscar Prison alive. Somehow, against all odds, he managed it. Armed with tools granted by the Mitrian resistance movement, he and a small group of fellow branded seized control over the warden's portal and fled with what items they could snatch from guards along the way.

The portal was supposed to lead to someplace outside the watchful eyes of the nation's magicians and inquisitors. Perhaps it even did for his companions. Sedellion certainly prayed as much, finding himself instead on the doorstep of the palace, alone. Perhaps the magic only worked for the true believers in Mitra... perhaps the sorcerors managed to wrest control of the portal at the last moment as he walked through it. It didn't matter, Sedellion was not about to be sent back.

Rapier in one hand, short sword in the other, Sedellion took down three of the guards before the archers above him finally turned him into an impromptu pin cushion. The last thought to cross his mind was a brief prayer to Desna to guide his soul out of the clutches of Asmodeus.

Sorry to hear that. Playing Sedelion in this setting was rather fun and I will miss it, and playing with y'all. This game got my creative process flowing again for Pathfinder after some RL stuff had effectively shut it off, so thank you for running it while you could and thank you for inviting me. Good luck!

Pretty sure that our GM might have forgotten about us. I know he has been posting in other threads (even as recently as yesterday) but we haven't seen anything here in almost 2 weeks. Not going to drop out, but beginning to abandon hope on this pressing forward (unless you have heard otherwise Libris).

After a few moments with a quill and parchment, Sedelion produces a list of goods. A tad pricey, but it should give me an edge against the long odds. The elf sighs to himself, clearly not sure how he got roped into this whole affair. As the attendant arrives, he hands him the list with a smile.

Sedelion nods, thoughtfully.

"I should be able to get you a list shortly. I will understand if some of the items take a bit more time to acquire than others. Do not worry, if they have not arrived before the test commences I should have suitable stand ins from what we have been working with to date, if you can stomach the fact that they still bear the Barcan marks." The elf smiles apologetically. I hope they can get their hands on a decent set of armor for me. And, for that matter, a supplier of cold iron. If not I might be wearing offensive gear for quite some time...

Turning to Ash, Sedelion shakes his head. "I am afraid I have not... though I thought I heard one of the guards mention taking pot shots at one to pass a watch while we were chained. I could be mistaken... and he didn't seem to know if he had hit it or not, if that is any consolation."

So he will be armed to the nines with plenty of cold iron options (perfect for any demons, summoned or otherwise, we run into... also any fey, though that is less likely I suppose) depending on what we face.

While ranged isn't my strong suit (at least by feats to improve it) I figure I will probably still be best at it, so having a variety of arrows isn't a bad idea.

Finally, that armor would effectively be as good as he will need for a long while (and because of material is automatically a MW item).

A brief look of frustration comes over the elf's face, but he suppresses it quickly. "Normally I would say that escaping from an inescapable prison having been provided with naught but a high quality lockpicking set, three daggers, magical portal disruption dust, and some clothes would be enough of an audition trial. To be fair, though, we did have several moments of disagreement, and some team cohesion exercises might be in order. I take it that we will not be required to surrender what spoils we took from the prison unless we want to, correct?"

"I thank you, that should make it a bit easier to sit. Still, we will have to be careful. Once they realize they can't track us they will probably post bounties on our heads at places they think us likely to escape to. Obviously not explicitly saying something as inconceivable as 'Wanted for murder of Branderscar Prison warden & escape from same,' lest they appear weak... but something that will have the lackeys looking to earn a pat on the head, or the local watchmen and guards for that matter, know our faces and be on the lookout for them."

Sedelion's expression grows dark.

"I have not as much faith in the common folk as you seem to, Cardinal... but then, I am not a consecrated religious in my faith or yours, so I guess that is to be expected." Sedelion sighs, seemingly resigning himself to something unpleasant.

"I have a hard time arguing against a second incursion point from the planes into our world. Still, our people would have a better chance fighting such a wound from Andoran than within the hells themselves. Might I suggest having a force in reserves to lead the people to ships somewhere should we fail in stopping this ritual. And yes, that was me agreeing to help stop it... or at least delay it, allowing what few innocents remain time to escape."

A slight smile graces the elf's lips, though it almost looks fatalistic.

"Besides, you might need my aid in securing assistance in the cities... no one can walk them quietly better than I can."

The elf sits listening to Earnan politely. Well, they don't dream small, I will grant that. But then, neither do the Barcans from the sound of it.

"With no disrespect meant I must ask two questions. First, even with rebellions and allies, do you honestly believe that this country can be saved at this point? The seeds of corruption have had a long time to gestate." Sedelion's somber expression speaks volumes. "Most of those willing to do anything about this infestation have left, or been slain. My fellow Swallowtails have gone from having two dozen operating cells of five to twenty members down to... well, three remaining cells of about six members, each. Furthermore, the amount of people who are even willing to take our aid has dramatically dropped as well... there have been times we have broken into a place to free their slaves, only to have the slaves try to aid the guards in defense of their masters, and that is sadly more and more common." Sedelion sighs in frustration.

"Which leads me to my second question. If they are trying to bring this place into the hells, would it not be easier to use our allies and resistance forces to take a port city and then flee the country entirely? I hear there are lovely unsettled areas in Varisia and Andoran that we could resettle. While the thought of our old home sinking into the planes is... unsettling... it is no where near as unsettling as the thought of all the remaining good and unaligned souls sinking into that pit with it."

Sweet. Do you have any objections to my taking the outfit I described from the clothing we ... aquired... from the late warden? I would say that it probably matches a courtier's clothes for value, sans jewelry needed for "proper impressions".

The elf gratefully enjoys his bath. Afterwords, he removes the Gailor's mask and gives it a careful washing as well.

I am sorry we could not save you. Your death will not go unremembered. Setting it aside, he takes the late warden's ear out and holds it to his lips. "Told you, you fool, that we would get out. I hope that you are enjoying the corner of the hells carved out for failures like you." Smiling in satisfaction, he places the ear back into his trunk next to the mask.

Sorting through the tapestry of clothes, Sedelion finally finds a promising outfit. First an embroidered pair of black trousers (made from wool, but lined on the inside with a light silk for comfort) with leaves and scrolls stitched along the seems in forest green silk. Then a matching green shirt with black embroidery in similar patterns at the collar and cuffs (this one seems to be pure silk). A matching black vest was clearly meant to go with the trousers, as they have are of the same fabric type and have the same patterns. A wool black over-cloak was also part of this set, though this was lined with green velvet instead of silk, and the green embroidery is much more detailed. Finally, a black and green pointed hat, with a black feather clasped to it with a silver pin in the shape of a bird. The hat would resemble what we would call a 'Robin Hood' hat. Link to kinda what I mean, the black and green one.

Suitably dressed to his liking, the elf places the rapier on the black belt, along with the non-guard issued steel dagger and the short sword taken from the interrogator. He considers putting on the armor again, but decides not to for the time being. Time to find out why they bothered to free me I suppose... and whether or not I want any part of it.

Sedelion looks at the structure, both impressed and offput. It is impressive to be sure, especially given the purges, but I will never understand Mitrian's need for buildings to pray in. The swamp surrounding this place, with its clean views of the skies, are equally holy to Desna...

Stepping into the grounds, the elf nods politely to the guards as they pass into the structure. Hearing the priest's exchange with Alandriel, he shakes his head. "I seriously doubt, my good man, that I am in your prophecies. Randu here might be... the Hound and Libris as well... but me? Your god would have to have a decent sense of humor to trust the fate of his faith to one outside of it."

Turning to Alandriel, the elf smiles as she shifts forms. "Thank you for the hospitality. If there is a place I could get a bath I would be grateful... as for clothes, I think I have that covered." The elf taps the improvised clothes sack as he says this.

Did you take anything special from the armory? I know that you set the giant axe from the gailor down in there, did you replace it with something? If not what you have should be covered under the 4 sets of standard guards equipment... I didn't feel like breaking that one out given we already did so earlier.

I have had a decent running tally of what I have been taking on my character sheet, sans the recent acquisitions of the clothes, spell ring, and the tapestry. Abbo took the cold iron dagger before he dropped, and we had him grab the three valuable books from the library after that. Pretty sure the only other items not accounted for are the ones you recently grabbed from the Warden's room.

The elf just rolls his eyes and chuckles a little.

Celestial:
"Well, I guess I will follow you a little further, angel. That said, I do want your oath that this brand's tracking power comes off at this meeting, regardless of whether or not I agree to whatever this 'Cardinal' of yours is requesting. And I want it in this language... lest you try to use some loophole in the 'common' tongue that I don't pick up on."

Sedelion holds up a hand in a placating gesture.

Celestial:
"Not that I presume you would try anything so underhanded, but we have just had several long days dealing with the servants of this nation's true master, and I have been taken off guard by things I have thought were innocent before. I have the scar to prove it."
The elf points to where the brand is located as he says this last part.

The elf sighs, clearly not quite comfortable. He reflexively scratches the section of his buttocks branded not so long ago. Cardinals now... great. Still, I'd rather not deal with more spontaneous demon arrival.

"Very well, very well. So long as no binding promise is placed upon me to do more than listen in exchange for removing the tracking mechanisms, I will at least do that much. I suppose I do owe it to you, given you had no need to free me and did anyway." Sedelion smiles to Bron and Randu, shaking the half-orc's offerred hand. "And if you are going to shorten my name, at least call me Delion... as far as nicknames go it is at least more dignified."

Celestial:
"To hear such heated words in such a fair tongue is almost a crime, especially after all the darkness of late. Perhaps it is unwise to presume us... mere mortals... all ignorant of their meaning."

The elf smiles pointedly and switches back to common.

"At any rate, I do not wish to sound ungrateful for the aid, but if it is all the same to you I have a north star to find in the skies and a wandering path toward the wall. I have friends there who should be able to get me to safety across it now that I am no longer able to serve the 'Tails on this side of the border. Furthermore, while I have no distrust for Mitra and I have sympathy for his servants in this dark land, I am not one of them, nor do I intend to become one, brand or no. Desna is my guiding star and I will keep it that way." The elf's smile is polite, but firm. I have no intention on working with this... hound... further, former angelic being or no. He is reckless, and recklessness gets one caught.

Dragging the tapestry full of clothing, Sedelion calls out to Blackerly as he enters the circle, "So long Sergeant! Hope you have a positively great conversation with Azmodeous' inquisitors as to how you let us get free over the late Warden's corpse!" Laughing, Sedelion steps into the circle, hefting the improvised bag over his shoulder as he does.

Sedelion locks the door once Bron gets inside, then immediately begins working with the picks.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 2 = 28

Satisfied that the door will not be opened with anything less than brute force, Sedelion helps Bron push the shelves and benches in front of it to reinforce the door against the inevitable battering.

"Randu, how much longer on that portal?" Now we see if this was all just a joke or not...

Sedelion nods in thanks to Bron. "You better be right behind us after this is done."

Dragging the sack of clothes behind him, he heads to the other room with the others. "Libris, I think you grabbed the key to this. Let us get it open and get through. Once Bron gets past I will lock and jam it. Probably isn't as strong as the one downstairs was, but every moment they are delayed is a moment Randu has to figure out this portal."

Sedelion grabs the clothes in the wardrobe wholesale, throwing them onto the center of the tapestry he had been previously wearing and tying it together as an improvised laundry sack that he drags behind him to the dead warden.

He leans in to the man, whistling in appreciation of Libris' work. "Told you we would be escaping soon. Asking for mercy would have made this a bit more painless for you." He pulls out a dagger and cuts off the man's ear and his ring finger, the glint of the magic drawing him to it. Not like you need either where you are going, old fool.

Quickly taking the ring off the dead man's dismembered finger, he gives it a cursory look before pocketing it along with his ear. The finger tosses back onto the corpse.

Given my time on is somewhat erratic with the newborn, going to prepost my next round under a spoiler. Feel free to apply what is relevant when I come around on the turn order again if I haven't posted some update.

Sedelion's Second Round:

"Bad dog, down dog!" A little anger is evident on the elf's face as he faces off against the fiendish dog. If we had used the porta-hole instead we might have had a clean shot at the Warden, but no, have to break down the door instead and be predictable.

Feeling the strange magic that Ash infused him with take hold, Sedelion readies his rapier again and attempts to skewer one of the dogs with it.

Using the gift to roll twice on the attack roll, attacking one of the dogs after moving into flanking position so that Randu and I are flanking it.

Attack Roll 1: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 2 = 23
Attack Roll 2: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 2 = 23

... wow, that was odd... but probably effective.

Perhaps you might find some mercy from us if you surrender."

Seeing that his words have fallen on deaf ears, Sedelion shrugs and attempts to disarm the man.

Sedelion winces as the Hound rams the door over and over, finally bringing it down. With a frustrated sigh, he walks toward the door.

"Or instead we can be as loud as possible, confirming we are still here and ensuring that the warden knows which way we are coming from. Impulsive, impatient, and borderline brutish, no wonder they caught you. Well, I guess that was faster than simply applying that instant door... now time to see what the warden has called in to aid him."

Not much longer and I will be free of this place and free of this thing. Eyes on the prize until then.

As he braces for the Hound's attack, Sedelion starts and hits himself in the head with his free hand.

"We are doing this the hard way when we don't have to. Randu, grab that instant door thing from the lady. It is time we make our own way in." Sedelion points to a space a few paces away from the door on the wall, but still connected (he hopes) to the same room.

The elf shrugs, puts away his tools, and draws the rapier.

"Be my guest, Hound. I finesse doors open, not break them."

Stepping back and giving a semi-mocking gesture indicating it is all his, Sedelion prepares to follow the creature through whatever hole he creates though the door.

Checks after third one no longer count, door is still locked.

Sedelion curses as the lock's pins slip back into place.

"They didn't skimp on this one... be careful, he is summoning some creature... sounds like the incantations that might bring in a giant spider or small elemental or some such caliber."

Sedelion keeps working, cursing the lock the whole time until the pins finally fall into place. Putting away his kit and redrawing his rapier, he gestures for the others to be ready to rush in once the door is opened.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 To see if I can figure out what kind of spells and maybe which specific ones.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 Combined with the spell craft to see if it is safe to open the door, and to examine the lock.

Sedelion holds up a hand, which is almost comical given his improvised cloak. "I think we can expect this to be a fair-ish fight, given it sounds like he is getting spells cast or ready. Be wary."

Sedelion gestures for Bron or the Hound to be ready to charge in through the door once he opens in, taking out his thieves tools after resheathing the rapier.

Assuming that I determine it isn't going to kill me to try, will attempt to pick the lock. If I see a non-magical trap that I can disable, I will start with that (by which I mean a trap that can be disabled instead of say a curse on the door or some such).

"These things should buy us a bit of time to deal with the Warden and to use the orb to gain control of the portal, but only so much. We need to be quick but cautious, no telling if he has traps or wards in between us and it."

So saying, Sedelion wraps the tapestry around himself like an improvised cloak, redraws his rapier, and cautiously begins going up the stairs, looking for trouble as he does.
