There is a lot of cardboard cutouts that you will need to punch out, which is one benefit. Definetely get for the Edge of the Empire RPG. Alchemy, and feats, and favored class options, heck yeah.

I must say this is good. I like cause it offers variance of the system, as well as reprint most of the parts from the APG. Firt things first, though. Alchemy: There are several alchemical items that make their mark and should give any one who has a character that studies alchemy (not just alchemists) a reason to check it out and pleny of feats and items that everyoen should consider. -Brewmaster is only for dwarves (but could be amended if you explore the roleplay possibilities) but helps improve your zlchemy skill as well as Profession (brewer), giving an avenue to creating magical foods and drinks. -Obsession Log is good for Gnomes, with questionable uses for others (it stands to reason from a roleplaying perspective to be beneficial to others, since it could provide insight to craft/profession checks). -Amazing Tools of Manufacture. All I can is nice. +4 to the Craft Skill the tools are attuned to, but those with 6 ranks in the selected craft skill are able to craft select items in an hour. -Golden Maple Leaves is a way to reduce the Craft DC for alchemical items and substances by 5 and increase the save DC by 1. A 50 GP dose is good for 3 items, which means it can be used to quickly speed up the time to create as well as the number of items. Not Alchemy per se, but Book of Marvelous Recipes shoudl be messaged for those who are seeking a useful and unique way to prepare Heroes' Feast. It also prove +4 comptenece bonus to thos trained in Profession Cook. Feats are good, with some flavorful, some situational, but there are few (if any) that are useless. Most humans with 13 Intelligence and going single class may want to consider Fast Learner, since it allows you to pick two of either +1 skillpoint, +1 hitpoint, or the Alternate Favored Class option. Needless to say, a very powerful option. Favored Class Options: For the core, you get access to all of the base classes, with some giving bonus spells (at 1 less than highest you're able to currently cast, but hey, free spells). Featured races get seven or so classes to apply options to, while the uncommon get only four so. Neat, but some are hit or miss. In the end, your mileage may vary, but this is worth getting PDF form and hardcopy.

I have just gotten into my box set that I recieved (in no specific order). Individual Review will be added later. Box 1: Frost Giant

84 Minis, out a minimum 76, and was able to get the full collection. I can safely say that I am over all pleased, though I was hoping for more humanoid opponents, but can't be to grumpy since I did get a full collection, with a few doubles of key members. Add to this the ones Irecieved from random Store Boughts as well as a minion order from this site and the six-man Evil Booster and you have a good assortment of minis to choose from. This is a mini that having multiples of will be good. First is price, which coming at $3.00 means it's cheap. Second is pose as well as customizable, in which a simple paint job means that the Orc Warrior is now the Orc Warlord. Last is parts. I can easily see this model being broken up to provide other minis with a cloak, falchion, and a better head. First off, great detail, as well as good work with making an Iconic. Seelah is definetely good to have on the board ad can easily be repainted to another version various female paladin/cavaliers/sword and board melee classes. I do have to say, though, I'm not real thrilled by the pose, since it gives the distinction that she was about to be or has been hit by something big, bad, and unpleasent. Race wise, I can not see much besides human/human based forms. But that could just be me. Overall, a good piece to any one's collection, especially if you have lots of players rolling up female melee types, in which case getting one or two and repainting one could be useful. Overall, I will not be getting very many copies of various models, I can see the Wolf Mini being one I can get extras of and not feel guilty, mostly due to the fact is extremely dynamic. As pointed out before, it can easily represent a Werewolf's animal form, while paired wih the ranger/druid/barbarian mini it can represent the animal companion (especially the Barbarian with him pointing, you can imagine he is commanding his AC to attack). A simple paint job can also make this into a greywolf, undead/demon hound, or something else altogether. As pointed out, it a very dynamic pose that easily be modified, both paint wise and with some resculpting/remodeling (instead of an axe, replace it with a sword, add a cloak, etc.). Race/class wise, this model can pass off as both a Half Orc and an Arnold-type human, while any class requiring big muscles and a dramatic pose can be filled in with this model. For me, I'm thinking about replacing the great axe with a falchion, get some modeling putty and bulk him out to make it look like he's armored, add/create a cloak, and he'll be an instant rendiion of a character I play. While it says "Human Ranger", the figure is vague enough race-wise to also be a muscular, bearded Half Elf or a more human looking Half Orc, while class wise it can change as well. In fact, with a bit of paint, this character can be an extremely customizable piece. The pose is also dramatic. |
