This is kind of where I was at with my current build, but I am thinking about doing a rebuild before 2 if I can tweak it out more:

Level 1: Half-Orc Barbarian (Not sure about Invuln Rager Archetype or not)
Alternate Racial: Toothy
Ability Points: 19(21),12,16(18),9,10,7 = (Rage)
HP: 19
Saves: 5,1,0
Traits: (I haven't decided these officially yet....suggestions?)
Feats: Toughness

Attacks:

Primary: +5 / 2d6+6 (Greatsword)

Secondary: +0 1d4+2 (Bite)

I was thinking about taking Barb 2 for Rage Power: Fiend Totem

Gain a gore attack for +0 1d8+2

Taking 1 level of Ranger for the ability to slap a Lead Weapons Wand on a spring loaded wrist sheath + Gain favored enemy damage and hit bonuses.

Then taking 2 levels of Unbreakable Fighter for the Free Feats, and a nice setup into Living Monolith.

Which at level 6 would have me able to Enlarge as a swift action, swing a weapon that swings for 4d6 base, plus have 2 secondary attacks.

I wouldn't have much of an AC, but I would have reach + some mega damage...and at that point I could easily enchant the weapon with vicious plus I would have power attack.

No problem...I was just curious because it looked like a lot of fun :(

The Pain Taster prestige class might also be interesting. It gets damage reduction every other level, so it might mess well with an invulnerable barbarian, and you get various unique bonuses to damage. If you got lethal damage in the last round (even if you were the one to do it) then you get a +1 to attack and damage rolls. You also get sneak attack dice that only applies to slashing weapons and whips. Oddly...the whips always get that extra damage, even if you would not get sneak attack....

There is also a class feature where you spend an hour a day on a training routine that gives you a +2 to any stat. There is a 2,000 gp fee the first time you raise that stat, and again if you decide to switch which stat to boost, but after that it is completely free. You get another +2 to throw around with the level 5 capstone.

Over all, this class is... dark and twisted. But its advantages might be considered worth it for the type of build you want. The only requirements (besides being nongood) are a set of feats you might want anyway: Diehard, endurance, and greater fortitude.

Is this a society legal prestige class?

Is this character Sabu?

Not sure what you mean.

So, I'm trying to build a character concept that is essentially a suicidal damage dealing type of character. It will basically not care about its own life so long as it's putting out maximum damage/and taking the enemy along with it...

I'm thinking this is probably done best with a Barbarian?

It would need to be a 20 Pt, Society Legal Build.

I'm also thinking the vicious enchantment on my weapon is an absolute must.

Anyone know a similar build already in writing?

You could just allow people to earn the money as is, but charge them a luxury tax on items purchased if their total wealth is above a certain threshold.

The option / incentive to play up is still there, but you now need to pay attention to what you're buying a little more.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I am grunching HARD here, since my last reply was on page 1, but I still can't fathom why this is an issue.

I'm the player you are all talking about.

I have a pretty damn wealthy oracle of life (aasimar), and Fame caps have been "close" for me. IE: I had to complete two more mods to purchase a phylactery of positive channeling when I already had the money for it...

Anyways, I don't bully players. If people do not want to play up, I will simply bow out, or bring in a pre-gen/another character...Unless I don't mind playing my tier, which I do on occasion.

I really enjoy playing up, the challenge, and seeing if my optimization can withstand higher tiers. I also enjoy being able to play with the rewards I earn for completing such challenges.

I've died once already, and lost a substantial amount of PA/Gold reviving. I've come close to death about 4-5 times.

Removing the incentive to play up is just foolish IMO.

Punish the bullies not the thrill seekers.

How does receiving extra gold not cover all of those things? :S

What is the basis for this change?

What is the sample size being used for it?

I feel like it is being based off the folks you see at major events/CONs, etc. of which I feel would be more likely to participate in constantly playing up.

I feel like if someone takes the risk of playing up from their first mod until their last should be rewarded with fancier stuff...

Just an opinion I guess.

I would have to see the tiered boons and such, but I'm against this change as it stands right now.

Punishing everyone across the board for a % of people who "pressure" others to play up/down for the sake of more gold is not the way to go about it IMO.

Well now I'm real sad.

Thanks guys.

What do you mean something to change it?

If I take Bonded mount at 1 (which I'm realizing I should do) and I pump 5 levels of my favored class bonus into it, I will be eligible to ride a Large Cat by level 5, no?

Maybe I'm not understanding the way it's written, I assumed you were forced to choose Camel or Horse due to those being the only Large options for Medium characters.

I guess I thought because it states: "This mount functions as a druid’s animal companion, using your oracle level as your effective druid level. Bonded mounts have an Intelligence score of at least 6" You could choose a "large" mount once you've reached the appropriate druid level for it to be considered a "mount"...

If that makes any sense.

I was probably going haunted.

Are Large Cats not allowed?

I'm really having problems finding information on this I guess, which is why I came here.

Hello all, long-time lurker here, with a character concept that is nearing completion.

I'm seeking any advice on how to tweak this out following the concept I've designed. Also, if I've used anything that's not legal for society play please point that out, and I would be much appreciative!

Character: Tabby

Tabby is going to be an Aasimar Oracle of Nature (20 point/society buy) that will be maximizing attacks per round with a big mean buddy (Mittens, the large cat).

Level 1:
Race: Aasimar (Muse Touched)
Ability Points: 16/11(13)/14/10/9/14(16)
Feat: Point Blank Shot
Traits: Dangerously Curious, Heirloom Weapon (Longbow Proficiency)
Taking Nature's Whispers Revelation to add the +3 AC bonus from CHA, using an Agile Breastplate for 6 more AC, and a buckler for 20 starting AC.

Composite +3 Longbow for main attack, following the Rapid shot path (PB Shot, Precise, Rapid)

At 3 I plan to take the animal companion revelation (camel).

The trick here is that the character should begin to snowball at level 5 when I can take a Large Cat as my animal companion.

The large cat (effectively level 7) will have 3 natural attacks and 5 with a pounce. I will also be able to Rapid shot at that point adding an additional 2 attacks to my arsenal from range. I will also be able to apply some fairly nice buffs to the Cat for more owning.

I took the UMD trait so I could use a wand of reduce on my pet, avoiding things like squeezing through dungeons, and what not, and overall just being more playable.

I REALLY wish pheromone arrows were legal, as it would be an interesting compliment to my concept.

Any thing I've left out or gotten wrong?

We need points and plan; are you just wanting to hit things as hard ad possible and rule the low levels?

Here is a PFS build (20 points) optimized:

Half-Orc
Str: 19
Int: 7
Wis: 10
Dex: 14
Con: 16
Chr: 7

Feat: Power Attack
Alt class feature: Toothy
Wielding: Great Sword (max early damage, the falchion is better after improved crit, but in PFS that is only 1/3rd of your levels)

Attack:
+4 2d6+9
-1 d4+4

Raging:
+6 2d6+12
+1 d4+5

_____________

Can I stack Fiend Totem for the Gore Attack? or is it not possible to stack two secondary attacks?

Thanks!

I must be slow. I'm still confused.

" The massive weapon class feature allows her to use oversized weapons with decreased penalty, but does not allow her to use two-handed weapons of that size in one hand."

I'm failing to see how this statement doesn't allow me to use a large sized GS with TWO hands...?

I'm looking forward to the updated guide!

I'm also interested in seeing a breakdown at levels 12 and 20 if possible...

Would be good to know just how much damage this kind of char can put out.

So, by nature, I'm a powergamer (min/maxer) whatever.

That may turn some of you away from this thread, but I'm still searching for advice on the matter at hand: Which way should I go?

My character is currently an Aasimar, Oracle of Life level 3.

Naturally, I'm going with "Channeling" as my main focus here, as I'm able to channel at 1.5x my effective level. Which is awesome.

However, I've recently been able to play in a couple of Tier 6-7 games and I've accumulated a LOT of gold...given that I haven't spent much since I started.

My overall level 12 Build for PFS is this: 10 Levels of Oracle, 2 levels of Paladin.

I figure the difference between channeling at level 15 versus 18 isn't that big of a deal when you could be adding CHA to Save, Gain Smite, Detect Evil and Martial/Heavy Proficiency...and it plays well with the fact that my character is an embodiment of "Good" and "Healing" and seems a natural course...

However, I'm not particularly built for front lines...although I COULD do it given one of these options:

So here's my choices:

Do I dip into Paladin at level 4: Buying myself Full Mirthal Plate and Gain the ability to smite + detect Evil?

or do I stick straight Oracle until 5?

The reason I'm using level 5 as a benchmark is due to "quick channel" which will essentially allow me to double Channel.

Now...if I dip into Paladin I can foresee myself channeling at 6d6 if I double channel while gaining a LOT of AC, and the other perks of paladin.

If I don't dip...I can essentially invest money into a Phylactery of Posi Channel and double channel at 12d6.

Now, 12d6 Channels at level 5 is pretty boss IMO.

Anyone have any opinions on the matter at hand?

Indeed.

I believe Aasamir also grant the +1/2 bonus to level to determine Channel Positive effects, which when combined with Life Oracle seems to me is extremely good. (Add in Quick Channel and you're really doing some neat things).

I'm really looking for the Negative Channel variant of this...

Maybe "bomber" wasn't the right term, but I would just like to be able to have an effective negative channeler.

I've seen some Life Oracle builds that essentially allow them to channel at 1.5x their level for Channel Positive.

I was wondering if such a thing exists for Channel Negative? Or perhaps something that is as effective when itemized correctly?

Heya!

I was wondering if anyone knew a reference to a guide that detailed a highly effective negative channeling build?

Thanks in advance.

I'm also available to play!

Apologies if I'm beating a dead horse or necroing a thread that annoys people...but I'm confused as hell on the basic fundamentals of a synth summoner's ability scores. I understand just about everything else...so here is my issue:

I'm basically considering starting a level 1 synth/summoner. Human.

If I dump my physical stats:

IE:

Str - 7
dex - 7
Con - 8
Wis - 16
Int - 16
Cha - 16

This should be a 20 point setup.

I choose biped, which when fused, looks like this (With human bonus going to str.)

str - 7 (16) (18 - total)
dex - 7 (12)
con - 8 (13)
wis - 16
Int - 16
Cha - 16

Now, if that is correct, what are my actual saves/penalties from my ability scores when fused?

Do I take a -4 to my final Str/Dex and a -2 to my final con?

I'm planning on using a melee weapon, so I'm curious because I don't want to have a 0 bonus score, etc.

Thanks in advance.

So, I'm kinda toying with the idea of maximizing my ability scores, and I ran across the synthesis summoner idea...

Could I essentially play something like a Magus/Summoner and dump my Str/Dex/Con and max my Wis/int/Cha and gain my Eidolon's Str/Dex/Con scores with a level 1 synth summoner multi class, maximizing all my ability scores and allowing me to use Martial + Light armor with magus levels?
