Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia Corvus:

Hi Ray, I'm neutral on including Sanchia's NPCs going forward. Whatever you decide will be fine with me. I'll give you a snapshot of how I see them, and if you think of something interesting to do with them feel free to use them.

Sanchia's aunt and uncle aren't bad people. They do want what's best for her. But, they are also used to deciding what they think to be best and sticking to it, regardless of evidence to the contrary. Sanchia is clearly not like her actor parents, but surely she can be, and would want to be, with the proper prodding and opportunities.

Sanchia isn't a forceful personality; she tries to avoid conflict. Her strategy is to try to find reasons to avoid discussions about her future and when she can't, use minimal compliance to fail out of the chances to act presented to her. She figures she'll eventually be able to wriggle out of her current situation enough to go her own way.

I don't know what's up with Baroness Delour Aulamaxa and Calseinica aside from what's present in gameplay. Dragoncat and I never discussed them. If they're trying to get her into something involving theater, Sanchia would probably flub everything until they give up in frustration. Despite the situation though, Sanchia is starting to take a liking to Calseinica since she also seems like someone who gets steamrolled by others.

I haven't given the mirror much thought beyond a vibe I want for it, which is vaguely ominous. It seems to fit a mirror better than a pet familiar. Sanchia doesn't feel that way about it though. The mirror coos over her, encouraging and flattering her as it teaches her things. Sanchia sometimes gets the feeling that the mirror is withholding information from her, but otherwise she considers it a good, maybe her best friend. She suspects the mirror is either inhabited by her mother's spirit, or channels her mother's spirit. Mostly this is because it was her mother's possession and it's a comforting notion.

Beyond that I don't have any ideas for what the true nature of Sanchia's patron might be, or what it's designs are. Feel free to run with whatever you like if you want to explore that angle. It could also just remain a mystery.

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

I'd be in! Thanks for taking a look DM Ray!

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

It's all a bit much for Sanchia to take in, she reciprocally clutches on to Calseinica. She knows quite well where they are, but doesn't want to make any noise while talking. Besides, there's no comfort in anything she could tell anyone about the place except the convenience of matching geographies between their own plane and the shadow plane, and that's already known.

K Planes: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia is too frightened and her thoughts too scattered to do anything but keep going headlong into the darkness.

K Planes: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 Amazing.

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia goes!

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia fells pressured to offer "Sanchia" up to the group, but adds nothing more since there seems to be raid or something or the sort underway, and the room's other occupants carry a strong whiff of criminality, regardless of what her mirror might be whispering.

She hangs on to the script with a deathgrip since it is her alibi.

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia lowers her mirror and stifles a squeak when she hears the bang.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Sanchia blinks rapidly a few times. Her mouth opens and closes a couple of times, as if she would say something to Calseinica if only she could get her voice to work.

If the particulars of the place and the people around her were different, Sanchia would think Calseinica was finessing her way toward offering her work as a courtesan, a typical fallback occupation for failed actresses. But, when the woman Janiven takes over speaking for Calseinica, she knows it must be something else.

Donations for some charity or cause? Probably, but the jokes on them because I don't have any money myself. Or maybe some sort of neighborhood watch? Why would they conceivably want me for that? I'd only end up needing to be saved from anything I happened upon wandering around in the streets.

Unable to think of any useful skills she could bring to the table, and unable to craft a response that will let her squeak out of the place and back home, Sanchia is resigned to reflex. She fumbles in her bag to find her mirror. She grips its comforting handle and draws it out to look into it. It is both a way for Sanchia to soothe herself and buy time before having to reply.

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia would try to press on and get the semi-audition she seems to be caught up in over somehow. But, there are some dots that are starting to connect up which are hard to ignore given the turn of conversation in the room, and Calseinica's almost certain prior acquaintance with the woman named Janiven.

She side-eyes Calseinica and asks "why are we really here, specifically in this room at this time?"

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia finds all the conversation swirling around distracting, and possibly disturbing. At the very least she hasn't the slightest idea what people are talking about.

She turns her attention back to Calseinica in hopes they can finish up whatever it is that this lunch is supposed to be about, so she can get on with the more pleasant parts of her day.

She points to the script.

"So, where were we with this?"

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia follows Calseinica into the private room. She takes a moment to look around and see who's there and what's happening.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia hangs on to the book for dear life while she looks at Calseinica, waiting for a sign from her to show whether they are about to get dragged into some rowdy backroom party.

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia opens the book and begins to scan its contents. She hopes that is all she is supposed to do. The idea of Calseinica suggesting a dramtic reading or some kind of audition in the crowded place ties her stomach in knots.

When a woman calls Calseinica out, possibly someone she knows, Sanchia doubles down on the reading, keeping her face studious buried in it. It feels to her like the place is getting more crowded, or perhaps instead the neighboring tables are starting to press in around her space more and more.

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Slightly perplexed by Calseinica offering her hand, Sanchia takes it and nods her agreement.

"Hopefully we will be able to find a table quiet enough to hear each other?"

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia agrees and shows up at Visio's Tavern at the agreed upon time.

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia smiles wanly at the invitation to lunch, and accepts.

"Of course, lunch out would be nice. I assume it will be the two of us? The Visbarontess will have more pressing matters I suppose?"

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia shrinks back to give the Visbarontess plenty of room to pass as she leaves. Since it's never a good idea to assume much when one is in the position she is now, Sanchia discounts Calseinica's smile as being indicative of friendship or any actual desire to bond. Even if that were true, there is still every reason to believe Calseinica would spill anything and everything Sanchia said while they are alone if the Visbarontess ordered her to.

Sanchia mumbles something rote about it being kind of the Visbarontess to take time out of her busy schedule for the introduction.

Then she looks down at the book she's holding before turning her eyes back to Calseinica again.

"What is this book for?"

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia finds herself in a bind. She doesn't consider herself a particularly talented liar, but only one answer will be acceptable to the people in the room. She does her best to tread the needle. Maybe an indirect answer can do it.

"I have training as an actor, private tutors. I've also auditioned for some parts..."

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia's heart is beating fast by the time she enters the room, just short of thudding in her chest. She abhors these situations where the entire point is to be judged for unknown qualities by unknown people.

She plays the odds because there is no other basis for a choice. It will be mild pleasantness and a veiled defensive strategy, no questions for them unless prompted to ask, and only the most anodyne answers will be given. She smiles at both the Visbaronetess and her understudy, then executes a precise curtsy before them.

"It is my great pleasure to make you acquaintance Visbaronetess Aulamaxa. I am pleased to meet you as well Miss Calseinica."

Diplomacy(?): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Very sorry about being so late to the game. End / beginning of the month transitions tend to be extremely hectic at work. Also last weekend was the most perfect weather we'll probably see all summer here, so I skipped town for the beach.

Gameplay post is in.

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia starts at the loud rapping on her door and her aunt's voice. She immediately shakes off her toper and scrambles to finish dressing. As she does so she calls back after a half-minute at most, the small delay buying her just a little more time.

"Just two moments Aunt Petronia! I'm fixing my hair, the moisture in the air is making it difficult to tame!"

Last of all, she quickly buns her hair and fixes it in place with a couple of matching hairpins. One last breathless look in the mirror, then she opens the door.

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia could very well know about and visit Nita's shop occasionally. And yes, Sanchia might know Everett in some way through a connection between their families. A coffee shop would be a place she'd most likely spend some time.

I doubt she would be very central to any social connections. She's not misanthropic or a hermit, but she does spend a lot of her time up in her own head, and her pursuits lend themselves to solitary work in libraries, bookstores and such.

She enough money to not have to bother with an occupation at this time. But the family wealth is more in the aunt and uncle's line than her own.

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Alrighty. Thanks GM CWDD. I also sometimes split out quantities of an item and designate some portion as "at home". For example, Sanchia has 10 candles, but who walks around day-to-day carrying 10 candles? More likely she'll have maybe 2 carried, and the rest at home.

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

A question involving gear. I generally don't bother buying a full load of stuff to cover any situation in urban campaigns because I figure if the need for a bedroll, for example, arises, I'll just go buy one when the time comes.

Is this a sensible way for me to think about purchases in this campaign as well?

I don't have any topics to include for myself, but I support the ones forwarded by other players.

Heya Cassynder, it's been a while. I'm Kaska from Brianiac's Iron Gods.

How ya been?

Spiky goat horns never go out of style.

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Yay! Thanks for choosing me Cat GM person!

My normie witch is ready to fight for predictable streets in a nice, anodyne Westcrown.

Lots of great applications. Good luck everyone!

I'm still adding the BAP sections to the profile, and need to finalize gear, but here's Sanchia, a Mirror & Medium archetype Witch.

Female Human Witch (Mirror / Medium)

Sanchia here is the Cleric character. I took the Varisian Pilgrim archetype so she can grant her domain powers to allies within 30'. She can spread luck around as a buff. If I read the ability correctly she should also be able to grant agile feet from the Travel domain if needed.

I took the Human trait Military Tradition to give her proficiency with the Falcata and Longbow. It's probably not the wise choice, but I did it anyway for background and story purposes.

I'm still on the fence about her main ability scores. Right now they are STR 16 and WIS 14, but I might switch those around to STR 14 and WIS 16. It would knock her attack bonus down by one, but give her an extra daily use of her domain powers, which might be better.
