Writing my own campaign that takes place in the Saga lands and the Crown of the World. Wanted to introduce some new archetypes and lore from the region.

The link below is the pdf of the rough draft kf the archetype. Its inspired by the 1e style teamwork feat chain Linnorm Hunter Style, Retreat and Coordination. Feedback would be swell.

So since Anastasia becoming Queen of Irrisen is considered the canon ending of RoW. Since we know she is different than the rest and has made life better for the common folk of Irrisen and the winter witches regard her as the "Fraud Queen."

My question is do we have an idea how the relationship between irrisen and the linnorm kingdoms will be affected?

So built a character that used AoO's to their advantage. Basically enemy attacks me using the broken wing gambit bonuses provoking an AoO from either me or my animal companion depending who they attacked.

Basically question is can you get an AoO with Paired Opportunist from your ally's paired opportunists AoO?

I made a flowchart of how I am thinking it works. would like a ruling.

Hey. First stab at making my own archetype...I really wanted a full Bab Hunter w/out spells. I really wanted to focus on the PC and AC relationship. The inspiration was my brother in law who retired from the special forces and kept his service dog. He was on of those badasses that jumped out of airplanes with a dog attached to him...

Anyways I know historically some cultures have used dogs and animals in combat or hunting...so that was my partial inspiration....below is a link, and you can leave a comment on that google doc.

I really want to make it a balanced archetype that maybe a GM will one day let me play to test it out.

I was wondering if we there is an official paizo ruling to say whether they stacked or didnt. I know the RAW says it doesnt... both bonuses take it from a +2 to a +4.

While I have seen guides and a lot of house rulings say they do.

One reason I have heard as of why they stacked is because when they were written it could have been with the assumption that you didnt have a bonus to the flanking bonus already, and the feat or feature didnt take the other in consideration or was even remembered about.

Just thought it would be nice to get an official ruling and make my build and day complete.

I'm building a character and this was one of the setups I was looking at, but I would like some clarification on the Martial Flexibility aspect.

Do I stack the class feature? If so, what wording do I default to Brawler or Fighter? Separate Pools?

I know stupid question, but I always double/triple check my results or answers.

I planned on dipping 2 levels into hunters and then straight ranger, and noticed they don't stack or work in tandem.

The way I was seeing and interpreting it is as though I would have 2 animal focuses going on me from 2 sources and 1 on my companion from Hunter then at 7th level ranger another for my companion.

Am I wrong? How would you deal with it?

Hunters Animal Focus (sorry phone was struggling to highlight it, so here is a link)

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/hybrid-classes/Hunter/#TOC-Animal-Focus-Su-

Wild Hunter Rangers Animal Focus

Animal Focus (Su)
At 1st level, as a swift action a wild hunter can take on the aspect of an animal, gaining a bonus or special ability based on the type of animal emulated. This functions as the hunter’s animal focus class feature, though this only applies to the wild hunter and not an animal companion (see shared focus, below). The wild hunter can use this ability for 1 minute per day per ranger level. This duration does not need to be consecutive, but it must be spent in 1-minute increments. He can only emulate one animal at a time.

This ability replaces all instances of the favored enemy class ability.

Shared Focus (Su)
At 7th level, a wild hunter can share his current animal focus with one creature appropriate to his hunter’s bond. If the wild hunter’s bond is with an animal companion, the companion automatically gains the benefits of the wild hunter’s current animal focus. If the wild hunter’s bond is with his companions, as a swift action he can select one bonded ally to gain the benefits of the hunter’s current animal focus; this lasts until the hunter’s bond ends, the animal focus ends for the wild hunter, or the wild hunter selects a different companion.

This ability replaces woodland stride and swift tracker.

The idea is a Raging Ranger that works in tandem with his animal companion protecting his domain/nature/home.

What the Ranger would lose:
light and medium armor proficiency
favored enemy and favored terrain
endurance bonus feat
quarry and improved quarry
Camouflage
Hide in plain sight
Master Hunter
spellcasting

What would be altered:
hunter's bond -> level 1
Evasion -> only when he is wearing no armor

What would be gained:
Rage -> rage ability as the barbarian class feature, but its barbarian level is considered to be his ranger level –3.
rage powers

Things im thinking over:
favored enemy or a favored terrain
only using rage powers in your favored terrain
or only being able to rage while in combat with your favored enemy

this is an idea i just recently pondered...i would like some input good or bad give it to me

So I have a player that is looking at this abilit/class feature to allow him to monkey grip in essence. The rules are stated at the bottom.

At level 1 he takes Titan fighter which states that he can use a two handed large weapon with two hands. So a large bastard sword would be wielded with two hands because no exotic weapon proficiency.

So he decides to go ranger for levels one and 2 and picks two weapon fighting style. And uses his level 3 feat to grab exotic weapon proficiency (bastard sword) which would allow him to wield it with one hand instead of two.

I understand his logic. Because the class feature allows him to wield with two hands, and the feat is now augmenting how he wields the swords.

Question is: Is he wrong?

Rules:

Wielding a one handed weapon on size category bigger than the character takes two hands and -2 penalty. So human wielding a large longs word takes two hands instead of one.

Giant Weapon Wielder (Ex)

At 1st level, a titan fighter can wield two-handed melee weapons intended for creatures one size category larger than himself, treating them as two-handed weapons. He takes an additional –2 penalty on attack rolls when using an over-sized two-handed weapon.

This ability replaces the fighter's 1st level bonus feat.

We have your standard samurai, and your sword saint samurai. Have we ever thought about an archetype based off Miyamoto Musashi? You know specializing in dual wielding katana and wakizashi? The perfect offense and the perfect defense as they would say?

I am a big action figure collector, I have been collecting for a long while now, and I have been thinking it would be very cool to see roughly 12" versions of the iconic characters. I mean highly detailed action figures that are just beautiful to look at. Thought I would post it here and see if anyone else would be interested in that idea.

12" highly detailed collectable figures of the Iconics?

I was thinking it would be kind of nice if us players or users of a messageboards had a chat room. So we would have a place for rapid responses, maybe a place to hang out and discuss ideas with a faster pace than the message boards...Just an idea.

PS a chat room for every section of a message board. IE General discussion, advice, so on and so forth.

I need help building this, I think multiclassing is the way to go, but would like to ask my fellow pathfinders helps.

Concept: An orphaned Ulfen child roaming the streets of Karlsgard, and was adopted by a group of monks in the jade quarter. they taught him the style of the dragon, but as he grew older and honed the style it slowly adapted and change in the a dragon style that reflected a linnorm's movements. During his time of mastery his personal dragon style he showed the abilities to use elemental based attacks.

The goal is trying to make a martial arts master that can shoot some fireballs, lightning bolts or a sweeping kicks that shoot a firearc.

It might sound dumb, but I have been watching to much avatar and reading too many pathfinder books >.<

Concept

Gnome that rides around on a riding-dog sized hummingbird.
He uses a lance and/or rapier. I just don't know exactly how to go about it.

Can I get help building from my fellow pathfinders?

If a mount is large is it 2 by 2 squares or 1 by 2 squares?

At level 10 a ranger's companion grows in size. If I had a wolf at medium size then it goes to large at level 7 would it be ride-able?

Hello,

I was wondering if there are ways to reduce the movement speed penalty in medium or heavy armor.

I do know that you can get the armor made of mithral, and that helps, and there is the fighter armor training if i recall correctly. My question is if there is anything else that I am not seeing or thinking of? Magic? Would I just need to make magical armor? and if that is the case what spells would I need to prepare for that armor.

So I know that they are several pathfinder lodges that are located through out the inner sea region. But are there any in the land of the Linnorm Kingdoms? If so, where would I find out information regarding that lodge.

So I am building a Lawful Evil Human Fighter(no Archetype) that wears fullplate and wields a bastard sword. He does not have the bastard sword feat, so he MUST wield it two handed. Also I went with dual talented so at level 1 he only has 2 feats (class & level).

Oddly I am at a loss with what feats to pick. Any ideas?

I am building a NPC based of the character Ashram from Record of Lodoss War.
I was thinking having him serve Queen Elvanna of Irrisen, but I dont how to approach his class make up precisely. I was thinking a human anti-paladin, but that just seems to chaotic. Lawful Evil just seems perfect, but what class and feats would I give him?

I want to build him as though he could be a PC.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

So if you dont know who Ashram from record lodoss war here is some info and pics:

http://lestatlevampire.vip-blog.com/medias/0307/lestatlevampire-vip-blog-co m-300793GalchrAshramchr3.jpg

"Lord Ashram
Known as the "Black Knight", Ashram is a highly skilled warrior and the former retainer and right-hand aide of Emperor Beld. He served Beld during the War of Heroes, and was sent in the front to deal with any possible resistance. After the death of Beld at the hands of Karla the Grey Witch in the OVA (or Kashue in the TV series), Ashram took up his blade, The Demon Sword Soul Crusher and returned to Marmo to regroup. Later on, Ashram seeks to dominate Lodoss rather than conquer it, as he looks for one of the governor's treasures, the Scepter of Domination. After the destruction of the scepter, Ashram is believed to have died in the fires of Fire Dragon Mountain, but it is later revealed that one of the agents of Wagnard sacrifices his powers (stripped by Wagnard himself) in order to save his life. Ashram is voiced by Akira Kamiya in the original OAV, and by Shō Hayami in the TV series. In the English version, he is voiced by John Knox in both series."

Can a wolf, worg or winter wolf be carrier of the lycanthropy virus/disease?

So designing my character for the Reign of Winter adventure path.

My question is what should i do for favored terrain and favored enemy. Also is it possible to have winter wolf blood in your heritage lorewise?

Brief Description: He is with white hair and ice-blue eyes. From the ever frozen lands of Irrisen, was found as a babe by a pathfinder. Later met a ranger that ranger that has taught him the way of the ranger and how to survive in the wilderness. It is said that he has the blood of a winter wolf coursing through his veins. Giving him his hair, eyes and affinity with animals.

I have read the rules for mounted combat, but what I dont remember seeing anything about penalties or lack there of if i DONT move on my mount while making a ranged attack.

Am I missing something or are there only penalties if I move and attack?

Was wondering when you gain a level with a feat if you can switch out any of your old ones...maybe it wasn't exactly right for your build or, you dont use it AT ALL or so on...Or is it once you have locked it in it is permanent?

Say I have the trait Defender of the Society trait, and wanted to trade in my old scale mail for Mithral Scale Mail; would the trait still apply?

Here is all the data that I think is applicable to the situation.

Defender of the Society
Your time spent fighting and studying the greatest warriors of the society has taught you new defensive skills while wearing armor.

Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus to Armor Class when wearing medium or heavy armor.

Scale Mail 50 gp AC:+5 MAx Dex:+3 Armor Check:–4

Mithral
Mithral is a very rare silvery, glistening metal that is lighter than steel but just as hard.

When worked like steel, it becomes a wonderful material from which to create armor, and is occasionally used for other items as well. Most mithral armors are one category lighter than normal for purposes of movement and other limitations. Heavy armors are treated as medium, and medium armors are treated as light, but light armors are still treated as light. This decrease does not apply to proficiency in wearing the armor. A character wearing mithral full plate must be proficient in wearing heavy armor to avoid adding the armor's check penalty to all his attack rolls and skill checks that involve moving. Spell failure chances for armors and shields made from mithral are decreased by 10%, maximum Dexterity bonuses are increased by 2, and armor check penalties are decreased by 3 (to a minimum of 0).

Items not primarily of metal are not meaningfully affected by being partially made of mithral. (A longsword can be a mithral weapon, while a quarterstaff cannot.) Mithral weapons count as silver for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

HP/inch 30
Hardness 15
Cost Weapons or armors fashioned from mithral are always masterwork items as well; the masterwork cost is included in the prices given below.
Weight 1/2 normal
Weight (Longer Wording) An item made from mithral weighs half as much as the same item made from other metals. In the case of weapons, this lighter weight does not change a weapon's size category or the ease with which it can be wielded (whether it is light, one-handed, or two-handed).

So In the people of the north player companion they released the viking archetype. That is something I have been drooling over for a long time now. Anyways I am debating about the weapon composition I am gonna have for my character.

My rough idea is the following

Adventure Path: Reign of Winter
Character: Thoradin
Human (Ulfen) Fighter - Viking Archetype

Greatsword, Warhammer & Heavy Wooden Shield Setup
Level 1 Feats: Dodge, Improved Initiative, and Power Attack
Level 2 Bonus Feat: Intimidating Prowess (to go with the class ability Fearsome)
Level 3 feat: Weapon Focus (Great Sword)
Level 4 Bonus feat: Shield of swings
Level 5 feat: Extra Rage

OR

Bastard Sword & Heavy Wooden Shield
Level 1 Feats: Dodge, Improved Initiative, and Exotic Wpn Prof (bastard Sword)
Level 2 Bonus Feat: Intimidating Prowess (to go with the class ability Fearsome)
Level 3 feat: Power Attack
Level 4 Bonus Feat: Weapon focus (Bastard Sword)
Level 5 feat: Extra Rage

If you don't know this archetype i recommend you checking it out.
but they get rage at level 4 and rage power at level 6.
Also shield training at level 3.

What other feats should I consider?
I plan on playing him mainly going 2h, and pulling out the shield when he needs the extra defense.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So after watching the Karl Urban flick Dredd, which is awesome, I want to build a pathfinder character like him. So my fellow pathfinders I call upon you for some advice! Let me see what you have!

I have been collecting the Adventure Path Player's guides for my players.
Been printing them out at work (yay for nice fancy printers).

Anyways I could find the guides for all the other AP's but not that one, Second Darkness, does it exist?

Thinking about either having adamantine or mithral chainmail made, which one do you think? Which one is better?

The character is an ulfen viking wielding a bastard sword and shield.

Was thinking about making an item for one of my players, but beside the bonuses it gives I kinda want to give him a penalty. Like lower one of his skills or an ability score. Would that be legit? and is there even a pricing for such a thing?

One of the requirements for the PrC is "If the character has sorcerer levels, he must have the draconic bloodline." My question is would the archetype: wild blood - linnorm work too? Since it does follow the draconic bloodline only slight difference is the first arcane power and the arcana.

I mean Linnorm's are very closely related to a dragon.

"Linnorms are a family of gigantic, wingless dragons with long serpentine bodies, which make their homes in the far northern reaches of Avistan."

source: http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Linnorm

So I have been wanting to make a character that uses Katar's, but I am pretty sure there aren't Katar's in PF =/ The best example of what im talking about are the weapons in this picture linked below.

http://www.strategyzero.com/images/LoL/SplashArt/Zed_Splash_1.jpg

What would you classify those under? I am at a complete loss...

Was wondering if there was a way to get perception as a class skill by using a trait.

I am making a Fighter and multiclassing isn't an option.

Was thinking about creating a helmet that put the spell aspect of the wolf on the wearer and also giving the wearer night vision 60 ft.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/a/aspect-of-the-wolf

I still havent "mastered" the craft of creating homebrew items so I ask the masters. How much would it cost and what do you think the exact bonuses would be?

School transmutation (polymorph); Level druid 5, ranger 4

CASTING
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, DF

EFFECT
Range personal
Targets you
Duration 1 minute/level

DESCRIPTION
When you cast this spell, you take on an aspect of a wolf, including some of its physical characteristics. You become more rugged, your ears become elongated, and you sprout sharp fangs and fur.

You gain a +4 enhancement bonus to Strength and Dexterity, the scent ability, a +2 enhancement bonus on trip attacks, and can make a trip combat maneuver as a swift action. This trip attack does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

Would it be possible to make one and how much would one think it owuld cost? I am referring to spell listed below.

Quote:
Abundant Ammunition

School conjuration (summoning); Level bard 1, cleric 1,
ranger 1, sorcerer/wizard 1
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, M/DF (a single piece of ammunition)
Target one container touched
Duration 1 minute/level
Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance no
When cast on a container such as a quiver or a pouch that
contains nonmagical ammunition or shuriken (including
masterwork ammunition or shuriken), at the start of each
round this spell replaces any ammunition taken from the
container the round before. The ammunition taken from the
container the round before vanishes. If, after casting this spell,
you cast a spell that enhances projectiles, such as align weapon
or greater magic weapon, on the same container, all projectiles
this spell conjures are affected by that spell.

In the book Lands of the Linnorm Kings, it is mentioned in a timeline paragraph about Linnorm-Scale Armor.

"4648 Aurnlagr the Fearless disappears in the Black Tarn,
wearing his linnorm-scale armor and carrying the
sword Rixbrand."

I was wondering what you guys think Linnorm-scale armor would be like?

Making a character and was thinking of trying to use a Large Bastard Sword...how would I go about doing that without shooting myself in the foot?

I am looking for feats and abilities that would aid in this task.

+3 Thundering Shocking Burst Adamantine Large Warhammer
Upon activation may use Call Lightning Storm 3/day

Large Adamantine Warhammer 3024 GP
+3 enchancement bonus = 18000 GP
Thundering = 2000 GP
Shocking Burst = 8000 GP
Call Lightning Storm 3/day = 27000 GP
Total Creation price = 58024 GP
Market Value = 116048 GP

The top 4 were very easy to price, but the special command use was a wee bit confusing...

I did the following formula SL x 1800 x per day (5x1800x3)

For these special type abilities, command uses its very hard to gauge the prices, but I thought I would give it a try.

WOuld like to know how i should tweak it and wondering if i did the last power price calculation incorrectly.

When making magical items the price is very important, how do i determine the creation price of an item? is there a magical formula? lol
