Writing my own campaign that takes place in the Saga lands and the Crown of the World. Wanted to introduce some new archetypes and lore from the region.

The link below is the pdf of the rough draft kf the archetype. Its inspired by the 1e style teamwork feat chain Linnorm Hunter Style, Retreat and Coordination. Feedback would be swell.

I remember reading in Lost Omens Legends that she's effectively at war with one of the Linnorm Kingdoms (the one with a Warden?) but I don't think there was much mentioned about Irrisen and the other kingdoms because Belimarius is a much bigger problem for them.

Belimarius?

So since Anastasia becoming Queen of Irrisen is considered the canon ending of RoW. Since we know she is different than the rest and has made life better for the common folk of Irrisen and the winter witches regard her as the "Fraud Queen."

My question is do we have an idea how the relationship between irrisen and the linnorm kingdoms will be affected?

Dunno why you're saying Linnorm Wrath, and unarmed. I'm referring to the feat Linnorm
Hunter Style.

https://www.aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Linnorm%20Hunter%20Style

So built a character that used AoO's to their advantage. Basically enemy attacks me using the broken wing gambit bonuses provoking an AoO from either me or my animal companion depending who they attacked.

Basically question is can you get an AoO with Paired Opportunist from your ally's paired opportunists AoO?

I made a flowchart of how I am thinking it works. would like a ruling.

Hey. First stab at making my own archetype...I really wanted a full Bab Hunter w/out spells. I really wanted to focus on the PC and AC relationship. The inspiration was my brother in law who retired from the special forces and kept his service dog. He was on of those badasses that jumped out of airplanes with a dog attached to him...

Anyways I know historically some cultures have used dogs and animals in combat or hunting...so that was my partial inspiration....below is a link, and you can leave a comment on that google doc.

I really want to make it a balanced archetype that maybe a GM will one day let me play to test it out.

Wait wait wait...its also a teamwork feat? Because it definitely isnt printed as that...its a Combat and Style feat

Nevermind...I am wrong. It is printed as a Combat, Style and Teamwork Feat

We made sure to specifically set prerequisites that allow characters with animal companions other than hunters to gain access to the feat as well. This is why we added the special line that specifies that animal companions with a 1 or 2 Intelligence can take the feat. (An animal companion can normally only take a feat from the predetermined Animal Feats list unless they increase their Intelligence to 3.) That does mean that an animal companion must still meet the prerequisites for the feat, so it does limit the animal companions that can take it, but it is still something you can plan for in advance.

If this was designed with hunters in mind, then why Charisma instead of Wisdom? Which would seem more fitting for Hunters that need to be wise in their tactics hunting Linnorms.

Wait wait wait...this doesnt have the whole Inner Sea Region? No Land of the Linnorm Kings?

I was wondering if we there is an official paizo ruling to say whether they stacked or didnt. I know the RAW says it doesnt... both bonuses take it from a +2 to a +4.

While I have seen guides and a lot of house rulings say they do.

One reason I have heard as of why they stacked is because when they were written it could have been with the assumption that you didnt have a bonus to the flanking bonus already, and the feat or feature didnt take the other in consideration or was even remembered about.

Just thought it would be nice to get an official ruling and make my build and day complete.

I'm building a character and this was one of the setups I was looking at, but I would like some clarification on the Martial Flexibility aspect.

Do I stack the class feature? If so, what wording do I default to Brawler or Fighter? Separate Pools?

I know stupid question, but I always double/triple check my results or answers.

Chess Pwn wrote:
Yup, if they don't say to stack the levels then they are two separate abilities.

Yea I wonder if it was intended or just overlooked. Hopefully if over looked we can an errata on it.

I planned on dipping 2 levels into hunters and then straight ranger, and noticed they don't stack or work in tandem.

The way I was seeing and interpreting it is as though I would have 2 animal focuses going on me from 2 sources and 1 on my companion from Hunter then at 7th level ranger another for my companion.

Am I wrong? How would you deal with it?

Hunters Animal Focus (sorry phone was struggling to highlight it, so here is a link)

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/hybrid-classes/Hunter/#TOC-Animal-Focus-Su-

Wild Hunter Rangers Animal Focus

Animal Focus (Su)
At 1st level, as a swift action a wild hunter can take on the aspect of an animal, gaining a bonus or special ability based on the type of animal emulated. This functions as the hunter’s animal focus class feature, though this only applies to the wild hunter and not an animal companion (see shared focus, below). The wild hunter can use this ability for 1 minute per day per ranger level. This duration does not need to be consecutive, but it must be spent in 1-minute increments. He can only emulate one animal at a time.

This ability replaces all instances of the favored enemy class ability.

Shared Focus (Su)
At 7th level, a wild hunter can share his current animal focus with one creature appropriate to his hunter’s bond. If the wild hunter’s bond is with an animal companion, the companion automatically gains the benefits of the wild hunter’s current animal focus. If the wild hunter’s bond is with his companions, as a swift action he can select one bonded ally to gain the benefits of the hunter’s current animal focus; this lasts until the hunter’s bond ends, the animal focus ends for the wild hunter, or the wild hunter selects a different companion.

This ability replaces woodland stride and swift tracker.

Ummm. Anyone got info on that Wolfdog?

The idea is a Raging Ranger that works in tandem with his animal companion protecting his domain/nature/home.

What the Ranger would lose:
light and medium armor proficiency
favored enemy and favored terrain
endurance bonus feat
quarry and improved quarry
Camouflage
Hide in plain sight
Master Hunter
spellcasting

What would be altered:
hunter's bond -> level 1
Evasion -> only when he is wearing no armor

What would be gained:
Rage -> rage ability as the barbarian class feature, but its barbarian level is considered to be his ranger level –3.
rage powers

Things im thinking over:
favored enemy or a favored terrain
only using rage powers in your favored terrain
or only being able to rage while in combat with your favored enemy

this is an idea i just recently pondered...i would like some input good or bad give it to me

Alright. Now I can stomp on his dreams.

So I have a player that is looking at this abilit/class feature to allow him to monkey grip in essence. The rules are stated at the bottom.

At level 1 he takes Titan fighter which states that he can use a two handed large weapon with two hands. So a large bastard sword would be wielded with two hands because no exotic weapon proficiency.

So he decides to go ranger for levels one and 2 and picks two weapon fighting style. And uses his level 3 feat to grab exotic weapon proficiency (bastard sword) which would allow him to wield it with one hand instead of two.

I understand his logic. Because the class feature allows him to wield with two hands, and the feat is now augmenting how he wields the swords.

Question is: Is he wrong?

Rules:

Wielding a one handed weapon on size category bigger than the character takes two hands and -2 penalty. So human wielding a large longs word takes two hands instead of one.

Giant Weapon Wielder (Ex)

At 1st level, a titan fighter can wield two-handed melee weapons intended for creatures one size category larger than himself, treating them as two-handed weapons. He takes an additional –2 penalty on attack rolls when using an over-sized two-handed weapon.

This ability replaces the fighter's 1st level bonus feat.

We have your standard samurai, and your sword saint samurai. Have we ever thought about an archetype based off Miyamoto Musashi? You know specializing in dual wielding katana and wakizashi? The perfect offense and the perfect defense as they would say?

Imo, if Paizo ever does make a line of collectible figures I would love to see the "Red Dragon Goblin. He would never leave my desk.

I would say quality comparison to the Blizzard's Action figure line, but just way cooler characters :)

As someone who really loved the old LJN AD&D action figures (at least the pre-Battle-matic/Shield Shooter ones), I'd be all for this. The Dragonne and Hook Horror of that line are still some of the most well done, detailed I've seen, and with the advancements in action figure detail in the years since those came out, I think these could be really awesome.

Just imagine:

2-3 series of Figures would cover the Iconic characters, Then another series of Iconic monsters like the goblin. Crap every series could have an exclusive goblin for that series or a limited edition goblin. GOTTA COLLECT THEM ALL!

Erik Mona wrote:

I've looked into it, and for right now the costs associated with building molds for this type of thing means we'd need to sell several thousand of each figure (likely more like 10 or 20 thousand), and that seems like a bit of a stretch to me.

I want Pathfinder action figures too (and I know Lisa does as well), so in the meantime we're doing everything we can to grow the size of the Pathfinder audience in general to the point where something like this becomes more feasible.

We _are_ producing some Pathfinder Mini-Mates with our partners at Diamond Select Toys, with the first set (featuring Merisiel, Harsk, Valeros, and a Goblin) coming out some time around Christmas. Mini-Mates are about 2 inches tall, and come with swappable equipment, hair, and outfits, so it should be pretty cool and a nice way to pass the time until genuine action figures are a real possibility.

Awesome! It is cool to know that you guys have looked into it. I will definitely be getting my hands on those Mini-Mates when they come out. Thank you for addressing this thread too! Never thought it would actually catch the eyes of Paizo.

I guess you are right...6-8" collectible figures of the iconic characters. I would buy the whole set, and have them on a shelf above my PF books.

I am a big action figure collector, I have been collecting for a long while now, and I have been thinking it would be very cool to see roughly 12" versions of the iconic characters. I mean highly detailed action figures that are just beautiful to look at. Thought I would post it here and see if anyone else would be interested in that idea.

12" highly detailed collectable figures of the Iconics?

I was thinking it would be kind of nice if us players or users of a messageboards had a chat room. So we would have a place for rapid responses, maybe a place to hang out and discuss ideas with a faster pace than the message boards...Just an idea.

PS a chat room for every section of a message board. IE General discussion, advice, so on and so forth.

I see, I see...Sorcerer with a couple levels of monk...want to be able to get hand to hand if needed. :)

I need help building this, I think multiclassing is the way to go, but would like to ask my fellow pathfinders helps.

Concept: An orphaned Ulfen child roaming the streets of Karlsgard, and was adopted by a group of monks in the jade quarter. they taught him the style of the dragon, but as he grew older and honed the style it slowly adapted and change in the a dragon style that reflected a linnorm's movements. During his time of mastery his personal dragon style he showed the abilities to use elemental based attacks.

The goal is trying to make a martial arts master that can shoot some fireballs, lightning bolts or a sweeping kicks that shoot a firearc.

It might sound dumb, but I have been watching to much avatar and reading too many pathfinder books >.<

ALrighty...definitely going to research druid more for my Hummingbird Knight.

Trolling the GM. Great way to start a campaign.

GM was one of my groomsmen in my wedding. I am like his younger brother. So yes trolling GM makes playing the game much more interesting. The group troll eachother with every character.

Hmmm I guess making a hummingbird knight is a no go. Wanted to play one for my friends adventure path. He hates hummingbirds and gnomes. And doesn't like to house rule.

Ooo that is a good idea.

...Im thinking the humming bird would be like an animal companion or a cavalier mount...mainly focusing on the lance and using the rapier as a sidearm.

Concept

Gnome that rides around on a riding-dog sized hummingbird.
He uses a lance and/or rapier. I just don't know exactly how to go about it.

Can I get help building from my fellow pathfinders?

Snowcaster Elf rogue? hmmm

If a mount is large is it 2 by 2 squares or 1 by 2 squares?

At level 10 a ranger's companion grows in size. If I had a wolf at medium size then it goes to large at level 7 would it be ride-able?

Its crazy how expensive magical items can be.

ShoulderPatch wrote:
Effortless Armor spell, ultimate combat.

Hmmm. I think this is exactly what I am looking for.

Now how much would it cost to enchant it on dragonhide scale mail?

Hello,

I was wondering if there are ways to reduce the movement speed penalty in medium or heavy armor.

I do know that you can get the armor made of mithral, and that helps, and there is the fighter armor training if i recall correctly. My question is if there is anything else that I am not seeing or thinking of? Magic? Would I just need to make magical armor? and if that is the case what spells would I need to prepare for that armor.

So I know that they are several pathfinder lodges that are located through out the inner sea region. But are there any in the land of the Linnorm Kingdoms? If so, where would I find out information regarding that lodge.

So to stick in theme of the fighter I am building.

Starting with chainmail and a greatsword and eventually getting some plate mail.

Going down the WF/WS/GWF/GWS feat tree,Power Attack --> Furious Focus, and grabbing Cleave --> Great Cleave. Yes a lil' vanilla, but it fit the theme. The other feats I will pick up really depend on where, when and what we are doing.

Basically the group has 2 campaigns going the good guys and the bad guys.
This character is the Lawful Evil Fighter that follows Zon-Kuthon.
The goal of the bad guy group is to thwart the good guy group. And if we ever encounter the other group. The GM plays the group we aren't playing that night.

Seen several good and bad guy deaths already, and oh the faces of the players. LOL

In a situation like that, straight up power is likely the way to go, then...as much as I prefer a flexible character, you need to be able to kill quickly and efficiently...and options aren't much of an issue. Don't forget Improved Initiative...you can't kill quickly if your initiative blows.

Truth. I will pick that up at level one. Boy was it great to read your guys discussion though.

The melee character of the good guy group is a lot more flexible, but less of a killing machine. So we shall see how this all turns out, and what party wins.

It alls depends what the Op wants.

He ca not do wrong with the standard Power attack/FUrious focus/WF/GWF/WS/GWS and improved critical. Plus Iron will and ligthing reflexes to improve his saves.

It is a pretty straightforward but effective build.

The Op have to say what other tactic would he like to have (besides hitting the enemies with a pointy stick)

WOuld he like to trip?, grapple? have a ranged option? something else?

Besides sticking them with the pointy end. What else would be a good thing to add to my repertoire? I was thinking Dodge into Whirlwind Attack feat tree. So this Fighter can charge into the midst of combat and cause as much devastation as plausible.

You guys aren't derailing the thread. I am learning a lot and figuring out how I am gonna make this plate wearing, greatsword wielding mofo a badarse. So please keep up the discussion.

Edit: he wont have full plat until a lil later on down the road. Since he cant afford it, but that is how I picture him in my head

I am running with a greatsword now...might as well

Wearing heavy armor means he can't use spring attack.

I don't see where it says I cant use Spring Attack if I am wearing Heavy Armor.

You can deftly move up to a foe, strike, and withdraw before he can react.

Prerequisites: Dex 13, Dodge, Mobility, base attack bonus +4.

Benefit: As a full-round action, you can move up to your speed and make a single melee attack without provoking any attacks of opportunity from the target of your attack. You can move both before and after the attack, but you must move at least 10 feet before the attack and the total distance that you move cannot be greater than your speed. You cannot use this ability to attack a foe that is adjacent to you at the start of your turn.

Normal: You cannot move before and after an attack.

So I am building a Lawful Evil Human Fighter(no Archetype) that wears fullplate and wields a bastard sword. He does not have the bastard sword feat, so he MUST wield it two handed. Also I went with dual talented so at level 1 he only has 2 feats (class & level).

Oddly I am at a loss with what feats to pick. Any ideas?

I don't remember Ashram having any special skills beyond being an extremely skilled swordsman. I would build him as a pure fighter without any modification. He used heavy armor in the show and could benefit from some feats that avail him of the use of his high Dex mod, but that's about it.

What aspects of Ashram are you trying to model? Is there a specific reason why you feel he wouldn't be a pure fighter?

You have a very good point. I was just thinking off adding a magical element to the character aspect, but I think a just a plain fighter that with that kind of conviction could be scary.

Weapon: Longsword
Armor: Plate

Any ideas for feats?

I am building a NPC based of the character Ashram from Record of Lodoss War.
I was thinking having him serve Queen Elvanna of Irrisen, but I dont how to approach his class make up precisely. I was thinking a human anti-paladin, but that just seems to chaotic. Lawful Evil just seems perfect, but what class and feats would I give him?

I want to build him as though he could be a PC.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

So if you dont know who Ashram from record lodoss war here is some info and pics:

"Lord Ashram
Known as the "Black Knight", Ashram is a highly skilled warrior and the former retainer and right-hand aide of Emperor Beld. He served Beld during the War of Heroes, and was sent in the front to deal with any possible resistance. After the death of Beld at the hands of Karla the Grey Witch in the OVA (or Kashue in the TV series), Ashram took up his blade, The Demon Sword Soul Crusher and returned to Marmo to regroup. Later on, Ashram seeks to dominate Lodoss rather than conquer it, as he looks for one of the governor's treasures, the Scepter of Domination. After the destruction of the scepter, Ashram is believed to have died in the fires of Fire Dragon Mountain, but it is later revealed that one of the agents of Wagnard sacrifices his powers (stripped by Wagnard himself) in order to save his life. Ashram is voiced by Akira Kamiya in the original OAV, and by Shō Hayami in the TV series. In the English version, he is voiced by John Knox in both series."
