Grand Lodge

Wait, let's do it in gameplay! Then you guys can talk about what to do out of character here.

Grand Lodge

Alright then. First task is simple. Tell me how you get to the manner. Alone or with another player? On foot, horse, magic, or some other means of travel? When you get your rides down in the Gameplay, I'll dis rube the manner in all its gothic beauty and we can get this shin dig Rollin. Have fun!

Grand Lodge

Whoops. Didn't even notice. Oh well. How soon do you guys wanna start?

Grand Lodge

Of course. Ill say everyone still has 24 hours to submit or make changes. Think you can do it in that amount of time?

Grand Lodge

Well, tomorrow is the last day to submit or make changes. I'm really impressed with the entrys submitted and it will be a bit of a chalanged to pick just 5. Thanks you all for applying and here's hoping this game goes well enough to motivate me to make many more. Good luck everyone and I hope you all had fun!

Grand Lodge

Weapons are fine. The idea is an impending sense of defenselessness. A mace for safety. A rapier to show rank in military. Al Longswords from habit and precaution. I just don't want a paladin showing up in full plate-mail and being a wall of steel between an opponent and the rest of the party. That's why I asked for little to no armor. I want to see you all succeed through cunning and wit rather than strength and skill at arms.

Grand Lodge

So, just curious, but what all are you guys expecting in this game? You all might give me some fun new ideas.

Grand Lodge

*Roxboyxiii cast Restore on the thread! It was cured of it's silence!*

Hi. Hello. Umm... Direct intervention by GM here. Ben, I personally dislike both asking someone to change the person they worked hard to get just right for them just to suit your desires as well as making jokes or off-color remarks about important aspects of said characters. In Galorian, drugs are more of a shady half of the sun lit businesses. Pesh is legal in many major city's. I'm not kicking you out of the running just yet, but I do ask that you apologize so that there can be less tensions if both you and Sitko are chosen.

Edit: I feel dumb for saying this, but I'm actually not sure if with Sitko's edit she is roleplaying or actually offended. Still, this post stands to also act as a warning for other rabble rousers.

(To self: ask and you shall receive!)

@Shuni Barsdal Any trait is fine, and two is my go to number for them. Rich Parents is the only one I ask you don't take. Can't have too much gold. I've never been a fan of drawbacks myself, However, I am curious about how one can use them in creative ways. As long as you explain what the drawback does, I'm all for it. Also, don't forget to double your gold.

@TheOrcnextdoor Thank you very much. I am happy to get any help on this game. Feel free to make a cleric of any god you want. (My personal favorite is of Aspu, the God of dragons)

Grand Lodge

Seems my thread is lookin thin. Hope things pick up at some point.

Grand Lodge

I'm knew to play-by-post, and to get my feet wet, I want to try something simple. Five people, one mansion, 3 NPC's, and little to no combat. At least, for now. If the drive to push this story gets big enough, I may just make it a piece of a much wider story. Please post your Character along with skills, description of appearance, and reason for being at Gildcrypt Manor. Thank you for your time.

What's useable:
Everything. I want to see what everyone can make, though I'm looking for characters who can compliment each other. I do ask that there be no advanced technology based entries, but other than that, anything goes.

Grand Lodge

Howdy friend. I have two ideas. A gnome alchemist who is a follower of the God of machine's and invention, and a half- elf Kineticist. Please tell me which you would prefer, and I'll get the stats and story to you right away.

Grand Lodge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Just to add my opinion to the mix, while trying to stay somewhat on topic, I would like to say that the amount of creativity and care put into each entry here has, for lack of a better word, astonished me. My only exposure to character creation is my friend's home-brews, and Society play. To sum up each, A buddy started a Magic the Gathering themed campaign and asked us to make our own planeswalkers. It ended up being my self made character who I wrote how his spark ignited and his powers and experiences, then there was a Jace (Human psychic with the amnesiac discipline), Chandra (Female human Pyrokinetisist), and Nissa (Elvan elementalist Druid).

As for Society, they all made characters purely by the stats, and even gave them names such as Rodeblok, Slash, and Brjute. To come here after all that to see so many people take the time to incorporate the need to journey north, norther lifestyle, and subtle personal touches, such as actually personality, a deeper connection to the ice theme, and more reason to adventure than "Because there's treasure out there" is amazing to say the least. I have little hope in being one of the four chosen to play, (though I'm by no means dropping out), but from what I've seen, whoever is chosen greatly deserves to be picked because you all showed one thing I've just never seen yet: a love for the game.

Any way, now that my rambling is over... I must say, this recruitment post is a cool place to just chill and enjoy an ice time with all you guys who snow how to have a good time.

P.S. Sorry for the long posts. I swear they won't be near as bad when I actually play. Best wishes to all.

Grand Lodge

@GM Frosty: Oops, my bad. Truth is, I typed all that on my phone, due to the lack of Internet at my house. My dad's a bit of a minimalist. However, I'm going to my local Card shop/comic book store that has Wi-fi, and I was going to both fix some things, as well as expand the fluff. I'm glad you like it, though. I hope that my fixing and expanding doesn't ruin it, but the backstory just feels a little light to me, and some of the extra fluff looks like I was repeating myself a lot. Here's hoping I can flesh him out more later today.

Grand Lodge

Final question before I post Malian's Stats and story. If I'm using an Archtype that uses Psy-Spell casting, do I HAVE to use the thought and emotion components to cast the spells, or can I use the normal Somatic and Verbal components? I understand the earlier has its pros, such as silent and still spell already a part of the lack of movements and sounds, but the old way gives way to more interesting ways of casting a spell. My verbal and someone else's verbal components for Magic Missle may differ greatly, and can also reflect how we each see "Magic" as a natural force.

Grand Lodge

@GM Frosty:Well, as I'm still working on my Mindblade's fluff, I was thinking about making it so that he traveled around a lot, and as a bit of flavor, he "Projects" his weapons by converging the elements around him and forging the weapon from pure energy. I have plans to multi-class as a Kinetisist, and that way he can better get a grasp on his ability to manipulate the elements. If this is alright with you, I will happily keep working twords this. If you'd rather I did something else, I can easily make a different character. As always, I am open to suggestion and criticism.

Grand Lodge

Oh, that reminds me. I really am thinking of playing my Elvan Mindblade, but if you'd rather not deal with the Occult Adventures book, I have plenty other characters to pick from. They are all made and ready to go after some tweaking for the stats and traits. If anyone has any suggestions on what might make a good addition to the team, I'd be more than happy to hear them as well.

Grand Lodge

@Almonihah: Thank you very much for the help. Glad to have learned this before simply typing all of the information and then letting it all be seen.

Grand Lodge

What's my best weapon?:
My mind. No really. I'm a mindblade.

Grand Lodge

Also, one more thing. Should we post our Characters stats and story's here, or is there a different way to do that process. As I said earlier, I'm compleatly knew to the Play- by- Post style of games, and not sure how to go about this.

Grand Lodge

Is it too late for a gnome alchemist or Half Elven Occultist? I've never tried playing in this format, and with all the characters I have in the back log, and my love of fluff, I'd really enjoy trying this out. If you still have room, may I please join?
