Climb check to aid Frankie: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
Climb check to aid Serinda: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
Climb check for Rovaan: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16

Eventually, Rovaan manages to clamber up the small cliff and join the rest of the group. His expression saddens as he sees the corpse; though he didn't know the half-orc woman who now lay dead and forgotten in this cavern, the sight of a corpse made the reality of the situation become far more apparent. This was no fool's errand, and there was a very real chance that any one of the companions could suffer the same fate.

After Eska finished rummaging through the corpse's belongings, Rovaan retrieves the blanket from his bedroll inside his pack. Kneeling down beside the woman, he quietly shifts her body into a more peaceful pose before wrapping the blanket tightly around her.

'That should keep the rats at bay, for now.' he mutters to himself before pressing on with the rest of the group.

"Here Frankie, let me help." says Rovaan as he sheathes his blade. He links his fingers, creating a step with his hands to aid her in scaling the cliff.

"You too?" he offers to Serinda before making his own way up.

I guess Ro will take the rear position in the marching order, and I'll move his token up to follow after Serinda has climbed up.

Rovaan nods in response to Molly as he steps over the corpse of the slain beetle. Moving behind the bug which now harasses Eska, he drives his blade toward it with bestial fury.

Rovaan will move into flanking with Eska (I tried to adjust my position on the map, but it looks like I'm locked out and can't shift my token) and strike at bug #4

Attack Roll w/flanking: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10

As the beetles rush toward the group, Rovaan's demeanour once again shifts into a feral state. A low, guttural growl not unlike that of a threatened wolf rumbles from his throat as he swiftly draws his blade and brings it to bear against the creature which is threatening his friend.

Melee attack vs. Beetle #3 (John? George? I don't even know anymore): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 1) + 4 = 11

Rovaan blushes a deep shade of red as Frankie puts her arm around his shoulder.

"I....uh.... Sure, I can help. Just hold on tight, I'll make sure we both get to the other side." he stutters with an awkward smile..

Rovaan went with Molly to purchase waterproof bags for his equipment. I'll adjust my GP accordingly.

Rovaan fidgets with the small pendant which hangs on a leather cord around his neck, his excitement obviously turning into nervousness.

"I'm ready when you are." he says with bravado.

"I have spells which can bring light as well, I don't think we need to worry about torches so much.'says Rovaan. He stands awkwardly toward the back of the group near Molly, amazed at the thought that he might actually be venturing under the mountain in search of Khonnir. A real adventure!

"I didn't even think of half of that stuff Molly, you're so clever! I told you it was a good idea for you to come along." he mutters under his breath to his halfling friend.

Rovaan turns as he feels Molly's small hand on his arm.
"I'm fine, little one. It happens sometimes when I... when I feel angry or afraid. My father says it's a gift, that the old spirits of my people are with me, but I just feel embarrassed about it." he says with a forced smile and blushing cheeks.

------------------------------------------

He listens as Val introduces herself and suggests they all head to the tavern, then waits for Molly to leave before following her into the building.

Rovaan's expression softens moments after the immediate threat of the robot is no more. Embarrassed at his savage behaviour, he focuses his attention on his blade, checking that the edge hasn't dulled from the impact of steel on steel.

As Eska violently belts the broken machine with her mace, he glances at her with curiosity before sheathing his sword. At the sound of the child's voice, he moves closer to see if she is alright.

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

Rovaan barks savagely as he closes with the robot, his eyes narrowed and lips drawn back into a snarl. Stepping forward to flank the enemy, he swings his heavy blade downward in an attempt to cleave the robot in half.
5ft step into flanking (free action), melee attack (standard action)

Roger, just checking in to make sure you weren't waiting on me to post my next move

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

Are we back around to first initiative?

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

That's a relief; I've kinda churned out my last few posts here because I feared I'd be left behind. It's good to know I can take the time to put up more quality ones in future.

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

Hey all, I'm out of town for the next 48hrs. I can still post, but can't access Roll20 on my phone. Would it be easiest for you to bot me GM, or would you prefer I post my actions and you make the adjustments on the map?

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

Oh, my bad. Won't happen again GM, I'm sorry!

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

As the screams pierce the air, Rovaan's demeanor changes drastically. His head cocks to the side as he listens intently, sniffing the air to discern where the threat lies.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

With a guttural growl, he stalks forward towards the house, drawing his massive blade.

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

Rovaan stopped and took a knee facing Molly, placing both of his large hands on her shoulders.

"Molly, we know nothing about the groups who went before us. Were they scholars? Guardsmen? Poor townsfolk lured into danger by the promise of such a grand reward? Who knows? All I know is that this feels like destiny calling! Maybe the flame sputtering to a stop was our call to action, to rise up and accept the fates themselves challenging us! I know there is more to life than spending it hammering at an anvil, and there's no one else I'd rather have beside me in the face of such an adventure than Molly Fairlocks!" he spoke grandly, hoping to inspire his ever-meek friend.

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

"So that's it? We've got the job?" Rovaan says with a hint of confusion. All this talk of writs and discounts muddled his mind as he tried to keep up with the conversation, but he was sure this meant that the motley group's offer to help had been accepted.

"We've got the job! I need to collect some things, but I'll head to The Foundry afterwards and meet up with you all."

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

The tension in the room is blindingly obvious as Eska eyes off Serinda. Rovaan steps forward, placing himself casually between the two just in case they decide to erupt inside the chamber.

Rovaan has nothing to say at present, I just wanted to throw a post in to show that I'm still paying attention :)

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

*Also while still outside*

Rovaan smiles as Molly explains their situation to Frankie, and his grin widens at the news that there are others ready and willing to venture into the caves in search of Khonnir.

"Our ancestors smile upon us today! I think that's a sound idea Frankie, we should head inside." he exclaims proudly before boldly striding through the door.

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

Rovaan wandered aimlessly through the streets of Torch, his troubled expression clear to see. Not only had they lost the magnificent flame which gave the town it's name, but now Councilor Khonnir had gone missing. The fact that he had heard rumors of more strange mechanical creatures crawling up from beneath the down to harass the locals made matters even worse. It had been 8 days since he'd had any decent work, and if things kept going the way they were he would soon be out of a home too. The reward the council were offering was starting to look very attractive to the young blacksmith, if only he could find some companions to join him.

"I'll ask Molly! She's always up for some excitement. I remember that night we snuck off to follow Old Man Bhirig the Baker because we thought he was a vampire! We were so frightened, but following him out into the woods was such a thrill! At least it was until we discovered he was no deadly creature of the night, but a simple baker having an affair with his wife's sister. Still, what an adventure!" he thought to himself as he strolled, heading toward Molly's home.

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

@Serinda, that's a cool connection. If Rovaan crafted your sword then you know it's reliable :)

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

@Frankie, I can see Rovaan looking up to Frankie in a big way. The fact that she doesn't let her disability impair her at all would be inspiring to him, and probably would motivate him to accept his own strange gifts.

@Molly, yeah that totally works! I feel like Molly and Rovann would have a kind of 'next door neighbour' vibe, I think they'll be great friends!

I have had very little to do with this campaign, and everything I have read about Numeria implies that the technology has been an awful influence on the natives.I thought we were supposed to build robot-hating savages haha :)

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

@Eska, Rovaan has no love for technology, he predominantly crafts weaponry and small trinkets. As an Oracle of Gorum, I imagine he would focus on making traditional weapons of war, and his background as a member of the Ghost Wolf tribe would further influence his belief that the robots in Numeria are a plague.

@Molly, Rovaan is desperate to make friends! His adolescent years were tougher than most, and a lot of the other teens probably ostracized him for his wierd behaviour. I can definitely see a friendship developing between our characters.

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

We do! That's awesome haha!

Rovaan may have had something to do with Eske, he spent a lot of time around the forges and if she was predominantly hauling their wares around they surely would have number into one another. Being a bit of a social outcast himself, Rovaan probably would have tried to befriend Eske even if his kindness fell on deaf ears.

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

Massive thanks to GM Wulfson for selecting me! I'm super stoked to be a part of this!

I agree Frankie; I haven't had a chance to look over the other players backgrounds but I think we should definitely work out how we all know each other.

Rovaan has a reputation for being a little strange (claiming he can talk to canines and hears spirits in the metal he works with) but he's a pretty likeable guy. I'll have a look over everyone else's characters in the next few hours and post my ideas.

@GM Wulfson, I've made a few adjustments to my character sheet, detailed in the spoiler below. Also, I've added a section in the alias for appearance, and personality.

Character Sheet changes:

Adjusted stats as follows.
-Lowered intelligence to 8
-Changed FCB from extra HP to extra skill point to offset lower int modifier
-Added 2 points to dexterity, increasing initiative, ranged attack rolls and reflex saves accordingly
-Adjusted skill modifiers to reflect lower intelligence modifier.
-Changed great fortitude feat to endurance

I made these changes to align more with my concept for Rovaan. I feel the trade off of intelligence for dexterity reflects the fact that his youth was spent in a tribal community, where book learning was not prevalent. The great fortitude feat was changed for endurance because I felt that was more fitting of an apprentice blacksmith. Long days at the forge would have required similar attributes described under the endurance feat, as opposed to great fortitude which I initially felt matched my idea however the more i look at it, I realize it's not quite what I was going for...

Please let me know if I've missed anything and I'll amend it accordingly. As far as this alias is concerned I have no more adjustments to make; please consider this my formal application to your campaign.

Harm's Way here, presenting my application for this campaign.

Rovaan is a Kellid Oracle with the Metal mystery. He is a capable support character, being able to handle himself on the front-line while providing healing, buffs and debuffs.

I'm still working on his backstory (I've included the draft in the alias but it needs to be proofread for spelling errors etc) along with a spoiler for appearance, personality and motivations but I believe everything else I've included is in order.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yeah, I was thinking something along the lines of 'Bones'. I like it, I think I'll go with that.

No unfortunately, I've never heard of MHI. What is it?

By the way, I'm working on a super cool nickname for Dorcas; He wants to fit in with Wyrmling, Tank and Manticore and ever since Threll dropped the idea of code names I've been more than a little excited. Code names! Just like the A-Team!

Hey guys, Harm's Way here with my character submission.

Dorcas is a slayer/necromancer who hails from a clandestine Cyran unit focused on combating Karrnathi undead soldiers. He excels in combat against undead, however his range of skills and arcane utility means that he can still perform well in a variety of scenarios.

I still need to complete his background, and purchase equipment but I should have that finished in the next day or so.

Congrats to all who made the cut!

Good luck everyone!

Hey guys, it's Harm's Way here piping in with my submission. Rune is a bloodrager with ties to the Shadowfell.

M Human (Kellid) Oracle 1 | HP 13/13 | AC 16 T 11 FF 15 | Fort +2 Ref +1 Will +2 | Initiative +1 | Perception +5|

'Gods help me,' Rune thought, entering the ante-chamber of the Emporium to find a rather large man emptying what seemed to be a thousand pockets. His head was still throbbing from a night spent drowning his sorrows at The Feral Dog, and no matter how many times he rubbed his bleary eyes his vision refused to clear.

'I just want an ale, he muttered, clenching the ticket he had won in a drunken gamble the night before tightly as he waited. He had never even been into the Emporium, and the idea of spending an evening indoors with good ale and beautiful women was more than enough to encourage him to be patient. He stood and watched the large man with indifference, hoping that the doorman would let him in soon.
