I can aid if you want, but it looks like Jisara has it covered.

When everyone is ready, Vitalis heads out and will talk to the group aside. "I recognize this key. Rexus had this key way back when we searched the livery. Could he really have been so preoccupied with deciphering the documents that he just thought of his mother now? I'm not accusing him of anything but I'm concerned. If he thought there was a chance that his mother was still alive, why would he wait weeks to announce this revelation? Any number of things could have happened in that time. If she is or was at this Many-Steps Monastery, I just hope that the delay is not costly."

"Maybe he thought we would be too preoccupied with the rebellion? Or he just didn't want to bring up his own personal issues?"

"You're right, though, it is odd. I doubt he would send us into a trap or anything but... I dunno."

I guess I could move it to my light mace, which is probably going to be my primary weapon.

I also apologize for not posting sooner, as Chance mentioned, I have some exams this week, so I'll be a bit more spotty than usual. I will do my best to keep up, though.

"What would the current regime get out of it, though? It would explain why they haven't been touched, but as far as we know, they're just doing random muggings of townsfolk, which, if the dottari wanted to, they could probably do on their own without too much difficulty, under the guise of 'taxes' or some nonsense. Unless they're doing something we don't know about, in which case, we have a bigger problem than just a bunch of bandits." He takes a sip of his coffee. "Chance sneaking in as a member is probably a good way of getting in there, and it could probably avoid a lot of bloodshed. As for the rest of us, have we heard of them taking hostages or anything? Other than that, I think our options would primarily be to sneak in. They don't exactly seem like the type of people who would respond well to diplomacy."

While Rigel seemed quite happy with the devil's demise a moment ago, as her words repeat in his mind and the beginnings of a theory begin to form, he seems more hesitant. "What 'eccentric fop'?"

I'm starting to wonder if maybe the contract is in the documents that Rexus is decoding? It certainly fits the description of "that eccentric fop wouldn't get away from it", and he's still a long way from finishing all of them. I might just be misunderstanding what the documents are supposed to be, though.
Another possibility is she's trying to trick us into destroying the documents by making us think it's her contract.

On the off chance he has enough time to throw together something simple with his Disguise Kit, although I'm assuming he probably doesn't:
He's wearing somewhat blander clothes than usual, and put on a bit of makeup to make him look a bit older and more tired-looking.

He holds the torch up. "Hopefully if I can find 'em, I can use the smoke to put 'em to sleep 'n get rid of 'em. Know it works on bees, why not wasps, eh?"

He wanders over to one of the crates and hops up, barely making a sound, and starts making his way from one crate to the other before realizing fully what he was doing. He looks down and taps one of the crates with his foot. "Any idea what's in these?" he asks the tengu.

This probably isn't going to work, but it's worth a shot.

At their response, Rigel begins to back away, trying to think of ideas. His foot hits a small box, causing him to stumble momentarily, but the jolt gives him an idea. Keep them talking. If I can stall them enough, that would give us time to think of an answer or an escape plan. "I don't know, why shouldn't they kill us?" he says to the group in common, perhaps somewhat more nonchalantly than he should have, before switching back to Varisian. As he talks, he shifts his weight a bit, and adopts a much less defensive posture and a much more cheerful attitude.

Varisian:
"Really, I don't think I know enough about why you're here to give you an answer. For all I know, the reasons why I think you shouldn't kill us are the same reasons why you think you should, so tell me: what are you all doing here? What brought you here? Maybe if I knew that, I would be able to give you a reason. Besides, if you are just going to kill us and take our stuff, it's not like telling us why is going to hurt, right?"

Rigel slowly puts his hands up to show he's not going to attack anymore, and, choosing his wording carefully, begins to speak. "Ni s-a spus ... cineva despre aceste tuneluri, care a spus că unul dintre prietenii ei a stat aici, dar că nu l-a mai văzut de ceva vreme și a auzit zgomote ciudate venind de aici. Am fost trimiși să investigăm. Nu căutăm o luptă, vrem doar să aflăm ce se întâmplă." He's obviously very tense as he says this, but he does his best to keep it out of his voice.

Varisian:
"We were told by... someone about these tunnels, who said that one of her friends had been staying here, but that she hadn't seen him in a while and she had heard weird noises coming from here. We were sent to investigate. We're not looking for a fight, we just want to find out what's going on."

I guess that's not as bat as it could have been.

I'm pretty sure Dr. Thatch, MD did the healing, so I think you're at 1, but I'm not sure.

"I'm pretty sure they can't stay the same!" Rigel shouts. He summons a magical shield and readies his dagger, watching the crates nearby for an attacker.

◆ Casting Shield. I figure if they get out of here alive, we'll have bigger problems than them maybe knowing my secret identity.

Dagger, enfeebled 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26, 1d4 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 - 1 = 1

Rigel, who had previously been doing his best to avoid directly antagonizing the beast, takes a deep breath and reaches out his glowing hand.

"I can try!" Rigel, standing very still, grasps his necklace and casts a spell, causing Vitalis to glow with a faint purple aura for a moment, causing him to be revitalized pun intended. The shield in front of Rigel also glows with a renewed entity.

As they enter the Wasp's Nest, Rigel looks around, waiting for the inhuman laughter that Laria described. When the lizard appears under his feet, he jumps backward a few feet with a yelp, and draws a dagger, preparing to swing at the beast if it attacks. He summons a magical shield in front of him.

As the halfling explains the situation, Rigel seems to become more and more focused and present, and when she finished, he enthusiastically declares, "Sign me the hell up!" before realizing what he said. "That was a poor choice of words."

In the coffee shop, the group is joined by an acrobat in a feathered cap, recognizable as Stargazer only by the slight twinkle in his eye.

As the hosts greet them so enthusiastically, Rigel is far too confused to say anything before he catches on to the ruse.

"Squassation? What is that, like, getting birds to squawk in your face for a while?" Rigel mutters to himself, fractions of a second before the crowd erupts in anger. Looking around, he realizes that some kind of conflict is inevitable, he starts making his way through the crowd, trying to get someplace he can avoid being seen. He eventually gets himself into a secluded alleyway (or whatever secluded location is available), where he takes a moment to catch his breath before opening his bag.

The fear and trepidation is clear on his face as he stares into the bag, before reaching in and pulling out the mask and cloak. He mutters reassurances to himself as he changes into his other outfit.

Changing to vigilante identity. Do I need to position myself on the map somewhere or move out of the alleyway?
