Sadly, my financial state is such that I finally have to cut back on my subscriptions. Please cancel (temporarily, I hope) the following:

Pathfinder Campaign Setting
Pathfinder Cards
Pathfinder Modules
Pathfinder Player Companion
And, regrettably
Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

The Exchange

Please cancel my Pathfinder Tales subscription.

I was paging through my new issue and flipped through the Holiday Guide, which I was planning to get back to later, and "Wait, what..." *turn back, turn back.*

Sure enough! Page 42... let that sink in a moment. Number 4 of 9, Pathfinder's Beginner Box, along with a short complementary blurb about the box and PFRPG as a whole.

More exposure to people who may not even know about the game yet!

How fawesome is that?

The Exchange

I just got home and discovered a small Paizo package in my mailbox!

These are very cool. The level of detail is pretty amazing, to be honest. From Kyra's cloak, to the actual mettalic looking breastplate that Valeros is wearing.

The skin tones are a bit to pale, but a simple wash should fix that right up. If I decide to actually use them vs. displaying them in the very nice display box they come in...

The Exchange

Anyone pick this up yet? Gamestop did a midnight release, but I'm getting too old for that s~#& (almost went though...). I'll be grabbing my pre-order on the way home tonight.

If this game is nearly as cool as the videos and such look it's gonna be a killer game!

The interior pages are printed in black ink, on 90 gsm matte art paper. The binding is thread sewn, square backed. Each book is individually shrink-wrapped, with the barcode stickered onto the wrapping so as to not mar the book cover.

This is going to look AWESOME on the shelf next to my 20th anniversary Red Sign edition.

The Exchange

Oh yeah. Just got home with the latest greatest survival horror. If it's anything like the first one, this is gonna be an awesome game.

...

Just waiting for the sun to go down.

The Exchange

Anyone playing? I just brought it home this afternoon. Like it so far. Takes a bit of getting used to the controls again.

The story picks up pretty much right at the end of ACII for both Desmond and Ezio. Which makes it kind of frustrating when Ezio loses all his gear. I mean, you know it has to happen, but it still sucks.

Journal of König Odegar
Bard, Half-orc, Adventurer

My time with the bandit tribe was not what one would call, 'mutually beneficial'. I was treated well enough. Most of them were afraid of me due to the milky white orb of my left eye, the tusks I inherited from my father, or my massive build, well muscled and towering over most humans. Or perhaps it is the combination of all these things. Either way, it is an attitude I actively encouraged. The rest respected the way I could inspire the men during a fight. The rhyme and rhythm of my warchants urging them on to victories not possible before I joined.

I could not, however, continue to ignore the slave trade they engaged in. Even my influence was not enough to change the minds of those who profited most. And the memory of the childhood years I spent in chains made it to uncomfortable for me to stay, watching the same fate forced on others. So, I gathered what was mine and took leave. Not giving the bandit lord time to consider what he was losing, for if he had time to think, he would surely have tried to stop me.

I passed through Oleg's trading post some weeks ago on my way to Restov. I had been thinking to seek my fortune in Brevoy. Had even started a good client base amongst the better tavern-owners. Then those damn local boys had to prove how tough they were by picking on the 'blind' Half-orc. Ha, they'll mend soon enough. I actually have to hand it to them, not many have the will to assault me. Even with my dead eye. But, a large, intimidating half-orc rarely inspires sympathy when he's still a stranger in town. After paying a considerable fine for damages to the market stalls, I found myself no longer welcome in some of the most lucrative establishments, they seemed to have no stage space for my performances.

So, after taking the best employment opportunity I could find, I now return to Oleg's with a commission from the Swordlords of Restov to explore, map and tame the wilderness known as the Greenbelt on behalf of the Dragonscale Throne. I'll be meeting others there. We'll be a regular 'company of adventurers'. Then we set out for the wilderness. Ah, hells. A soft, civilized existence never would have satisfied me anyway.

The party arrived at Oleg's in spurts.
König Odegar, Half-orc Bard
Senwick 'Fireaxe' Garess, Dwarf Ranger
Zhairiel Delruk Gildedshadow, Half-orc Paladin
Roach Sanderson, Human Fighter.

followed by:
Morvius Varalius, Human Summoner
Searos Droverdon, Human Sorcerer

and finally:
Shaggoz, Half-orc Druid with his cat companion, whom I assume has a name, though I do not know it.

As we sat to a fine stew served by Svetlana, the wife of the trader, both she and Oleg seemed nervous. Pressing for details I learned that they have been victimized by bandits, extorting protection fees from the couple. When we offered to meet the brigands with force, Oleg was very grateful and made offer of a generous reward. Although our new paladin friend encouraged us to take care of the problem as a favor. After some discussion, we agreed that it would be the right thing for all concerned.

The next morning, before dawn we prepared an ambush in hopes that they would be arriving soon and were not disappointed. As the thieves began to load some of Oleg's valuable good on pack horses, we struck. Even though most of us have been acquainted a mere day or two, we quickly worked together to dispatch the thieves. Their leader managed to get out of the open gate, along with most of the spooked horses, but the strange creature that the old man had summoned forth was able to chase him down and retrieve the corpse. One was saved, who had fallen to my enchantment of slumber and he gave us much information of the camp from which they came. We have agreed that if his information holds true, he will be set free. If it is false, he will join his fellows whom Oleg has set to decorate the outer walls of the old fort. A harsh judgment, but we face a difficult task if we are to bring civilization to this wild land.

We were able to recover all of the mounts that were brought in by the bandits, once they have been fed and fattened up a bit and cared for properly, they should bring a good price. We have agreed to pay Oleg a small commission to handle the sale of our spoils. Assuming he treats us fairly, as I am sure he will, we may be entering a long term relationship that will be lucrative for all involved.

The gear to be traded includes:
13 horses, light
7 riding saddles
6 pack saddles
6 leather armor
6 short swords
6 longbows
140 arrows

1 silver 'stag head' amulet 20gp (currently in König's possession, to be sold later)

~~~
Our prisoner told up that his leader had been named Happs, and that he in turn, answered to a woman called Kressle. Kressle's superior seems to be the 'Stag Lord' that is rumored to be a powerful bandit in the area. Though this may be superstition, as he is described as actually having the head of a stag. Unlikely, I think.
We were also told the location and basic layout of the bandits camp, this is where we head now. Fearing heavy snowfall, we at first stayed close to the outpost, exploring the terrain and getting to know it. The weather held so, when we broke camp the next morning we decided to head to the bandits before they sent someone to find out what happened to their fellows.
It is nearing dark now, and we are continuing on foot. The horses have been tied off and fed and if all is well we should return before midwatch and can trek back to Oleg's tomorrow.
Preparing to set off on foot, I chuckle once more at the writing on Zhairiel's armor, I recall the events of last night and think I should write them down. We were beset by odd events as we rested. Searos' boot laces were tied together as we shared a watch, and others swear they heard footsteps outside the camp, though no foot prints but ours were found this morning when we looked. I suspect these woods are 'haunted' by fey creatures. I left an offering of food as we broke camp, and declared our intent was not to harm the wood. I am fairly certain the pranks will remain light hearted and not turn hostile. I smile to myself again as I read the misspelled, 'Kik me' drawn on the paladin's back. I suppose someone should say something...
I just added Pathfinder Tales to my subscriptions, but don't want to wait several weeks to read Princes with Wolves. Could you please send it out now.
The Exchange
That an SKR original?
Priceless. :-)
I have a character whose whole build is built around the concept of Shield Slam. I had thought that the Shielded Fighter would be perfect for this build, but the feat has TWF as a prereq. Seems an odd oversight that there wasn't a caveat for this out into the archetype's abilities.
Was this a mistake or intentional?
Seems Guillermo del Toro is playing the tease. After letting us believe he was revealing his new project at ComicCon this week, the only thing he confirmed it that, Yes it will be a horror film. Filming is set to begin in May, so hopefully he will tell us all about the awesomeness that will be At the Mountains of Madness some months before that.
>>Linky<<
He did say he is writing/producing a reboot of Disney's Haunted Mansion. That's kinda cool.
The Exchange
Seriously, man. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.
It's because of things like this.
Closing a large section of park land to U.S. citizens, leaves it to drug and human traffickers.
This is expletive disgusting. Unless something is done, this shows that if you just up the violence enough, America will back down on it's own soil. Yeah, that's the image of a strong World Leading nation.
I weep for America that was.
Pigish Orcs and doglike Kobolds. I need some MONEY!
This came up in our Second Darkness campaign today... yesterday. My Wizard is a Universalist, and he carries the Staff of Dark Flame found early in the AP. At level 12 I have 3 slots of Metamagic Mastery and wanted to use 2 of them to Empower a Fireball cast via the Staff. Legal? Not Legal?
The DM made a quick call and allowed it to work, but I wanted to run it by everyone here and see what the consensus is.
Arguments:
Since the spell is cast at your caster level instead of the staffs and because the metamagic slots are consumed, I can see some logic to allowing it to work.
But at the same time, since the spell is not powered by your personal spell slots, I can see logic to not allowing it as well.
I am forced to accept the fact that I am not going to be able to afford to go myself. So, I have a Con + Banquet ticket available. :^(
I'd like to get my money back, but can be negotiated with.
Just received my recent order, very fast shipping by the way, thanks for that.
However... (Yeah, what would this section be without the howevers?)
The shipment only contained one of the two Gamemastery Combat Pads I ordered. I double checked the box and then triple checked it, I even dumped all the little annoying foam popcorn out and had to pick it up, and then I rechecked the paperwork. It's not hiding anywhere that I can see. Maybe the bugger jumped out of the box before it got sealed and is hiding in some dark corner of the shipping area?
So I finally found a local group to play Call of Cthulhu with and we met last night to roll up characters.
Every thing was going well as I rolled the general stats for the Private Investigator I was planning. Not as strong as I wanted and way more educated than I expected, but it was all fine. I can work with that. After getting my skills mostly situated it came time for everyone to roll for wealth.
I rolled a 10. Max roll. In a modern game that would be $500,000 a year. In the classic 1920s setting my yearly income is $20,000. Not exactly a working man's salary. I'm having a bit of trouble finding a motivation for this guy to be a PI. If anybody can come up with some suggestions I'd sure appreciate it.
I could also drop the PI bit and go with another profession, but I'm not sure if I want to do that.
The Exchange
I can find no reference to my March subscriptions. They are not in my subscriptions or orders.
I don't know if this is a problem with my recent change in payment method, I forgot to set the new method as 'default' and the old is no longer valid, but I don't think so because I never even got an email that the order was 'preparing to ship'.
Edit: From reading another thread it looks like this might be the case. The information is currently correct.
Haven't been able to access my PFS character page this evening. My regular alias pages are fine, but I was wanting to double check the factions of some new characters I made and registered last night. I keep getting a "You have made too many requests for the same page too quickly.
Please wait a minute before trying again." message.
Season Eight of the Jack Bauer Power Hour. Rumors say it could be the last season. Here's hoping it's a good one.
I earlier bought a PaizoCon three day pass and then made a separate order for the Banquet (before Gary got those ducks rowed properly). I'm not seeing the eTicket for the Banquet. The Con eTicket is there though. Wasn't 100% sure they should be separate or not...
I'm so looking forward to this film. I'm debating going to a free screening tonight, but that's not the point of this post. I belong to a facebook/meetup group that was planning on doing a Zombie Walk prior to seeing the film in a couple of weeks. Well, seems word got around and we're expecting a decent sized group to show.
The coolness really starts Yesterday when the group organizers were contacted by Sony Pictures. They asked if we could do a Zombie Walk to promote the film! Unfortunatly, due to the rushed nature of getting a Walk ready in just a couple of days, we aren't expecting a huge turnout, people already have plans and such. Sooo... Anybody in the area if you are interested, Check it out Rice Village Zombie Walk Saturday, Sept 26. 4pm - 5pm. Come, be a zombie. Or take pictures of some living dead. Or just show up for laughs and meet your favorite Undead Wolf. ;-)
Mrh?
... Hmmm.
Went and saw this at an early showing this morning. I thought it was pretty darn good. It had some slow spots (tavern scene OMG...zzz) but over all it was really good. Not a lot of gunfire for a Tarentino flick, other than a couple of big scenes, but lots of other gratuitous violence.
(Oh, and it's LONG. Not sure exactly how long, but previews started at 10:20 and I didn't walk out until well after 1pm so it's close to three hours.)
How are your FLGSs doing with the release?
Fat Ogre, my 'home' store had 10 copies. I bought the last of them for a friend about 4pm.
I'm not sure about the other 'big' locals; Nan's, Third Planet and Midnight Comics.
'It' being my 'getting ready to ship' email. Oh, blast. Only a matter of days now, I can hardly wait.
13 and counting.
Ok, now I'm freaking delusional, the afore mentioned missing posts are where they should be...
But I know that my posts from the PFRPG Launch Poster thread are still missing.
The Exchange
Hmmm...
Now, I am not by any strech of the imagination what anyone would call a fan of miniature wargames, but I do loves me some zombies.
I'd like to know more about the game, but I don't even know what questions to ask.
Anyone know if this is newbie friendly?
The Exchange
I am thinking of running a campaign using mostly 2nd edition Dungeon Magazine adventures from the first four years or so of the magazine. Has anyone had ant experience converting older edition modules to 3.5?
I'm looking for advice or pointers to keep me from making any horrible mistakes. (and make the process as painless as possible for me.)
I've also been looking for a setting to base it in. I could probably draw my own map, but the cosmology and politics are more than I care to spend time on. Suggestions are appreciated!
