Anyone pick this up yet? Gamestop did a midnight release, but I'm getting too old for that shit (almost went though...). I'll be grabbing my pre-order on the way home tonight.
If this game is nearly as cool as the videos and such look it's gonna be a killer game!

You might want to read some reviews first: Ars Technica's was not flattering at all.
But then, I guess it all depends on what you like.
[edit]whoops, just saw that you had pre-ordered it. Well, I hope you enjoy it more than they did...

There's one review.
Here's another from GamePro.
And Destructoid.
One from IGN.
CVG gives their own as well as links to a few more.
And G4tv.
So, get out more. Read more than one review. Unless you find that the ONE guy mirrors you tastes exactly. Not saying it's gonna be a perfect game, but AT is the only review that was overly negative. I'll take my chances.

I wouldnt call it a review. Ars Technica didnt really review anything here. Nothing on weapons at all (and this is a shooter), etc.
Just finished installing it and playing for about 30 min. I like it so far. I play it on a PC so manually saving every so often is natural to me.
The review is just to easy to destroy point by point and I dont really have the time or urge to do so.
Bottom Line.... If you like shooters and like ID software, the game doesnt disappoint. It looks and plays well, and the vehicles feel more responsive than in other games (like Borderlands for example).
Story-wise, It tosses you into the mix pretty abruptly. I like this personally, some may not. It's a shooter, so I dont expect much by way of story. Then again even Borderlands didnt have much story and they compare them alot.
The game is gorgeous too. :)

Point.Three, actually. And the one you spelled out. And the one behind that.
So, five points! ;-P
You'll do anything to get ahead, won't you?
:-PSo anyway. Having a blast with the game so far. The beginning mission areas are a bit close together, hopefully things spread out now that I have moved on to Wellspring. The shooting is fun and different, I have to say the whole scoping of the handgun is... strange? Holding a monocular in one hand and a pistol in the other, how does that work? But it's cool so whatever.
The vehicle controls work well. I am not big into driving games, so when a 'shooter' has overly complex car controls it's a major turn off for me. Not a problem here. After a few tests on the time track, I got things figured out and can drive pretty well now.
Anyway, time to go kill some shit.

There's an update (patch) on Steam for Rage. It brings more video options to the game's menu like VSync and Texture sizes to eliminate the texture refresh issues, tearing etc. Set Textures to large if you can handle it.
Game still runs silky smooth for me with vsync on and textures set to Large. :) I didnt have any of the severe issues some have reported beforehand with any textures during the beginning of the game, but with these new settings on it looks alot better.
My specs for the curious...
Core I7 2600K on an Asus P8P67 Deluxe
8gb Corsair RAM
Asus GTX460 TOP (280.26 drivers)
I havent messed with the GPU transcode option yet. IIRC, it's supposed to move all texture calculations to the vid card instead of CPU. It's pretty much suggested only for the Nvidia 500 series range of vid cards (and ATI equivalents) with 1.5GB+ dedicated video memory (my card only has 1GB).

I have a pretty outdated system, so I wasn't expecting spectacular optics. Game runs smoothly with small textures and AA set to a low level.
The story seems pretty shallow, but if you play an id game because of the story...well...
Fights are fun, most missions are quite short, pace ist fast. Not a game I would spend long nights with, but if I have an hour to kill it seems cool enough.
Yeah, the texture glitch is annoying as hell, the presented solutions so far didn't help a bit.

Just (finally) picked this game up for $10 at my local P/X.
Beautiful graphics, some fun weapons, interesting characters-- and it looks like it could take a little while to finish. Not as sandboxy as I like, and some movement restrictions are downright annoying. Nonetheless, my only real gripe is driving--it seems crazy-difficult, and I've simply given up entirely on the races or Stanley's third delivery job. In fact, I hate the driving.
Shooting, exploring, Sara, a Vault-Tec bobble head on the sheriff's desk, John Goodman rescuing me, and a Scatman Crothers-soundalike repairing my crappy dune buggy--pretty cool, lots of fun.
