Hey guys, wanted to offer all my apologies, but I will be bowing out of the game. I have been casting a very criticizing eye over all the games I am in, and this one unfortunately did not make the cut...
I think the cast of characters is very good, with great concepts, and very well adjusted to the game itself. GMMichael is a great DM in my book, and I enjoy the way in which the game is presented and narrated.
However... The pace does not work for me - between 5 players and DM, we had something like 40 posts in the past month (Thanksgiving I know, but still...), which I find is very low to keep the story flow moving in a way that will motivate me. The sparse posting also creates (in me) a bit of a disjointed feel. The posts feel like mostly unconnected, separate snapshots instead of a narrative, and I feel a lot of story elements and interactions are lost.
So thank you again for the invitation - I wish you all good luck with the continuation of the adventure, and hope we get other chances to play.

AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
Reknar slowly stops shivering, some of the feeling returning to his limbs.
I am assuming not even close to two hours have passed Rorgar. Perhaps 30mins? :/
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
Reknar will recover 1NL hp per hour Rorgar, so... I was planning at least 2 hours of rest.
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
Reknar rubs his hands, trying to stave off the cold.
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
Reknar is in the tent - he needs to rest at least one hour per hp so...
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
Reknar crawls into the tent for a rest.
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
I was purposefully giving time to everyone to chip in, as Reknar needs to catch his breath. He cannot participate in any of the actions above, except 1. At least until he rests for an hour I believe.
But I also think we are having some issues with the posting rate in this game?
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
Reknar is at 0 non-lethal HP, so... I have no more to post than what I did already.
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
Not disagreeing, was just contesting that Reknar would already be there while Barnaby was springing the trap, mostly because of your post here
GMMichael wrote: Barnaby is the first to reach the opposite edge of the clearing as the group decides to leave the doll alone.
The trail continues through a narrow pass, descendingsouth and east into an icy valley. An unusual pattern of lines is marked into the fresh snow covering the trail at the edge of the clearing.
But lets keep this moving - I have already posted in Gameplay.
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
Stunned, Reknar finds a nice spot, and sits down to rest - "Ok, I need a break from this" - he mumbles softly.
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
The way I see it from your post, Barnaby and Ant were only tracking when they got to the actual marks on the ground, which would have been way ahead of Reknar. And they only started moving with Stealth after that. But I guess GMMichael will tell, but it is fine either way. If Reknar gets hit, he will just take whatever time he needs to recover (if it is NL damage, he only needs about 10 hours to recover :D), and move himself on the marching order to the end of the group, as far away as possible from the trap springing Barnaby and his Ant. He prefers the doll :P
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
I could swear I had posted Reknar was looking at the symbols from afar... But didn't, so :P In any case, wouldn't Barnaby's tracking/scouting happen well before Reknar even got there?
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
Waiting on Barnaby, but once Reknar gets closer:
"What is that?" - he commented from beneath his cowl, when seeing the line patterns in the snow.
1d20 ⇒ 17
Not sure what may apply? Perception +6, Spellcraft +6?
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
"You and me both" - Reknar grumbles as they move along.
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
As the doll seems to ignore them, Reknar does the same and follows the others - "I feel like getting up there, but for some reason that comes across as tempting fate too much" - he comments - "We move along?"
To M3 I think?
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
Reknar moves in after Viktor, his eyes watching around for any further threats apart from the evident ones.
Not sure I fully understood your post GMMichael - did the hut just move? :D
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
Reknar will want to check out the doll.
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
People, just to let you all know I am traveling from tonight until Saturday for a small vacation. Should have access to wifi and whatnot, but probably not much time to post. So if you need to press on, feel free to bot me.
EDIT: Love the doll! :D

Rorgar Brewmaster wrote: I apologize for not being on. But I got hit hard by the flu. No criticizing here Rorgar, apologies if it came across like that. Speed recovery from the flu!
Barnaby Bastien Bridge wrote: Barnaby--and Ant are indeed built to be in the front line. This strange doll and chicken hut just unnerve them! Yep, dolls can be creepy.
But how cool is a creepy doll, huh?! :D
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
So... For the sake of keeping the game moving, I don't mind taking the initiative for this one and approaching the doll and the house, since Rorgar is probably busy IRL.
But FYI Reknar is not built as a tank, so this may not end well. So far I have been getting my ass handed to me in every encounter :P
@Barnaby: Any chance you and Ant could be in the frontline more? Ant has way more hp than any of us in the group, you have the highest AC, and you guys are built for melee so...
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
No worries at all GMMichael - RL first ;)
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
Receiving the report from Barnaby, Reknar raises an eyebrow - "A doll? A hut standing on chicken legs..? This I gotta see - we're going there aren't we?" - he turns and asks the others.
Side note - what are our options regarding healing? I took a look at the loot list and found no potions, it seems? :P
AC: 18 (FF:15/T:13) CMD:15 HP: 14/19 Saves - FO:4 RE:9 WL:5
”Agreed” - Reknar nodded - ”I can take first watch” - he added.

Reknar shook the splinters and bark pieces from his cloak - "Chunks of firewood indeed" - he growled in agreement with Rorgar - "Just not sure if these are aligned with our quarry, or not" - the half-orc nodded, looking ahead at the fallen tree - "Shall we press on?"
As they predictably move ahead, he nodded at Tegan - "I wonder if we should perhaps cover your captive's cage in a cloak or something..?"

"What are these? Does anyone know?" - Reknar grunts, drawing his rapier - "Not even sure if this will do anything against... A tree" - he adds, moving next to Rorgar.
Any knowledges we can roll here? Reknar only has Geography for now. Things will improve a lot starting next level, when he goes into Investigator ;)

"I am ok..." - the half-orc began to say, but stopped as the healing power washed over him again - "I... Thank you master dwarf. I owe you" - he grunts from behind his cowl.
"These have nothing of value" - he kicks the bones.

Reknar stands up with a groan, his lips frozen and cracked - "Thank you..." - he manages to say amid chittering teeth, nodding at Barnaby.

Hey Barnaby, if I survive, I want one of those slings!
Also if I survive, don't take personally the bad blood Reknar will have towards you, for running and hiding while he was taking a beating :P

Never really played an RPG in a Western setting...
I am sure there has to be a GURPS book for it though :D
And I would say it probably works well, since from my experience GURPS only 'breaks' when you start getting into games with a very high amount of points (350+) and then mixing and matching systems.
A Western setting seems like a pretty 'down to earth' kind of thing, and I think GURPS usually works quite well for those.

GMMichael wrote: I missed your post edit. sorry. yes you parried his attack. and did 6 damage from the riposte. DR5 bludgeon. Hes still up so youd take the cold damage at start of your turn...go ahead and post your turn. Crap, I was hoping for lower HPs on these :P
I thought about moving away, but since the cold damage happens at the start of the turn, there really is no way to avoid it, is there? If I move away, he chases, and at the beginning of my next turn, I will take the damage anyway.
Grimly accepting his fate, Reknar attacks again - "I will not die running away..." - he grunts to himself.
Rapier: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
