Sorry to see the game has collapsed while I was gone. (yet another (!) eye surgery)
I'd love to join any and all of you in the future now that I've got some vision back and can read fairly comfortably.

OK! Finally able to post again. Not going to post details here on a public board, but let's leave it at reduced vision after two eye surgeries and many weeks recuperating in a face-down position. I'm ready to deal with the new normal and rejoin the group. I'll spend some time reading the thread and see how this might work.

Ok, maybe this time it rises. I'm going to be afk until next Tuesday. I'll catch up with everything then.
Rawiya's whistle is the opening bars of "Warriors"
Then she lets loose an arrow from her longbow
"I will sing, then to build our courage and help our weapons strike true."
Eyeing the crossbow, Rawiya nods.
"Perhaps I should grab Naleth, and carry or drag her back here while the rest of you deal with the assassin. "I'll have my own bow ready should the thugs get through your line"
Well, now I can guess what the message was that Naleth wanted to get to Torch. Rawiya moves away from the window, and around a corner. Whispering softly she says, "I count only three of them, but one is that assassin." "I think we have two tasks: One person to grab Naleth, and the rest of us to engage the assassin and, secondarily, the thugs. "Is there a way to keep the thugs from following the person who is with Naleth?"
Rawiya nods. "Yes, that seems to be the best next step. I implore any of you who are willing to join us, to do so. We need your eyes and ears. Rawiya moves out the door with Theshen, and toward the gate closest to where Naleth is being held.
Rawiya notices the sidelong glances the children are giving each other. She sits on her heels to be at eye-level with them.
Her voice softens and takes on a conspiratorial tone as she leans closer to the halfling
"Could you work with us, just until we can find Naleth and get her out of their hands?"
Rawiyah looks at the battered and bruised children.
Did the people who took Naleth say anything while it was going on? Or afterwards?"

That's too bad. So thoughtful of them to let you know and not just fade away. I'm good with however you want to run it.
Sleazy guards, eh? I wonder how much it costs to get them to turn their heads? "Alright, that should get us started. "We need to apologize, though. We broke through the floor in that shack in Beggar's Alley. Perhaps we could try to help you mend it before we leave you here. "I hate to leave open access to these tunnels."
Took her outside the walls? Oh great, just where we didn't want to go "Did you see what building or tent they took her to? Even if you don't want to go with us, we can try to find her and bring her back to you."
Today was the (BIG) release of the Playtest for PF2 and the announcement of it at GenCon. They were making some site changes, adding a new forum, and preparing for massive download demands. It's been wonky because there's been a great deal of backend work going on.
Rawiya looks sternly at the child but does not move toward her. "We took no one." she says in a firm voice. "Do not confuse those who would help you with your enemies." Her face softens.
Rewiya looks at the girl, and impulsively decides to treat her as if she were Naleth "Stop right there, Naleth. We're here to provide assistance, not to attack."
"Left or right?"
"Shall we flip a coin? Heads left, tails right?"
Rawiya looks at each exit to see if she can see signs of recent activity.
After a moment she looks around for Shu-kri, then realizes that she has left the group.
A worried look crosses her face. "Did the assassins kidnap her?"
Rawiya stamps her feet to determine where the weakest spot is.
Down on her hands and knees, she pokes her dagger into various spots in the floor, trying to find a space to get leverage.
"Below us! Perhaps there is a tunnel here" Rawiya carefully searchs the floor. If she finds nothing she will look around the outside walls for a trapdoor or exterior entrance to a cellar.
Rawiya listens intently, trying to locate the source of the sound.
Does *anyone* have a Wisdom bonus above zero, or any ranks in Survival? I don't think we're able to follow tracks at this point.
Rawiya tries to follow the scuffed footprints down the alley.
"Do we have any other choice?" Rawiyah sighs.
Dusting the crumbs from her hands, she shrugs her backpack into place and turns back toward Beggar's Alley.
Rawiya now looks puzzled. "I saw no one injured or in danger. The place was empty"
Rawiya looks at Theshen with a puzzled expression. "That's where we just were. We followed the coffee vendor's map to Beggar's Alley"
After moving out of the dirty alley, Rawiya turns again toward the bazaar. Quietly she says, "Don't look back, but there was an archer on the roof of the shack across from that hut. I couldn't see her face clearly, but she did wear the same necklace pendant with the praying mantis inside." In a speaking voice that can be heard over the sounds of the market place she says, "It is time for a meal. Why don't we try to find something here in the bazaar and ask directions to the silk vendors.
So Naleth is a halfling. Rawiya steps between the two thugs, peering carefully around the alley and rooftops before moving out into the alley.
Keeping her bow ready, she walks in the direction of the main bazaar, intending to find Yehud's booth.
"Are you Naleth? Or do you know where we can find her?"
Theshen is right, it's time to prepare for the worst Rawiya draws her bow and nocks an arrow.
Rawiya pulls a piece of wool from her pouch and begins humming softly and moving her fingers. Everyone hears the bark of a pit bull, sounding as if he were next to her. "Stop where you are and let us out! Or I will send this dog out first!" she shouts.
Rawiya moves slowly through the alley, dawdling and looking around to give someone an easy chance to approach her.
Rawiya's eyes widen.
As she realizes what she just said, Rawiya's face looks even more startled.
After the woman moves out of sight, Rawiya turns to the group, keeping her voice low. "Perhaps if we wait here a few minutes, the activity will resume. I wonder what stilled it? What are we missing here? "In any event, if Naleth doesn't contact us soon, let's grab a bite to eat and then we can wander toward Yehud's shop. "
I do NOT wish to tell this woman where we are staying.
It is so tedious when those little electrons get all entangled .
You'd think the blasted woman would keep her voice lowered!
"I'm a little confused myself about where we are actually supposed to deliver the message. I was hoping that talking to the person sending it would clarify the situation." Rawiya looks around to see if she sees any movement, or any young woman who might be in hearing distance.
"I was told that the leader of the trading group 'One Hundred Fingers' had a message they wanted delivered." Rawiya squirms a bit and looks uncomfortable. Are we even supposed to know who they are? She looks over her shoulder, trying to find Asmani, but then returns her gaze to the woman.
"Thank you, no, effendi. We are here to collect a message. Simply couriers." Rawiya continues to be on heightened alert for pickpockets, large, strong people, and other threats.
Striking her hands to knock off the dust, Rawiya speaks politely "Thank you. I too hope this doesn't lead us into trouble. You have been most generous in your dealings with us. I will see you tomorrow for more coffee. " She stands up and walks out of the bazaar toward beggars Alley, turning her head from side-to-side to notice any unexpected movement.
Rawiya drags her fingers through the dust on the ground. "This is the bazaar. And we are here.'
"Can you show me where this Beggar's Alley might be?"
"Oh? Well, as usual, my information is not complete. Isn't that always the case with rumors?" "Nonetheless, I have been tasked with getting in touch with them. Is there some way to have a short conversation?"
Glancing at Asmani for backup, Rawiya smiles brightly. "Yes, yes. We have enjoyed the beans from yesterday so much. "But, dear friend, I have another request as well." Rawiya crouches beside the coffee vendor and says softly, "We have been asked to get in touch with someone from the trading group "Hundred Fingers". Do you know where we might seek such information?"
"Sure, sounds good to me." Rawiya looks less distressed after discovering their things are safe and Nenet will be back this evening. "The woman I talked to yesterday at the bazaar seems knowledgeable. I might ask her if she's heard anything about their disappearance. We could use some more coffee beans "She mentioned the same silk trader as the guard at the gate, Yehud. She also named someone else, who trades in finer things. "Does anyone else have any other suggestions of where to start? "I could probably make some quiet inquiries about the 'silk' trade, as well."
"Nenet? Where did she go? And were our goods that she was keeping secure? She said she'd meet us here!" Rawiya turns on the owner. "Where is your storeroom? Where are our things?!"
"Together, for certain. Why don't we return to the inn and discuss this in private. I say we start with the least risky tasks first, and finish with going outside the walls." Rawiya whispers quietly, while watching for eyes and ears upon them.
Rawiya looks at Sorkesh, stunned by his comment. "Make money!!! We'll be lucky if we get out of this with our hands still attached to our arms and our heads still attached to our bodies!" she hissed.
