I like the ACG version of Order of the Beast, but if you decide to do tripping and you can work with the awkward flavour then Order of the Seal would help.

Huh, my last (short lived) Cavalier was Order of the Seal. Honestly it wouldn't even be that awkward of flavor, really. Dragons are supposed to be extinct.

Do you know what the rest of the party is doing? Archery might not be a bad plan if you're the only ranged character.

Mooncursed Barbarian, Goblin Vitalist, Human Bolt Ace Gunslinger, and an undecided, so I'm not the only ranged character.

Second: you lose a lot of the cavalier abilities. You keep the challenge, the order (albeit with limited choices) and a bonus feat each 6 levels, otherwise you're basically the NPC warrior class.

Honestly losing Tactician is my biggest hangup and I might be negotiating with my DM to get it back. Luckily this is a homebrew game and my DM is more about having fun than playing by RAW so this is a feasible option. I can probably get at least one of the lost abilities back.

Also there is no limit on my order, we're basically throwing out all the "fluff" from the drake.

Third, if you're playing long enough to ride it from a low level, one build may be a problem

We're starting at 3rd level, no word on how far we're going to go (it pretty much depends on us really) but last game with this DM went from 1 to 16 and we're told this one will probably level a bit faster.

Alternately you might concentrate on the drake as scout and get it burrow or something, and use it as a flanking partner later until you could ride it. ACG Order of the Beast would let you buff it at level 8+. Obviously you'd be looking at some sort of melee build; be aware that any other melee characters in the party will be better than you and maybe try for a combat style which the others don't, maybe a combat maneuver.

Honestly it can't be worse than my laster character, an Eldritch Scion magus when I could not for the life of me remember I had spell combat. I am not proud. I'm prepared to be out-damaged so I'm definitely looking at combat maneuvers, maybe a reach weapon and focus on trip. Those kinds of ideas are why I'm here.

I can't fathom why someone would give up so many class abilities to have a crap thing that refuses to wear items, doesn't help you and you can't even ride until the game is basically over.

I'm notorious for taking the worse option because of fluff, honestly. And because I have a flexible GM who's willing to boost the terribleness of it, I don't have to take and Fly drake powers and he's boosted it's stats I just don't know what to yet. The only real "hangup" he's not re-doing is riding it at level 13, which I'm fine with because we'll probably reach that point and beyond in this campaign.

For plot reasons yes, I'm basically putting myself in a bad situation and trying to make the best of it 8D

I've never played a melee character so I'm trying something new with my next campaign (My DM is story focused more than optimization focused, what happens happens but he's not necessarily out to kill us) and since dragons are a big part of the (homebrew) setting and I've always wanted to play a Dragonrider I decided on the Drakerider Cavalier.

Now I know that they are not popular, and are overall seen as pretty weak. I do know that once I suggested that the drake was an abandoned mutant dragon egg, i.e. the mother left it for dead because it was genetically wrong instead of being a true-bred drake, he changed the drakes stats and seems to be basing his stat and flight progression on something else, but I don't know what and I don't want to ask because story. The changes are basically his stats are higher and I don't have to take the flight-related Drake Powers (I do still have to take mount powers if I want to ride him)

That said, I don't know how to go about building the rider at all. The only thing is that she is an Elven Drakerider Cavalier, so the question is how do you go about making the most of the Drakerider Cavalier?

Is the website down for anyone else or is it a problem on my end?

Technically her sheet isn't set in stone until I get to the table Thursday night. I was handed her level 1 sheet the DM already had and allowed to make some changes and level her up to 4 with the rest of the party. The only requirements were her knowing Spark and Color Spray, and being more Sorceress than martial class. Which basically means 3-1 ratio.

I'll definitely look into Resize Item, but can a permanency spell be dispelled at the owner's discretion? She's a child now but she'll grow up eventually and still keep the sword.

And google is not helping me find the Resizing quality, do you have a link to the information somewhere or a book/page number I can reference?

To make a long story short, my new character has obtained an Intelligent Longsword that's imbued with the soul of her aunt, which was my previous character. The sword was the Aunt's primary weapon before she died, so it's a longsword sized for a medium character.

The Niece that I'm now playing is an 11 year old girl, since the Young Characters rules didn't really make sense given her life up to this point, we're using essentially halfling rules in regards to stats, and she's sized Small. Which means the Longsword is the wrong size category and has to be wielded as a two-handed sword.

She's also Sorceress 3/Fighter 1 for classes. Clearly I'm not going for perfect optimization here.

This longsword is obviously important to her, and I'd like for her to be able to use it, but at level 4 she only has 10 strength, so wielding a two handed sword is less than ideal considering she has a +4 dex bonus.

Does anyone know a way I could go about applying her dex bonus to a two handed weapon?

I was actually considering archetyping her as a Lotus Geisha but was unsure how painful losing Bardic Knowledge or Well Versed would be.

I really appreciate all the answers here guys, I want a useful character but at the same time I don't know what is mechanically more useful in Society and don't want to metagame anything to find out >.o

So I decided I'm going to allow myself 3 starting PFS characters, I have a Halfling Magus, a Dwarf Huntress, and I'm about to finish We Be Goblins and apply that chronicle to my third character.

I have a couple ideas for a Bard, a Monk, and a Cavalier, and I was looking through the Bard information and ran into some confusion. My idea centers around a Bard who primarily dances and wields a bladed scarf, pretty and deadly that sort of thing, but looking through Bardic Performances that doesn't really feel like it would be mechanically feasible since it seems like a lot of them rely on audible components, so since I'm going to make her either Taldan or Varisian, though I haven't decided which yet, it would make since for her to take Oration as well. However it would seem Oration doesn't count as an audible component and doesn't work for countersong?

I'm new at this, I don't have a single character past level 1 that didn't start there, I've played Pathfinder both as Society and in General but not for very long. How mechanically feasible is my idea? Would it be any more or less feasible to multiclass her into Pathfinder Agent when I can?

And one last question just for newb sake, how does one get their first Wayfinder? Isn't every pathfinder supposed to have one or do we have to buy it?

The Paizo messageboard system keeps escaping me due to the lack of email updates and school mostly just made me lose track of how long it had been. Finals are over and I'm all clear now, I swear I'll be active through the rest of this module, but if the DM would prefer another course of action I understand. It was my own fault for miscalculating how much I could handle.

The pathfinders get busy pulling tomes of the shelves, scanning indices, making notes, and cross referencing various books. Tugo finds and interesting book with a large picture on each page and the words 'A is for apple...' or something similar. Fortunately the rest of the party has much better luck and with each passing minute the information starts to accumulate and half an hour later, a small pile of organized notes sits on a central table.

The investigator and the historian pull these five facts from the multitude of notes.

Emphasis mine, but unless I missed something in Feona's information, which is entirely possible, I believe Keia is the Historian mentioned. Like I said it's not game breaking, just a name mix up.

Might be a bit spotty for a few days here, the wind is terrible and keeps mucking up our internet connection, we've called Cox to do something about it but they haven't been very reassuring. And of course it does this when it's time to start writing research papers for college, so when the internet is working I'm trying to find sources.

Alright Sniggevert, I wasn't sure mostly 'cause it just seems weird to me for a character to go up a level and suddenly sprout wings they had no sign of before, but I understand that sometimes mechanics just have to take precedence for things to be properly fair. So I like to try for little signs of things that, with time (ie when the mechanics become available) develop into full fledged powers.

Also I'm thinking about 67 but it's not laid in stone yet XD

Right, my main question is whether or not I can replace Handle Animal and Survival with the Truespeaker alternate racial feature. Near as I can tell the Alternate Physical Features don't have any mechanical impact, so I can mostly do as I see fit with her physical appearance, so long as she's still a humanoid aasimar? Like feathery wings are cool, flight speeds are not?

Dyslexic Studios is very handy! And Myth-weavers is pretty similar to what I use over on RPGX so that is very handy! Thank you guys so much for the quick response. Pathfinder I'm pretty familiar with I think, but dipping into Society is a whole new box of worms.

Dallas-FortWorth area in six months, give or take. We've been trying to move down there for a year so take it with a grain of salt, but we have the insurance policy in the bank finally so it's unlikely to move too much anymore.

So I'm looking to get into Pathfinder Society Online Play, at least until I can move down to Texas and find more in-person tabletop stuff. I've found a game to sign up for and I have a character in mind and all kinds of fun things but I've run into one problem.

Anyone have any tips on building a character sheet? HeroLabs is out of the question, and I've been using RPGCrossing's character sheets for a year now but I don't think those are legal for Society Play? I've poked around but it doesn't look like anyone's made a fillable Pathfinder Society character sheet like Paizo offers for the inventory sheets.

Does anyone have any tips on how to proceed?
