Tashtal is a happy, positive half-orc, with a great mane of dreaded hair and a startling tattoo of branches and antlers that stretches from his sternum to his cheekbones. He has a great, booming laugh and a relentless good cheer. He wears his chainmail jauntily and leans on his axe at times. Enamored of wild places and caves, Tashtal dreams of going to Shoanti and Belkzen territories to preach the word of liberation and the faits of Erastil to orc, half-orc, and human alike; in the meantime, he is passionate and positive about improving the lot of half-orcs in Andoran, though he may butt heads with loggers in the frontier regions.

Many half-orcs have come to Andoran after being freed from slavery or persecution elsewhere; though they still suffer inequalities, small communities of half-orc freed peoples dot the wilder places of this country.
Tashtal was born into one such place as a 'pure' half-orc; he was raised by two half-orc parents in the enclave of Druma's Reach, one of many tiny half-orc hamlets in the foothills of the northern parts of the Five Kings Mountains. As a youth, Tashtal ran through the caving complexes used by Drumafolk to grow fungi and hone the senses of their orcish progenitors. Tashtal was brought up in the wilder ways of Erastil, as is the way in the frontierlands of Andoran, unlike the tamed, gardening city churchgoers. When he came of age he accepted the vows of healing in the name of Erastil and was ceremonially tattooed. Since then he has wandered the region, providing help and spreading good cheer.
