I am hoping there are people active on this forum that can help us please. My group are considering playing an Adventure Path on roll20 software, which is a cloud based VTT.

We are a private group and want to use the material within the AP - maps, images, handouts. Are we allowed to upload and share this copyright material just within our group for play in our AP run through?

I have searched these messageboards and got conflicting information, namely, everyone here seems to favour roll20 and is using it happily for play and I presume uploading the maps from the PFS mods. Paizo staff on the boards offer advice on how best to handle maps in VTTs and the FAQ for the Interactive maps state they 'may be very helpful to GMs who run games using virtual tabletop software.'

BUT...the CUP specifically states:

Paizo CUP wrote:

'You may not use artwork, including maps, that have not been published in the blog, although you may create your own interpretations of material presented in our artwork and maps, provided that your interpretations don't look substantially similar to our materials.'

We do not want to breach copyright, as this is a cloud based mechanism for sharing, nor do we want to have to use weasel words to get around this CUP wording. I think it is going to be about whether our use is private or shared on an open website but I cannot find that wording / interpretation sanctioned anywhere. So are left a bit confused and would be very grateful for any pointers in this direction please.

Cheers

[No spoilers please]

I organize a group, but am a player too, so it is difficult to know what is in the mods to better plan ahead.

Our plan is to get a set of slightly more Tian Xia flavoured PCs through 'First Steps', then use them to work through the Year 3 Ruby Phoenix / Tian Xia mods.

Does anyone have any advice on which to do in which order? Looking at the front cover pictures the ones with a red Ruby Phoenix badge start with 3-03 The Ghenett Manor Gauntlet but that seems to be set in Katapesh and continue with 3-04 The Kortos Envoy, which is set on Kortos; so, does that badge mean anything at all? 3-15, on the other hand, has no badge but is set in Minkai.

Also there are jumps in Tiering so we may need to fill in some gaps with other mods to bridge.

What would people recommend as a way through bearing in mind PCs will start at level 2.0?

Thanks

J

Over at the PathfinderWiki we are beginning to create a list of all the areas of Golarion canon where a Paizo employee has stated that the particular subject will always be a mystery and never revealed to the public. For instance, how exactly did Aroden die?

The embryonic page may be found here: Mysteries of Golarion.

We'd be grateful for help creating this page as this sort of material isn't usually found in Paizo's publications but, rather, on messageboards, in conference presentations or on podcasts.

Please add anything you have to the new wiki page, or append it here if you'd prefer; if you can give us a reference to where the statement was made, even better.

Best Regards,

I am DMing Carrion Crown currently and we want as a group to formulate 'rules' for dealing with character death in case it happens, so that we do not make hasty decisions at a potentially emotional or tired moment. Pretty much everything is agreed (I have pasted the rules at the bottom of this post for interest / use by others) as it comes from Paizo publications. However, there is one area about which I cannot find any guidelines in the Core Rulebook, Gamemastery Guide or on these messageboards and would appreciate some help please.

When a player chooses not to bring back their current PC in favour of adopting a new PC, should any XP penalties apply to the new PC or should the brand new PC take on the dead PC's XP total?

My gut reaction is there should be a penalty as choosing a new PC foregoes any financial penalties of casting / purchasing a raise dead or similar spell. Similarly, getting full XP can mean a more optimized PC in terms of feats, etc.

Quote:

CURRENT RULES FORMULATED

In the event of a death in the party, the following rules shall guide us:

* Any spell used to bring back a player shall be run as per the rules, including costs for spellcasting by a non-party member
* In the event a PC cannot be brought back from the dead, or in exceptional circumstances when the player wishes to adopt a new PC, the following shall be used to ensure death is not an easy route to wealth and XP:
** all the treasure of the dead PC will be forfeit except clear plot items; we shall assume that wealth is given to families, charities, paying for funeral, etc. (see Core Rulebook p403 for more guidance.)
** the new PC shall gain wealth according to the rules on Core Rulebook p400 and Table 12-4 on p399
** New PCs shall be built according to all the Character Creation rules
** When you all started you did not know each other and were thrown together through the common fact that the Professor knew you and trusted you. You had no choice in this and have now stuck together. A new arrival however, would realistically be vetted by the party for a number of reasons: what do they bring to the party? Do they fit the party ethic? Ad absurdam, would the PCs normally kill the PC, rather than adopt them in a completely unbelievable fashion?
*** This vetting should be performed sympathetically on all sides

Dear Paizo

Have you ever considered producing a customizable pdf format of the item cards that would mean the GM could print off exactly the item cards he needs for a game? This would be really useful especially if the high quality images you use could be simply manipulated to add text like '+2 holy longsword' on the card showing a longsword. That way any item could have its own card printed.

Moreover, items that are frequently found/bought like potions could be mass made.

Also coins could get printed in denominations and used as currency.

Thanks

Where oh where is the Pathfinder Wiki - I need my fix?

Is there a cheat sheet that shows what happens to a druid when wild shaping into various target forms?

e.g., 8th level druid turns into a specific large animal - a summary what stats and other things change due to Beast Shape; what to do with size; what abilities are gained etc etc.

This would be very useful

Thanks

Is there out there a spreadsheet or other form for tracking / calculating the stats of a druid's animal companion please?

Do I remember correctly that there is a bigger plot going on in addition to the actual missions?

These little jobettes our PCs are performing for their factions seem to be strange and unconnected - but is that the case?

Will we ever find out what our PCs more covert work has achieved?

With interest,

Has anyone discovered if there is a canon currency for Cheliax / Westcrown?

When a wizard levels does a familiar get extra feats and ability boosts as per Table 3-1 on p30?

I read this for HD advancement on p82:

'Hit Dice: For the purpose of effects related to number of
Hit Dice, use the master’s character level or the familiar’s
normal HD total, whichever is higher.'

What other 'effects' may need to be considered?

Many thanks for any guidance.

As we move into Season 1, may I request that future Chronicles have the heraldry of the country / area visited printed on them please?

As Paizo have now paid and commissioned this art work for the Campaign Setting, it would be good to see it and make the Chronicles that little bit more special.

Thanks for consideration,

Jason

Wanting to build my first Pathfinder PC and wondered if there was a character builder program like Hero Forge for Living Greyhawk available?

There is a Pathfinder version of HeroForge but I cannot see the Faction Feat options (Pathfinder Edition v 1.3) there to choose.

Thanks

Having just read the Gazetteer I am inspired by this new world of Golarion - thank you for an excellent source book.

The map included really helps to understand / bring alive the world we have been reading about for several months now too.

I have a few suggestions, if I may, for future maps which would be fun and possibly quite useful:

o Political: use of block colour to show the extent of each nation but also indicating, by similar colours, dominions and colonies, etc.

o Conflict: there was an old Greyhawk political map that showed bright red any areas that were at war / contended – that was very useful

o Alignment: using a separate colour for each of the nine alignments showing the leaning of the countries on the map

o Human influence: different colour for each human race

o Non-human influence: different colour for each race (orc, elf, dwarf, etc.) showing their influence across the map

Any more ideas?

Cheers

I would like to order this to keep complete my GamesMastery modules set but the cost to ship to the UK is over $6 cheapest, i.e., more than the product.

Simple question: can I just get this added to my next shipment of Pathfinder/GamesMastery?

Thanks

Quick question - it looks like the cost of 'nose numb' on p39 is missing from the table on p38 in the useful 'Feather and Fur' article.

Can you advise what it should be please?

One thing I thought I had was a random encounter table for the DL region but cannot now find it - is there one or am I misremembering?

There is info on what type of creature might be found in the DL / Cairn Hills region - if there isn't one, has someone out there created their own they'd be willing to share?

Cheers and thanks,

I seem to recall this was going to be updated regularly. I see the current version is still the original, though. I also note that there is a lot of AoW material in the magazine's download each month.

Is it safe to assume the Overload will not be updated as that sort of info is in the magazine downloads? Or should we expect an update(s)?

SPOILER ALERT:

I have finally started DMing an AOW campaign with a group of six players and they have got as far as the 3 wolves (not far but some great RP had by all as well as a solid bedding in to their characters in Diamond Lake).

What are the things I need to know to run this properly that are not in the magazines and overload?

I guess I am thinking of all the stuff that has disappeared off the bottom of this messageboard with hints, tips, errata, etc., that make the game go that little bit better without the Players moaning there's some error or discrepancy.

Cheers for all help offered

Right, I have added the thread and started it with the example.

It'd be great if people who have asked a question and got a reply from Paizo to please add the errata / suggestion into the main thread. Or if you see or know of one on the boards, to add it.

Many thanks to any who contribute.

First post - hello!

I usually play and DM in the Living Greyhawk environment but thought the new Age of Worms adventure path so good that it would be worth experiencing DMing in a less structured environment.

I have 5 players with new 1st level characters ready to go and am preparing the campaign now and very much looking forward to it.

One big difference I face is shopping and I'd appreciate some thoughts regarding making this easy and appropriate.

The Wormfood in Dragon 334 gives lots of hints and some new items and the original background to Diamond Lake sets up a few outlets. This is an excellent start but down to the nitty gritty...

How do people keep a track of which shop/venue has what product at what price (some invoke a mark up to items)?

How do people keep track of new items in a shop or of items the PCs have already sold to the 'shopkeeper'? For instance, if they have sold lots of longbows previously, do they get less reward for bringing in another 10 longbows to the same shop?

How do people incorporate items not from the PHB / DMG? For instance, there are many useful drink related and alchemist fire related items in the aforementioned Dragon 334 which would work very nicely in Diamond Lake.

I was thinking of setting up some sort of spreadsheet; but is that a sledgehammer to crack a nut, or does someone already have something similar I could 'borrow'?

There are guidelines about more expensive magic items being 'ordered' from Greyhawk. Do people recommend limiting what can be bought through that method or allowing PCs to be able to order whatever takes their fancy in the DMG? In character, how would a PC know that there is an item called a 'periapt of wisdom +x'?

Finally, on shopping, how do people find a mechanism to sell spell books? Do I just sell them as separate spells as a scroll? Is there a reference about doing this in the PHB / DMG?

That's probably enough for a first post but a little appendix of thanks to the creators of this adventure path and all of the extra bits that are been added to the core adventures is appropriate. I especially like the little addition of a Greyhawk 'conversion' section and would encourage its continuation.

Cheers
