I have spent a day with the PDF reading the 'rules' and coming up with a ton of questions and finding very little in the ways of easy and clear answers. At first I thought it because I am reading a PDF on my tablet because I am one of those who pre-ordered the book from Paizo (no delivery yet). So today I went out to my FLGS and bought the softcover version of the rules, because I really want to get into this game this weekend. Spent the last few hour reading the book trying to figure out what should be some basic answers and I am just frustrated with this book.

So in no particular order, here are some questions I was trying to resolve (Oh and I am not really seeking answers just highlighting that it has been gruelling trying to find anything to answer these):

What is with the uncommon weapon tables? What does uncommon martial weapons mean in the game? Final found the glossary listing of 'Uncommon'. Then was wondering why was this included anyway.

Looking at feats and spells, I noticed that some of them their 'Level' is shaded differently, what does the mean? Again, you need to look at 'Uncommon', which by the way is crazy because it an effect on Level and the listing of Level does not mention this.

Selecting skills, how do you do that? Can you select any skill? Wish I could find something that would say that is the case of course there is nothing that say you cannot either.

Feats that tell you to select another feat, really?

Multi-classing, the Basic feats say a level 1 or 2 of that class' feats. Where are the level 2 feats? I see Level 1 and I see Level 4.

Whats is the point of increasing a skill beyond 'Trained'? Does it provide a better bonus? Under character creation section it provides the full labels and then sends you off to the skills section for explanation only there isn't any. I get that it allows you to craft an item of that quality level but there seems too few skills that actual benefit from this skill increase.

Anyway, I just wanted to let Paizo know that as some one who has read way too many rule books over the decades, beginning with the Red Basic Box in the early 80's, that they really need to take a second look, and then a third look, and probably a fourth look at how the rules are presented, because this just left me hunting for answers that were not easily found and just raising the frustration level higher and higher. I want to play this game, not give up from frustration!

Hi,

I just got my latest shipment and my copy of Ruins of Azlant: City in the Deep's cover is not completely glued. The binding seems fine on the front but on the back it doesn't look to have any glue at all. It does not look like it was damaged in shipment just a glue issue when the cover was attached.

Is this just me or do others have a similar issue?

Hi,

Normally would do this in an email but not sure if you've gotten through that backlog yet and I sort of got caught off a bit with October subscription happen so soon.

I would like to end my Pathfinder Roleplaying Game subscription (just that one leave the rest).

Thanks,

J.

This situation has happened a couple times with different GMs. When involved in a chase the Chase segment asks for an Acrobatics check and I ask to use Agile Feet (from the Travel Domain) to automatically succeed and I have always been told that it is not allowed.

Each time I keep thinking this is a chase and Agile Feet seems, to me, to be the perfect ability to have in a chase. What is it about the Chase mechanic that makes the use of Agile Feet not possible?

So I apparently I just cannot understand how this works to add something from my sidecart to my monthly shipment.

I get an email and it says:

If you would like to add additional items to this order, go through the usual checkout process, and choose the option to ship the new items with the pending order # 2912019. If you don't see this option, your subscription order is past the point where we are able to add items to it...

Now I have tried this on two occasions right after I received the email and I have never seen that "ship the new items with the pending order #". So what am I missing here?

I was reviewing my emails and order history and things seem a bit confused. Has any of the Kickstarter rewards shipped yet (aside from access to the Thornkeep PDF)?

Hi,

Got my email for the PDFs and when I go to my download page I see links for the two items but then there is a note saying "but are not currently available for download". Any prediction when I will be able to download these items? Will you send out another email to remind us?

Thanks

Hi,

Perhaps I am only thinking about this because I work with computers, but if a spellcaster were to use an infected scroll to learn the spell contained on the scroll, does the Vanishing infection enter the caster's spell in their spellbook. So that any time they prepare that spell they risk contracting the Vanishing?

Is this too punitive? Should I just have them save with the use of the scroll and that is it or is the whole spell tainted and using it to learn from just transfers the Vanishing to the user's spell in their spellbook?

I am looking for thoughts from others who handled this in their campaigns.

Thanks.

Hi,

First, I received a package from you today, one of those stiff envelopes. So I thought it was the first part of my order - the Skull and Shackles Map Folio. Except it wasn't it was the Tempest Rising. Also no packing slip. So I checked the email that was sent.

Details form the email from June 11th wrote:

A package containing 1 item from Paizo Order #2088190

The following products are included in this shipment:
1 x Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Skull & Shackles Poster Map Folio Print Edition

Looking at the shipping label it is also dated June 11th.

I have not received the second part of the order yet, but I some how suspect that Map Folio is not in there.

Secondly, I pre-ordered The Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition and I would like it shipped along with everything else I am getting next month but I am unsure how to do that (or if it already is). I have pre-ordered other things (in the following months) and they show up with my subscription orders but not the Runelords. If you could look into that I would sure appreciate it.

Thanks

Where does the Vanara's climb bonus come from it is not stated in the stat block?
As far as I can tell its climb should be +5 not +13.

I have a player in my game who loves to take one or two skills per character that link directly to some background detail and not necessarily related to something for their class. This time it is Craft (painting) with the idea that his character can draw, sketch and create works of art.

So after looking over the skill description I am left wondering how Craft (painting) relates to the rules as provide. How does a die role reflect in the quality of the art item? What is the DC of say making a really great sketch of someone? What is the effect of making a masterwork painting?

Also the costs to me don't work as it is just canvas and paint, better paints and canvas isn't the same as making a weapon with special materials. Though I am not too concerned with that as I know the player won't abuse this as a money making scheme.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I was looking at the listings of various Spellbooks and noticed a few of them list 0-level spells like jolt*, penumbra*, drench*, breeze*, scoop*, and root*.

According to the paragraph before the listing that spells marked with * are to be found in Chapter 5 of this book.

None of these spells are in the book. Perhaps they were cut during editing to reclaim space? But I assume they do in fact exists and I hope to see them at some point in the future.

I was just getting ideas together for running the first AP and I was thinking of a vampire that might actually ally with the PC. Then it occurred to me I haven't read all the previews yet and there he was, Ramoska Arkminos.

Is the the same Ramoska Arkminos from AP #8?

From the write up it looks like we both had similar ideas.

I was just in the Pathfinder® / Pathfinder Modules / Pathfinder RPG and it seems everything there is duplicated (2 of each product). Instead of 15 products there are 30.

First noticed it at around 4pm EST Feb. 10, 2011.

I have been thinking of alternate versions of the 0-level arcane spell Ray of Frost but my creative side is failing on coming up for names for the spells.

The only thing that changes spell wise is the descriptor from cold to acid, electricity, fire and such.

Since this community is so fantastic I am hoping to use that collective creativity to solve this mental block I am experiencing.

So add all the spell names for alternate versions of Ray of Frost you guys and gals can think of...

To start things off, Blistering Ray [fire].

OK so I am sure no one actually missed me, but I was one of those who left Paizo for 4th Ed D&D. I stopped my subscriptions and wished Paizo well, but I was supporting 4E and couldn't afford to support 2 games. But I didn't completely turn away and when the Pathfinder RPG was released and the PDF was only $10, I was intrigued enough to pick it up to review. I liked what I read, in fact I liked it enough to want a hard copy and place an order with Amazon.ca. Of course they didn't have enough so I waited for the 2nd printing. All the while still playing 4E and growing more and more dissatisfied with it as the months went by. Don't get me wrong 4E is a great game but I grew up with AD&D in all of its versions and I found that with 4E the key things I really liked about D&D were muted or diminished.

Then my Pathfinder RPG book finally arrived and I devoured it. Then my gaming group wanted to try Pathfinder and so we did. Now they keep asking when is the next Pathfinder session and are no longer asking for 4E.

Today I renewed some of my subscriptions I had before I left and will add a few more soon (the next Adventure Path for one).

All I can say is I am back and things at Paizo have never looked better. Only thing that would be better is a significant sale (and I do mean significant) on PDFs so I can get fully caught up. It's a wish :)

See you on the boards...

Hi,

I was wondering when does a shipping change take effect?

My last order (for D0: Hollow's Last Hope) arrived folded in half and stuffed into my tiny mailbox. The Post Office was at best indifferent to my complaint pointing out that the cardboard envelope did not say "do not bend" upon it. Anyway, I decided to be safe and I would change my shipping address to my work address instead. In the mean time I had already received notice that my order for W1 was almost ready.

I have since changed my shipping address (2 days before I received my shipping notification) and now I received notification that my order for W1 has shipped... to my old shipping address!

So was I too late to change the shipping address or what?

Hi,

I went to my mail box today and found my recent order of D0 folded in half and stuffed into my little mailbox!! Not terribly pleased with that and I plan on complaining to the post office...

...But, cannot those cardboard shipping envelopes be stamped "Do Not Bend" to give the mail deliver a clue not to go folding and cramming my order into the tiny mailboxes at my apartment building?

I hope I am not alone among fellow gamers who like their product to arrive in pristine shape.

Hi,

I am just wondering if D0 Hollow's Last Hope module will be available for purchase at GENCON Indy next month. I am hoping to pick it up and not have to spend money on shipping (and risk shipping damage too).
