I'm happy to be contradicted by others, but as we know that the traps are nasty and deadly its probably worth moving at a slow pace allowing for due diligence and take 20'a unless we all of a sudden trigger a chain of events or something. Dealing with the traps we DO find will be a different matter of course...! :p

Assumption was the sniper had a vantage point he was shooting from, so that is the initial point of enquiry. Take an angle - to avoid just standing clearly at an entrance, and then begin sweeping deeper in.
