"Watch their damned fangs! Those things are highly poisonous," she calls out as she tries to find a suitable piece of rubble to fling at the farthest one from the group. Ranged attack
Perfect. Just wanted to be sure!
Question for Gladiola...are you using my shirtspear, or do you have one of your own? I remember passing it to you, but I wasn't sure if you have given it back. Please feel free to keep it, as you can do a ton more with it than me! I just wanted to be sure.
"How do we lure whatever is in there out here? We all heard it, and I'm not sure we want to be the ones that walk into whatever lair it has established?"
Rhade nodded. "I agree. Push forward. I'm not eating rats, and I'm not going to starve while we are trying to find those shape shifters. Let's clear this place out...there might be some hardtack hidden somewhere along the way.". She followed the others as they moved to the next room.
"Rats carry disease. I'd be scared to death of trying to properly harvest those things. We've got a bit of food, so maybe we can make it to the kitchen before the pangs get too bad for us," Rhade explained, determined to not have to eat a dire rat. The situation wasn't that and. Yet.
Rhade pauses, waiting to see if the rats were finished.
Rhade focuses and picks up an unattended bucket in the corner of the room with her mind. Straining, she flings it at the closest dire rat that wasn't involved in melee.
RTA
Sense motive Rhade nods in appreciation to the healing. "That's some better. Thanks for the healing touch," she calls out. As the group enters the room, Rhade also thought she saw something strange, a flickering light that quickly faded. "I saw the same thing. It looked like it was under a boiler. Would that be common for boilers like these?"
"Well, I guess we need to start checking every room, from closest to us to farthest away. I don't want something unknown sneaking up from behind us while we are searching. Any of you feel like being the door opener? I'm still half dead back here, so we need to proceed carefully.". She pulls her short spear and falls in line with the group.
Aw hell, I forgot. For some reason, I thought we'd killed it! Clearly we need to track that one down...
"How about just three of their heads? That'll be much easier to carry than full corpses. And if you go back on this deal, we will force our way in there and beat all of you senseless." She urns to the group. "As nasty as it sounds, we need to go back down to the cell and get the one we've already killed. That's one. Find a couple more, and we will have completed their task."
"I said, do you know this man," Rhade demands, not trusting Campre for a second. "Tell us if you don't, and we will put him down right here. He said your lot knew him. If he's lying, he might be a shapeshifter like that awful doctor was! Tell us what you know!"
Sounds good to me!
Take your time, DM. We will be ready when you are back.
"Um Campre, doesn't seem like they realize they are your people. Can you vouch for all of this lot? And the better question, is do all of you know this man," Rhade yelled to the barricaded group, pointing at Campre. She didn't know exactly who to believe or what was happening. All she knew was that her head was still killing her.
Rhade stands back and watches to see how the situation plays out. If these newcomers were more face changing monsters, the last thing the group needed was to be locked in with them. "How do we know you aren't the same type as that doctor?! I'm not going to let you lot feast on us like it did on everyone else!". Rhade didn't feel quite as brave as she let on.
Rhade scanned the scene. At least there was no pile of bodies up here!. She saw the door where the doctor and its lackey had fled. Rhade nodded in that direction. "Do we want to go hunting that doctor? It's wounded. If we let it heal, we might not get the chance to finish it we have now," she calls out, wanting more of the strange creature's blood to flow so that they'd all be safer.
Will Rhade fights through the nausea as she climbs the grisly pile of human flesh to the chute above.
Rhade passes Gladiola her short spear. "Keep them off us if they show back up. I feel naked without that spear!". She hoped she wouldn't need a weapon, ready to fall back on her strange mental abilities if needed. She again tried to avert her gaze from that awful pile of bodies laid out in front of her, while passing the weapon along.
Rhade tried to keep her wits about her, not easy when viewing the gruesome sight laid out in front of her. She fought back the rising sickness in her throats and took a deep breath. "That chute's the way out. Let's get out of here. One of you push me up and I'll check it out," Rhade volunteers, either showing bravery or wanting to get out of this awful room as soon as possible. Perhaps a bit of both.
Rhade fell in line. "Let's go then," she barked out, holding her short spear at the ready.
Rhade also dons the found gear. A good bit of it seemed quite familiar to her in a strange way. She listened intently to the tale the man told about the goingson at this place recently. "Linweigh, tell us more. What is Briarstone? Tell us more about these changes everyone underwent! Is there a reason our memories are gone? Is that part of the change," she barked out at him.
Rhade had a tough time looking directly at Ember. "You've got the right of it. There's something really weird happening here, though. When I woke up a few mi Utes ago, the last thing I remembered was killing you in my dreams," she told him. "It was really vivid!" As she spoke, she kept rubbing her head. He was right, she could use her mind to do things, but what had she used her talents for in the past? "Everyone, let's go! I mean now! I'm not waiting for that doctor to come back," she snaps, feeling uncomfortable with her thoughts and the conversation with Ember.
Rhade looked around at the others through half squinted eyes, still smarting from the vicious claw she took from the doctor creature. "I'm Pasiune, but people call me Rhade...I'm pretty sure. What have they done to our minds here? I can't re,ember anything right now!"
Rhade quickly looked in her bag, having no idea what actually might be contained therein. At seeing the two flasks, she greedily tore the stopper off one and chugged it down. CLW She felt her gashes begin to heal. She put the empty vial bag in the bag, hoping to find a use for it in the future. She turned to the woman who had used the keys. She could tell quickly that that one had no time for fools...perhaps they had something in common. She stretched and moved to listen to the man's answer.
"Get us out of this damn cage! We are sitting ducks in here, get us free so we can work together!"
Rhade opens her eyes, head throbbing from expending so much of the strange psychic energy she barely realized she could control, and from her extreme bloodloss. She looked around at the now open cell door. "Where did those two get off to? That crazy Doctor almost killed me! I owe it quite a debt now. Who are the rest of you," she adds almost as an afterthought. She wasn't sure who she was, but maybe the others had some light to shed on her own darkness.
No, DM. I wouldn't retcon it. It was my goofup. I forgot the enemy could strike at me through the bars. The fact that you didn't mention me by name shouldn't affect it, IMHO. I screwed up and the doc got me fair and square.
Stabilization check
The spoiler you asked me to look at in your last post doesn't mention me, DM, unless I'm looking at something wrong.
She had no choice. As she tore again and again at the doctor's mind, she felt more tired and more tired. She could only muster the strength to do this attack a couple more times. She had to keep hammering away, as long as she could. She felt panic and rage beginning to take over her thoughts as she cast another spell.
Rhade waits to see if the human could take down the strange doctor, as she again tris to focus her mind to damage the alien thoughts of the doctor creature. She wasn't sure what it was, but it didn't appear to be human.
Seeing the vicious claws the doctor creature had, Rhade instinctively took a step back from it. She knew this was the only chance she and the group had. The thoughts from her dream haunted her, as she saw Ember bleeding out on the nasty floor of the cell. All she could do was to reach out with her own mind and again try to rend the doctor's brain from the inside of its mind. Rhade thought of those very shears she had contemplated grabbing before, and framed a mental picture of them. She used her mind to jab out with her mental shears again at the doctor.
Knowing this is her chance, Rhade rushes forward, trying to aid Ember. She considered trying to grab the shears, but she was afraid she would take a vicious cut while trying to do so. No, she decided she would go for broke and try one of those abilities she told Ember about previously. She'd either die in his cage or kill this awful doctor and get out. The decision was easy. She focused her mind, reached out and attacked the mental faculties with all her might.
Rhade stands and pulls her two cell mates close together. "I see a key ring on the doctor. Woman, if you make her mad enough to approach, maybe our boy here can take those keys from her and we can get out of this box to make things a little more fair," she whispers to them. "And I think I can hurt her with my mind, whatever that's worth. I don't remember much else,but I can do things somehow. We can't just wait here like pigs to slaughter."
Rhade stared at Ember, delaying before taking his hand. That face! Where do I know...oh gods, she realized that she'd seen him in her dream, as she finally extended her shaking palm. She didn't remember anything about Either his or her background, but she remembered the grisly fate that happened to the man in her dream. She made a mental note to find out more about him, if they lived. "I think my name is Pas, Pas, uh. I think my name is Rhade. Are those mercenaries coming soon? We need them now, I'm afraid!". She leaned in closer. That doctor has a keyring on her. It might be to our cell doors," she whispered.
After your next post, I'm going to go ahead and make another post for Rhade..,probably in the morning.
The woman awoke with a start. Where am I? What's going on? Who am I? Everything seemed slightly out of focus. Her almost bald head hurt slightly, causing her to raise a hand and run it through her short, almost nonexistent blonde hair. She was in a terrible mood from a combination of the headache and the awful nightmare she had awoken from. The scene playing out in front of her was almost like she was watching a grisly performance, put on just her for her macabre pleasure. She tried to wrap her head around the scene. Looking around, she saw she was in a cell, but she had no idea why. There were two people with her that she recognized, but didn't actually know. There was nothing in the cell that appeared useful to helping them escape. As the sick Doctor tortured her patient, the prisoner turned toward the male who was overseeing the bloody scene. "Let us out of here! Or stop her. Or do something!"
I'll get something proper up this evening. Late night has me struggling this afternoon!
I'm on my phone all weekend, so i can't copy and paste. Spoiler: I ran from the cloud. I ran left. I ran downhill.
And I kept running. And I ran. Until I tired and I could run no longer. I attempted to fight off the man in tatters. I stabbed the creature though it turned out to be ember. I tried to apologize. I followed the bloody trail to ember's body. I approached ember's body and was killed by the imitator.
That works as a good timeframe for me, DM.
Ok, I advanced as far as I could in the story as far as I could tell!
Is everyone just about ready with their characters?
