No, DM. I wouldn't retcon it. It was my goofup. I forgot the enemy could strike at me through the bars. The fact that you didn't mention me by name shouldn't affect it, IMHO. I screwed up and the doc got me fair and square.
Hey, I'll be back home tomorrow night and I can get a post up then. Been a whirlwind trip meeting all of my girlfriend's family!
Might be able to get a post or two up before the new year. I did bring my "In Search of Sanity" book, so I am ready to move on whenever everyone else is.
I suggest everyone RP a bit in this room, get a sense of everyone else, revive those still down, see if you can find any goodies or hints for what may come next.

Unless anyone wants to rest or RP, I'll be moving forward into the Asylum either tonight or tomorrow evening.
If you notice, I've put Sanity counters in my alias header. I strongly suggest you read the rules for Sanity, but I'll put some key notes below.
- It is incredibly hard to recover from sanity damage. It is either very time intensive, or requires the use of (at minimum) lesser restoration. Even then, very hard to remove until late-game.
- Whenever you take Sanity Damage equal or above your Sanity Threshold (your highest mental score's current modifier) you receive a Madness.
- It is very difficult to shake off a madness, even one of the lesser variety. These will stick for a while, and if they accumulate, they will be very nasty.
Depending how this works out, we may adjust the system. Particularly with enough time and a good divine caster, you can use restoration to cure many of these madnesses, which is rather strange to think about as we still have this Asylum that was open up until about a week ago.
Later on, we can hopefully use my typical paladin trick of getting a bunch of level 1 pearls of power to spam lesser restorations if needed (it's only a first level spell on their list!).
Speaking of madnesses, I haven't looked into what the mechanical madnesses in Pathfinder are, but it would be cool if whatever madness Gladiola has just picked up could somehow relate flavor-wise to her gender dysphoria. Like she feels like her body hair is needles or something, just as an example off the top of my head.
If it won't spoil things with metagaming, please give a heads up if a saving throw is part of a sanity check. Ember can augment his saving throw using his mote of time ability. I would have used that on his earlier will roll if I had realized what was at stake.
Gladiola, you are making a strong case for me to not introduce that item ;) You'll have a paladin, a cleric, and a second cleric coming up as an NPC who you can become chummy with. You'll be fine for now, but I wouldn't be TOO surprised if you all leave the asylum with a madness or two.
@Ember, you are completely correct, and I'll be more considerate in the future for the sake of rerolls and other reactionary abilities. Your mote of time ability can be used after seeing the results of a roll, even though a bit delayed, I'll say you can still spend the mote should you want to in order to undo the trauma, steal those bad moments away, however you flavor it. 1 in 4 shot to shake it off, up to you.

Huh. For some reason, I have had it stuck in my head that pearls of power were only for arcane casters. But going in and reading the description, you are (of course) right. I don't know what made me think that... Again, still learning new things regularly with this group. Thanks!

I think I would like to use a mote of time to see if it can make the difference in the will roll.
So he still failed the roll. He tried to use the mote to steal away the memories of the climb, but there was too much trauma to remove.
Will be crazy when you eventually time-warp your way out of trauma and eldritch horrors.
We won't go too far, Rivas! There is a small RP section coming up, but you won't miss much and we won't reach the big NPC hub/combat before you get back. Have fun!
Hey everyone,
Been a bit busy with some job changes these past few weeks. Good changes, but ones that carry a lot of responsibilities and are burdening me in ways I've not yet been able to adjust to. With a bit of time, I think things should return to order, I'm just going to need that bit of time.
I'm going to instate a bit of hiatus here until late February. I'm dropping a PBP and a skype game, as I think I've been spread a bit too far out, but I really want to continue this series to its end. I have grand plans for these next six books, and I've already planned extra character events spanning the first four of them ;)
As of now, the only PBP game I'll be tending to will be our Wrath of the Righteous game as I get my life back on track. That said, in a couple weeks time, I should be more able to get this game back on tracks, and better able to devote my time to seeing this game through.
I'm going to have to dig deep into my horror/dread music reservoir to get us all back into the mood by then :) Thanks for sticking with me!

Hey everyone!
I talked to our benevolent GM, and he is allowing me to rebuild Gladiola a bit. Upon looking into the Inheritor Knight prestige class in Paths of the Righteous more closely, it's become clear to me that it's the best way to realize her character. I was really trying to not make another Iomedaean, but it's just too perfect haha.
I will be rebuilding her as a fighter who would then start taking levels in the prestige class at 6. She'll still be a sword-and-board tank. She'll get a bit more versatile in skills thanks to some advanced weapon training and advanced armor training stuff that'll come online in a few levels.
I'm working on getting her character sheet written up now. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Gladiola is all updated now! I tried to keep the changes at a minimum. The main difference is that I changed her campaign trait to Driven by Guilt instead of True Devotion.
Main Quest page updated, and Vaustin York has been given a character page.
Things should be good to go in the game now, I'll keep you all posted as to schedule changes.

Escaped! Not dead, but it still does have 18 lethal applied to it unless it's found a way to heal. Feel free to amend as needed, though I suppose you were knocked out during the fight ;)

You know, I'm not too sure myself, Ember. I've been saying it "Kam-Pree." Not quite sure, he was supposed to die (pretty explicit in the book) but you all did well distracting the doctor.

If anyone has any detect spells, please keep them active if you can. We don't know if these things radiate magic, but they might. Any kind of detect evil would probably light them up like a funeral pyre. If so, it wouldn't hurt to take a look at these folks by the barricade.

At this level, I should hope that we won't be fighting any doppelgangers that ping on detect evil. They would need at least 5 HD, or to be an antipaladin or a cleric of an evil god.
As someone who has played lots of paladins, I've had to become well aware of detect evil's limitations

Does Eponine understand her relationship with Desna, as one of her clerics? Or is the use of her abilities instinctive at this point?
@Eponine - I'd say at this point it is mostly instinctive, but you may have scattered memories of your symbol, traveling, prayer/meditation maybe. You couldn't recite verses or bring up stories about Desna, but you know her name, recognize her symbol, and know she supplies you divine power.

Just fyi, but all vermin are immune to mind-affecting spells. Those are basic type characteristics, which we would know from identifying them as dire rats.
Well crap
Starting a week-long vacation and heading to upstate New York this week - my posting here will be erratic at best until next Sunday. I'll probably sneak in a few quick updates as I can.

Sorry, but I haven't been able to post as soon as I thought I would. I've got a nasty sore throat and head cold that is taking a lot out of me and I haven't been able to get the energy to work on PBP. I'll try to get something up tomorrow.
I'm hoping to get posts up on Friday, once I've had a good night's rest and some breakfast. Feeling somewhat better, finally.
Something occurred to me today. How many day's growth of beard is on Ember and Rivas? This could give him (and everyone else) a certain sense of how long he has been a prisoner.
No worries Ember, glad that you're all right. I'm coming back from vacation now, so I should be able to get everything rolling properly come tomorrow.
@Ember/All : Very good question, one that I think someone in the party has been hinting at for a little bit of time. You've around a week of stubble, and the last time you ate was probably around that time as well.
Question for Gladiola...are you using my shirtspear, or do you have one of your own? I remember passing it to you, but I wasn't sure if you have given it back. Please feel free to keep it, as you can do a ton more with it than me! I just wanted to be sure.

Once again, I must beg patience as I go a while without posting. Should be the last week where this will be a problem. I hope I'll have something up no later than Friday. Then my schedule shifts back to 2 classes, Monday through Thursday, from about 8 to 3 PM. Should mean daily posts again.
