PbP Gameday XII (Event # 2713068), running Sep 4, 2023 - Nov 20, 2023. The game will likely start in earnest on or about Sep 11, 2023, due to a GM vacation.

If you're reading this, you should know what to do.
And if you're not reading this, may I suggest...?

This PbP Gameday XII session is dedicated to the memory of Silbeg, a good friend and a great GM/player. He is profoundly missed by those of us who knew him.

Recruitment for this table is closed.

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 3–6 (subtiers 3–4 and 5–6).

On an idyllic island of the western coast of Garund, the PCs arrive at the iruxi city of Ekkeshikaar. Seeking to establish new trade relations between the lizardfolk of Ekkeshikaar and the people of Vidrian, the Pathfinder Society must navigate a delicate political landscape while thwarting the efforts of nefarious forces who seek to stop the proposed alliance by any means necessary.

Welcome to my Play-by-Post!

I'm Thunderspirit, and I've been running games since the early 1980s. (Yes, I'm old, and yes, I've seen a lot of editions.) I started playing PFS back in Season 0, but didn't really "get into it" until the end of Season 3. I'm a Venture-Lieutenant in Chicago. If you're ever in the area, or you need help finding games/conventions there, PM or email me, and I'll endeavor to set something up if I can. :-)

Expectations for my play-by-post games:
----------------------------------------------
1) Real Life Comes First [tm]. This is a game, after all.

2) Try to post at least once daily. (If you're going to be gone for 24+ hours, try to give a heads up before you go. But that said: remember #1.)

3) Saving throws first. If you have a saving throw to make, have it be the first dice of the post, before you roll anything else. Also,
you can always preemptively roll Perception, Disable Device, etc. — this makes the game run more efficiently. I ask only that you make sure pogs are placed in their actual position in case your choices have, shall we say, consequences...

4) Animal companions, eidolons, phantoms, etc. For play-by-post, I have them go on the same initiative as their PC. (This is slightly different than what I do in face-to-face games.) When you post, play your PC first, then the pet.

5) Know your obscure rules. Most people know how the basics work, but if you have a character who uses something less than common, please know how it works (Handle Animal, Sunder, Grapple, etc.).

Please post in this thread with this format.
Player Name:
PC Name:
PFS#:
Faction:
Day Job: Feel free to roll now.
Notes: Anything I should know; passive abilities, boons that are way out there, etc. If you have abilities that are immediate actions that interrupt an enemy, I'll be as fair as possible, but you can help me out by telling me under what conditions you typically use it.

I do ask that the header for your PC have saves, initiative, and Perception modifier in them. (If you're not sure how, just ask and we'll lend a hand.)

That about covers it. Looking forward to the game!

Hello all!

Planning to begin this right after Gen Con, as I know at least one of my players will be in attendance.

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map |

You are making your way through the crowded streets of Absalom on a mundane mission, the sort that is usually issued to Pathfinder Society neophytes. But you all were hanging about the Grand Lodge on a warm midsummer morning; and if there's one thing Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin hates, it's idle Pathfinders.

He promptly sent you off to The Coins with, essentially, a grocery list for the evening repast. This isn't the sort of thing you expect to do at your experience level, and you made no bones about it. But Valsin simply waved his hand and sent you on your way, and that was the end of that discussion.

Among the throngs on the midday streets of Absalom, a gnarled beggar passes by. A copper for th' poor, good folk. A copper for th' poor! Here but for th' grace o' th' gods go ye! His grimy fist deftly slips a crinkled piece of paper into Bishop's palm before vanishing back into the swarm of longshoreman, merchants, stevedores, and other pedestrians.

Kn (local) DC 10:

The Saucy Wench is one of the few permanent structures in the Grand Bazaar in the Coins District of Absalom. It is a four-story mead hall of ill repute.

Kn (local) DC 15:

The Saucy Wench is also one of Osprey's favorite places to disseminate secretive orders from the Society to its member Pathfinders.

List formatting appears to work on the regular messageboards...

  • one

  • buckle my shoe

...but not on the event creation part of the site.

It's not an end-of-the-world deal-breaker, obviously; but I know they've worked there in the past cos I've used them, even though none of my events have them in it now. Just curious whether that was an unintended bug or an intended feature for that part.

Welcome!

All things being equal, I'd prefer to run this at 1-2 or 3-4, for the sake of continuity if someone wants to play all the scenarios sequentially. But it's open to 1-7, so if we wind up playing 6-7, so be it.

RACIAL
Briskwander Vesk You come from a line of vesk who were constantly on the move. Your Speed increases by 5 feet.

Ancestry Feats
Brutal Anatomy: You’re a natural predator trained to use part of your body as a weapon. When you select this feat, you gain one of the following unarmed attacks of your choice: claw, jaws, or tail. Each of these attacks is in the brawling weapon group.

A claw unarmed attack deals 1d6 slashing damage and has the agile, finesse, unarmed, and vesk traits.(L1)

General Feats
TBD (L3)

Class Feats
Mobile Aim (operative, traversal) You’re rarely still, and you’ve learned to reliably hit your targets even while moving. You Stride and then Aim with a gun you’re wielding. (L1)

Tactical Advance (flourish, operative, move, traversal) You dodge, roll, and weave out of danger, leaving no openings for attack as you move across the battlefield. Stride up to your Speed. This movement doesn’t trigger reactions. (L2)

Skill Feats
Barricade (general, manipulate) You hastily create a barricade using nearby items, junk, or debris. The barricade provides lesser cover for you and one other ally, though you can Take Cover to increase this benefit to standard cover. The barricade is flimsy and falls apart at the end of your next turn. (background bonus)

Combat Climber (general, skill) Your techniques allow you to fight as you climb. You’re not off-guard while Climbing and can Climb with a hand occupied. You must still use another hand and both legs to Climb. (specialization bonus)

Quick Jump (general, skill) You can use High Jump and Long Jump as a single action instead of 2 actions. If you do, you don’t perform the initial Stride (nor do you fail if you don’t Stride 10 feet). (L2)

BACKGROUND
Servant: You held a role of servitude, waiting on nobles and engendering their trust as one of the confidantes of the household. You might have walked away on good terms, or perhaps you know dangerous secrets about your former masters. Regardless, you’re adventuring for a change and finding that in this new role, the skills you’ve learned now serve you.

Choose two ability boosts. One must be to Dexterity or Charisma, and one is a free ability boost (Constitution).

You're trained in the Society skill, and the Labor Lore skill. You gain the Read Lips skill feat.

CLASS FEATURES
Rogue's Racket
Thief Nothing beats the thrill of taking something that belongs to someone else, especially if you can do so completely unnoticed. You might be a pickpocket working the streets, a cat burglar sneaking through windows and escaping via rooftops, or a safecracker breaking into carefully guarded vaults. You might even work as a consultant, testing clients’ defenses by trying to steal something precious.
When a fight breaks out, you prefer swift, lightweight weapons, and you strike where it hurts. When you attack with a finesse melee weapon, you can add your Dexterity modifier to damage rolls instead of your Strength modifier.
You are trained in Thievery.

Sneak Attack When your enemy can’t properly defend itself, you take advantage to deal extra damage. If you Strike a creature that has the flat-footed condition (page 620) with an agile or finesse melee weapon, an agile or finesse unarmed attack, or a ranged weapon attack, you deal an extra 1d6 precision damage. For a ranged attack with a thrown melee weapon, that weapon must also be agile or finesse.
As your rogue level increases, so does the number of damage dice for your sneak attack. Increase the number of dice by one at 5th, 11th, and 17th levels.

Surprise Attack You spring into combat faster than foes can react. On the first round of combat, if you roll Deception or Stealth for initiative, creatures that haven’t acted are flat-footed to you.

Deny Advantage As someone who takes advantage of others’ defenses, you are careful not to leave such openings yourself. You aren’t flat-footed to hidden, undetected, or flanking creatures of your level or lower, or creatures of your level or lower using surprise attack. However, they can still help their allies flank.
