2e is now a couple years old, and has been really spoiling us with Ancestry options so far - but what’s missing? Are there any obvious holes or 1e favorites you’re hurting for?

Rougaru. Also some kind of Gargoyle.

So do they let preteens play in PFS? Cuz that would make a lot of threads make more sense.

Don't be rude and childish like that.

Will any retroactive changes be coming down the line with the rules for large PCs? Like would a Gnoll with Giant Gnoll ancestry actually be large now? What happens with a Large sized Barbarian PC who has the Giant Instinct? Are they now using a even bigger weapon than large? If not, wouldn't they actually have no penalties for using a large weapon since it is in fact, normal for them?

DM is running Alkenstar. I was told they already had a beastkin and didn't want to double up. Shrug.

I think Oni Shogun talks about Pathfinder Society Scenario #4-14: Shattering Golden Chains which was released in may 2023.

I played it. IIRC the creatures are bound by magic and forced to act against their will.

Not exactly slaves, but rather a kind of mind control.

Of course its slavery of a sort. I mean even being something like a vampire spawn (to use BG 3) as Asatarion was, is slavery in a way.

I dont know if the adventure I did for 2e PFS was early or not. I played it like sometime last year I think? I don't think its that old...so there are adventures with slavery at the forefront?
I haven’t read every single scenario, so I don’t know for certain, but if you remember the title we can look it up. That said, the “no stories centering slavery” decision was a company-wide decision, so it is incredibly unlikely to be a recent story. Maybe a GM with familiar of an NPC’s past drew more attention to that fact than the story itself did?
The decision to no longer do slavery stories was made only a few years ago, so there were indeed some 2nd edition adventures that featured these themes (including the Age of Ashes Adventure Path).

PFS Society Scenario# 3-12: Fury's Toll had slavery. The genie binder Fasiel ibn Sazadin. He bound a genie and forced her to spoil the party. Its not the slavery of in chains and being beaten but its still slavery.

Slavery still exists in Golarion though doesn't it? I think I've seen references to it in some 2e books. I know some of the pathfinder society books even had adventures about it. There was one with some guy enslaving Geni/Djin and he was mad the Pathfinder society screwed up his big plans.

So cast undelete spell. The erasing of Drow seems rather lazy. "Oh it was some dude who lied"? Paizo is surely more creative than that!

So we got some confirmations of Drow and Wyvaran arriving somewhat in the future. Do you have any plans on making the bugbear an official ancestry?
I thought Drow were removed because its a D&D race and ORK/Paizo wants to avoid copyright stuff and OGL fiasco?
Drow are absolutely gone and aren't coming back.
Gone without inside reason?

How can you say there is no reason? Dude they are a D&D race through and through. Paizo wants to avoid WOTC/Hasbros frankly, scumbag tactics with the OGL stuff.

I think there will be some book with ninja and samurai added. Maybe not as a class but as a archtype?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Just curious how you submit questions to them?
Also I'd like Luis to give a opinion. Who is more powerful: Azlin Rex (D&D Ravenloft) OR Tar-Baphon?

But I said I wanted to do the things the 1ST ED class could do, so its not based on some pop culture nebulous idea. Its based on a class pathfinder already had.

Just had to be that person. ;-)

Not really. Ninja, or something like that existed. What they were is up for debate usually.

It makes sense if people aren't as interested in that and samurai is more than just a fighter its a social class for one thing, just like a ninja isn't really a rogue. And who says just because Ninja and Samurai are made classes or even a archtype that it means other cultures will be excluded? It doesn't. Paizo is not WOTC that way. Ninja and Samurai aren't entirely "tied to one earth nation" either if that's just the name but they fill a sort of role or abilities, ext. Monks aren't always asian style martial arts for example.

Any advice on how to do this? People say "wait for Tian Xia" but there's been no news on classes like Ninja or Samurai being in the book?

This looks awesome, will check it out
Heart has playable Gnolls! :D

So does Eberron and Pathfinder 2E has playable Gnolls...Mwangi Expanse?

I think there should still be some form of alignment but perhaps more like Nature/Demeanor that World of Darkness used to have? Also, might this just just bring in a lot of jerk players trying to live out their antisocial murder fantasies because 'well there is no alignment now'?

Its storyteller fiat dude, how do you not know this? He gets nothing special. And he did NOT do it alone. What about all those other NPC guys out there flying around and dying? Han saved his butt too from vader killing him.

I take it Starfinder will have adventure paths? I loved the pathfinder ones. You know I could see skull and shackles maybe working in space with some adjustments. Space Pirates and all that.

Can you do Star Wars with Starfinder? Cause I feel the new Star Wars RPG is not very good.

So will there be tiefling, assimar and such or no? For that matter will there even be celestial beings like demons, angels, ect?

It says specifically you CAN be a asian themed PC right in the players guide though and that you dont really even have to be asian to be a ninja or samurai so much. It says they are rare but NOT unheard of enough that a PC couldn't be such a class..

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Well if I did it myself I wouldn't have "reserved" PCs and you could certainly be asian themed. Ameiko isnt the only asian family to have come over, the AP says that right in the players guide. I don't own the full AP though nor do I even own the 1st bestiary yet.

So what are the Chelaxian names?
And I take some of the 4th ed naming conventions for Tiefling, where they sometimes have names of a concept like "Carrion" "Morose" "Scoundrel". I made a Tiefling Paladin in 4th ed called "Penitent". I thought that was a damn cool name for such a race class combo.

I want a FULL sourcebook on the Dragon Empires. The piddly litte Gazateer and Primer are not enough. Give us a full book on it please, with info on major NPCs, heros villians, cities and such.

Wrong. It is indeed 5th edition.

remove the part about them not being raisable/not having souls
This is the biggest issue with a friend of mine in my gaming group. He REALLY loves the concept behind Warforged, but hates that anything even partially considered a Construct doesn't have a soul and can't be raised.

But that is UTTERLY wrong. Warforged can indeed be raised and they do have souls. Says so right in Eberron. They are living construct subtype and can indeed be raised.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Has this been done already? I was told they are in Midguard setting? With all the other races powered up I dunno if Warforged really need any changes at all do they?

Also, Tian Xia talks about it having these clockwork humanoid soldiers or something and also with the teracotta soldiers would Warforged possibly fit as a rare but playable race?
