"Nothing that I can make sense of. Someone that studied the old stories might be able to decipher these engravings, but I have no idea what they mean." Nevaal stands up after inspecting the stones and looks at the main door of the barn. "What do you think, guys? Shall we go in?"
Male Human Raised Half-Elf Brawler
"Carved stones. Sounds like some sort of magic to me. I don't know much about magic, but I know enough not to mess with it." Nevaal crosses his arms and ponders for a moment. "Unfortunately in this situation we may need to take a look at those stones and that barn to get to the bottom of this mystery. Linkon may or may not be the witch we are hunting, but he is involved in some magic."
Male Human Raised Half-Elf Brawler
"That's very kind of you. Is there anything special about the barn that would cause it to be unaffected? Maybe there's some history behind the barn?" Nevaal was confused and unable to understand why the barn would be spared but he was convinced that there was some significance in it. Either Siri was clever enough to set an elaborate trap to frame Linkon, or there was something else going on with the barn.

If Linkon's wife was teaching Siri how to sew and cook then I doubt that they would have a maid. This young girl seems very suspicious. Nevaal thinks to himself and his muscles tighten as a feeling of unease washes up his spine. Sense Motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1

Nevaal looks around at the black ground and frowns. "It's as if someone has salted the earth here. No crops can grow on this blackened ground." As he nears Linkon's house, he slows down and smells the fresh scent of bread. "Well I think it's safe to assume that she is home."
Male Human Raised Half-Elf Brawler
"That sounds like a good plan, Terwyn. Lead the way." As Nevaal continues to walk he takes a look up at the sky to estimate the time. "Sundown, we can make it back by sundown, but I suspect the witch will be most active when the rest of the town has locked themselves up in their home." About what time is it in game?
Male Human Raised Half-Elf Brawler
"Easy enough to find some standing stones in either case, eh Grognak?", Nevaal dismissed the possibility of a trap laid by Linkon and begins to walk out of the room. "We should find Fredrick and make our way towards the stones. If Siri's house is along the way we might be able to make a quick stop to ask some questions."
Male Human Raised Half-Elf Brawler
"Really easy don't you think? If they had already seen Linkon up there, they might be better prepared for other unwanted visitors. Best to keep our wits about us and prepare for a trap just in case." Sense Motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19

"We have seen the effects of the blight. We saw what it had done to one farmer's crops on our passage into town. Even so, the evidence does not point us in the direction of a witch. As of now our strongest connection to a witch, if there is one, would be through Siri."

"You lucky man!" Nevaal laughed out loud. Though his amusement was quickly cut short by the disapproving looks of the others. "I mean, you should be ashamed of yourself. *cough* Quickly adopting a serious demeanor, Nevaal continued the questioning. "So the children are the ones causing the trouble. It makes sense after speaking with that Siri girl. Any idea how we can expose them to the rest of the townsfolk?"

"Whatever Wells is, I agree with Grognak. We should try talking to this he-witch or sorcerer or whatever. That is, if he hasn't been hung already.", Nevaal rubs his neck for the thought of the townsfolk wanting to hang him and the other Wardens under the accusation of working with witches made his neck itch.
Male Human Raised Half-Elf Brawler
"Spoiled brat indeed.", Nevaal agreed with Grognak. He dropped his arms to his sides and sighed. "The poor maid just pissed off the wrong little girl. I agree with Dariel though, the family may be a good place to start. There was something in the way that she told us the details of her curse. I'm not sure, but I feel as if she's been practicing that story. I've dealt with bratty high-borns before and they always seem to have a way with bending the truth."

I would like to have my mask constantly on please, if the Wardens will allow it. It is a habit my character has grown up with and his trinket and hood are always on unless he feels comfortable enough to reveal his features openly or the situation does not allow him to wear his mask and hood.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20 0_0... I don't know if my dice roll is broken or what but I was fully expecting to fail that check "Trapped in your body for a week and your family was left well enough to attend to you? That does not sound like the motives of a heinous witch." Nevaal challenged the young girl. "I would expect something around the lines of you writhing in pain, vomiting up bugs, or constantly passing gas. A may not know much about witches, but they would do much worse than leave you unharmed and trapped in YOUR own body." Nevaal stands up straight and crosses his arms across his chest. "Tell me little one, what does a young girl like you do to anger a witch so and how did she cast her magics upon you?"
Male Human Raised Half-Elf Brawler
"Well, she didn't have green skin or a crooked nose, but she wasn't extremely beautiful either. She doesn't fit either description of a witch that I am familiar with, but then again, I'm not very familiar with them either." he whispers back to Grognak before walking any further towards the manor. "They are definitely out for blood alright, and I don't think they care whose blood is spilled as long as there is someone to blame.", he shakes his head as he watches the man being escorted away from the Manor. That one was not very good looking either, Nevaal thought to himself. After Siri introduces herself, Nevaal gives a shallow bow before addressing. "Well met, Siri. Please, tell us more about your affliction. Any details might help."
Male Human Raised Half-Elf Brawler
"Evil indeed. Any who play with the like of elves and their magic only bring disaster to the world."[/b} he nods to Fredrick, "I may not understand the difference between the two creatures, but it is of little importance. Lead the way, and I will follow."[/b] I will follow right behind Fredrick, unless someone else wants to be closer to the front

"Despicable creatures!", Nevaal spits as Dariel finishes his story. "This may be a difficult task, and rightfully so, but it's good to know we have someone that has dealt with this kind before". He turns to face Frederick, "A hag? Isn't that just another name for a witch? I thought they were one in the same..." I can stand closer to the front since I am primarily a melee character. Nevaal is no good with a bow.

Nevaal is taken aback by the sudden appearance of Dariel's companion. He quickly rights himself and readjusts his hood. "That's an interesting friend that you have there, Dariel.", he says with a smile as he steps up to introduce himself. "I am Nevaal Kopile. I am eager to serve with all of you, and even more eager to put some witches into their graves."

Nevaal grew up in the slums of Greyvault with his mother. He has a long history of getting in trouble with the human kids who made fun of his half elven appearance. He doesn't like to talk about his father, and often deflects the topic towards lighter conversation. He is commonly found within a group, making obscene and inappropriate jokes with the rest of the men, but shows obvious disapproval any time the topic of elves or magic comes about. When he joined the watch he was given armor and a sword, both of which felt foreign to him. He works hard to match the fighting skills of his allies, but his skill with weapons are nowhere close. Nevaal feels much more comfortable fighting with his bare hands the way he did in the streets of Greyvault, and is willing to show anyone his prowess at hand to hand combat. |
