![]() As Nehyril picks his way through the brush to inch closer to the water, his eyes widen in shock as the Varisian's...whatever, vanishes from sight under a single blow. Hells! That thing was one of our heavy hitters. Definitely best to keep out of reach then. Once again smiling inwardly at the wisdom of his particualr speciailization, Neyril shoots off a third arrow as he breaks through the undergrowth. ![]() Nehyril advances out of the cavern and blinks as his eyes adjust to the brighter light of day. Seven of them, one minotaur? Good. Vast difference between Janira and reinforcements? Not good. Nehyril grits his teeth as he moves closer to the river. As he approaches, he lets loose an arrow from his bow. At least he might help provide the bard a nice distraction. Arrow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 (+5 normal,+1 inspire courage, -2 for just outside of range increment) for damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 ![]()

Then, hearing his colleagues at he lead of the train call for a hot, the half-elf peers forward and glimpses thee semi-transparent edges of he Ozzie creature ahead. He frowns. The cramped corridors leave no room to maneuver, much less get a clear shot. Desperate for a clear path, Nehyril ducks down the tunnel to the right and advances, pausing at the first opening to lie in wait. [ooc] Last day away, so still can't move my piece. Nehyril will move five squares along the southern cave passage to stop where the passage splits. He'll then wait to see if the ooze advances forward so that he can fire an arrow at it (it'll still have cover, but in these quarters it's the best he can see :) ) Know nature: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 ![]()

Survival check to see if any signs of tracks leading down one or the other: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 "Well, better to get moving somewhere at least. We are supposed to map this place after all." Nehyril will start down the path he sees any signs of life in. If no signs (or low Survival check would give wrong result), he heads down a random one. He is not much for rituals on the best of occasions, much less to honor those not strong enough to endure. Eyeing the centipedes roaming the room carefully, Nehyril instead speaks out towards the gillman being ignored nearby. "Not to interrupt you Uori, but you mentionned turmoil in these caves, and others who aren't particularly friendly. Are there things we should be concerned about living in these caverns? He also strides up to one of the glowing moss to examine it. Nehyril will just walk a short way away from the rest of the group, staying within sight of them. ![]() "The magic bits? Not a clue" Nehyril picks up a tangleroot bag and tosses it gently in the air before catching it. "But I've gotten plenty of practice with the rest before. Could definitely come in handy..." Nehyril stows the clutched tangleroot bag in a pocket, and pickss up one of the alchemist fires to join it. He then looks around to get the lay of the cavern, trying to see where exactly they've fled to. Mostly trying to find out the size/width of these caves. Is it one large cavern at the entrance, or can we mostly see a winding passage? Let me know if a perception check would be needed. Also, if the caves are dark (as I'd assume), Nehyril will light a torch. Low-light vision time! ![]()

![]() Nehyril stands stunned for a moment. He had trained to be prepared for things like this, and even faced a few monstrous beasts before himself. But the it is one thing to brace oneself for the idea a hulking brute like the minotaur before them; it is another to face one in person. But then the moment passes, and Nehyril snaps back into focus. "R-right, the caverns," he confirms. Resolve seeps back into his voice as he continues. "Move quick, stay quiet." Nehyril barks through gritted teeth at his fellows. "Tori, are you any good with your god's glaive? Once you get inside the caves set the point towards the entrance; if that thing doesn't take Janira's bait it might come charging after us and every extra hit may count." For his own part Nehyril hustles into the cliff face's cracked entrance raising his bow as he moves. Once inside a ways, he cocks an arrow expectantly behind him towards the entrance, pointed ears trying to hear what's occuring in the clearing. ![]()

A mixture of relief and disappointment breifly flits accross his face before the half-elf shake it off and moves back towards Janira. "Anyone get bit by one of those things?" Nehyril scans their surroundings warily, his weapon still slightly drawn. "Two beasts against a party this side would imply these two were either stupid, starving, or desperate. Either way, we should keep our guard up. Janira, how far past the rocks are these caves?" ![]()
