Mordechai looks over at the crusader and grimaces.

"What stays your hand crusader? Your kind did not balk on the hill of Ayyadieh, outside Acre!"

The jewish mystic watches the man closely for his reaction.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai targets the goblin with his sleep spell, hoping to catch the other goblins in the spell as well.

5d8 ⇒ (3, 6, 8, 3, 7) = 27 hp of goblins put to sleep

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai come up behind the rest of the party. He mutters a few words and a layer of force appears around his body.

Casts mage armour

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai shakes his head and mutters something in hebrew under his breath, but otherwise does not comment. He does motion down the corridor as if to as, 'Are we going?'.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai notices the goblins and steps back out of the way of the warriors, knowing that the crusader will want to slay the little devils as soon as he sees them. He brings to mind a cantrip which will create a bolt of fire which he can shoot at one of the creatures, if that becomes necessary.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

just waiting to see what happens now we have conked out the guards....

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai helps the half-elf search the two bound and gagged goblins.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Same here...but I should be getting it the same day it is released..so who knows....but like you I cannot wait to read it!

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai nods and moves towards the two goblin guards. With a mumble of strange words and a few hand gestures, he casts his spell of slumber upon the 2 creatures.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

"Perhaps brute strength is not needed here, but rather a lighter touch, yes? I have an enchantment of sleep which I can weave over those two creatures and knock them out. Then you can go forward and dispatch them in quiet. Does that sound good to you?"

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Before they leave to storm the castle, Mordechai places a dwemer about himself which will ward off some attacks, keeping him slightly safer as they encounter the lord knows what!

"Well lets get this over with, yes! Then we can continue on to Leeds and home"

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

ummm...ok?!?! lol

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

So..is this game dead??

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Once we are all down in the cellar, Mordechai reveals the slip of paper with the instructions on it.

"The sheriff passed this to me when I inquired about a secret way into the castle. It should save us a little time and effort bypassing the main gates, yes?"

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

"I think the basement will do. Are you all coming? I thought you were all fired up to kill some goblins!"

Mordechai starts down to the buildings basement (or undercroft)

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

"I see. Well I can understand your position, and would never think of pressuring you into giving us information you find sensitive. Friends, perhaps we should think about how we will tackle this difficult task. Maybe we should retire to a private room where we can converse."

Mordechai then asks the innkeeper if he has such a place the group could go and speak in private.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

"Perhaps, like many castles, this one has a secret exit, and maybe the sheriff here could divulge this secret to us.", suggests the wizard.

That is a pretty standard fare, but the truth of the matter was that there were not really taverns or inns during this time as we know them now (or from fantasy), but that is another story..lol..being a fishing town, the common meal would be a fish potage (a sort of stew/soup with oats as its main ingredient..and whatever is handy added to the pot), and of course ale, as it was almost every home had its "alewife"

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Whispers back to Artegallio:

"I think you must be meshuggina to trust them, but I can understand your reasons."
The stands there, stroking his beard until he finally makes up his mind.
"The kabbalah teaches that we should question and explore the world around us, and perhaps looking in on this fall into that advice. Ok, I am in!"

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai, ignoring the crusader, looks surprised at the druids acceptance in joining the attack on the hill.
"I would have thought you smarter than this. Why involve yourself in another's business?"

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai shakes his head at the description the Templar gives.
"I have seen your "christian" charity up close in Acre and Jerusalem. I think we know who the slaughterers are!"

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai turns from his conservation with the Innkeeper to speak to the Druid.
"I would be travelling that way and would welcome you as a travelling companion, if you do not mind being seen in the company of a Jew."

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Unable to contain his ire any longer, Mordechai bursts out.
"Its not a simple walk in the park you fools! Even if you can attune yourselves to this portal, there is no reason to believe you will be able to return...even if you can penetrate it in the first place! Its not a door you can casually walk through!"

Realizing that he had said too much already, he guiltily turns away and speaks to the Innkeeper about securing a room, and maybe a mule so he may continue his journey to Leeds.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai hears the templar and mutters under his breath,
"That is all your kind ever says...

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Seeing the display made by the templar, Mordechai shakes his head and mutters something in hebrew under his breath before entering the inn and looking for the proprietor.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai walks to the town of Dover looking for a comfortable inn to stay at. He is slightly surprised to see the others from the ship following him.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Just some clarification please...were we not dropped off outside of Dover? If not, how far away? There should be any number of towns and villages in the area...as well as tracks and roads, unless this area is vastly different from the Dover of our world in 1190 A.D.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

ACK!! I forgot as well...sorry...will do it asap!!!

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai smiles at the half-breed and nods his assent.

"Shalom. A nice day it is. I am Mordechai, a Rabbi just returning from a personal pilgrimage to the Holy Land. It is a pleasure making your acquaintance."

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai listens to all the kvetching being done by the others. He simply sighs and, finding a suitable stout walking stick, heads inland towards where he believes a village may be located.

"One step at a time my friends. We will get there one step at a time. God will provide."

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai continues to watch the christians battle the goblins. He is again shocked at the public use of magic the one fellow uses. He shakes his head and prays for the fellow in hopes he will not be spotted and tried as a heretic or witch, elf or not. This is England, after all!

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai heads for the left side of the cliff, keeping his eye on the "foolish goyim" climbing to battle on the other side. Once he has reached the summit, he will see how the battle has progressed.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Init. 1d20 ⇒ 4

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai shakes his head at the antics of these goyim.

He takes note of the elf who fired the flame from his hands.

Hmmm..now that one will need some watching, I think! Why do these fools rush to battle when, if they were slower, they might just by pass it...oy vey!

Mordichai follows along at a slower pace, using his magic to clean and straighten his clothes as he moves off the beach on climbs the track to the interior.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai gratefully disembarks from the elven ship and says a short prayer for the safe journey.

"Thank you lord for the swift crossing and the subtle reminder of your strength and power."

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai gets up from where he had attempted to help the Templar from falling over the rail. The man did not even offer to a simple thanks, or even an acknowledgement, but that is the way of the gentiles. He returns to his place by the gunnels and awaits the ships landing.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Str. check: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12

So would this be an aid other roll?

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Seeing the Templar sliding towards the rail, Mordechai reaches out and attempts to halt his progress.

Not too sure if this would be a Strength Check or what

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

LOL...Mordechai just dislikes travel by ship....

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai sits scrunched up by the gunwales, wet and miserable, muttering under his breath a short prayer to Jonah.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai boards the ship and finds a seat away from the templar.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai sees the half-orc comings, and quickly bows to the elf and steps aside.

Human Wizard 2 / AC 16/ HP 12/ Perception +2 / +2 Proficiency Bonus

Mordechai smiles and thanks the elf.

"I am returning home from studies abroad. Unlike some of these others, my time in the Holy Land was not spent in blood and fire, but rather in study and contemplation."
