A key you say. Can you describe it, perhaps provide us with a picture of it? That might make it possible to locate with magic. Plenty of spells can do such but they generally need some degree of description of the item. You say you lost it. Do you think someone took it or was it mislaid in all of the, chaos, of recent weeks?

As he shows her the various states she muses, Hmm, I dont really do positive and negative energy, that is more Aristons area. Plane Shift certainly isnt a problem, either of us could provide that. What sort of items do you need for your ritual? We can generally get hold of most things if we really need to.

Mira also takes a look at the box, It is indeed a pretty little thing. If he made this then it may well be possible to use it as a focus item to scry out his current location. I have a great many questions for the ma, most of them starting with "Why, dear lord, why!". Of course, if he is as powerful as I suspect then he is probably mind blanked.

Mira does indeed construct her Magnificent Mansion to provide more comfortable quarters for everyone. They now mirror the building of their manor house.

As she potters around she reminds everyone of the conditions we are likely to experience of the Plane of Shadow.

OK everyone, the Plane of Shadow is an eerie, colourless, depressing place. Everything is in black, white and shades of tedious grey. Its dimply lit and lies close to the negative material plane so we can expect to find undead there. That reminds me, we had best ask our new friend how close we will be to this horror on arrival. The place will impact your magic. Spells that use light or fire are impeded there and light sources are less effective but as we will all have darkvision that shouldnt be a problem. Spells that use shadows, especially the conjuration and evocation spells, are much more potent there. If we are likely to face undead then we might want some restorations and lesser restorations available, maybe remove paralysis, curse and/or disease as well. Basically, anything that can counter the various horrible afflictions they can impose. Anyone got any questions about the planes?

I do not blame you for the actions of the dragon or the Ravager. You did what you had to in order to protect yourselves from a greater danger. A danger I might add that threatens us all. Frankly the titans and, and here she glances over at Ariston, the Gods have a lot to answer for.

I am sorry for the losses you have suffered. I had not appreciated they were so severe. Please, tell us what you were going to suggest. We might well be able to confront this creature but if we could seal it up permanently that might be just as good.

Yes, thats fine

Yes, we did defeat the Ravener. It was after all attacking our homes. While we are powerful we do not attack without provocation. We are here to make sure the Ravener left nothing dangerous lying about that might cause further harm and to recover its hoard. The death of any dragon is likely to attract a hoard of gold hunters after all. Will you come into the light so that we can see one another?

Any knowledge checks we can make on Brother Abyss. Also, can you sense motive for me, just in case he is trying to delay us so some sort of ambush can be set or similar.

My fly speed is 40, my land speed is 120 as a quickling but I dont want to get massively ahead of the group. I will stick to my 40' fly in the hope that is faster than whoever we are chasing.

The only item Mira owns which is based on conjuration that I can see is her handy haversack.

Mira ducks to peer along the westward corridor, to see if she can see what made the noise (assuming Ariston alerts us). She is very keen to examine the decorations to see if they can tell us anything about whoever lives down here but cannot quite resist checking out actual signs of life.

Mira peers down the hole and then around the room. This seems like our only way forward if we wish to progress.

Before they head down she resumes being invisible and activates her wand of heightened awareness.

Hrifgard, unpredictable magic. Not a fan. I've always avoided the place but looks like there's no choice now. I miss Trer, three powerful spellcasters in a realm where magic isn't reliable. Lazur, I fear a lot of this might fall on your shoulders.

Mira comes over and has a look at the runes.So, they make the disc move in some way, is that what we think? Might it give us access to some alternate area? Any idea if trying to go down this opening will set off some sort of trap?

I am a little confused about the reference to moving a stone disc. I though the runes were around the lip of the hole going down to a chamber below?

While the group examines the runes Mira delicately extracts the key from its hiding place. Well, well, well, arent you a fascinating little bit of magic.

She pulls out a wand and activates it before casting another spell as she examines it.

Maybe it unlocks the doors to the monsters treasure vault. Thats probably down that horrible dark hole isnt it. She gives a little sigh. Anything about the runes there?

She glances back at the statue and the grate. These both look like they might be valuable. Remind me to polymorph them into a more moveable shape when we leave. Building a castle and domain is expensive.

Quick rules questions. Swarms are immune to single target effects or things which target a specific number of creatures. Would this include Stormbolts? It sits in a weird place between individually targeted and area effect.

The ichor is slowed. It appears to have moved and cast two spells. I think the charm is quickened but it doesnt have the actions to also cast creeping doom if its a standard as it only gets a move or a standard action.

I may be a font of godlike power but I am also extraordinarily squishy. I will stay where I am for now.

I would also add that I much prefer the infrequent but horribly dangerous encounter model than trying resource drain level 17 characters wit masses of weak encounters.

I dont think that is right. Mind Blank explicitly blocks all spells which try to obtain information about the target through divination magic. That's exactly what True Seeing is doing.

Special senses will generally ignore mind blank. The Echolocation spell defeats it as its a transmutation effect. Blindsense detects the persons square but still leaves them with total concealment (if also invisible) as would Tremorsense if they were on the ground. Blindsight pinpoints you exactly so there is no concealment.

Lifesense is a weird one. It sounds like it works like Blindsense but it doesnt, it actually works like Blindsight.

See invis or true seeing will not detect Mira as she has Mind Blank. Echolocation will tell Lazur exactly where I am and allow him to tatget me with stuff if needed. On that point, Mira will add an extended See Invisibility just in case.

A voice echoes from above, Fraid not, Death Wards a clerical spell, not in my wheel house. I created one for myself when we met the Ravener but that was with a limited wish. Thats a pricey option.

Mira keeps a careful watch out. I should have anticipated this. A Raveners lair is likely suffused with negative energy. We should be very careful, all kinds of unpleasantness could be down here. Watch out for spectral undead in particular, they could be hiding in the walls. Let's check out that glow, I just hope to hell its not some sort of rift to the plane of negative energy, that could be very difficult.

Making sure she is still invisible Mira will slowly fly forward into the room but not before she taps herself with her wands of heightened awareness and shield.
