 Background Mirabelle was born to an influential mercantile family in the heart of the Firas Empire. At an early age she started to show signs of her magical talent. Her parents were horrified at the idea of one of their own children possessing the “taint” as they saw it. They paid medics, magicians, witches and worse to find ways of “curing” their daughter but none of them worked. As each failed and Mirabelle grew older her powers became stronger and harder to hide. Eventually, despairing of the embarrassment they sent her away to be schooled at a convent at the edge of the Diamond Kingdoms. They then promptly forgot her. Close to the magical power of the Dragons Mirabelle thrived. Her powers blossomed but she bristled at the restrictions of the convent and at the imperial ideals of controlling magic. Eventually she ran away, determined that no-one would ever control her fate or her magic. She fell into rootless adventuring, travelling widely across the continent although always avoiding the Empire. Her travels set her delving into ancient ruins of the Titan War, seeking out strange magicians and learning all she could from them and even communing with Dragons from which she believes she draws her arcane powers. In time, as her talents grew, she turned away from traditional adventuring and instead became a free agent, working for nations, merchants, guilds and nobles to solve problems or provide magical support. In her time she has smuggled valuable goods via teleportation, removed awkward rivals with polymorph effects, undertaken espionage and blackmail with charms and illusions and even fought a few small wars. In all her dealings she prefers to avoid harming ordinary folk and prefers to disrupt the actions of the greedy, corrupt or downright evil. Her work has made her many enemies, especially in the Empire which she refuses to work for. Many have tried to capture her or blacken her name, claiming she works for Sheenosek or worse. So far her detractors have tended to end up as statues or worse. She never kills such people, instead embarrassing them in various ways or undermining their wealth and/or power. The money she makes from her work goes into her research of the Titan War. She believes that the arcane might unleashed in that conflict can be restored for the benefit of the World (and her). Appearance Mirabelle is a short, stout woman with close cut dark hair and brown eyes. She normally dresses for travel in well made travelling gear. She always keeps a bag packed for emergencies in case she needs to leave a place in a hurry, something she has had to do more than once. However, Mirabelle is rarely seen in her natural form. She tends to use various transmutation magics to conceal her real form, often augmented by both illusions and mundane disguises. Party Hooks Mirabelle has worked with dozens of different people and organisations over her life. She is a free agent, capable of appearing almost anywhere in the world. She has a large array of skills and spells which can be augmented, making her a very effective problem solver. She particularly uses Paragon Surge to expand her repertoire. This allows you to gain access to a feat. She uses it to access the Expanded Arcana feat. This lets her add 1 level 8 spell or two lower level spells to her spells known. Their is a clarification that, once you have picked, that choice is fixed for the day but it does allow her a lot of flexibility. She also uses it for things like grabbing Heighten spell to create Heightened Continual Flames. She is generally happy to work with most people or organisations excepting those who are outright evil. She has a particular interest in the Titan War, and artefacts and magic from that era so such situations draw her like a moth to the flame. Suggestions of a planar anomaly caused by an extraplanar device would certainly interest her. A Previous Exploit, The Noble:  An elderly noble, the father of a beautiful young heiress, hired Mira to deal with the girls husband. His daughter had married for love, he had married for her money. When he had it he showed his true colours as a degenerate gambler, womaniser and dilletante. His commission was to "deal with the situation, any way she saw fit". Mira put together a team to quietly remove the man. A skilled crafter created a pair of beautiful golden cages and she sent one with an exquisite song bird in it as a gift to the nobleman. Suspecting a trap he had it tested but it was just what it seemed, a very expensive and rare gift. He placed the bird in his bed chamber and forgot about it. That night Mira and her team infiltrated the house.  Mercenaries incapacitated the guards and Mira wiped their memories.  A skilled thief disabled the various magical traps and, when they broke into his room, Mira paralysed him.  Gently waking him she explained that he was being removed from his wife's life. She took out an identical bird cage from her bag but this one bore a subtle enchantment.  It would mask the magical aura of anything placed within it as well as its own enchantment.  She promptly polymorphed him jnto the same songbird.  Placing him into the new cage she assured him that, eventually, his wife was sure to realise what had happened.  If she truly loved him then no doubt she would arrange to have him restored. Picking up the other cage she quickly teleported away to her employer, leaving the original cage for him as a reminder.
