I am also missing these two cards from my add-on deck.

Was just reading through the Advanced Player's Guide and found the second paragraph in the 'Caster Level (CL)' section on page 282:

APG wrote:
The creator’s caster level must be as high as the item’s caster level (and additional requirements may effectively put a higher minimum on the creator’s level).

This replaces the following text from the same section in the Core Rulebook (3rd printing) on page 460:

Core Rules wrote:
For potions, scrolls, and wands, the creator can set the caster level of an item at any number high enough to cast the stored spell but not higher than her own caster level. For other magic items, the caster level is determined by the item itself.

So does the APG supercede the Core Rulebook stating that CL is not a requirement?

One File per Chapter zip:

* I don't believe the One File per Chapter zip includes the inside cover.

* Also, is there anyway to get the included PDFs named similar to how all the pdfs have been named. Currently they only have numbers.

Thanks!

p.s. This AP is already looking out of this world.

The inside covers are there. Look at pg 2 of the Cover or Front Cover and Rear Cover pdfs.

Regarding the file-naming, I think that was already addressed earlier in this thread.

I believe that we'll be doing a poster map of Westcrown that'll be in a different (less experimental, more standard to RPG gaming) style, yes. We'll also be likely to include the more player-friendly version of Westcrown as well. We're still several weeks out from finalizing the contents of this map folio though, so contents are subject to change. I'll post here once I see things in a more final state and let everyone know.

Have to say, I didn't really have a problem with the original map of Westcrown. However, judging by the PDF, the new poster map version of Westcrown looks amazing!

Thanks!

Thanks!

My problem is ability scores. 9 times out of 10 I'll write them down in this order:

STR
INT
WIS
DEX
CON
CHA

Looks like there's a typo in the alignment for the Strix (it's showing as 'AL'). Any suggestions as to what it should be?

Thanks,

Not that people are likely to play Universalist Wizards any more, but I do have a question about Hand of the Apprentice that I'm looking for some guidance on. Mainly I'm trying to figure out if range increment and thrown weapon penalties apply. Here's the line that I'm considering.

pg 82 wrote:
This attack is treated as a ranged attack with a thrown weapon

Does this mean that a wizard carrying a quarterstaff, attacking a creature 30 feet away would take -8 in penalties to use HotA (-4 for throwing a weapon not normally thrown, and -4 for two 10' range increment penalties).

Or, does HotA allow you to throw any weapon without penalty up to 30 feet away?

I can see arguments for both points of view, although I'm leaning towards the latter since HotA is not nearly as overpowering as it was before.

The stat block for Ezren in Crypt of the Everflame supports your second option, which is the way I read it, too. However, even though it's not stated explicitly, I would still apply non-proficiency penalties.

Saw this on Sunday with the family (wife and 2 girls ages 6 & 9). Everyone enjoyed it, but I don’t think any of us would pick it as our favorite Miyazaki film. We’ll be adding it to the collection when it is released on DVD, and it’s definitely worth seeing in the theater. One thing I did realize while watching it was how nice it was to see a hand-animated movie on the big screen again.

My daughter Jenny (15) and I had the pleasure of playing with dad & Katie through the delve at the Paizo booth. Katie's Seoni was a force to be reckoned with, and if dad had been just a little quicker with his roll to channel energy in the last seconds of the game, we might have cleared three rooms (He still kicked more butt than my Valeros, ha!) It was a great pleasure to play father & daughter PF with these two. I look forward to our daughters randomly running into each other in a con some years in the future...

Reckless,

We both had a great time running through the delve with the two of you as well. Jenny's Merisiel dished out quite a bit of damage with thrown dagger crits, too. And in my defense, I think Kyra's -1 Init was rubbing off on me. :)

So, anybody notice Paizo's latest marketing strategy, using adorable little children to weaken customers' resistance? It seems kind of overkill to me, as if we had any resistance left. Or is this the next generation of gamers? Discuss.

Wait a minute, Katie's no marketing strategy, she's my kid! And yes, that is her own copy of the rules. :)

[edit] Also, if you rename the per-chapter files the hyperlinks won't work properly.

Gary,

Just to let you know, the one file per chapter .zip that I downloaded this morning does not contain the Ch13 file at all (not even the incorrectly named one). Just wanted to pass this along.

Thanks!

I have to vote for Ticket to Ride in all its flavors, but primarily the USA version with the 1910 expansion. It is currently the game of choice for family game night in our household (me, the wife, and two girls ages 9 & 6). It is also spreading throughout the extended family. My parents, brother's family, and my brother-in-law's family have all purchased copies of the game after we introduced it to them. The simplicity of the game play (play trains, draw trains, or draw tickets) makes the game very accessible, and the strategy element can be as casual or as cut-throat as you like.

Also, a friend of mine started a sub last month after I told him about Planet Stories, so word of mouth is working a litte.

Hey all,

It looks like the one-file-per-chapter version of the PFRPG download in my download page isn't complete. The ZIP file only contains the back cover PDF (size 2.3 MB). However, the single file version seems OK. Don't know if this is affecting everyone or just me, but I thought I'd mention it.

Thanks!

First off, a big "Thank you" to Eric and all the folks at Paizo for being so open with the community during this whole '4E' saga. Now, on to the questions:

1) Do you plan to convert to the new edition of D&D?

No, although I plan on looking through the PHBv4 and DMGv4 at my FLGS. If I see anything I like that I want to convert to v3.5, I may pick them up.

--

2) If Paizo converts its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

Pathfinder - If this goes 4E, I will continue my subscription through the first issue of the new edition. I will then make a decision on whether to continue the subscription after seeing that first 4E issue.

Gamemastery Modules - I currently don't have a subscription, but I have purchased all of the modules so far from my FLGS (trying to share the weath). My decision process for these will be the same as for Pathfinder.

Pathfinder Chronicles - These items will be decided on a case-by-case basis depending on the amount of 4E specific crunch (i.e., the more 4E specific crunch there is, the less likely I will purchase the item). I would probably cancel my Chronicles subscription in this case (but that does not mean I would never buy another Chronicles product).

--

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

Pathfinder/Pathfinder Chronicles - I would continue my subscriptions.

Gamemastery Modules - I would continue purchasing these through my FLGS.

--

As for the non-RPG product lines:

Planet Stories - I'll be keeping this subscription forever. :)

Titanic Games - I plan on getting Key Largo and still need to get the Stonehenge expansion. I've been spending most of my gaming $$ on boardgames over the last 6 or so months, so if you keep this line going, I'll be happy to support it (although I would probably order the games through my FLGS, trying to share the weath again).

Hope this helps with your decision making process.

Olaf,

You might want to check any nearby big name brick and mortar book stores (Borders, Joseph Beth, Barnes & Noble, etc) to see if they still have a copy on the shelf. I managed to pick this up at a local Borders earlier last month.

Good luck!
