I had a player in a society game the other day playing a fighter that had used retraining to swap shield block for fleet. I and others at the table were unable to immediately provide him with a satisfactory reason why he cannot do this. In the end I just said 'not at my table'. What argument can I use to defend against someone wanting to lose shield block in favor of another general feat?

So I gave a character the summoner dedication feat at level 2 but now I'm not certain how to actually use the eidolon.

It's pretty clear that the character has only 3 actions per round between him and the eidolon, but since the archetype doesn't grant act together, does this mean that on a given turn I can have either the character or the eidolon take actions but not both?

So this weekend I had a GM rule that my precision ranger could get the 1d8 hunter's edge bonus for either the ranger OR her animal companion but not both. His argument is that I must choose one or the other to get the hunter's edge bonus per turn. I don't read the ability that way and have always in the past gotten the extra damage on the first hit against hunted prey from both the ranger and the companion. Was I robbed or have I just been playing wrong all this time?

Is it possible to wear gloves underneath gauntlets? Specifically Healer's Gloves underneath the gauntlets that come with heavy armor.

I think I may be missing something. The guide has this to say about negative effects/conditions.

Negative Effects
The Pathfinder Society has resources to take care of its members, and many of the possible negative effects an adventurer can be subject to during an adventure are assumed to be taken care of during Downtime. The exceptions to this are death, permanent petrification or polymorph effects, curses, and permanent negative conditions (Core Rulebook 618–623) acquired during the course of the adventure. These negative effects must be cleared at the end of the adventure or the character must be reported as “dead,” unable to continue adventuring in Pathfinder Society organized play. Most of these negative effects can be cleared by spending Fame for the appropriate service on Table 2: All-Factions Boons. Other PCs may use their spells, feats, class abilities, or consumables to assist you in recovering from such negative effects, but they aren’t required to.

I can't seem to find a way to fix any of these problems with fame except for death via the resurrection plan. What am I missing?

So I was looking at the APG and found the cook background and felt inspired. Reaper makes an awesome miniature and I'm sure there are other chef/cook minis out there as well Halfling Chef. I'm envisioning a halfling baker witch with a gingerbread man as a familiar. This would most likely have to be a Pathfinder Society character though and I'm not sure that there are any rules yet for any sort of crafted familiar. Am I forgetting something or am I out of luck for the time being?

I assume a thrown shortsword would count as an improvised weapon but what would the range increment be?

Is there any sort of Use Magic Device ability to allow non-casters to use wands or scrolls. I can't seem to find anything.

As I was creating my undine druid I was dismayed to discover that the hippo companion does not have a swim speed. Is there a PFS-legal way to grant a swim speed to an animal companion?

I plan to add one level of Brawler to my Slayer. Since I'll only ever take one level of Brawler is there any reason to not take the Wild Child archetype?
