Male Human Cleric/5

I stay back and continue to concentrate on keening Mantooth's sword. Letting the big hitters have their day. I will stay this way until someone needs healing. -- Round 2, Round 3, and Round 4.

Male Human Cleric/5

1st, 2nd, 3rd Rounds

Maintaining the Badger's Ferocity on Mantooth. Mantooth, remember, you have a crit range of 17-20 while this lasts.

Male Human Cleric/5

I am going to continue to concentrate on the Badger's Ferocity. It has no duration and as long as I continue to concentrate, it will keep working. Since I know that we are going to be fighting again shortly, I will just keep concentrating.

Male Human Cleric/5

@DMHW - I should be at L31, I made a 5-foot move in round 7.

Round 8

5-foot move to M31

Concentration Check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 vs. DC18 (10+damage(5)+spell level(3))

Continue concentrating - Badger's Ferocity on Mantooth - crit on 17-20

Round 9

Continue concentrating - Badger's Ferocity on Mantooth - crit on 17-20

This spell will be much better next level when both Mantooth and Thordak can be Keened.

Male Human Cleric/5

7th Round

Seeing Mantooth swinging his way through enemies.

5-foot move to L31.

Cast Badger's Ferocity on Mantooth. This will increase his Crit range from 19-20 to 17-20.

Male Human Cleric/5

Round 5
Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

[b] Round 6[/dice]

As I am tripped, cast Burning Hands Defensively.

Concentration: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 vs DC17

Burning Hands aiming straight left - should get the manicore, two worgs and one rider.

Damage: 5d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 3, 4) = 15 - save DC 16 for 1/2 damage

I will then stand likely provoking an AoO from any monster near me.

Male Human Cleric/5

5th Round

Attack whichever Hobgoblin appears most injured after Mantooth's obliterating swing:
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Male Human Cleric/5

3rd Round

The move should have been to P31.

4th Round

Move to L30.

Ready Attack if any enemy comes within range.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Male Human Cleric/5

3rd Round

Double move to P38.

Male Human Cleric/5

2nd Round

Bofus, how many hobgoblins are stuck in Tirion's web?

Assuming I get an answer.

Move to V29.

Cast Fireball centered at Q20/R21 - should get 5 hobgoblins

Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 2, 4) = 15 + 2d4 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 - extra 2d4 if in web - Reflex DC18

3rd Round

To be determined.

Male Human Cleric/5

1st Round
Seeing the hobgoblins come out, I move to X30 and fire my crossbow at J30 hobgoblin.

Attack with crossbow @J30-- 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage - 1d8 ⇒ 4

Male Human Cleric/5

1st Round

Seeing the abomination, I cast Fireball centered at U13 so that it avoids the causway.

Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 2, 2) = 14 - DC18 I believe

Male Human Cleric/5

No problem.

Male Human Cleric/5

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

I think the horses could take the bridge, not that sturdy, but passable.

Does anyone see an ambush here?

Male Human Cleric/5

Morning all. Sorry about the light posting. I keep up with the campaign and try to post whenever my skills/abilities are needed, but have not had the time to really participate fully. If you all would prefer retiring Matthais back to Brindol to rejoin the Lions, and recruit a full time player, that is fine. I am good either way as I have not had the time to fully get into this character. Also, I have never been a horse person, so it is a tough to play him to the fullest of his abilities.

If Matthais returns to Brindol, then if the real Matthias comes back, he could rejoin the party.

Please let me know so that DMHW can get someone full time if you would prefer.

Male Human Cleric/5

Sorry about the light posting, been busy recently.

Either way we are likely to run into goblins. With Humphrey, I would prefer to stay to the beaten track, the Dawn Way. But, in either case I assume that we will get drawn into the woods.

Male Human Cleric/5

I will take that Banded Mail, looks much nicer than the Breastplate I have right now. I would be concerned about selling the red shortswords as they may be some type of a Red Hand symbol and we do not yet know how ingrained their network here is. I would rather not have a target on our backs before we even get into town.

Not sure who all needs healing, but here are two Channel Energy to start:

Channel Energy: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3) = 10

Channel Energy: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3) = 7

Male Human Cleric/5

7th Round

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Male Human Cleric/5

6th Round Changed from above.

5-foot step back to E/-11

I cast Burning Hands straight to the left, should get both Hobgoblins.

Damage-Fire:5d4 ⇒ (1, 2, 2, 3, 4) = 12 [ooc] DC16 for 1/2 damage

Male Human Cleric/5

4th Round

Attack E/-13 Hobgoblin.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

5th Round

Attack E/-13 Hobgoblin.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

6th Round

Attack E/-13 Hobgoblin.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

I switch to the other Hobgoblin if the first goes down.

Male Human Cleric/5

2nd Round

Ride: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

3rd Round
Attack F/-13 Hobgoblin: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

And you think the dicebot hates you. Matthais can't hit the broad side of a barn from inside it.

Male Human Cleric/5

2nd Round

Drawing my scimitar, I have humphrey charge and attack the hobgoblin at F/-13.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 1 = 13 +1 for attacking from higher position on mount.
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Male Human Cleric/5

Round 1

This should be fun.

Sarenrae, lets show these brigands the blessed power of fire.

Cast Fireball centered at I/-13
Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 6, 1) = 16 20' raidus, DC18 reflex save for 1/2 damage

Bofus might want to aim at another since I am guessing his target is toast.

Heh, bet that one smarted.

Male Human Cleric/5

Having listened to his companions speak, Matthais steps forward:

My lord, I have always honored yourself and sought to protect Brindol. Yes, I left the Lions as I felt a higher calling from the Dawnflower, but I would, and have, done all that I can to protect this great city and its citizens. I believe your former Magistrate Strickland felt likewise, and was only forced to betray the trust of the city when his family was threatened by the vile Trask, a threat which should be eliminated with the death of Trask.

On the other hand, I believe that Jared Kaal has a different series of priorities. First is his mother who rules that family with an iron fist and will do whatever is necessary to make her family the most powerful in the region. As Tirion has told you, laws are irrelevant unless they serve her. Thus, planting evidence on Tirion to have him arrested was acceptable to her, as well as then using the laws of Brindol in an attempt to have the innocent Tirion arrested.

Jared's second priority is himself. He has an ego a mile high and I am sure beating him in the steeplechase hurt his pride immensely. In addition, His mother lost something very dear to her, power over my family, by my winning the race. As a result of her underhanded dealings together with some poor economic luck by my father, my father owed Lady Kaal a substantial sum. However, she so loves her darling son do much, that she was willing to wager the entire debt owed against my steed that Jared would beat me in the race. She lost, and I am sure that this has hurt her pride beyond belief. I have no doubt that she is placing the entire blame for this on her son, which is likely another reason why Jared Kaal is not to be trusted as a Magistrate, he needs to do everything in his power to get back in his mother's good graces. Assuredly he is trying to use his position as Magistrate to regain his mother's favor.

And finally is Brindol, although Jared may have other priorities that I am unaware of before the city. Since he has been named Magistrate, he has not worked with the public to assure their safety. He has not worked with Captain Ulverth to assure that Brindol's two main policing forces, the guard and the Lions, are working together to protect the citizens. He has only been trying to arrest several out of town people who were attempting to catch a know criminal. Heck, as was discussed by my friends, he went so far as threaten Captain Ulverth when we arrived back at the jail to release Tirion and Thordak pursuant to your command.

Sir, the choice is yours, but if you have the ability, I would have someone trail and listen to the Magistrate wanna-be, to see where his priorities lie. I doubt they are aimed at protecting the city and its wise leader. In fact, I would put money on the fact that his motives are solely to assure that the Kaal's have the run of the town and are able to control every facet of the economy, and thereby the city itself.

Male Human Cleric/5

As a note for all:

Thordak has a Belt of Dex +2
Mantooth has a Belt of Str +2
Matthais has a Belt of Str +2 and a Headband of Wis +2
Tirion has a Headband of Chr +2

--> Make sure you all add these to your sheets. Bofus did not get one. If anyone has the cash left, these 5 took 10 days, I can make a handy haversack or anything else that someone needs as long as it is <8k which would be the remaining time in the 2 weeks we were off/ rebuilding the hideout.

Male Human Cleric/5

One Belt of Giant's Strength coming up. Although you need to run to town and get me some stuff, should cost about 2k gold.

Spellcraft:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

Male Human Cleric/5

A plain ordinary +1 Longsword is worth 2k, yours is definitely more.

Male Human Cleric/5

I never heard, did Bofus and Mantooth want belts? I assume Strength for Mantooth and Dex for Bofus? If so, let me know and I will make the spellcraft check. Also, make sure that you deduct 2k.

Male Human Cleric/5

I grin at Thordak's request. The belt I can help you with. So, you want to be more agile, they gonna call you the Nimble Dwarf?

As far as the breastplate goes, I am afraid that I cannot help you as I have not learned how to create magical armor or weapons. You might want to talk to the Harpwizard or your armorer about that.

But hey guys, you should see what I did learn to do.

I take everyone upstairs and outside and tell them to stand behind me.

Cast Fireball BOOM

Grinning: Pretty cool huh. Sarenrae really knows how to support her priests.

Oh, Thordak, add to your lists the stuff to make your belt out of, should come to around 2000 gold, not cheap, but worth it.

Spellcraft:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 vs DC 18, 2 day creation for Belt of Incredibly Dexterity(which will help our cannonball avoid falling off of his new steed), will be done on day 6

Also, for Tirion:
Spellcraft:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 vs DC 18 2 day creation for Headband of Alluring Charisma , finished on day 8

If anyone else wants anything Mantooth? Belt of Giant Strength? Bofus? Belt of Inedible Dexterity? You guys need to let me know what, or any other Wondrous Item.

Male Human Cleric/5

@DMHW - it is 2 days for each of my items - so 4 days total. If anyone else wants something and has the cash for the components (50% of the base price), I can make more. In the case of the +2 belts/necklaces, it costs 2k and will take 2 days with a +5 DC or 4 days at normal speed. If we can take 2 weeks of down time, I can craft 1 for each of the guys at normal speed - Dex for Bofus, Cha for Tirion, Str for Mantooth and Str or Dex for Thordak.

Thus, it is up to you regarding timing of the module, everyone had enough for 1 or possible 2 items at present depending on what they bought previously.

Male Human Cleric/5

No - I do not have the Craft Magical Arms and Armor, I cannot do anything with weapons or armor. I can craft almost anything under the Wondrous Items category - Belts, Hats, Amulets, Haversacks, etc.

Yes, you can upgrade things all you want. I will probably upgrade the Belts and Necklaces if we have the time.

Male Human Cleric/5

Thordak - I do not have Craft Weapons and Armor, I realized that the best I could do is +1 right now and only +2 from levels 6-8. Thus, I took Craft Wondrous Items which seemed to be more valuable for us at present. I can make all the Belts and Necklaces which increase stats - the only limitation is Spellcraft checks and time and money. For instance a Belt of Physical Dominance or a Headband of Mental Superiority costs 77k and would take 154 days to craft, 77 days if I were to take a +5 DC penalty.

Two things about the Bracers of Archery, they only work with bows, not crossbows, and it requires both Craft Wondrous Items and Craft Weapons and Armor, so I do not have the feat and I do not think that it would help you anyway. On the other hand, a Belt of Dexterity would give you +2, +4, +6 to your Dexterity which adds to your AC and attack with ranged weapons.

Male Human Cleric/5

Item Creation:

I will try to increase the speed by 50% for the first two items, this incurs a +5 DC penalty.

Spellcraft checks are DC18 which is Base 5+CL8+5(1/2 time penalty) This would be DC13 without the penalty.

Day 2: Headband of Inspired Wisdom +2 - Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Day 4: Belt of Giant Strength +2 - Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

I do not know how much time we have, but if anyone else has 2k and wants to buy stuff for Belts/Headbands, or any other Wondrous Item, please let me know and I can work on it. I am out of money at the present.
__________
@DMHW - the money from Nexic's lair and the thieves' guild is added and then I deducted 1000 sp, 3700 gp, and 40 pp for the 4k for these items.

Male Human Cleric/5

After saying goodbye to Florence, I spend the evening with the rest of the group at the Wyvern. The next day, I would like to purchase the components for a Headband of Wisdom and a Belt of Physical Might, +2 each. Then head out with Mantooth to the fort so that I can set up shop and begin crafting. I will also find a place there to set up a small shrine to Sarenrae.

I will also help with the cleanup when not crafting, but would like to get a full 8 hours of crafting in.

Male Human Cleric/5

Yep - as a cleric I have access to all the strength/int/ability boost spells, so it is easy. My spellcraft is not super high, so it may take a full 4 days for the items. Cost is 50% of base if DMHW is using the standard PF rules. I can craft on the road, but only get like 2 hours credit per day whereas a quiet area is 8 hours.

Mantooth, you are going to get a Strength Belt, Bofus will get a Dex Belt, Tirion a Charisma Headband, Thordak probably Strength Belt to start, and Strength Belt and Wisdom Headband for me. At +2 the cost of materials should be 2k for each of these. Once I finish these, I will probably move to Haversacks and other stuff. Just remember, the entire campaign so far has only taken less than a week, so I may never get any of this stuff made. (And yeh, these all have real names like Belt of Physical Might, but I am too lazy to look up the names.)

Male Human Cleric/5

Are you getting the furry armor? I actually took Craft Wondrous Items and plan on starting to craft ability boosters and resistance cloaks and handy haversacks and similar useful stuff.

@DMHW - my plan is to make a Headband or Wisdom +2 and a Belt of Strength +2 to start. Should require 4k total(2k per item).

Anyone else who wants stuff, let me know. It takes 1 day per 1k of value and the cost of making items is 50% of the book cost. I can make almost anything that is a Wondrous Items, just remember that if the requirements include something that is not a level 1-3 cleric spell, I am at a -5 on my spellcraft check to make it.

Male Human Cleric/5

Ok - I am trying to figure what Matthais should have. He has essentially no magic equipment and little gold. This is what was received from Nexic's Lair:

324 platinum pieces
3,278 gold pieces
5,236 silver pieces

4 mooonstones at 50 g.p. each
6 pearls at 80 g.p. each
5 semi precious gemstones 30 g.p. each

Dagger +2 --> to Tirion, sold today

• Magic Flute --> to Florence, I assume she took it with her

• Cloak of Elvenkind --> to Bofus

• Studded Leather Armor +2 (Small sized) --> I assume sold

• Amulet of Positive Channeling (See Phylactery of Positive Channeling, but in amulet form) -->My guess is that Matthais has this even though it is not on this sheet.

• Rapier +2 (Small sized) --> Bofus?

• Full Plate Mail Armor +1 --> I hope that Mantooth is using this.

• Boots of Elvenkind --> Tirion wearing

• Bracers - +1 I think, I believe these went to Tirion

_________

@DMHW - based on this, I would think that Matthais should have the Amulet and about 60pp, 600gp, 1000sp from this loot. Please let me know if I am wrong. I cut a little off the top which will be the cost for the inn, guards for the horse, etc. Please let me know if this is ok so that I can figure what I want to craft/buy.

__________

@Bofus - did I get a +1 Breastplate from somewhere? I think it was in the thieves guild, just want to make sure so that the character sheet is up to date and everything is clear before we move on.

___________

If there was much loot before the slaver part of the campaign, let me know so that I can find what Matthais should have gotten. From what I can see, he has not spent much.

Male Human Cleric/5

@Bofus - is the loot on your character sheet complete? if so, do you know how the distribution was done? There is a pile of coins and a bunch of magic items which I am not sure we are using. I want to know so that I can figure if I can make some stuff while we have some down time. I can also try to craft things for others if there is something you want that requires level 1-3 cleric spells.

@DMHW - I would like to take Craft Wondrous Items as my feat instead of Craft Armor and Weapons as I can only craft a +1 weapon or armor, but have a lot more options with the Craft Wondrous Items.

Male Human Cleric/5

I know that I have asked this before, but does anyone know how much loot I should have? Matthais apparently did not update this very well. I took Craft Magic Arms and Armor for my feat and would like to start making basic +1 stuff (Armor, Shield, Scimitar), but my cash seems to be very low.

Thanks so that this can get finished before we move on.

Thank you sir. If you have some paper and a quill, I shall draft that letter immediately.

Once I have the Lord's letterhead:
___________

Magistrate Jared Kaal:
.
It has come to my attention that you have arrested two gentlemen, one Tirion Jörðhár and one Thordak son of Throtgar. Please release them immediately into the care of Captain Ulverth to be brought to me. These men are not to be harmed and all counts against them are to be stayed until such time as I have presided over their trial.
.
This letter is being sent in accordance with the laws of Brindol pursuant to the powers granted me as Lord of Brindol.
.
Yours Truly,
.
.
Kerden Jarmaath, Lord of Brindol

Male Human Cleric/5

Seeing his companions being less than talkative today:

M'lord. Let me try to explain what has occurred. We came by to talk to you earlier today only to discover that you were grievously poisoned and the good priests did not appear to have any magic which could cure you. Our group, myself, Ms. Danapieré, Mantooth, Tirion, Bofus and Thordak searched this room and found that your illness appeared to have been caused by that candle on your desk.

I point to the candle.

Since this was an apparent arcane illness, we sought out some help regarding this. Thordak's friend the dwarven witch Dalga told us that she believed she could create a cure, but we would have to find the key ingredient.

Being unsure what to do, but knowing of one individual we believed to be in the town, we decided to make an assault on an underground compound to which Thordak and Bofus had trailed a mysterious man after the incident at the theatre last night. This morning, Tirion and Bofus had further investigated the lair and thought that they had heard the mention of Baron Trasks' name. Thus, we as a group entered the lair through a secret door in the sewers. Within we first met several rogues who attacked us. We defeated them and took several prisoner, your Sergeant Suri has since taken possession of these prisoners.

After this initial encounter, we proceeded further into the lair where we found none other than your good friend Baron Trask. He was discussing some type of an attack on Brindol involving hordes of hobgoblins - there were also several hobgoblins and one forest drake in the lair.

After a difficult fight in which Baron Trask was killed and Narvak Kruel, your local guildmaster of thieves, was captured, we managed to capture or kill all of the thieves. Kruel informed us that indeed a certain Red Cyclamine had been stolen from the Keep a few days earlier and that it was the only cure for your illness. Immediately Thordak, Tirion and Bofus took the plant while Florence, Mantooth and myself remained on guard watching the captured thieves. My understanding is that the three wee folk first came here only to recall that Dalga had returned to her home in the woods. Thus, they ran to Dalga who created an antidote from the roots of the plant. They then returned to the keep where the antidote was administered to you, despite some ptotests from your priests that the dwarven witch was nothing but a charlatan.

It should be noted that your biggest supporter, Lady Kaal, attempted to waylay the trio, but Thordak managed to outrun her while Tirion and Bofus outwitted her attempts to plant a ring on Tirion claiming Tirion had stolen it. Fortunately, Sergeant Suri intervened and stopped Lady Kaal before she was able to mislead your guards.

After giving you the antidote, the trio returned to the thieves lair with Sergeant Suri just as the wily Kruel stabbed me and managed to escape. Florence stabbed him several times and actually knocked Kruel into the sewage, but Tirion who had just arrived though that this was just a ruse.

I am not entirely clear on what occurred after this, but Tirion, Thordak and Florence then investigated the sewer and found what appeared to be marks where someone had climbed out of the sewage, and a little farther on, saw marks where someone had exited through a manhole cover. By talking with some Brindolians, the three first trailed Kruel to a home by the river where a lady mentioned that someone had stolen a set of her husbands overalls and a blue shirt. Kruel's clothes were found near the river behind the home. Then, being unsure where he had gone, the three went to the nearby Raven tavern. They staked out the tavern and a few minutes later six men dressed in blue shirts and pairs of overalls came out of the tavern. These men also all had their heads covered, which is more than a mere coincidence if you ask me.

At this point, my friends may have made a poor decision, but apparently Tirion cast one of his patented web spells and trapped several of the hatters and Florence and Thordak attacked the others believing them to be more thieves helping their guildmaster escape. My understanding is that of the four who were unhatted, none were Kruel, whether he was one of the other's or not I do not know as your guards then apprehended Tirion and Thordak.

My understanding is that while deadly force was used, none of these crazy hatters was killed and all were working to help a known criminal escape. As soon as one of them spoke or took off his hat, all attacks against him ceased. Nonetheless, Tirion and Thordak were arrested and apparently Lady Kaal's prize son, your Magistrate, has already rendered his verdict without any evidence and found both guilty of attempted murder without a trial or any ability to defend themselves. Kaal then sentenced both to death, which is to be carried out in the morning.

So M'Lord. We need your help to rectify this situation. Tirion and Thordak meant no harm to anyone innocent, but only did what they believed was best when six people exiting from a tavern known to harbor less than reputable elements are dressed exactly like a known criminal and refuse identify themselves as one would expect from innocent people.

Sir, please summon your Magistrate and ask that he bring Tirion and Thordak here so that we can resolve this. If we are all banished from this good town because of their actions, so be it, but do not allow Lady Kaal's spawn to kill these good people just because Kaal wishes to spite me for beating him in the steeplechase at the tournament.

Male Human Cleric/5

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Yes my good priestess. As my wee friend explained. We have two companions who have gotten themselves in trouble with elements of society over which Lord Jarmaath may be able to exert some influence. However, if we do not talk to him, members of a certain powerful local family may decide to take some rather drastic actions which would not benefit my companions health.

We do not require much time with the good Lord, but a few moments is all.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Male Human Cleric/5

As I walk by Kaal, I just give him a long dark knowing stare.

Male Human Cleric/5

Listening to Bofus:

Perhaps we are judging too fast. However, you are also viewing this from a decidedly single view. Think about this. Kruel has spent years as a thief. He has risen to the powerful position of guildmaster in a fairly large city. He did not do this by stabbing everybody in the back, although I am sure that he has done his fair share of that. He did it principally through connections, subterfuge and deceit. He knows how to cover his tracks and he knows how to speak with a silver tongue.

Thus, before you continue to defend him, think about all the facts. He willingly allowed a drake and hobgoblins into his guild. He allowed Trask into his guild. He knew exactly what the plant was for, after all, he told us. Perhaps he is innocent, but if that is the case, then he should have been willing to stand trial for his deeds. Instead he chose to stab me and flee, that is not a sign of innocence, that is a sign of guilt.

If he were truly innocent, knowing that Trask intended to cause great harm to this good city - harm that would likely cut into his own profits as a thief, then he would have informed the authorities when Trask and the hobbies were arriving. Instead he allowed them into his home and helped to hide them there.

BTW - what ever happened with Trasks kid? Did we just leave him to rot in the trap room?

Male Human Cleric/5

Listening to Bofus.

You have not lived in this town as long as I. I was a member of the Lions, I had to deal with Kruel and his thugs on a daily basis. A picked pocket here, a mugging there. And all of it tied to Kruel. We knew he was behind it all, but never were able to get the evidence until you and Thordak found their secret lair. Kruel is a powerful thief, he could have easily gotten away from Trask. Instead he decided that it was to his own benefit to side with Trask. You may recall during his story he never said what it was that Trask had that forced him two work with Trask. I am guessing this is because it was nothing. Kruel was in on this with Trask for Kruel's benefit and only Kruel's benefit. Now as a result I am injured and Thordak and Tirion are probably being beaten by that thug Kaal who is no better, and probably worse than Kruel. Heck, I bet you 5 gp that if we were to investigate the Kaal mansion, we would find Kruel sitting there having tea with the old witch Kaal herself.

After saying this, I spit on the ground in disgust.

Male Human Cleric/5

Hearing the description of what happened.

We should have bound Kruel when we had a chance. I told you all that he was a boil on society, but you let him stay unbound. Well, lets head off to the barracks and see what happened and get our friends out of Mr. Worthless Kaal's grasps.

Shaking my head and sighing.

Yeh, it is probably best to talk to Lord Jarmaath. Also, should we get Strickland? If he is returned to his position as Magistrate, then that will really ruffle Kaal's feathers.

I get up and begin heading for the door.

Male Human Cleric/5

After Detect Magic scanning Kruel's room.

I do not sense anything magical here, lets search the room and see what he has here.

As the Sergeant prepares to take the prisoners away:

Be careful with them, especially the magician, we got him before he cast anything, so he likely has his whole repertoire of spells left. Personally, I would keep him unconscious, but bound and gagged is a good second. Also, we do not yet know who else is involved with the guild, so I would watch carefully for anyone staring or following you.
.
Good luck, and let me know if there is any other way that we can help you.

Once the thieves and the guards are gone, I will begin to cast Detect Magic and scan each of the rooms. Starting in the unsearched bedroom and moving backwards to the rogues bedroom. I will keep recasting this as necessary and will take 10 or 20 on anything magical that I see.

Seeing the room and the evidence in Maliki's hand.

You heard Sir Mantooth. Put down your weapons and the items you took from this room, and I shall personally talk to Lord Jarmaath to see that any punishment you receive be reduced based upon your actions and testimony. Should you choose to burn what you have in your hand, I will see that you do not see the light of day again, thus making your sacrifice for the guild meaningless. Trust me, your guildmates, if any have survived, would not do the same for you. As far as your deserting leader Kruel is concerned, I assure you that my compatriots have already apprehended him, if he still survives.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

I continue to move toward Maliki on the right hand side of the table to block his exit through the secret passage should he attempt to follow his partner.
