Hi.

One question: Blessed Soul gives two skill proficiencies. Then it states when you go Cleric you gain all Cleric starting proficiencies but Saving Throws. So you gain Cleric Skill Proficiencies on top of the ones given by Blessed Soul and the background, for a total of 6? Or did you probably mean you gain Cleric starting proficiencies but Saves and Skills?

Under the supposition that Talindra shares that info...

Mark can't help but remember the cult of Mother Night back in his homeland. They also sacrificed to get Her favour... only the sacrifices themselves were not too keen on it. From what he knows, Silvanus has two sides of the same coin, just like Mother Night, and he wonders which one the old man with the staff belonged to.

"A fascinating finding, for sure."

"Hm" he nods. Them he tries one of the gloves as well, and puts his hand on one of the levers.

"At the count of three?"

"Eh... Uh..." Mark hesitates. "I'm... not sure about that..."

He looks around quickly.

"Can any of you check whether these have any kind of magic?" he asks, pointing at the glove Talindra is about to wear.

Mark looks at the boxes with greedy eyes.

"Do you guys think there's a trap there?" he asks to no one in particular.

Mark controls his tentacle of darkness and makes it slam again at one of the zombies, hopefully this time with better luck.

Mark takes his time to choose a proper target. He twists his free hand and a shadowy tendril sprouts, lashing at one of the zombies that have entered the room.

Mark nods and stands with hands ready to wield staff and spells as needed - at least to the small degree he's capable of.

Mark nods as he takes mental notes. Brene is a good infiltrator - that's always nice to have.

For now he's not good at almost anything, but he's young and he's working hard. Soon, he expects to be a valuable asset in s party and a helpful hand for the follow of the Duchy.

"So many possibilities..." Mark thinks out loud. "I think we should check the shortest corridor first - thus we will have a checked area of which not to worry while we explore the left aisle."

Seeing Talindra looking for footprints, Mark has a quick look over the explorer's shoulders.

Commenting what he's found, if anything, he follows the rest, only leaving Brene behind.

Mark will function as a semi tank later on, but let's address things at their time. For now, he's mostly useless in every aspect, so he's happy to leave useful defensive items for the guys who are going to carry most of the weight on their shoulders.

You guys think about me when we find a heavy armor, will ya? ;)

Mark quickly gets rid of the dead arms, still clinged to his neck.

"That necklace didn't fit my style."

Mark feels the dead hand around his neck, choking him and detaining his life force. He quickly reaches for his staff and reviews an oration, blessing his strikes in an attempt to relive the source of his pain.

Mark shrugs and lends a hand with the searching.

Mark helps taking out the debris with the shovel. Once they open the second mound, he leans on it for a while, wiping the sweat from his brow.

"You guys sure it's worth our time to check all these secondary chambers? It seems there are quite a bunch of them..."

After meeting the rest of the family, Mark bids goodnight to test properly for tomorrow's expedition.

"No, no, everything's right. Well, you know how things are back there, I just decided I didn't want that."

Mark explained how he's been traveling and that he plans on going to the barrows.

"I thought it wouldn't be nice to not pay a visit. Listen..." he says, a bit embarrassed, "can I leave some of my wares here? Or even better, do you want them for the shop? There are some things I wouldn't carry around here and there, and some coins wouldn't hurt."

"So it seems some of these mounds are not connected with the complex" Mark comments. "Well, at least now we know why it was open to begin with."

In town:

Mark walks nervously to the trade post. What does he really expect from this meeting? That his uncle hugs him as a happy family? Probably not. But well, it's been a while since he's last seen a familiar face - not that he's ever known Andre, but he should remember her sister... Or do does Mark hope!

He enters the trading post and the sound of some bells announces a visitor. The man inside turns around to check, and Mark just stands there.

"Uncle Andre?"

So, I'm alright leaving it here of you want. We can assume that was a happy meeting, and maybe I can sell some wares or exchange them with a little discount - or no discount at all. Then straight to the dungeon! If you're willing to play a bit more, I'm also alright - we can use spoilers so the rest of the players have to click on them to check :p I'm fine either way.

Mark looks at the smaller stones. "Do they mean something? Shall we check on them?" he asks, bracing his staff.

Mark thinks carefully about the woman's words. There doesn't appear to be a direct peril for the village in these barrows, other than getting lost or suck - nothing here would change by venturing there. But, on the other hand, he could find interesting artifacts or even stories. And maybe most importantly, he's almost broke.

"When are you planning to begin with the expedition?"

"From what I've heard, the Barrowland is just a wet and stinky hole" Mark says while getting a bit closer. "What's in there to cause such an interest?"

Mark takes a sip of sour, dark ale. "I'm a relative."

He's about to explain a bit more when someone invites the patrons to join an expedition to somewhere called 'the barrows'. He squeezes his brains and gets some memories of having heard about that place. A putrid swamp where lots of folks go to die seeking fortune, or that's how people regard it out of Aerik.

Well, that's interesting.

"What's in this place and why is an expedition necessary?" he asks our loud, trying to determine whether he's to join a righteous crusade, a pillaging raid or a suicidal stroll.

Mark enters the tavern and pulls back his his, revealing a whitish skin and some half-long black hair. A tall guy, he quickly stands off. He walks to the bar and asks the one he thinks is Bollo.

"Hi. I would like a refreshment and directions to Andre Calaway's home" he says, letting a pair of coppers fall onto the wooden bar.

This is Mark, the Phenom :p As I said, he's a Sorcerer at first level, but this will change with next level up. It fits background-wise, since he had special powers before being ordained, while mechanically it helps his durability.

"I have a local guy, a Johnson. She might know someone, let me give her a smoke signal."

Mark enters some data in his comm and the sound of dialing can be heard by everyone. "Woops." He quickly change to private mode.

"Dove? It's Mark. Listen, how good could you find me some items and/or people?"

Mark sits down and takes a sip of water. "Alright, so... First of all, what can reach of us contribute? Might save our lives to know what to expect." He pauses for a second, in case someone wants to start, then he starts himself.

"Okay. I can do some mundane stealth, and have a look at the astral space. I can fight in close combat, kill quietly and deal with hostile spirits to an extent. Who else?"

Mark looks around, trying to identify the neighbourhood. "Not mine, that's for sure" he shrugs. He makes sure his sword is well hideen. "We should move away now, though - I guess such a group we make is quite striking to the eyes of a peaceful citizen."

"Quick! Before they realise what has happened! I hope it's a big car, we're quite the group." Mark would pick the key himself if it wasn't for the Johnson, which still seems to need his aid to not drop dead to the ground.

Mark gets out of the place with the unconscious man on his back. "Now where to? This one's heavy" he asks.

Mark has no fecking idea, just that the elf guy who just got him an extra payment said "I'm gonna get you outta this", so he believes him.

Mark puts his katana back in the hilt and nods at Sam, taking the drunkster on his shoulders. "I got him, you all work your magic." He doesn't seem to be doing much effort, but of course, he can't be holding the dead weight forever. Hopefully, he only needs to last until the rest can clear a way out.

"Maybe some of you know how to go through this wall" Mark comments, knowing it sounds silly but having witnessed many an adept punch through much harder materials. "We could use a Troll now, maybe" he jokes inside.

As he witnesses how the magician tries to use his weird powers, he waits in silence. "Let's see what does he come up with."

Mark immediately looks around trying to find an alternative way out. Just in case, he pulls back his robes and picks his trusted katana, Hikari.

Turning to the others, he shrugs. "So, anyone knows a place where to meet?"

Mark nods. "Okay." Feeling they should get going if they have only three days, Mark turns his head to the rest of the team. "Alright, so... do we have a place we could call a "base", or something?"

Mark decides it's time to take the money and run. Not in the "walk fast" sense, of course. The other guys seem eager to do the job, and the payment is juicy, so he wants to accept. That doesn't mean he has to be careless, though.

"Okay" he says while taking the credstick and a calzone. "You've got any intel that you can share? Location? Security personnel?"

After a quick look at the astral plane he notices whatever he considers singular and asks the guy for food. "A Ponza Rotta, please." He asks for his drink as well and occupies a seat facing the entrance door. While he munches, ignoring the looks of surprise at his garnment, he monitors all who enter in search of a potential clue. When he recieves the message, he slowly gets up, pays his food and directs his steps towards Room 3, paying attention to every detail.

"I didn't like the movie anyway" Mark thinks. He turns off the device and checks his vintage wrist watch. "Still time." It's been a while since last time Mark was at Jimmy's, and he wouldn't mind a Ponza Rotta for dinner. He carefully picks his sword, Hikari, and hangs her from his belt in a specific way that his robes cover the long and curved shape.

During his long walk to Jimmy's Grotto, Mark attracts all kinds of looks. To be honest, the sight of a guy wearing Jedi robes and a yellow umbrella under the midnight rain is something few people are able to ignore. Mark is already used to it anyway, so he happily walks enjoying the sound of the raindrops until he reaches the aforementioned meeting point. When he comes in, he closes his umbrella while he has a look at the faces around, including a quick sight of the Astral plane. "Okay, let's see what we find here tonight..."
